A big step in the relationship between Coi Leray and her father, Benzino, went down this weekend at Rolling Loud. Benzino was present at Leray’s Saturday set and viewed his daughter perform for the first time.

Following the performance, Benzino spoke with Power 106 LA. “She’s amazing. Like for real, no bullshit. I love her. Seeing her like that, You can say I’m biased, but honestly, like, I don’t see nobody else doing that. She’s amazing, man.”

Coi Leray’s latest album, Coi, moved 10,000 units in the first week, debuting at #102 on the Billboard 200. With the number hitting the timeline, Coi Leray celebrated the release.

“Grateful to have an album on the top 200 for my first week of my album release, again,” Leray wrote. “This time with 3 hits on the Hot 100 … woah 🤯. I’m super proud of myself. Bigger and better year every time. Keep streaming #COI … It’s an AMAZING project!”

Coi Leray unleashed her highly anticipated self-titled COI album through Uptown Records/Republic Records. This sophomore project consists of 16 captivating tracks exemplifying Coi’s growth and versatility as an artist.

Setting the tone for the album are the infectious beats of her first three singles, “Run It Up,” “Bops,” and “My Body,” which provide listeners with a glimpse into Coi’s expansive creative range and genre-defying sound. With her self-titled album, Coi proudly showcases her vocal capabilities alongside her famous flow, delivering an eclectic mix of tracks that leave a lasting impact.

Notable among the album’s standout tracks is “Get Loud,” an opportunity for listeners to fully experience Coi’s unique sound and artistic talent. Collaborating with esteemed producers, musicians, and songwriters like David Guetta, Saucy Santana, and James Brown, Coi has crafted an album that demonstrates her creativity and positions her as a chart-topping artist.

Throughout 2023, Coi has been on a remarkable trajectory, achieving chart-topping success with her platinum-certified smash hit “Players” and captivating audiences with her performances at major festivals such as Rolling Loud California, Austin City Limits, and Summer Jam. She has also secured coveted spots on Jay-Z’s Made in America lineups and Kid Cudi’s Moon Man’s Landing. Additionally, Coi has lent her voice to the WNBA’s “More Than Game” campaign and made strides in the fashion industry through her collaboration with FENDI by Marc Jacobs for her highly anticipated Summer Capsule collection.

Coi Leray’s “Essence” Photo Shoot Shows How Much She’s Grown As An Artist

Since she first announced her sophomore album back in the spring, Coi Leray has been buzzing with excitement. Her debut, Trendsetter, hit DSPs a little more than a year before, and while it didn’t perform as well as expected commercially, it still turned many heads the Boston native’s way. She hasn’t had a hard time keeping them there since, from her energetic performances that put some of her contemporaries to shame to her often NSFW outfits at Fashion Weeks across the globe.

Unfortunately for Coi, her self-titled second album suffered a similar fate to its predecessor. Thankfully, the 26-year-old has kept a positive attitude after finding out she sold 10K album equivalent units during her first week out. Oldheads like Boosie Badazz showed the rising star plenty of love, even suggesting that she should’ve moved upwards of 100K. For her part, Leray continues to shine her light bright, most recently teaming up with Essence for a stunning photo shoot that shows the “Blick Blick” himaker at her best.

The first image Leray picked for her carousel puts the entirety of her toned midriff on display, along with some cheeky underboob. She confidently gazed off into the distance as the photographer snapped away, her beautiful face sporting a sultry, pink makeup look. Another outfit from the shoot had the Trendsetter channelling her inner diva, throwing her black hair into a curly, messy bun over rose-tinted shades and massive hoop earrings. She paired a dark-wash denim mini skirt with a bra top in the same fabric, as well as a cropped bomber jacket.

With the many thirst traps and stunning selfies Coi Leray has posted so far this Hot Girl Summer, it’s not surprising to find out she’s got many suitors sliding in her DMs. Among them is Power actor Gianni Paolo, who told TMZ he was left on read after sending a bold message to the rap diva recently. Coi Leray Left “Power” Actor Gianni Paolo’s Flirtatious DM On Read

The last high-profile relationship Coi Leray was in was with Pressa, though they went their separate ways some time ago. Prior to the Canadian, the “Bops” hitmaker was also linked to Blueface and Trippie Redd, proving that she doesn’t exactly have a type, though she does seem to be into fellow creatives – specifically rappers – and men with melanin. This was further confirmed during a new TMZ interview with Gianni Paolo, in which the Power actor revealed that Leray recently left him on read.

“Team single for life — unless it’s Coi Leray,” the 27-year-old told the outlet. “I mean she left me on read a couple weeks ago, which is cr*zy.” It seems Paolo didn’t take a subtle approach when shooting his shot with the Boston baddie. “I just said like, ‘You’re my wife’ — that’s the opening line always. So, I said that. [She] viewed that, viewed my whole story — and I was like damn,” he reflected while wearing a 50 Cent shirt and shades.

After facing rejection from Leray, Paolo shared the DMs with co-star Michael Rainey Jr., who said, “Damn, that’s cold.” Apparently, the Rhode Island-born star had been chatting with his crush the week before, but things suddenly went cold. Power producer Fif didn’t advise Gianni on the big move, but the latter did make it clear he’s down for the “Candy Shop” hitmaker to work some magic. “50 if you can set me up with Coi Leray, let’s go — let’s get it going,” he eagerly shared, noting that he already has an extravagant first date planned.

She may have left Gianni Paolo on read, but Coi Leray certainly didn’t give Boosie Badazz the same treatment when he showed support for her new COI album. Despite only selling 10K copies in its first week out, the Louisana native believes his young friend should have done numbers three times those with her sophomore effort. Coi Leray Shocks In See-Through Dress In Latest NSFW IG Photo Dump

Coi Leray has a lot to celebrate these days, and the sheer variety and eccentricity of her latest Instagram photo dump proves that point. Moreover, she featured some candid snaps and selfies, fan art, a personalized menu- and a picture of her in a see-through dress. Of course, a lot of people focused on that one in the comments section, as they ranged from lustful to shocked to indignant due to the fact that these posts usually get taken down. Regardless, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that the rapper’s fits turned heads. As such, she is as free as ever while showing off great style in the process.

In fact, it’s heartening to see her positive attitude and liberating social media presence amid a lot of clowning and hate. A lot of that came recently, as her sophomore studio album COI sold 10k copies in its first week, which many see as dismal sales. However, the Boston native kept her head up and expressed gratitude for the success she’s experiencing. Not only that, but even Boosie Badazz stepped in on social media to praise Coi Leray and chastise people for not getting the hype.

“Grateful to have an album on the Top 200 for [the] first week of my album release, again,” Coi Leray tweeted. “This time with three hits on the Hot 100… Woah. I’m super proud of myself. Bigger and better year every time. Keep streaming #COI. It’s an AMAZING project.” “@coileray_ SHOULD HAVE SOLD AT LEAST 100K THE FIRST WEEK,” Boosie posted on Twitter. “‘NOBODY RECENT GOT MORE HITS THAN HER’ either, this s**t rigged. CELEBRITY KIDS JUST GET HATED ON WHEN ITS TIME TO SWIPE. MFS BE HATERS [STRAIGHT] UP.”

Meanwhile, given her comments on over-saturation in the industry, maybe COI is an example of that downside. After all, an artist’s viral status and effective social media presence won’t always translate into album sales. That being said, the 26-year-old is one of those artists that puts into question which one of those is more important. Still, check out the post in the link below if you’d like. Coi Leray’s Outfit Honored Women In Rap During Her Busta Rhymes Tribute Performance At The 2023 BET Awards

Nearly nine minutes into Busta Rhymes’ head-spinning BET Awards 2023 performance around receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Coi Leray appeared on stage to deliver her top-1o Billboard Hot 100 hit “Players,” which she remixed with Rhymes earlier this year.

Instead of promoting her freshly released album, Coi, Leray layered a tribute within the tribute by rocking a black-and-white two-piece set boasting names of several other power women rappers such as Bia, Cardi B, Dej Loaf, Doechii, Doja Cat, Gangsta Boo, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Lola Brooke, Missy Elliott, Saweetie, and more still.

In addition to Leray, Busta’s tribute performance included accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award from Swizz Beatz and running through verses from “MOP’s ‘Ante Up’ and A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Scenario’ remixes, his verse from Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now,’ and his hits ‘Break Ya Neck,’ ‘Give It To Me,’ ‘New York Sh*t,’ ‘Touch It,’ and ‘Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,’ … [and] finished with his new song with BIA, ‘Beach Ball’ and a tribute to his Jamaican roots,” as recapped by Uproxx’s Aaron Williams.

Leray was nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, which Latto claimed, while “Players” was up for BET Her, which Beyoncé won with “Break My Soul.”

Coi Leray Celebrates All Female Rappers in Her 2023 BET Awards Outfit

Coi Leray was on hand at the 2023 BET Awards and performer “Players” as a part of the Busta Rhymes tribute as it samples his “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”

During the performance, Coi paid homage to all of the women rappers, from Nicki Minaj to Gangsta Boo, Yo-Yo to Latto, Def Loaf to Cardi B, and everybody in between in her two-piece. It was one of the latest calls for women’s rap unity.

Hip-Hop is in a drought, and that’s crazy considering we are in the middle of the monumental 50th-year celebration. With no specific end in sight, Coi Leray is looking to unify all the women in Rap for a chart-topping single. Tagging her message “#justanidea,” it certainly isn’t a bad one.

“Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year,” Leray wrote. “Calling all the female rappers to front. [Hear] me out. ladies night. Hip hop. Unity.”

She added, “Let’s make history with a number 1 … together .. with love.”

Coi Leray Says There Are No Friends In The Industry & Rap Is A Competition

Coi Leray recently sat down for an enlightening conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1’s Rap Life Radio. On it, they discussed a whole host of topics, ranging from her brand new sophomore album to industry relationships. While the Boston native remarked that a lot of industry people know each other and stay at least amicable, she doesn’t believe that there are any true friendships in the industry. Rather, it’s still a competition at the end of the day, but she didn’t seem to suggest so in a disloyal or backstabbing manner. Instead, Coi emphasized that this should be a friendly competition, and that genuine connections can form.

“I mean, look, the other side of it is, you know, everybody ain’t got to be friends, but we can all be positive,” Ebro remarked. “One thousand percent,” Coi Leray agreed. “Nobody’s friends, we don’t know each other in real life, you feel me? If we meet in person and, you know, we have a genuine relationship from there organically, then whatever. But I don’t think no one’s friends. I think, at the end of the day, it is a competition here, not everybody can be number one. But at the same time, it should be friendly competition. If we all on the same track team, and it’s time to race, and we practicing, I’m dusting you even though you my right hand. But it’s time to race, we got practice. But respectfully, you know? That’s how I look at it.”

Coi Leray’s Remarks On A Competitive Industry

Interestingly enough, another topic of conversation that came up in the interview was Latto’s line about the “Bops” hitmaker’s body on “Put It On Da Floor.” As she remarked on the situation and her reaction, she alluded to similar themes. “It’s not a sensitive conversation,” Coi Leray reflected. “I feel like it wasn’t more about the body, it was more of mentioning my name. I’m about positivity. For real. And I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. And not only that, I feel like the problem with our community today is we be so quick to try to change things but we don’t do nothing to actually change anything.

“So if we’re going to say we’re going to stop talking about bodies, then don’t mention anything about my body,” she went on. “Just period. Don’t compare me to nothing, don’t think about nothing. We’re not smoking on anything, it’s disrespect. And where I come from I just don’t like that. I don’t know, it’s starting to get old. The rap beefs are for the guys. You know, I don’t even think they should do it. Us artists, we kind of control the narrative. So if we just spend more time pushing that narrative we won’t give these headlines and these blogs no reason to go ahead and push this negative narrative. That’s something we got to come together on.” For more on Coi Leray, stick around on HNHH.

Coi Leray Gets Fans To “Get Loud” In New Music Video

Coi Leray’s sophomore album COI is finally here, and it’s got no shortage of energetic bangers and rap-dance crossovers. Moreover, the latest visual for one of those jams is here, bringing on soccer star Trinity Rodman for “Get Loud.” As far as the track itself, it borrows from a Jersey club-style rhythm mixed with anthemic horns and excited group vocals. Not only that, but the Boston native heats up the track with some boastful and emphatic verses that fit the melody and drum pattern quite well. Considering the wealth of music videos and singles we got as part of the album’s rollout, to see her continue to capitalize on this success is no surprise.

Furthermore, this is also far from the 26-year-old’s first crossover into the sports realm with her promotional material. For example, she worked with the WNBA for a campaign featuring her hit lead single, “Players,” further emphasizing female solidarity and teamwork. That certainly shows up in the “Get Loud” music video, where Rodman (USWNT forward) and others get invitations to a get-together via flyers. Coi Leray poses with a fancy car, of course, but also parties in the locker room as her peers dance to the track.

Coi Leray’s “Get Loud” Music Video

On that note of unity, the “Bops” hitmaker recently spoke about that when addressing Latto’s mention of her in her latest hit single. “It’s not a sensitive conversation,” Coi Leray told Ebro. “I feel like it wasn’t more about the body, it was more of mentioning my name. I’m about positivity. For real. And I wasn’t sure where it was coming from. And not only that, I feel like the problem with our community today is we be so quick to try to change things but we don’t do nothing to actually change anything.

Coi Leray Claps Back At 2021 “XXL” Freshman Cypher Critics: “Clearly IDGAF”

Thankfully for Coi Leray, being the daughter of a celebrity taught her plenty about life in the spotlight. She and Benzino haven’t always seen eye to eye, but the Boston native’s resilient attitude definitely comes from him. It’s only been a few years since her career first took off. Already she’s given us two LPs, the second of which hit DSPs today (June 23). Leray has been undeniably excited to share her work with the world. However, that doesn’t mean she didn’t have time to clap back at trolls on Twitter earlier this week.

Upon seeing a post declaring her 2021 XXL Freshman cypher as “the worst ever,” the “Blick Blick” hitmaker made it clear that she’s unbothered by the comments. “And the only one who Top 10 Global in the world right now with three songs on the Hot 100,” Leray cooly wrote. “This didn’t determine my journey, I always knew I was destined for greatness. Now look at me, swimming in hits, baby,” she continued.

Coi Leray Responds to Her Haters

From there, the black-haired beauty reminded some users to worry less about what others have to say about them. As for her? “Clearly IDGAF 🥰,” Coi finished her rant, earning a few thousand likes. As HipHopDX notes, she recently spoke with Ebro Darden on Apple Music about the polarizing cypher, admitting that freestyling isn’t her top strength. “I sit down, I started writing on pen and paper first of course, and then elevated to my phone and then on [my] laptop, just writing on the notes. But if I do freestyling, the most freestyle I’ll do is melody passes where I’m not even thinking,” she shared.

Elsewhere in the news, Coi Leray made a splash during fashion week earlier this month when she showed up to the Saint Laurent runway without a bra under her sheer black jumpsuit. She’s been known to turn heads with her outfits in the past, but this was arguably one of her raciest looks to date. See photos at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
