Dave Chappelle Details Lil Nas X Run-In During Latest Stand-Up Special

Dave Chappelle reflected on meeting Lil Nas X during his newest stand-up special for Netflix. He says the rapper approached him at a party and asked why he refused to be in one of his music videos. Chappelle didn’t specify what video Nas was referring to while also claiming not to know what he was talking about.

“I know a dreamer when I see one and I’ve met many powerful dreamers in my life — none more powerful than the man who calls himself Lil Nas X,” Chappelle begins. “I met this n***a at a party; I had no idea who he was. But the minute he walked in that party, I knew I was in his dream. Everybody in the party was another dreamer. Everyone was famous. But when that n***a walked in, he was dressed like C-3PO. He was shining! Everyone was like, ‘Oh my God, there he is! That’s Lil Nas X!’ I didn’t know who he was.”

Just before 2023 ended, on December 31, Dave Chappelle wrapped up his year with a new stand-up comedy special, The Dreamer, for Netflix. It’s definitely one for Lil Nas X fans to watch, as Chappelle devoted some time in his set to recounting his first meeting with the rapper.

Chappelle explained:

“I know a dreamer when I see one, and I’ve met many powerful dreamers in my life, none more powerful than the man who calls himself Lil Nas X.

I met this n**** at a party, I had no idea who he was. But the minute he walked in that party, I knew I was in his dream. Everybody in the party was another dreamer. Dave Chappelle Targets Trans and Disabled Community with Jokes in New Netflix Special

Dave Chappelle The Closer Netflix

As long as Dave Chappelle has jokes, the LGBTQ community will be a target. In his new Netflix special, The Dreamer, Chappelle not only targeted the trans community but had some habs for the disabled community as well.

“If you guys came here to this show tonight thinking that I’m going to make fun of those people [trans people] again, you’ve come to the wrong show,” Chappelle said. “I’m not fucking with those people anymore. It wasn’t worth the trouble. I ain’t saying shit about them. Maybe three or four times tonight, but that’s it.

“I’m tired of talking about them. And you want to know why I’m tired of talking about them? Because these people acted like I needed them to be funny. Well, that’s ridiculous. I don’t need you. I got a whole new angle coming. You guys will never see this shit coming.”

What was the angle? Jokes about the disabled community because, as Chappelle sees it, “They are not as organized as the gays. And I love punching down.”

You can see the trailer for the special below and see it in full on Netflix.

Dave Chappelle Takes Aim At Trans Community & Disabled People In New Netflix Special

These days, Dave Chappelle is known for standing by his non-PC approach to comedy, and his new special is no exception. The Dreamer arrived on Netflix today, raising eyebrows and getting social media users talking. The special features various jokes about the trans community, disabled people, Will Smith’s infamous Oscars slap, and even Lil Nas X.

One of Chappelle’s jokes centered around him meeting Jim Carrey on the set of Man On The Moon, in which the actor stars as Andy Kaufman. “I was very disappointed because I wanted to meet Jim Carrey and I had to pretend he was Andy Kaufman all afternoon. It was clearly Jim Carrey. I could look at him and clearly see it was Jim Carrey,” he explained, citing Carrey’s method-acting. “I say all that to say … that’s how trans people make me feel.”

He later joked that in an attempt to mend his relationship with the trans community, he wrote a play about a trans woman. “To be honest with you, I’ve been trying to repair my relationship with the transgender community cause I don’t want them to think that I don’t like them… You know how I’ve been repairing it? I wrote a play. I did. Cause I know that gays love plays. It’s a very sad play, but it’s moving,” he described, “It’s about a Black transgender woman whose pronoun is, sadly, n***a. It’s a tear-jerker. At the end of the play she dies of loneliness cause white liberals don’t know how to speak to her. It’s sad.”

Chappelle didn’t stop there, however. He went on to joke that he’d now be targeting disabled people. “Tonight, I’m doing all handicapped jokes,” he declared. “They’re not as organized as the gays and I love punching down.” What do you think of the jokes Dave Chappelle made about trans people in his new Netflix special? Danny Brown Believes Dave Chappelle Doesn’t Like Him Anymore

Danny Brown is unquestionably one of the funniest rappers around, so it’s curious to hear how he’s butted heads with other comics. In fact, to hear that Dave Chappelle apparently doesn’t like him is one of the most surprising but simultaneously hilarious “beefs” to come up recently, although it’s not that serious at all. Apparently, this stems from when the rapper gave the comedian a joint before his stand-up set. Chappelle got too high, bombed, and apparently Danny refused to answer his calls, which he denied was the case. In fact, the Detroit MC even said “F**k your feelings, n***a” on his podcast and even referenced this on his new album, Quaranta.

“Smoke with Dave Chappelle, the n***a think I laced him,” Danny Brown rapped on “Dark Sword Angel.” “Knew it was the pack, he started talking about spaceships.” During a recent conversation with HipHopDX, he looked back on this and clarified that there’s no real tension or animosity here. “I think he don’t like me no more,” the 42-year-old chuckled. “I would love to [talk to him again] though. I just respect him so much, you know, and it just taught me a lot. Made me respect stand-up comedy a lot more, I will say that.”

Danny Brown Speaks On Dave Chappelle: Watch

Elsewhere during this talk, Danny Brown also spoke on his relationship to stand-up comedy as a whole. “I can just be funny and talk s**t, but to actually write good jokes and s**t, I still don’t get it,” he reflected. “My favorite stand-up comedians was always the ones that, you know, you could laugh at and they had jokes, but they always leave you with that little gem. It’s kind of like you’re learning something, too. I want to be that good, and that takes some time. But, you know, with comedy you can be 80 years old and still be on stage cracking jokes. So I still got time.

“I had all the say [in his VICE TV show Danny’s House‘s content],” he added. “But I just was so nervous at the time, so I didn’t really take that much advantage of it. They wanted me always to improv and go off-script, but I would always just stick [to my script] ’cause I was just so nervous doing it, man, you know? It’s a different time, man. Now, I’d be cr*zy.” For more news and the latest updates on Danny Brown, keep checking in with HNHH.

Dave Chappelle’s New Netflix Special Drops On New Year’s Eve

Dave Chappelle is returning to Netflix at the end of December with a brand-new comedy special. The unnamed special is Chappelle’s first on the platform since 2021’s incredibly controversial The Closer. That special, which hinged heavily on jokes about the LGBTQ+ community, garnered widespread criticism and even led to an employee walkout at Netflix. However, Netflix stood by the comedian and continued their deal with Chappelle. This upcoming special will be Chappelle’s seventh for the platform. His partnership with Netflix dates back to 2017, when he dropped four specials in a single year.

The new special, which drops on New Year’s Eve, was promoted with a brief trailer that used Morgan Freeman to announce that “Dave is back”. There’s no word on what sort of material that Chappelle will be covering. However, he’s never been one to shy away from controversial topics. Expect a lot of outrage once the full show drops in a few weeks time. Will you be watching Chappelle’s new show? Let us know in the comments.

Dave Chappelle’s Israel-Palestine Comments Cause Walkout

Meanwhile, Chappelle saw several audience members walk out of his show in Boston in October after he decided to speak on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. No footage of the set is online, as Chappelle confiscated the audience’s phones before he began. While Chappelle condemned the initial Hamas attack on Israel, he said that students in the US shouldn’t be losing job offers for supporting Palestine. Several Ivy League students have reported experiencing such consequences for publicly supporting Palestine.

However, Chappelle doubled down, stating that the Israeli response to the Hamas attack has been disproportionate and going as far as to accuse Israel of war crimes. Not stopping there, Chappelle also accused the US of aiding and abetting the Israeli atrocities thanks to their full-throated support fo the nation. The comments led several audience members to leave the show early, according to sources who spoke with TMZ.

Fans Walk Out of Dave Chappelle Show Over Israel Comments

The Israel/Hamas conflict in Palestine has been a very touchy subject across the globe, but that was not the case this past week in Boston for comedian Dave Chappelle.

The famed funnyman waited until the end of his set to address the bloody conflict in the Middle East, jokingly saying that students that have publicly supported the Palestinian people shouldn’t be losing out on job offers. Chappelle didn’t mention the October 7 attack by Hamas on the Israeli people, but accused Israel of war crimes via their bombing while accusing the U.S. of helping Israel kill “innocent civilians.”

Some fans scoffed at his comments, while others chanted, “Free Palestine!”, prompting some of the attendees to walk out of the almost complete, cell phone free set.

As fighting enters its third week, the death toll is set to exceed 6000, with a vast majority of the reported deaths being Palestinians. While some aid relief has been allowed into the Gaza Strip, Israel maintains an iron fist around the occupied enclave. Furthermore, fingers continue to be pointed over the destruction of a Gazan hospital this week. Israeli sources initially claimed credit for the attack. However, tweets were edited and statements amended to blame a failed Hamas rocket attack. Independent investigations are inconclusive at this time. However, early indications suggest that the munitions used to destroy the hospital came from Israel and not Gaza

Meanwhile, the violence has begun to spread outside of the Middle East. A six-year-old Palestinian boy was murdered by his landlord in Chicago. The self-proclaimed MAGA supporter reportedly forced entry into the apartment and stabbed the boy to death. Elsewhere, a synagogue president in Detroit was found stabbed to death outside her home. Police have not yet established a motive for the murder.
