Yung Gravy Isn’t Suing Festival After Taking A Nasty Fall

A few weeks ago Yung Gravy had what looked like a pretty serious fall during a performance. He was playing at Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival when he tripped over a wooden plank while addressing the crowd. Video of the incident went viral and given how particularly nasty the fall looked fans were curious what happened. In the days following he revealed that he suffered multiple fractures as a result.

Thankfully, he seems to be in good spirits and when TMZ caught up with him recently he filled in some more details. He told cameras that despite it being his own fault he tripped, that Hangout Festival was generously covering his medical bills resulting from the fall. This probably has something to do with his decision not to pursue any kind of legal action against the organizers of the Hangout Fest. The festival was the very first stop on Yung Gravy’s summer tour but despite his injuries he continued performing and hasn’t cancelled any shows. He’s set to appear at Lollapalooza, Bonaroo, BottleRock, and more festivals over the next few months.

Yung Gravy’s Painful Trip

Aside from Yung Gravy’s fall Hangout Fest seemed to go on without any other issues. Headliners like SZA, Lil Nas X, and GloRilla performed at the fest and fans online seemed to enjoy it. Yung Gravy is coming off a 2022 where he scored his biggest hit to date with “Betty (Get Money).” Unfortunately, the song’s prominent sample of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” might have cause more trouble for Gravy than it was worth. Earlier this year it went public that Gravy was being sued by Astley for his use of the song.

Yung Gravy dropped his 4th album “Marvelous” last year. Despite that, he has been busy in 2023 so far already releasing a number of tracks. Included in the bunch if the bbno$ featuring “Goodness Gracious,” as well as “Strawberries & Creamin’” which dropped just last week. Gravy also hopped on a remix of ARTAN’s TikTok hit “She’s A 10 But…” earlier this year. What do you think of the rapper’s choice not to sue Hangout Fest? Let us know in the comments below.

Skrillex Pauses Concert After A Fire Breaks Out On Stage

Skrillex has had a very busy 2023 releasing two albums and a number of remixes already. He also filled in as a headliner during week 2 of Coachella after Frank Ocean pulled out and delivered a Boiler Room-style EDM set alongside fellow artists Fred Again… and Four Tet. Just a few days ago Skrillex debuted a new remix of Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s hit song “Princess Diana” which Nicki herself seemed to enjoy.

During his performance at a different festival over the weekend, Primavera Sound, he had to briefly pause in the middle due to a fire. The show was paused for over 10 minutes after one of the lights on the stage above where Skrillex was standing caught on fire. Festival organizers lower the light and put it out with a handheld fire extinguisher. Fans in attendance shared dozens of videos of the fire to social media as soon as it happened.

Skrillex’s Scary Situation

After a quiet 2022, Skrillex has seemingly been everywhere this year. His two new albums “Quest For Fire” and “Don’t Get Too Close” have very different sounds but feature a number of high-profile collaborators. Missy Elliott, Swae Lee, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef, Don Toliver, Yung Lean, Justin Bieber, and many more appear as features on various songs from either album. Alongside all of these collaborations he’s worked and performed with breakout garage producer Fred Again… and micro-house legend Four Tet. The trio have reportedly been living together in New York since sometime last year.

Skrillex and company served as a last-minute addition to weekend two of Coachella following Frank Ocean’s controversial headlining set. The show left fans disappointed after it started late and ended early. For weekend two, the ice skating rink which was meant for Frank’s show was repurposed for Skrillex’s replacement show. It was one of dozens of festival spots the EDM superstar has played in 2023. It followed a series of tweets he made earlier this year explaining the personal reasons behind his absence. Watch the video of the on-stage fire and tell us what you think in the comment section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more updates.

21 Savage And His Kids Rock Out In The Car

21 Savage was recently joined by his children for a performance in his car. They serenaded social media in a clip shared yesterday, which got a lot of love from fans. In the video, the family shared their renditions of songs by Toosii, Tems, and more. They also sang along to their father’s song with The Weeknd, “Creepin’.” Though it’s likely fans won’t get a chance to see 21 Savage’s kids perform live any time soon, they can catch the rapper on his current tour with Drake this summer.

“This just made my heart smile,” one social media commented in response to the sweet clip. Another called it, “too cute.” The rapper and his children also performed a version of Lil Durk’s “All My Life,” featuring J. Cole, which he recently shared his thoughts on. He gave J. Cole credit for his contribution to the song, writing, “Cole just went so crazy on that verse wtf,” in May.

21 Savage’s Family

21 Savage also recently made a surprise appearance at the Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina. Drake brought him out onstage at the event, co-headlined by J. Cole. He performed “Knife Talk” and “Rich Flex,” and later shared behind-the-scenes photos from the fest of him with two of his children. “Dreamville was different,” he said in his post.

Drake and 21 Savage announced their It’s All A Blur tour in March, which features over 50 stops across the U.S. Drake revealed plans for the tour during a Twitch livestream, where he said, “Ah, man, I can’t wait to see the people.” He continued, explaining, “It’s like one thing to make the music but to see it is the most gratifying feeling. It’s different when you’re performing, you look out in the crowd, someone locks eyes with you and you can just tell it’s a moment.” At the end of last year, 21 Savage and Drake shared their collaborative LP, Her Loss, with fans.

NBA YoungBoy Sued Over 2019 Concert Incident

Being under house arrest is not preventing NBA YoungBoy from getting into more legal trouble. According to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the rapper is being sued over an incident at a 2019 concert. According to the lawsuit, the incident occurred while YoungBoy performed at The Ambassador on January 26, 2019. NBA YoungBoy has been serving a house arrest in Utah since October 2021.

Cayden Rutherford, the plaintiff in the case, claims that she suffered severe and life-changing injuries after being thrown from the stage at the concert. Rutherford alleges that she climbed on stage before being thrown off by an unspecified member of staff. She also alleged that she suffered multiple injuries after striking the venue’s concrete floor, as well as a broken cable. Rutherford claims she suffered a concussion, as well as injuries to her neck, back, and ankle. Furthermore, Rutherford claims that the physical and mental trauma of the incident still affects her today.

Lawsuit Points To History Of Stage Ejections

The lawsuit is largely one of negligence. As noted in the filed court documents, YoungBoy’s shows have something of a history of the rapper fighting fans and having them thrown off stage. According to the lawsuit, there were three incidents in Minnesota, Virginia, and South Carolina where a fan was physically thrown from the stage. All three incidents occurred prior to the 2019 show in St. Louis. As a result of this, Rutherford alleges that there should have been better supervision at the 2019 concert. The Ambassador, concert promoter Major Entertainment LLC and security company Elite Security, Protection & Services LLC are also named as defendants.

Rutherford is seeking undisclosed monetary damages from the four defendants. However, her attorney Brad Elkin declined to provide further comment to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Furthermore, attorneys for the defendants did not respond to requests for comment form the outlet. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Snoop Dogg And Dr. Dre Postpone Shows In Solidarity With Writers Guild

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre were scheduled to perform at the Hollywood Bowl later this month, however, they’ve announced that the shows are postponed. The two performances were set for June 27-28, and intended to celebrate the 30-year-anniversary of Snoop Dogg’s iconic Doggystyle album. According to sources, the artists didn’t feel right about performing amid the Writers Guild of America strike. The shows have now been rescheduled for October 20-21.

The two rappers also showed their support for the striking workers by sending food trucks to Paramount Studios earlier today. A sign on one truck read, “Bagels sponsored by Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.” The sign also states, “We stand in solidarity with the unions and are hopeful that the AMPTP will negotiate fair deals as soon as possible and everyone can get back to work.”

Artists Show Support For The WGA

MAY 23: Writers Guild of America (WGA) East members participate in a “Rally at the Rock” strike event outside of the NBCUniversal offices on May 23, 2023 in New York City. (Photo by Michael M. Santiago/Getty Images)

Earlier this month, Snoop shared how he supports the strike, suggesting that artists on streaming platforms should do the same. “[Artists] need to figure it out the same way the writers are figuring it out,” he explained, “The writers are striking because [of] streaming; they can’t get paid. Because when it’s on the platform, it’s not like in the box office.” He added, “That’s the main gripe with a lot of us artists is that we do major numbers. But it don’t add up to the money. Like, where the f*ck is the money?”

Various other big names have supported the WGA strike, including Lil Wayne, Drew Barrymore, Pete Davidson, and more. Last week, Lil Wayne showed his support for the WGA by sending a burger truck to feed the striking workers. Davidson brought pizza to the strikers earlier this month, while Barrymore stepped down from hosting the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards. She said, “Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home.” MTV supported for her decision, claiming to “have full respect for” her choice to pull out.

6ix9ine Performs In Front Of Massive Crowd In The Netherlands

Tekashi 6ix9ine remains exiled from the hip-hop community, at least in America. The rapper hasn’t really performed any shows in the States recently while his latest musical outings have been more infused with Latin sounds. And while his Spanish-language singles have apparently made a splash in the Latin world, they haven’t necessarily gained significant traction in the states. However, it seems as though the international market is where the bag is at for him these days.

The rainbow-haired rapper took his talents to the Netherlands this weekend for Freshtival. On Saturday, the rapper performed in front of a massive crowd where he dived into some of his biggest hits. Although fans did seem excited to see the notorious figure in the flesh, his attempt to stage dive didn’t necessarily play out the way he wanted it to. Otherwise, it seems like it could be the beginning of 6ix9ine’s formal return to the stage. “40,000 NETHERLANDS 🇳🇱 THANK YOU I LOVE YOU ❤ WHERE SHOULD I COME TO NEXT ?????????? COMMENT YOUR COUNTRY,” he captioned the post, along with a number of flags including Canada and Jamaica.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Return

Overall, it seems like Tekashi is still finding success in Europe these days. Besides his recently concert in the Netherlands, he recently performed in Romania. A clip of him performing his collab with Nicki Minaj, “Fefe” surfaced shortly after. Earlier this year, 6ix9ine also announced that he would be performing in Israel. Although he hasn’t announced any shows as of late, Bandsintown reports that his next scheduled performance will be in Denmark on October 27th.

Even though Tekashi 6ix9ine appears to be able to book shows again, things haven’t necessarily been entirely smooth for him this year. Earlier this year, the rapper got jumped while working out at a Florida gym. Footage emerged of three individuals entering an L.A. Fitness before attacking him inside of the gym’s sauna and bloodying his face. Ultimately, 6ix9ine used the moment to create even more viral content in response to the situation. Check out 6ix9ine’s video from his Netherlands performance above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Selena Gomez Confronts Beyonce’s Paris Concert’s Security

Everyone’s been going crazy at Beyonce’s RENAISSANCE tour, and her Paris show on Friday (May 26) might be her most eventful yet. Sure, there’s the spectacular concert itself spanning a lot of her best work, but the show also had quite a few famous faces show up. For example, her husband Jay-Z and Roc Nation-managed MC Megan Thee Stallion danced along to her hits and seemed to have a great time at the show. However, despite the many, many fans that went ecstatic when they saw her, it seems like Selena Gomez ran into more than that at the show. Furthermore, clips surfaced online of the actress having a heated discussion with security.

While it’s unclear what could’ve provoked this interaction, it does remind fans of another superstar that raised their voice at security at a massive concert. That time, though, it was the superstar themselves. During a Philly stop of her “Eras” tour (which is almost as in-demand and hyped as Quee Bey’s), Taylor Swift told security to get off of fans on the barricade. As such, many theorized that Selena Gomez was probably running into a similar situation, or at least something else that was hindering her experience or that of fans at the show.

Selena Gomez’s Brush With Security At Beyonce Show

In other Selena Gomez-related news, she recently had to deal with fans pitting her against Hailey Bieber, her ex’s wife. Fortunately, the two smoothed any speculated beef out and addressed fans who kept trying to incite problems between them. “I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I,” Hailey expressed on Instagram. “The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together.”

Meanwhile, maybe one day we’ll hear an explanation of what went down at Beyonce’s show. Still, you’ll find so many clips on social media of fans screaming for Selena and reaching their hands out to say hello as she walked past them. With that in mind, whatever happened with security is at least balanced out by the wave of admiration and love she surely felt. Regardless, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Selena Gomez and Beyonce’s RENAISSANCE tour.

Chance The Rapper Wants Suggestions For The Setlist For His “Acid Rap” Concert

Chance The Rapper fielded suggestions from fans for songs to perform at the upcoming concerts he’s holding in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Acid Rap. He says that he intends to run through the entirety of the iconic mixtape, but has time for a few more fan favorites from elsewhere in his discography.

“In addition to doing Acid Rap in full, I may do 3 or 4 songs at the concert that aren’t on there. Any suggestions?” One of the most liked suggestions was “Sunday Candy,” which he dropped alongside Nico Segal and The Social Experiment back in 2015 for their album, Surf. Other suggestions included “Prom Night,” “Summer Friends,” “Same Drugs,” “Juke Jam,” and more. “Way way back when I saw you in 2013 you did a cold play cover. That would be awesome again!” one fan wrote.

Chance The Rapper At The BET Awards

Chance recently reflected on the making of Acid Rap during an interview with Complex. He detailed just had bad his dependency on drugs was at the time. “I probably would have died,” Chance The Rapper remarked to the publication. “Definitely, the way that I was living at that time. I had everything in excess. Right after I dropped the project, I went on a few tours where I really didn’t make any money. Then I went on my first tour, my headlining tour, where I made some money.”

“If I hadn’t had my spirit tugged on- literally- and a calling to become a better version of myself, then I would have died for sure,” Chance continued later in the interview. “Then I would just be the representative of acid and I’m so much more.”

Chance The Rapper Fields Suggestions

As for Chance’s upcoming concerts, he’ll be performing in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City at various times throughout the year. The Chicago show is set for August 19 at the United Center. The New York show will take place on August 26 at the Barclays Center. Finally, the LA show is on September 21 at the Forum.

Finesse2tymes Blasts Promoter For Not Having Cash To Pay Him

There’s been a lot of news about Finesse2tymes in recent months. In March, there was a stampede at a concert hosted by him and GloRilla which killed three people. Then he started to beef with Erica Banks after the two had a short-lived fling. Additionally, the rapper revealed that he was in a relationship with three women. Furthermore, he has started to be seen out in public with all three women.

However, making money is harder than ever in the music industry. LL Cool J has spoken in recent weeks about the financial benefit of owning his masters. But often, artists trust and rely on the good faith of others to ensure they can make a living from their music. This goes doubly so for artists who rely on touring or performing in concert.

Finesse2tymes Says Show Couldn’t Pay Him

Finesse2tymes was scheduled to play a show in Clarksville, Tennessee. Clarksville is found in central Montgomery County and borders Kentucky. It is the fifth-largest city in the state. However, Finesse2tymes wasn’t able to give fans a good show due to one simple reason – the promoter didn’t have the money to cover the artist’s fee.

“They say don’t come to my shows etc etc,” the rapper wrote on Instagram, “But here’s a prime example on why I move the way I do. I get here to Clarksville tn and these folks don’t even got my backend. I’m more mad that I couldn’t give the people what they want. So sorry for the inconvenience Clarksville, TN. The promoters was broke as hell.” However, fans have not been sympathetic. Well look he getting a dose of his own medicine ijs, karma always comes back around & never expires,” one person commented on Instagram. People have not forgotten that Finessee allegedly sent his brother to perform in his place for a $40k payday.
