Tyga Recalls Being Removed From Pop Smoke Song Due To A “Conflict”

Tyga says that he was once cut from a Pop Smoke song due to a “conflict” with another artist. He spoke about the incident during his latest appearance on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson.

“We had did two records before he passed and then one of them – it was a conflict on it so I was like, ‘It’s cool, take me off of it. I ain’t tripping.’ Somebody else didn’t want me on the song right … another artist,” Tyga explained. “So I was like, ‘It’s cool. I ain’t tripping. Whatever, let’s just do something else.’ And he was cool like that.”

Unfortunately, Tyga continued to say that Pop Smoke passed away before the two could finish the final song together. He added that they intended to put Karol G on the track.

He went on: “And we did another song and then we finished it, but we didn’t finish the final song because he had passed right before the album came out. But he had text me, like, ‘Yo I wanna put a Latin artist on, a female artist. Who do you think?’ And I was like that we should put Karol G on it, because at the time I was like, ‘Karol G’s poppin. Let’s put her on it!’ So we end up putting her on it for that album.”

From there, he discussed the making of their collaboration, “West Coast Shit,” with Quavo.

“And then I did another song with him and Quavo that they did that I hopped on later,” he added. “And then the record ‘Sunshine’ was a song that he did. My boy used to do all his A&R stuff, so he did a record for him and then he had the verse and we just put him on there and it just made sense.”

Before moving on, Tyga compared Pop Smoke to another legendary New York rapper.

“He was outta here, bro, he was different, bro,” Tyga said, before adding, “he was a star – his whole vibe. He definitely woulda changed rap as far as like, what it feels now. It’s almost like when 50 came out and was super gangsta but then he started doing melodies, he started doing those records and those records became bigger. I feel like Pop Smoke too – his melodic records is bigger than his street songs.”

CEO Trayle Enlists Baby Drill For His New Single “Brody Trippin’”

CEO Trayle and Baby Drill locked in for a brand new banger.

Trayle and Baby Drill joined forces this week for their new collaboration, “Brody Trippin.” The two rappers connect over warped, icy production with a pulsating bass that feels intended to rattle club speakers. The chemistry between the two rappers is undeniably infectious as they trade bars and complement each other’s delivery with contrasting styles.

CEO Trayle undoubtedly kept his foot on the gas throughout the past 12 months. In 2022, he dished out four projects: The Collection, Stay Dangerous, Happy Halloween C4, and most recently, HH5. His latest body of work includes appearances from Fast Money Ant and C4.

As for Baby Drill, he’s currently shaping up to have a hell of a year following his rise in 2022. In October, the rapper unveiled his latest body of work, Drill Season (Extended). The 18-song project included appearances from artists like Latto and G Herbo. He gained even more momentum when he linked up with Young Nudy on “Duntsane.” However, he closed out the year with high praise from Drake, who co-signed Drill’s music during a Stake stream.

“I’ve been listening to a lot of Baby Drill for meditation,” Drake said during the stream.

Hopefully, we’ll see Trayle and Baby Drill link up again later this year.

Peep “Brody Trippin” below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. We’ll keep you posted on any more releases from the two artists.

Pharrell Says He Wants To Work With De La Soul

Pharrell says that he’d “do anything” to work with the legendary rap group, De La Soul. The comments, which Pharrell made during an interview with The Guardian, come as De La Soul’s catalog is finally coming to streaming services.

The topic of working with De La Soul came up when the outlet asked Pharrell to name an album, past or present, that everybody needs to hear.

“All of De La Soul’s stuff is being re-released,” Pharrell said, before naming 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul Is Dead. “Even when they were going through all their stuff, Damon [Albarn] from Blur put them on the Gorillaz albums, because he gets it. He knows those guys are responsible for making so many of us misfits feel like we actually fit.”

“The De La tribe were the forefathers and founders of the way we see things,” he continued. “I was nearly 16 when 3 Feet High and Rising came out. It was a total gamechanger. It changed my life, period. Would I like to work with them? I would do anything for them, they know that. If they don’t, they should.”

The band announced earlier this month that their music would be hitting DSPs on March 3, 2023.

“We can’t believe this day is finally here,” the band said in a statement. “And we are excited to be able to share our music with fans, old and new”.

Pharrell also stated that he wants to get in the studio with Playboi Carti. He says that a collaboration between the two is “overdue.”

“It’s always based on a vibe,” he said of how he decides on his collaborative efforts. “I like Playboi Carti. I think we’re overdue.”

Armani White & Denzel Curry Are “GOATED” On New Collab

Armani White has another bop on his hands with his latest single, “GOATED.”

After a meteoric rise at the tail end of 2022, thanks to the success of “Billie Eilish,” the rapper kicked off the new year with a new collab alongside Denzel Curry. The two rappers deliver a high-energy banger that’s just as playful as his breakout hit but much more fitting to hear in a strip club The bass-heavy production, handled by July Da Producer and Myles Williams, is simple yet effective, providing room for the “Flip” rapper’s animated flows and witty bars to shine. At the same time, White also showcases his melodic side even further without taking away from the essence of his bars.

Denzel Curry’s militant flow sharply contrasts the airy melodies from White’s bridge. He walks on the beat with ease but the song also provides an opportune time for Curry to pop his sh*t. “How many times can I tell you I’m GOATED/ Without niggas actin’ like they do not know it?” Curry raps.

The song arrived with a new music video featuring a cameo from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Armani White’s about to have an incredible year ahead of him. With “Billie Eilish” remaining in steady rotation, the release of “GOATED” further showcases his versatility. Not only can he craft an infectious hit record but his skillset isn’t to be slept on, either.

White’s earned some massive co-signs following the success of his breakout hit. He joined N.O.R.E. at the BET Hip Hop Awards for an impeccable performance. Then, he closed out the year out with an energetic set during ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.

Check out his new single below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.

Sam Smith Teams Up With Jessie Reyez & Koffee For Upbeat Single “Gimme”

Sam Smith came through with a bop to dispel the winter blues.

The “Latch” singer shared their new single, “Gimme” this week, a collaboration alongside Jessie Reyez and Koffee. The three artists come through with a Caribbean-influenced record that already took off on TikTok due to a previously released short snippet. “Gimme” is undoubtedly a club-friendly bop that takes notes from the vibrant dancehall sounds.

The “My Oasis” artist explained they created the song alongside Jessie Reyez during a drunken night in Jamaica.

“I’m a sexual person, I like sex. It’s something I’m teaching myself to not be ashamed of,” they said in a statement about the song. “Me and Jessie were basically drunk, drinking whisky in Jamaica, two in the morning, running around absolutely wasted, like two girlfriends having a laugh.”

The upcoming single is expected to appear on the “Pray” singer’s forthcoming album, Gloria. “Gimme” follows the release of “Night Before Christmas” and Smith’s “Unholy” ft. Kim Petras, which later led to a flurry of remixes. In April, they shared the first single off of the project, “Love Me More.”

Later this year, Sam Smith and Jessie Reyez will hit the road on the former’s headlining, Gloria The Tour. The tour launches on July 25th in FTX Arena in Miami before closing out in Cuidad de Mexico, MX on Sept. 14th.
