Sam Smith Teams Up With Jessie Reyez & Koffee For Upbeat Single “Gimme”

Sam Smith came through with a bop to dispel the winter blues.

The “Latch” singer shared their new single, “Gimme” this week, a collaboration alongside Jessie Reyez and Koffee. The three artists come through with a Caribbean-influenced record that already took off on TikTok due to a previously released short snippet. “Gimme” is undoubtedly a club-friendly bop that takes notes from the vibrant dancehall sounds.

The “My Oasis” artist explained they created the song alongside Jessie Reyez during a drunken night in Jamaica.

“I’m a sexual person, I like sex. It’s something I’m teaching myself to not be ashamed of,” they said in a statement about the song. “Me and Jessie were basically drunk, drinking whisky in Jamaica, two in the morning, running around absolutely wasted, like two girlfriends having a laugh.”

The upcoming single is expected to appear on the “Pray” singer’s forthcoming album, Gloria. “Gimme” follows the release of “Night Before Christmas” and Smith’s “Unholy” ft. Kim Petras, which later led to a flurry of remixes. In April, they shared the first single off of the project, “Love Me More.”

Later this year, Sam Smith and Jessie Reyez will hit the road on the former’s headlining, Gloria The Tour. The tour launches on July 25th in FTX Arena in Miami before closing out in Cuidad de Mexico, MX on Sept. 14th.

Hit-Boy Teases Offset Collaboration Dropping This Week

Hit-Boy hinted at having a song with Offset dropping later this week in a post on Instagram. Sharing a pair of photos of the two together, Hit-Boy simply wrote the date January 13, 2023.

When released, the song will be the first new music from Offset since the death of his Migos partner, Takeoff. The rapper was shot and killed in Houston back in November.

As of the end of November, Cardi B had stated that Offset hadn’t begun recording new music. During a spat with comedian Nicole Arbour, she explained that he was still mourning at the time.

The other member of Migos, Quavo, dropped his first song since Takeoff’s passing earlier this month. On the track, “Without You,” he reflects on the death of Takeoff, who is his nephew.

“I wish I had a time machine, just so you could take a ride with me,” Quavo sings on the song.

As for Hit-Boy, the iconic producer has more music on the way in addition to his work with Offset. Last week, he confirmed on social media that he and Musiq Soulchild are releasing a collaborative album together. The project will be titled Victims & Villains, a name Musiq Soulchild explained on Bill Bellamy’s Top Billin’ podcast.

“[It] is designed to address the topic of the challenges we all deal with in relationships, but I’m approaching it from a slightly different angle than I used to,” Musiq Soulchild said. “It’s more abstract, at the same time direct.” He continued, “A lot of people don’t realize which one they are; they think they’re one when they’re the other.”

SZA Labels Lizzo Her “Fave” During HBO Special

SZA praised Lizzo as one of her favorite artists during the HBO Max special, Lizzo: Live in Concert. The remark comes after SZA teased a collaboration on the deluxe version of her recent album, SOS.

“This is my fucking fave,” SZA said on the program. “Make some noise for my fucking fave, Lizzo.”

“This is unreal,” she added. “Thank you so much for even just being my friend. I love you, you’re special.”

SZA and one of her producers, Rob Bisel, previously discussed working with Lizzo during a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

“There’s definitely a handful [of tracks with Lizzo]. I don’t want to incriminate myself here, but there’s some stuff floating around for sure,” Bisel revealed of the deluxe edition of SOS.

SZA added: “We just have so much fun together. And I feel like she gets me. She’s another person who has hella music tastes and doesn’t fit in anybody’s box of anything. She makes it seem like she doesn’t even care like she just does whatever she wants. And I just love being with her, just as a friend and hanging out. So whenever she comes to a studio, I just feel like, ‘Let’s drop into some bullshit.’”

SZA released SOS, last month, as her first studio album since 2017’s Ctrl. After release, she revealed Lizzo actually makes a subtle appearance on the song, “F2F.” She’s also credited with co-writing the track.

SZA has said that Lizzo appears on her song, “The Boy From South Detroit,” which is likely to land on the deluxe version of SOS.
