Miami Heat Nix Conor McGregor Partnership After Mascot Stunt

Game 4 of the NBA Finals has gone down in infamy for Conor McGregor. He was accused of raping a woman just after the game concluded. However, he also sent the Heat’s mascot to the hospital. Partway through the third quarter, the UFC veteran came onto the court alongside Burnie, the Heat’s anthropomorphized fireball mascot. Burnie donned novelty boxing gloves before almost immediately being rocked by a 1-2 punch combo from McGregor. As the mascot writhed on the floor, McGregor sprayed him with a pain relief aerosol. The stunt had been set up to promote the spray, which McGregor co-owns.

However, it was later reported that the man inside the mascot costume had been sent to the ER and received pain medication following the incident. Later, McGregor said that he had visited the man. “The mascot is good. It was a skit, and all is well,” the MMA veteran said. “I spent a lot of time with him afterward, we talked it out, everything is great. It was all part of the show!” Despite McGregor’s assurances, it was likely not the promotion that Tidl Sport Recovery Spray was looking for. That appears to be the case given the latest news out of Miami.

Heat Reportedly Backing Out Of Deal With McGregor

“This was very bad for an otherwise crystal clean organization,” said an insider. “I can’t imagine the Heat brass want the Tidl Sports patch on their jerseys — it’s a reminder of the 24 hours of hell the organization went through.” Reportedly, the deal would have seen Heat players wearing branded patches on their uniforms in the 2023-24 season. However, it appears that the Heat want to distance themselves from the fighter. Literally KOing a team’s mascot will do that.

Furthermore, the other allegations from that night have given the Heat pause for concern. While there has been little progression in the case in recent weeks, McGregor is still accused of violently assaulting a woman at the Heat’s arena. Even if the accusations are proven to be false, it’s yet another thing that taints McGregor’s presence at the Kaseya Center. For the time being, it appears that Miami’s cashing out of the partnership with the pain spray.

Conor McGregor Vows To Fight Again Amidst Legal Trouble

The Notorious Conor McGregor is always in the news, but rarely is it ever for what made him famous. The UFC fighter — who draws large crowds and Pay-Per-View numbers for the MMA sport — is in hot water over rape allegations in Florida. During Game Four of the 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat, a woman claims McGregor sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center. Florida officials are investigating the matter, and Conor McGregor has not been arrested or charged yet.

Most recently, McGregor was leaving The Peninsula, a posh New York City hotel with his fiancee and children in tow. A mob of fans was waiting for the former double-champion to voice their support against the allegations. Conor McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg fighting at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. However, he still plans to get back in the octagon. “Fighting. Looking to get a fight going,” he said when asked about his future. Currently, he is coaching on The Ultimate Fighter, UFC’s flagship reality TV series. Michael Chandler is coaching the other team on the show. The two of them plan on fighting each other in a lightweight bout after the show ends. (They have yet to set a date for this.)

This is definitely not the first time Conor McGregor got himself into trouble for his public behavior. The Irishman has multiple driving offenses, UFC celebrity clashes, sexual assault allegations in Dublin, violent attacks, and arrests under his belt. Before the most recent sexual assault claim, he punched the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, to promote his pain relief spray. It was a planned skit, but McGregor may have taken it too far. The man in the mascot costume went to the local hospital emergency room for treatment. He was later released in good health.

Conor McGregor was seen out and about in New York on Saturday. It marked the first time that McGregor had been seen since the allegations surfaced. He was seen outside his hotel in both the morning and evening. Furthermore, he was swarmed by fans looking for an autograph. It appears that at least, fans are unbothered by the allegations.

According to TMZ, the newest video they have obtained was shot at 12:40am on the morning of June 10. It shows McGregor and his alleged victim talking inside the Kaseya Center club. TMZ claims that this video was shot around 30 minutes after the victim claimed to have been raped by McGregor. McGregor’s attorneys have once again proclaimed the fighter’s innocence based on this evidence. “”While the claimant’s story has changed yet again,” Barbara R. Llanes said in a statement, “our account of the evening has never changed. This video only reinforces our position. We look forward to the swift conclusion of the investigation.”

However, the alleged victim’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell, has provided a different side to the story. She claims that the new video shows the pair “visibly awkwardly interacting”. The woman reported the assault on the morning of June 11. She was reportedly encouraged to retain an attorney by a police officer whom she spoke to at the time. In Mitchell’s letter, which was sent earlier this week, the attorney lays out her client’s preferred method of restitution. According to Mitchell, her client is seeking a settlement as opposed to litigation. The letter reportedly did not specify the amount of damages being sought.

McGregor had a fairly prominent role in Game 4 of the Finals. As well as attending the game, he was scheduled to do an advertisement for a brand of pain relief spray. It’s been a busy few weeks for MMA veteran Conor McGregor. He is currently appearing as a coach on Season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. However, things are going poorly as his team of young fighters has been repeatedly outclassed by Michael Chandler’s stable of more experienced veterans. Fans are still eagerly awaiting the announcement of the expected fight between Chandler and McGregor. It would be McGregor’s first fight since an injury and back-to-back losses to Dustin Pourier in 2021. Jake Paul has also singled out McGregor as a future fight target after his bout his Nate Diaz in August.

Then came his viral moment during the NBA Finals. While promoting a pain relief spray during Game 4 in Miami, McGregor did some real damage to Burnie, the Miami Heat’s mascot. Is Jake Paul a good boxer? It’s a debate that still ranges in sports circles. Despite being 6-1 in his career, Paul’s record comes with a lot of caveats. His first two fights came against a YouTube and a retired NBA player. Then there came a pair of fights against retired MMA star Tyron Woodley. However, Woodley was making his pro boxing debut in the first of those two fights. That has been a common theme with Paul’s opponents. Even those who have experience as fighters (Woodley, Ben Askren, and Anderson Silva), none of them were seasoned boxers.

This became even more evident when Paul took on boxer Tommy Fury. It marked the first defeat of Paul’s career and showed that he had a long way to go against fighters who had made their career in the ring. However, that hasn’t stopped Paul, who is set to fight former UFC star Nate Diaz in August. Furthermore, Paul has been adamant about getting a chance to fight Conor McGregor in the future. Now, former Paul victim Ben Askren has opened up about his fight with Paul.

Ben Askren Underestimated Paul

Askren opened up about his fight with Paul on Daniel Cormier’s YouTube channel. “I didn’t think Jake Paul would beat Tyron [Woodley] or Anderson Silva. So yeah, I kind of think so. It sounded like fun [to box him] and I hoped he sucked. We didn’t know at that point! At that point, he only boxed a comedian or something and a basketball player. So we didn’t know nothing. I thought, ‘Oh, hopefully, this dude’s just a bum. He’s gonna try and hit me hard for a round, he’s gonna get tired, then I’m gonna beat him up.’ We didn’t know he was any good.”

Furthermore, Askren advocated for Paul to get the chance to fight Conor McGregor. “I think McGregor times Jake Paul makes everyone a lot of money and I think if he beats up Nate Diaz it makes a lot of sense. I don’t know what Conor’s contract is or what his relationship is with UFC where he can go get it done but I think a lot of people buy that fight. There’s a lot of casual fans who just want to see a boxing match and you know what, Jake Paul’s actually not bad at boxing, and maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better potentially, but he did beat Tyron, he did beat Anderson Silva.”

Jake Paul Makes Bold Claim About Conor McGregor Fight

Jake Paul has not been quiet about his desire to fight Conor McGregor. Despite preparing for a bout with Nate Diaz in August, Paul has said on multiple occasions that he wants his next fight after Diaz to be McGregor. However, it was only recently that McGregor responded to Paul’s comments.

When asked how he felt about Paul’s open challenge to fight him, McGregor called Paul “windy” and a “donkey” while also picking Diaz to win the August fight. Of course, Paul wasn’t going to let the slight go unanswered.

Paul Promises McGregor KO

Speaking on IMPAULSIVE, Paul did not holding back when responding to McGregor. “Guess what, Conor? I’ll beat the f****** f*** out of you and you can’t box as good as me. I’m gonna do to Nate what you couldn’t, which is knock him the f*** out. You’re gonna be sitting there with your new beer company that’s failing, drinking it, drunk as f***, realizing that you pissed your life away drinking at the end of the bottle. You’re gonna say, ‘Damn. I really thought no one was gonna do what I did in this sport. I really thought no one was gonna be as big of a name. I really thought I was gonna be the biggest forever.’ But you can’t choose and you can’t have both lives. You can’t have the fun, party, cocaine life, and be the greatest fighter in the world and you chose the wrong path.”

Paul continued. “That money fight will always be there and when I knock Nate Diaz the f*** out and you realize I’m the biggest fight for you, call me and I’ll answer. I’m my own boss, I make my own decisions. I’m not controlled by Dana White, I don’t have a dad. So, I can make the fight happen. If Dana lets you make the fight happen, then we can run it.” McGregor is 0-1 in ring boxing after a marquee fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017. However, he is 22-6 in an illustrious MMA career. Meanwhile, Paul is 6-1 in his professional boxing career and is coming off a loss to Tommy Fury in his most recent fight.
