USHER Returns To Atlanta, Receives Phoenix Award & A Spot On Black Music And Entertainment Walk Of Fame

USHER has to be on cloud nine right about now. The legendary R&B singer put on the performance of a lifetime at Super Bowl LVIII this past weekend in Las Vegas. He was not alone during the show, as Ludacris, Lil’ Jon, Alicia Keys, and more, assisted him. It made it all more special and this one will be remembered for a long time. USHER also put a ring on his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Goicoechea, not too long after the big game. But, the wins just keep on coming for the multi-talent. Just yesterday, USHER had to catch a flight back to Atlanta, Georgia, to receive some pretty remarkable awards.

Atlanta is one of the many places that he has roots in, but this is where USHER got his career off the floor. So, it was only right that the city recognized him for the Phoenix Award. According to WSB-TV 2 Atlanta, it is a prestigious honor that recognizes an individual or group for their outstanding service to the city. USHER gave an impassioned speech to the crowd, giving props to the city for helping him find his way in life.

“Atlanta is a city of belief. Atlanta is a city that allowed me to be that Phoenix to rise. It is a city that has allowed me to have the tenacity to go out and share this culture that I found when I was here.” On top of that, the Black Entertainment and Music Walk of Fame unveiled his spot three years after he was a part of the inaugural class. Mayor Andre Dickens, who was in attendance, thanked USHER for representing Atlanta with pride at the Super Bowl. “The whole world got to see that Usher brought the world to the A.” The final cherry on top was that Fulton County decided to name February 14 “Usher Day.” The man is back everybody.

What are your thoughts on USHER getting his flowers from the city of Atlanta? Do you think he should have received the Phoenix Award sooner? Was his Super Bowl performance a top 10 Halftime Show of all time? Is COMING HOME one of his best albums ever, why or why not? What songs have you added to your rotation? B.G.’s Prison Release Conditions: Drug/Alcohol Treatment, Community Service, GED, And More

43-year-old B.G. is likely pleased to have regained his freedom after spending the past 11 years behind bars. Still, that doesn’t mean his time is completely his own going forward. According to TMZ, there’s a lengthy list of requirements that the New Orleans native has to follow through with if he wants to remain out of prison going forward. He’ll be spending the next two years under supervised release. During that time, he’ll be expected to participate in a drug/alcohol treatment program.

In addition to this, B.G. – born Christopher Noel Dorsey – will be attending courses geared toward people hoping to “better orient [their] life skills.” It seems the embattled artist will be spending plenty of time in the classroom as well. He’s been ordered to “actively pursue a GED or vocational training equivalent in order to better set him up for future employment.” Of course, he confirmed after being released on Tuesday (September 5) that he’ll have new music on the way in the near future. As a result, it’s unlikely we’ll see B.G. transitioning into an office role anytime soon.

B.G. is Enjoying His Newfound Freedom

Another task on the “Bling Bling” hitmaker’s list is 400 hours of unpaid community service. We’re curious to see how he’ll choose to serve these. As expected, B.G. is also prohibited from possessing firearms and dangerous weapons. He’s expected to cooperate with his probation officer’s requests to collect any DNA as needed. Life certainly won’t be the same as before for the lyricist. Regardless, we’ve seen others work their way up in the industry after serving time in the past, so anything is possible for Dorsey.

Returning back to society after such a long time in prison is a daunting task. Thankfully for B.G., he has some of the biggest names in music standing behind him. Birdman, of course, has been a solid source of support, though we also heard Gucci Mane make a major financial promise to the Cash Money artist at the end of 2022. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Latto Gets Gun Charge Dismissed After Community Service

It looks like Latto can finally move on with her life. The “Put It On Da Floor” rapper had a charge related to a gun dismissed. However, it was only after she finished a gun safety course and more than 100 hours of community service. According to TMZ, her case was dismissed on Tuesday by the L.A. County Superior Court. The charge was related to an incident in May 2021 at Los Angeles International Airport. Latto was accused of carrying a loaded concealed firearm. The judge ordered her to complete a safety course and perform 120 hours of community service. The rapper also had to steer clear of firearms. It would appear she has now accomplished all of this.

Latto’s lawyer released a statement about the matter, expressing that it was a favorable outcome. “I am extremely pleased with the outcome and glad my client can move forward with her flourishing career,” Latto’s attorney said. Latto, however, had previously denied a story that she was “close” to completing her community service hours. “Idk who put out that false ass information cause I’m not in no damn program,” she said after the news broke. “Also the situation happened over a year ago & y’all never even knew until I mentioned it in the Boom pt 2 verse. Nun to ‘brag’ about. Leave me alone.”

Latto Is a Houswife, Not a Gangster

After making a statement about the story on her Twitter, Latto took to Instagram live to talk further about it. According to the rapper, she is not trying to push any kind of gangster image. “That sh*t blowing me,” she said. “B*tch I’m just letting you know you got the story wrong. I’m not gangsta, b*tches, never claimed to be gangsta. I’m not gangsta. Baby I get money, the f*ck? I got a n***a who suck these toes every night, eat this a*s from the back. I cook, I’m a whole housewife I’m not no gangsta. The f*ck?” It seems that Latto didn’t like people interpreting her having a loaded gun at an airport as her being gangster.

The rapper continued, letting people know that she just wanted to move on from the whole situation. “Who wanna brag…I got million dollar deals. Like plural. Multiple million dollar deals on the table. The f*ck? I’m not trying to push no f*cking gangster image, the f*ck?” she said. “As a matter of fact, we kept that sh*t under wraps. This sh*t over a year ago. We kept this sh*t under wraps. I mentioned it in a song cause I was freestyling that verse, and it slipped out my mouth.” What do you think of Latto’s attitude toward the situation? Sound off in the comments!

Cardi B Calls Community Service A “Spiritual Journey”

Cardi B says that her time doing community service has been a “spiritual journey.” Cardi reflected on the experience in a tweet posted on Saturday afternoon. The mandated service stems from a plea deal Cardi accepted regarding a 2018 strip club brawl in Queens, New York. Two bartenders at Angel’s Strip Club alleged that Cardi ordered an attack on them because she believed her husband Offset had had an affair with one of them.

“Community service has been the best thing that has happened to me. Almost like a spiritual journey because sometimes I leave these centers in tears. Those people that we leave behind they just need somebody to talk and a lil push and YOU might be able to change their life forever,” Cardi tweeted. It isn’t the first time she has mentioned the experience on Twitter. On Friday she shared a selfie while writing, “My brains are burning from waking up early, community service then studio….but I did the crime ‘I only have myself to blame.’”

Cardi’s “Spiritual Journey”

Cardi accepted the guilty plea in September, receiving two misdemeanor charges of assault in the third degree and reckless endangerment. The victims also received a three-year order of protection from Cardi. “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions. As a mother, it’s a practice that I am trying to instill in my children, but the example starts with me. I’ve made some bad decisions in my past that I am not afraid to face and own up to,” Cardi said at the time in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “These moments don’t define me and they are not reflective of who I am now. I’m looking forward to moving past this situation with my family and friends and getting back to the things I love the most — the music and my fans.”

Cardi has until March 1 to complete her service hours. The original deadline was last month, but she had it extended. It’s unclear exactly what service she’s doing, but she’s mentioned working with veterans on Instagram Live.

Cardi B Turns Up During Community Service, Says She’s Back In The Studio

If there’s one thing you can always count on Cardi B to do, it’s turn up. For the past few days, much of the rap diva’s time has been spent serving court-ordered community service. She was previously sentenced to 15 days after taking a plea deal. She ultimately failed to meet the requirements earlier this year but thankfully, she was granted an extension by the judge. Now she has until the end of February to finish her sentence.

In her usual style, the Grammy Award winner has been showing up to work in designer duds, documenting many of her outfits for followers on Twitter. In nearly every upload, she’s been reminding users to “obey the law,” and not make the same mistakes she has. Since it went down in 2018, Cardi has been able to do plenty of reflecting on the infamous strip club brawl that landed her in court.

As DailyMail reports, the 30-year-old and her crew were accused of targeting Angels Strip Club employees over a personal dispute. Prosecutors say that Cardi asked eight people to visit the Flushing, Queens establishment and assault two sisters, Baddie Gi and Jade. A plea deal was rejected by the New Yorker in 2019. Following that prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury. At that time, they also obtained an indictment with two felony charges.

“The victims allegedly had glass bottles hurled at them, alcoholic drinks thrown in their faces and one woman’s head was slammed into the bar,” attorneys alleged while setting the scene. When all was said and done last year, Cardi wound up pleading guilty to two misdemeanour charges. She got off nearly scot-free, as a whopping ten other counts (including the aforementioned two) were dismissed.

Cardi B’s Community Service Style

Ahead of the weekend, the “Hot Shit” hitmaker checked in with Twitter to reveal yet another OOTD. “My brains are burning from waking up early,” she wrote in the caption. “Community service then studio… But I did the crime, ‘I only have myself to blame,’” she added. Fans were obviously pleased to see her look, but what’s really creating a buzz is Cardi’s confirmation that she’s back in the studio.

Fans have been waiting for the follow-up to her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, since 2017. If we’re lucky, maybe the fashionista will have her sophomore project on DSPs before the end of the year. Cardi B Has A Message For Fans Amid Community Service

Cardi B’s 2018 strip club fiasco continues to interrupt the Bronx superstar’s downtime well into the new year. Although Belcalis had major charges dropped—two of which were felonies—the misdemeanor charges she pled to last September put her in community service. Cardi has been documenting her 15-day sentence on Twitter, and by the looks of her latest post, it hasn’t been the easiest thing to endure. The judge gave her an extension to finish the time after she skipped it the first go around.

“Day whatever the f**k of community service…” the mother of two tweeted a few hours ago. The picture, a selfie, shows the rapper rocking a Chanel hat and form-fitting clothing. “Obey the law !!!!“ Cardi B shared this exact statement one month ago when she shared a photo in front of the same mirror. Donning designer, the platinum-selling artist gave us a look into her second day on the court-ordered job. There’s no word on how much longer she has to complete the service.

Cardi B: “Obey the law!!!!”

Aside from her seemingly strenuous court ordeal, Bardi still seems to be on a high from V-Day. Her and husband Offset collaborated with McDonald’s to put out their own meal, inspired by their usual orders of burgers and fries. The “Cardi B & Offset Meal” became the 7th most searched term on Google that, capping at over 100,000 searches. They followed up with a conjoining commercial, a cutesy ad aired during last Sunday’s Super Bowl. Moreover, they’ve released their own Mickey D’s merchandise, a slight nod to Travis Scott, the first to do so.

There are still a few hours left to cop some of the cozy knits at cardiboffset.com. In addition to hats, the site carries shorts, hoodies, and tees as the cursor follows you around with emojis. Cardi B also hinted there’s more to content coming from the couple’s McDonald’s deal on Twitter in a recent post, too. Since then, she’s shared more photos of the couple dressed up for their value meals on Instagram. The romanticized adult happy meal—including customized Cardi and Offset cups and bags—is available while supplies last.

Cardi B Shares Community Service Selfie: “Obey The Law”

One thing about Cardi B? She’s always going to manage to keep us laughing. Even though she’s in some legal trouble after failing to complete her 15-day community service sentence, the mother of two still got an extension from the judge – and was looking fabulous while doing it.

Earlier this month, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper found herself back in court. After pleading guilty to misdemeanour assault charges last fall, she had to complete half a month’s worth of public aid. It remains unclear specifically why she failed to meet the requirement. However, it’s been said that mourning Takeoff’s untimely death may have had something to do with it.

Thankfully, Cardi now has until March 1st to finish her sentence. If she failed to follow through this time, jail could be in the cards. Needless to say, the 30-year-old wasn’t willing to take that risk.

On Friday (January 20) morning, the Bronx baddie shared a mirror selfie flaunting her luxurious outfit of the day. Her long black hair is worn down in loose waves, and a ribbed, beige sweater hugs her curves. Bardi’s bottom half is clad with patchwork jeans and a pair of Margiela Tabi boots.

“Second day of community service,” she wrote in the caption. “Obey the law.” By the goofy look on the Grammy winner’s face, you can tell that she’s doing her best to make light of the situation.

While her Twitter feed has obviously been active today, it’s been a few days since Cardi posted on her Instagram. Earlier this week, she dropped off a photo dump that finds her in hot pink glam with glamorous honey-blonde hair.

Jason Lee appears in some of the later photos. The Invasion of Privacy artist is the first guest to appear on his new REVOLT podcast. During their interview, the fashionista got candid about her own plastic surgery journey, as well as what celebrities she’s gotten recommendations from.

Additionally, Cardi B revealed how she and Offset found out about Takeoff’s passing. Read more about that here, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Cardi B’s Strip Club Attack Takes Her Back To Court, Rapper Skipped 15 Days Of Community Service

Cardi B got off relatively easy in court when it came to her infamous 2018 strip club brawl. Last September, the mother of two and her co-defendants pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour charges. At the same time, they saw the dismissal of ten other counts – two of which were felonies.

As a punishment, the Invasion of Privacy artist’s sentence requires she complete 15 days of community service. In a statement following her day in court, Bardi said, “Part of growing up and maturing is being accountable for your actions.”

Unfortunately for her, the New York native was unable to walk the walk. After failing to finish her sentence, Cardi B found herself in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday (January 17). As per usual, she looked incredibly glamorous, sporting a tight white dress, oversized fur coat, and matching Dior sunglasses.

It remains unclear exactly what the 30-year-old said to the judge. However, it’s possible Takeoff’s recent passing is part of the reason she was unable to fulfill her commitment. In the weeks since the Migos member’s untimely death, she’s been doing her part to take care of her husband, Offset, and their kids.

Thankfully for Cardi, she was given one last chance to get her community service done. According to Daily Mail, she has until March 1 to get her days in, or she could face jail time.

In a statement to the outlet, the entertainer’s lawyer, Drew Findling shared his client’s thoughts on the situation. “Personally and professionally, Cardi is dedicated to community service and charitable endeavours,” he said. “She therefore appreciates the court giving her until March 1st to complete her community service commitment in Queens, New York.”

In other news, Cardi B sat down with Jason Lee as the first guest on his new podcast. They got candid about everything from her past with plastic surgery, to how she reacted to the news of Takeoff’s death in December.
