Damian Lillard Files For Divorce From Wife Kay’La

Damian Lillard has filed for divorce from his wife Kay’La. Lillard filed the motion in Clackamas County Circuit Court and the news was first reported by the Willamette Week. The Lillards have been married since 2021 but have been together since their college days at Weber State. However, Lillard’s filing cites “irreconcilable differences” and suggests that the couple has been living apart since December 2022. The couple have three children together – a five-year-old and two-year-old twin daughters.

Furthermore, the October 2 filing came less than a week after Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Given that the couple appears to have been separated for almost a year, it’s unclear what impact Lillard’s trade had on the decision to formally file for divorce. Lillard’s attorney did not respond to the Willamette Week‘s request for comment. Meanwhile, Lillard is not currently available to the media as he is attending the Bucks’ training camp.

Jrue Holiday Rejoins The Eastern Conference After Lillard Trade

Away from Lillard’s personal life, he will now have to regularly face a part of his own trade package. The Blazers traded Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics for two first-round picks, Robert Williams III, and Malcolm Brogdon. However, Holiday’s brief time in Portland was not unexpected. After acquiring the veteran defensive star, the Blazers had made it clear that they would be looking to trade him given their complement of young, developing players at the guard position. Holiday, who had 19.3 points and 7.4 assists per game last season, will likely become the Celtics’ starting point guard in place of Derrick White.

However, the move means that Holiday will now have several regular-season matchups against Dame, Giannis, and the Bucks. Giannis had expressed genuine sadness that acquiring Lillard had come at the cost of losing Holiday. “Jrue is my fucking brother for life. I love his family, I love him. I appreciate him and I wish him nothing but the best. He blessed me with a fucking championship. He’s the one who made that huge steal in Game 5 of the Finals. I went to battle with him multiple times. Fuck basketball. Fuck the media shit. This guy is my brother for life, and it’s always going to be like that,” the Bucks star told Bleacher Report.

Lillard Calls Antentokounmpo 'Best Player in the League'

Damian Lillard made his first appearance as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks during Media Day on Monday (Oct. 2). Sitting in front of the media, Lillard stated that he will be playing “alongside the best player in the league,” speaking of Giannis Antentokounmpo.

“My whole career has been off-the-dribble 3s, pick-and-roll pull-up 3s, contested. Double-teamed. Trapped,” Lillard said. “I’m curious to see how that can be possible with a player as dominant as he is. I’m excited for an opportunity to play with him. I’m excited for the opportunity to be freed up and the opportunity to have more space and opportunity to play. It’s going to be fun.”

The Damian Lillard era of the Portland Trailblazers ended last week. Lillard has been dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team deal.

According to ESPN, the other teams in the deal are the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks. The Blazers will receive Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Milwaukee’s 2029 unprotected 1st-round draft pick, and unprotected Milwaukee swap rights in 2028 and 2030. Holiday has already been traded to Boston.

The Suns will get Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson.

Jimmy Butler Brought the Bang to NBA Media Day

Jimmy Butler has brought the bang to NBA Media Day. Appearing in his white Miami HEAT jersey, Jimmy Butler stated he was emo for the day. Maybe it is a result of missing out on Damian Lillard as a teammate.

Jimmy Butler wants the NBA’s version of a RICO opened on the Milwaukee Bucks. In case you missed it, the Bucks landed Damian Lillard in a trade, a deal that long thought would send the point guard to the Miami HEAT.

The Suns will get Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson.

Hitting social media, Butler wants the NBA to look into the Bucks. Although, it could just be a joke to the moment.

“Yo NBA man, y’all need to look into the Bucks for tampering,” Butler said. “Y’all didn’t hear it from me, but I heard it from somebody.”

Shams Charania Roasted For Tweeting Wrong Damian Lillard Trade

There were two losers in the Damian Lillard trade – the Miami Heat and journalist Shams Charania. Shams has been slowly building himself to be a viable rival in the NBA news wars to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski. However, The Athletic and Stadium reporter took a major blow to his credibility while trying to beat Woj to the Damian Lillard trade news. Shams tweeted the news just after Woj did. However, Shams’ tweet was full of errors. His tweet listed the Raptors as Lillard’s destination rather than the Bucks. Furthermore, Shams erroneously reported the trade as a four-team trade despite only listing three teams.

The tweet was widely roasted online, with people clowning on Shams for getting the trade report so wrong while also still being beat to the scoop by Woj. Meanwhile, many journalists noted that even in the battle to be “first to report”, it’s still better to be right than first. However, for many people, it also showed exactly why Woj is and remains king of the NBA scoops.

Is Shams Cooked?

However, it’s not the first time this year that Shams has made a questionable reporting decision. In the hours before the NBA draft, Shams reported that the Hornets were considering Scoot Henderson over Brandon Miller at #2. This led to a wave of people putting money on Henderson to the Hornets. However, the Hornets chose Miller and said after the draft that he was always going to be the pick. Shams’ integrity was brought into question given his ties to the betting platform FanDuel.

Many fans, rightfully, questioned if Shams had knowingly released information he knew to be shaky at best because it would help FanDuel’s margins. It briefly raised questions as to the impact that sports bettors having sway over journalists is having on the sports media industry. While Woj’s record isn’t perfect, it’s hard not to draw comparisons between the two reporters. After all, Shams managed to be both late and wrong to the Lillard trade. As SB Nation staffer Kofie Yeboah said in his response – “X having an edit button doesn’t mean anything. Shams was still late and wrong about the trade.”

Damian Lillard Says “Farewell” To Portland With New Single

As Damian Lillard prepares for life in Milwaukee, he had one last message for the Blazers faithful. Lillard released a new single, “Farewell”, under his Dame D.O.L.L.A. musical persona. The low-key track serves, as the title implies, as Lillard’s final message to the fans who have supported him since he went sixth overall in 2012. Furthermore, the track comes just a few weeks after he dropped his fifth studio album, Don D.O.L.L.A. The song includes a bevy of references, including Boogie Cousins and Master P. Furthermore, Lillard also implies that Portland will regret their decision to let him leave.

Elsewhere, Lillard tweeted out a more formal goodbye to the city of Portland. “The casuals won’t be addressed but the trailblazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be and they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned. Excited for my next chapter! @Bucks🎟,” Lillard wrote on X, formerly Twitter. The replies were full of well-wishers as the Blazer faithful were sad, yet accepting, of their superstar’s departure.

Lillard Finally Joins A Contender

Lillard joined the Milwaukee Bucks as part of a three-team trade this week. The Bucks get Lillard while the the Blazers get Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Jrue Holiday, a first-round pick in 2029, and the right to swap first-rounders in 2028 and 2030. Meanwhile, the Suns, who helped make the trade happen, get Jusuf Nurkić, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, and Grayson Allen.

If there’s a winner in this trade, it’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee’s star has been vocal in recent weeks about the need for the franchise to surround him with talent. Now he has a co-star who was top five in points per game last season and top ten in assists per game. Meanwhile, the Blazers could continue to recoup assets to build themselves into a contender. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that they are already making calls to flip Jrue Holiday as they are committed to their core of young guards.

Damian Lillard Rapped ‘Farewell’ To Portland And Roasted The Blazers After His Blockbuster Trade To Milwaukee

Damian Lillard never needs an excuse to remind everyone of his rap prowess as Dame D.O.L.L.A., but a blockbuster trade from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday afternoon is as good of an excuse as he’ll ever find.

Shortly after ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news of the trade, Lillard addressed it on X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, “The casuals won’t be addressed but the Trail Blazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be … and they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned. Excited for my next chapter! @Bucks”

Roughly two hours later, Lillard shared “Farewell” to Apple Music and Tidal, with a promise that the freestyle would hit “the rest of the platforms soon.”

The track comes in at just under three minutes and it kept true to Lillard’s promise, reflecting on his path to this point, appreciating everyone who stood by him (“Only my loved ones make me feel free”), and holding those who bailed accountable (“Let some people in, and now these n****s disgust me / I learned that a wolf can sometimes resemble a husky”).

In the final 45 seconds, Lillard raps, “I can never be replaced / They’ll know sooner than later / An arrow pointed at who assumed it was greater / Amazing what I get in return for this labor / I’ll continue leaving trails but [inaudible] beef with the Blazers / To the fans, man, I love you / It’s unconditional / Reasons for me leaving the city’s nothing typical.”

Lillard continues, “So it’s imperative not to believe the narrative / Just know that what I left is better than what I inherited / I leave at peace because I know, in the end, that this is business / Hope you remember all the things you got to sit and witness / In the future, man, I hope we greet with hugs and kisses / But you should know that they the ones who chose another mission.”

Lillard was drafted sixth overall by the Blazers in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Oakland native has been a loyal superstar to Portland despite never sniffing an NBA title. The furthest Lillard’s Blazers made it in the NBA Playoffs was the Western Conference Finals during the 2018-19 season.

In July, reports surfaced that Lillard had requested a trade from Portland and wanted to land with the Miami Heat. Rumors swirled all summer around Lillard’s desire to join the Heat and Portland’s disinterest in accommodating his request, and the Bucks swooped in out of seemingly nowhere to pair Dame with Giannis Antetokounmpo — much to Jimmy Butler’s chagrin.

Jimmy Butler Reacts To Damian Lillard Trade, Wants Bucks Investigated For Tampering

A bombshell from the NBA and its insiders hit the social media timelines just a few moments ago. The Portland Trailblazers were finally able to strike a deal to send a disgruntled Damian Lillard to a new home. However, one more extra team was brought in to get this one done. While he does not get his wish to join the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler, he does still have a chance to compete for an NBA championship. That is what he desperately wants to add to his impressive resume. The Milwaukee Bucks emerge as the victors in the trade as they bring in the seven-time all-star to go along with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

This formidable duo may now be prohibitive favorites over Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and Miami to reach and win the NBA Finals. The other team involved in this trade is the Phoenix Suns. The Blazers will get Jrue Holiday, who will be elsewhere, Deandre Ayton, and Toumani Camara. Additionally, a first-round pick in 2029 and the right to swap first-rounders in 2028 and 2030 all from Milwaukee are in the package too. For the Suns, they receive Nassir Little, Grayson Allen, Jusuf Nurkić, and Keon Johnson.

Jimmy Butler Claims The Bucks Tampered

Possibly the person hurting the most from this trade is Miami’s superstar, Jimmy Butler. The two were expecting to be taking the floor together for almost the entire duration of the offseason, but that is now over. Jimmy is one of the funniest athletes in the sport and he reacted to the news the best way possible. In this clip above, he hilariously demands the NBA to investigate the Bucks for tampering with the Lillard trade. He says, “Yo NBA man. Y’all need to look into the Bucks for tampering.” He goes on, “Y’all do. I’m just gonna put that out there. Y’all didn’t hear it from me but I heard it from somebody.” This will be big storyline throughout the 2023-2024 NBA season in what will be another exciting campaign.

What are your initial thoughts on Jimmy Butler jokingly claiming the Milwaukee Bucks tampered to get Damian Lillard on the team? Do you think the Bucks are now the favorites in the Eastern Conference? Will they win the NBA Finals? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Damian Lillard “Excited” By Bucks Trade

Damian Lillard has addressed the news that he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks earlier today. Lillard has been a Blazer since they drafted him in 2012.

After months of speculation, Lillard was traded to the Bucks as part of a three-team trade that also included the Phoenix Suns. The Bucks get Lillard while the Suns get Jusuf Nurkić, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, and Grayson Allen. Meanwhile, the Blazers get Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Jrue Holiday, a first-round pick in 2029 and the right to swap first-rounders in 2028 and 2030. All three picks come from the Bucks.

Giannis Finally Gets His Superstar

If there’s a winner in this trade, it’s Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee’s star has been vocal in recent weeks about the need for the franchise to surround him with talent. Now he has a co-star who was top five in points per game last season and top ten in assists per game. Meanwhile, the Blazers could continue to recoup assets to build themselves into a contender. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that they are already making calls to flip Jrue Holiday as they are committed to their core of young guards.

Furthermore, the Bucks immediately solidify their championship aspirations. With a healthy Giannis, Khris Middleton, and Lillard, they are far and away the best team in the East. It’s a perfect situation for first head coach Adrian Griffin. Sadly, this means that barring a historic collapse or miracle season, the window has likely closed for the Miami Heat. Lillard was their missing puzzle piece. Now not only do they have to play without him, but they will have to regularly play against him.
