Former president Donald Trump has had a strange relationship with rappers. He’s received criticism from countless rappers for his conservative policies but there are a few prominent voices who seem to have his back. Kanye West famously wore one of Trump’s MAGA hats and even met with him in the White House. Lil Pump has appeared alongside Trump at numerous events though the former president notoriously mis-identified him as “Lil Pimp.” Most recently Benny The Butcher expressed admiration for Trump and after a sea of backlash decided not to address political matters publicly anymore.

One particularly interesting case is that of Kodak Black. The rapper had a long history of legal troubles and actually found his relief in Donald Trump. During his presidency he granted Kodak a pardon leading to his release from prison. Subsequent legal troubles may lead to Kodak serving that sentence after all, but he was thankful for Trump’s support. Another rap-adjacent figure who received a pardon is Death Row co-founder Harry-O who spent decades behind bars. But his pardon was almost not granted in the first place because of Snoop Dogg’s past comments about Donald Trump.

A new story from Rolling Stone shed some light on how the situation unfolded. Snoop was reportedly working behind the scenes in late 2021 in an effort to get Harry-O freed. Trump aides pointed out multiple times that Snoop had criticized the former president during his administration and suggested removing Harry’s name from consideration as a sort of punishment.

Allegedly, the only reason Trump ultimately went through with the pardon was a different more recent comment from Snoop. They reportedly were sent a video of Snoop praising the president’s efforts at social justice reform that ultimately changed his mind on the pardon. Boosie Badazz says that he met with Suge Knight back in the 2000s, prior to his prison sentence, to discuss signing with Death Row. Appearing on VladTV, Boosie claimed that people had told Knight he could be the “next 2Pac.”

“Before I went to prison, Suge came down there to Baton Rouge in ’09/’08, he was talking about signing me. People was telling him I was his next 2Pac.” He didn’t go into details besides confirming he was interested in signing to Death Row. “Everything happen for a reason. When I’m down with you, I’m down with you. I’d have been beefing with everybody Suge would have been beefing with,” he added.

Suge Knight Accuses Jimmy Iovine Of Turning 2Pac’s Mom Against Him

During a recent episode of his podcast, Collect Call With Suge Knight, the former Death Row boss opened up about the label’s partnership with Interscope. Interscope gained exclusive distribution rights to Death Row’s music in the 90s. According to Knight, he once reached out to Jimmy Iovine for his archives. He defined this as “your masters, any songs you put out, any songs you didn’t put out.”

Unfortunately, however, he claims he was told that Iovine no longer had some of the music. Iovine’s reasoning for this was that 2Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur allegedly took them from him at gunpoint. He alleged that she and some armed men came and then demanded him to hand over any music featuring 2Pac.

Afeni also once visited Knight while he was in prison, and informed him that she was told he was involved in having her son murdered. “I said, ‘Who is they?’” he explained. “She said, ‘The mothaf*ckers at Interscope.’ So she never told me who and the light finally clicked on. Oh, I get it. So muthaf*ckas trying to work me. They gonna turn her against me, they gonna lie on me, and the saddest thing about that sh*t — she died without knowing the truth.”

Duane “Keefe D” Davis was later arrested and charged with the late icon’s murder, though he’s not believed to have pulled the trigger. According to Knight, this came as a shock to him. “I [didn’t] think Keefe D would ever get arrested, nor do I want to see him get arrested,” he said on another podcast episode. “Let’s get one thing straight, first and foremost: me and Keefe D played on the same Pop Warner football team. 2pac Once Got In A Screaming Match With Suge Knight Over $700k According To Music Video Director

Suge Knight and 2pac have both found themselves back in the headlines recently for very different reasons. In Tupac’s case, it’s because of the arrest of Keefe D for the rapper’s notorious murder. After frequently discussing his role in the case in various interviews, Keefe was finally arrested by Las Vegas police for his involvement in the rapper’s death almost 30 years ago.

In Suge Knight’s case, his newfound attention has been entirely on purpose. He recently started a new podcast called Collect Call With Suge Knight. Even though there’s only been two episodes so far they’ve both come with tons of fascinating revelations. In the first episode Suge refuted Warren G’s story that he played a role in freeing Pac from prison. In fact, he went even further to say that the two never liked each other in the first place. In the second episode he revealed the identity of a mystery woman who actually did play a major role in connecting Pac and Suge while the rapper was in prison. But now it’s somebody else entirely making revelations about the two.

2pac And Suge Knight Fighting Over $700k Movie Check

Earlier this week Gobi M. Rahimi, a music video that 2pac worked with numerous times, sat down with The Art Of Dialogue. He used the opportunity to refute Suge Knight and 2pac being as close as they seem. “A lot of people have said they were like brothers or whatever. I only got to see the experiences of him yelling and screaming either at Suge or Death Row employees trying to find out where he money was,” he began.

Rahimi even has a specific and detailed moment to reference. “‘Cause at one point, I remember hearing that 2Pac’s $700,000 check for acting in Gridlock’d had also gone to Suge. And ‘Pac was on the phone yelling and screaming ’bout, ‘Why the f*ck’s my movie money coming to you?’” he detailed. Tha Doggfather remains one of rap’s most important leading gurus, whereas ‘Pac remains arguably the most influential rapper of all time. However, interest in the two doesn’t just revolve around their current moves and, in Shakur’s case, his tragic murder. Moreover, nothing matches those early days in many’s eyes, whether due to their artistry, their groundbreaking characters, or their iconic style. On that last point, some iced-out pieces that the two spitters once owned could sell for a massive pile of cash at an upcoming auction.

Furthermore, GottaHaveRockAndRoll.com claimed to TMZ Hip Hop that they got their hands on Snoop Dogg and Tupac’s diamond-encrusted Death Row pendants. They will soon go up for auction, along with many other items from the Suge Knight-fronted record label’s heyday. Apparently, the outlet got them from Reggie Wright Jr., the Row’s former head of security. From what these reports allege, Suge commissioned various chains for his artists to borrow, and set aside these 14-karat “Fully Iced” pieces for ‘Pac and Snoop. As such, hopeful buyers expect them to go up for anywhere between $500K and $1 million.

This is a part of the outlet’s celebration of rap’s 50-year anniversary.

The Louisiana rapper’s daughter, Tori, responded to Boosie Badazz’s diss song that he released on his new album, Going Thru Some Thangs. However, both Boosie and Tori escalated their issues online. Tori claimed Boosie was an absent father while the rapper stated that he threatened to black her eye in an attempt to instill fear into her. Evidently, Boosie’s parenting tactics failed and the tension only grew stronger the more he engaged online.

In the midst of Boosie Badazz accusing the brother of Tori’s mom of child molestation, she stated that she wished the state left him on death row. “Should’ve stayed on there. Later, the temperature in the room increased as JT’s anger toward Lil Uzi Vert erupted in a phone-throwing feud. One of the celebrities who was most excited to be in attendance was definitely Boosie Badazz, who had to bring his lawyers along for supervision shortly after he bonded out of jail.

While walking the red carpet a the annual ceremony, the Louisiana native stopped to speak with the press about several hot topics right now, one of them being snitching and its lack of tolerance within the hip-hop culture these days. When asked why he feels so negatively about those who snitch, Boosie had plenty to say. “It happened to my family. I’ve had two uncles snitched on that did 10-20 years,” he began.
