Over everything, he’s my Bestest friend. My BIGGEST supporter. He called me his Superstar. We prayed. We pranked each other. Literally was just too big a** kids,” she began. “I’ve questioned life. I’ve doubted my strength through this. I haven’t been eating. And barely sleeping. I don’t know how im functioning. I’m crying because I know he was ready. He was happy. He was loved. This has to be the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.”

His brother Blacc Sam recently sat down with Big Boi for an interview, where he recalled making arrangements for his funeral. He revealed that churches were refusing to host it out of fear. With help from the right people, they eventually held it at the Crypto.com Arena, formerly the Staples Center.

“After weeks and weeks of we can’t get a venue … we got the Staples for bro. And so, at that point, it was like, alright man, we gotta make sure we do this the right way for bro,” he explained. Their efforts resulted in a 25-mile procession, with roughly 20,000 people in attendance to honor Nipsey. BeatKing’s Tragic Death Leaves Social Media Users Devastated

Recently, beloved Houston rapper and producer BeatKing passed away at the age of 39. His manager Tasha Felder confirmed the tragic news in an Instagram post yesterday, penning a heartfelt message about the devastating loss. “Today, August 15, 2024 we have lost @clubgodzilla,” she began. “Beatking has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters @clubgodparenting, his music and his fans. We will love him forever.”

Early on, BeatKing’s cause of death was unknown, but a rep told TMZ today that he passed away after suffering a pulmonary embolism. Reportedly, he had been hosting a takeover on Urban One/Radio One when he fainted. The artist was promptly rushed to the hospital but later died with his two daughters by his side.

God Bless your soul and family,” he wrote. Bun B also posted a heartfelt message about the loss yesterday.

EST Gee’s Artist, EST Lu Mike, Dies After Louisville Shooting

EST Gee is dealing with yet another difficult loss, as recently, it was revealed that one of his artists passed away in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Police were called to the 900 block of Baxter Avenue early Sunday (August 11), over reports of gunfire. Reportedly, they discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, one of which had already died. The other two victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, another one of them passed away shortly after. The final victim is still recovering from their injuries and is expected to survive.

One of the men who passed away was identified as EST Lu Mike, a close friend of the rapper’s. At the time of writing, the circumstances that led up to the shooting remain unclear. Police have also yet to identify a suspect. News of the tragedy arrives just after another member of EST Gee’s circle, his manager EST Beach, died last month.

EST Lu Mike Dies Of Gunshot Wounds In Louisville

According to WDRB, EST Beach was found deceased in a vehicle in downtown Louisville in late July. He was only 31 years old when he was fatally shot. Beach had been in town for EST Gee’s homecoming show, EST Gee + Friends Summer Jam, which took place on July 20 and featured artists like Future, Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, and more. EST Gee has yet to address EST Lu Mike’s passing.

News of Lu Mike’s passing also comes shortly after he previewed an upcoming track on Instagram. “Every time these n***as slip then we gon’ do ’em dirty / I’m into purgin’, ain’t nothing little about this 30,” he rapped. Blacc Sam Recalls The Moments Leading Up To Nipsey Hussle’s Death & Shares His Theory On What Happened

Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, spoke about the late rapper’s death in a rare lengthy interview with Big Boy for his Off Air Series on Friday. In doing so, he reflected on the moments leading up to the shooting and his theory for what was going through the killer’s head. Police charged Eric Holder with the shooting and he was found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter three years later. Holder is currently serving a 60-year prison sentence.

“Somebody come to the shop, they know we in the doorway,” Sam began. “When Hussle pull up, we in the doorway. You’re gonna see me with a hoodie on and I got a pistol on me. You’re gonna see one of my team members in the hoodie in the doorway with a pistol. That’s protocol when Hussle pull up. So, it’s Sunday. It’s busy in there. Why the n***a in there didn’t follow the protocol? I wasn’t there. Why they didn’t follow it? Maybe they was f*cking around, helping a customer who was doing some f*cking customer service. This is what I’m thinking, trying to transition into some legitimate, just selling clothes. But nobody was in the doorway.” From there, he walked through the steps of the killing and described it as premeditated.

Hip-Hop Mourns The Tragic Passing Of M.O.P Affiliate, Foxx

Foxx, M.O.P.’s former tour manager and former member of the rap group Lethal, died on August 3 after a 15-year battle with scleroderma, an autoimmune disease. The Bronx native’s respirator was removed from her on August 2 in the hospital. She was 55. DJ Kid Capri, a childhood friend of Foxx’s, broke the news on Instagram in a heartfelt post, paying tribute and detailing the story of the last time he saw her in the hospital.

The hip-hop community best knows Foxx as the “mother figure” of the Brownsville-based duo M.O.P. She played an integral part in the duo’s successful run in the late 1990s and early 2000s. “M.O.P. wouldn’t get nowhere if it wasn’t for me. I’m like their Mother Goose,” said Foxx in a previous interview. “They don’t got no mothers, no fathers, none of that sh*t. I can put them in check, and I’m probably the only one that can do that, partly because I’m older than them.” Of course, the hip-hop community paid tribute following Capri’s announcement.

Foxx Passes Away At 55, Hip-Hop Legends Mourn

DJ Premier also shared a tribute to Foxx, accompanied by a video from 1998 of her rapping on a tour bus while she was traveling with Gang Starr. “I’m hurt in more ways than one, but your pain is gone now,” he said. “Even tho I saw you in the hospital Tuesday, it sucks to get that call. We all are gonna miss you so much but the fun times are documented in our souls. You were HardCore and Sweet at the same time. Would f*ck up anybody that fronted on us or you. My beautiful Foxx Beige sleep peacefully Queen.” Fat Joe referred to her as “family,” while The Alchemist expressed his condolences as well, calling her “the illest.”

Foxx’s death is the latest in what has been a sad last few weeks for hip-hop. Chino XL, long considered one of the most underrated rappers of his era, unexpectedly died on July 28. DJ Polo, the former Juice Crew member best known for his career-defining work with Kool G Rap, passed away the day before. The hip-hop world continues to mourn the passing of its legends. Curtis Jackson Sr. was 91 years old at the time of his passing, and his cause of death has not yet been revealed.

“You do know none of this sh*t really matters, [winking emoji] we can’t take it with us. I lost my Grandfather last night, now he can go everywhere with me,” Fif wrote. Erica Ash, an actress best known for her work on Real Husbands of Hollywood as well as Survivor’s Remorse has passed away at the age of 46. In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, her publicist confirmed that she died in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer on Sunday. “Erica was an amazing woman and talented entertainer who touched countless lives with her sharp wit, humor, and genuine zest for life,” her family said in a statement. “Her memory will live eternally in our hearts.”

BET also shared a post in her honor. “Today, #BETRemembers actress and comedienne Erica Ash who has passed away at the age of 46,” the company wrote on its official Instagram. “Known for being equal parts witty and funny, Erica starred in BET favorites such as legal drama ‘In Contempt’ and reality spoof ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood.’ We send our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family. DJ Polo’s Tragic Passing Leads To Tributes From Ice-T, Eric B, And More

DJ Polo’s family has confirmed that the iconic hip-hop producer has passed away. In a statement on Instagram, his son announced that his loved ones are currently in mourning. Polo was best known for his work with Kool G Rap, having released three albums together as a duo in the late 80s and early 90s. The two were also members of Juice Crew.

“It is with a heavy heart we mourn the loss of my father, the incredible DJ Polo,” the statement begins. “He was not only a legend to the hip hop community but also to his family and we celebrate his life and legacy now and forever. We would like to thank you all for your beautiful words and tributes – seeing the impact he made has been overwhelming and we are so grateful.” From there, Polo’s son clarified that Polo has more than two children before concluding: “Thank you all again for your condolences and for respecting the family’s privacy at this time. We miss you Cuzmo.”

DJ Polo… DJ for legendary @TheRealKoolGRap [prayer hands emoji]. Life is precious.” Eric B added in an Instagram post: “My brother DJ POLO we had some great times you will never be forgotten GODS speed.” Taking to the comments section of the family’s aforementioned announcement, DJ Premier wrote: “Condolences. Sleep Peacefully King.”
