Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra (Rock Remix)’ Welcomes A Canadian Heavy Metal Band, And We’re Here For It

In the accompanying video for her latest single “Cobra,” Megan Thee Stallion illustrated shedding her past. In the song, she seemingly made several allusions to the aftermath of Tory Lanez’s trial and perhaps even her presumed ex, Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine, cheating on her. Not to mention, weeks before releasing “Cobra,” Megan Thee Stallion settled her years-long lawsuit against 1501 Certified Entertainment and became an independent artist (as reported by Billboard). In other words, can’t nobody tell Hot Girl Meg nothin’ right now.

But she just told her Hotties what’s next on Instagram. On Wednesday night, November 8, Meg released “Cobra (Rock Remix)” featuring Spiritbox, a Canadian heavy metal band, alongside a brand-new visualizer.

“Cobra” already had rock-charged undertones, but the remix predictably amps up the guitar riffs and adds a verse from Spiritbox’s lead vocalist Courtney LaPlante, who ethereally sings, “I am shedding my skin / I need to harden my heart / To protect myself from the pain / Leave me alone in the dark / I am shedding my skin / I need to harden my heart / To protect myself, but the pains remains within.”

Before “Cobra” dropped last Friday, November 3, Megan Thee Stallion warned Hotties against trying to predict the song’s sound because “y’all are not gonna be able to guess.” And it’s likely safe to assume that no Hottie had a Spiritbox remix on the bingo card.

Megan Thee Stallion "Cobra" Video Has Biggest 24-Hour YouTube Debut for a Female Hip-Hop Artist in 2023

Megan Thee Stallion is on fire, achieving a remarkable milestone with releasing her latest single, “Cobra.” The hip-hop sensation has officially claimed the title of the biggest YouTube video debut within 24 hours for any solo female hip-hop artist in 2023.

After dropping the music video at 12 am ET on Nov. 3, “Cobra,” directed by Douglas Bernardt, notched up an impressive 2.15 million views in just one day. This achievement pushed her ahead of Doja Cat’s “Demons,” which had previously held the record with 2.01 million views.

In addition to this YouTube record, “Cobra” also saw a surge in streaming success, amassing over 1.04 million streams on Spotify within the same 24-hour period. Notably, this release marked a significant moment for Megan Thee Stallion as it was her first independent drop under Hot Girl Productions, her independent music and entertainment venture.

The track also showcased Megan’s lyrical prowess and production involvement, with her collaborating closely with guitarist Diggy Lessard and producers Bankroll Got It, Shawn “Source” Jarrett, and Derrick Milano to create the dynamic beat of “Cobra.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s “Cobra” Thirst Traps Explain Song’s Meaning, She Goes Live With Life Updates

The Hotties have long wondered exactly what transpired between Megan Thee Stallion and Pardison Fontaine leading to their relationship’s demise. Neither party publicly addressed the situation – until this past New Music Friday (November 3), that is. Then, the Houston native shared a bombshell confession in her “Cobra” single, accusing the “Backin’ It Up” hitmaker of cheating on her. Falling victim to infidelity is hurtful enough, but according to Thee Stallion, she returned home to find Pardi receiving oral sex in her bed, which was an understandable cause to send him packing.

Fans have been expressing concern about Tina Snow’s dark lyrics online, but earlier this weekend, she went Live to assure us that she’s in a good place at this time. “It’s a Hot Girl Production, we’re independent,” she excitedly declared after distancing herself from 1501 Certified Entertainment. Later on during her stream, Thee Stallion declared, “I feel like I’m giving peace, love, tranquillity” before showing off her “ti**ies” on the NSFW dress she donned that day.

Jada Kingdom Defends Herself Amid Megan Thee Stallion “Cobra” Fallout

Megan Thee Stallion recently unveiled her new track “Cobra,” sparking quite a bit of drama in the process. On the song, she appears to call out a past lover for receiving oral sex from another woman where she sleeps. “Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d**k sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’,” she rhymes. Fans speculate that the person who cheated on her was her ex, Pardison Fontaine. This, of course, resulted in him receiving a great deal of backlash from Meg’s fans.

Jada Kingdom, Pardi’s new girlfriend, has also been receiving some hate amid the cheating allegations. Rumors are swirling that she’s the alleged other woman, making her a target for Meg’s loyal fanbase. Things only got messier when amid the debacle, social media users noticed that she posted a photo of some flowers sent to her by none other than Pardi.

Jada Kingdom Denies Being Who Pardison Fontaine Allegedly Cheated With

Now, Jada’s taken to Instagram to defend herself, shutting down rumors that she was who Pardi allegedly cheated on Meg with. “Sooo I guess i knew the lyrics before it dropped?” she began. “Right and I decided to post my flowers 8 hours before as a ‘hint, hint it’s me guys.’ HUH???? Why??? The internet is a special place. I know it’s gonna drive y’all cr*zy not to have someone specific to terrorize for y’all president but it wasn’t me.”

Jada’s post has done little to control the rumors. It appears as though at least Pardi isn’t too bothered by the cheating allegations, as he recently posted a simple clip in response. The clip in question features Future, stating, “it’s an evil world we live in.” How do you feel about the drama unfolding due to Megan Thee Stallion’s new song? What do you think of Jada Kingdom taking to social media to defend herself? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Megan Thee Stallion Sheds Her Past and Enters New Era with ‘Cobra’ Music Video

Megan Thee Stallion Sheds Her Past and Enters New Era with ‘Cobra’ Music Video

Words by: Jordyn Taylor

Megan Thee Stallion emerges from the depths of a venomous snake in her new drop, “Cobra.” In a glossy video directed by Douglas Bernardt, guitar riffs, and 808s adorn the rapper’s story about her time in the light recently and the hit her mental health has taken since.

This is her first self-funded release after her long-winded battle with her former label, 1501 Entertainment. She hit the ground running with Hot Girl Production’s first single, serving us scales,

Baring herself in the single, Megan addresses what’s been happening recently, and it’s a lot. She opens up about her depression, admitting that she has dealt with suicidal thoughts and used drinking as a coping mechanism. Visuals of snakes and characters with phones out and stone faces symbolize the eyes on her while she is alone and at her lowest.

She sang: “Every night I cried, I almost died / And nobody close tried to stop me / Long as  / everybody gettin’ paid, right? / Everything’ll be okay, right? / I’m winnin’, so nobody trippin’ / Bet if I ever fall off, everybody go missin’”.

Fans also get an inside note on what may have happened between her and rapper Pardison Fontaine.

The star rapped: ‘Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*ck sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’’. The line points the finger at the rapper whom she broke off a three-year relationship with earlier this year.

This isn’t the first time that the Houston Hottie has spoken on mental health and her challenges. On her last album, Traumauzine, fans got closer to the rapper on tracks like “Anxiety,” noting the grief surrounding her and her late mother’s relationship.

In September of last year, she launched her mental health hub, ‘Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too.’ The platform lists resources for free treatment, crisis hotlines, and organizations that specifically assist the Black community, including therapy for Black women and men.

Both a mental health advocate and a rapper just keeping it real, Megan Thee Stallion has the world anticipating her next singles ‘hatching’ soon.

Is Megan Thee Stallion Signed To A Record Label?

Megan Thee Stallion begins her “Cobra” video by saying, “Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again” — the same message she used to tease the song on socials last week — and proceeding to crawl out from inside of a cobra. Objectively, the best part of an artist dropping new music is the race to subjectively decode what it all means, and in this case, the shedding of the cobra skin could very well symbolize Hot Girl Meg’s recently becoming an independent artist.

In October, Billboard reported that Megan Thee Stallion and her now-former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences,” which had lasted for over three years, and would “amicably part ways.” Days prior to the news publicly breaking, Meg hinted at it during an Instagram Live.

“Hotties — the real Hotties, not the Notties, kinda them, too — this part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan Thee Stallion,” she said, in part. “Y’all know what’s the tea. But I have no label right now. And we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets. So, the budget is coming from me. Motherf*cking Hot Girl Productions! The next sh*t y’all about to see about to be all straight from Megan Thee Stallion’s brain and Megan Thee Stallion’s wallet. We in my pockets, Hotties!”

As promised, “Cobra” was released under Hot Girl Productions LLC.

Who Is Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra’ About?

Megan Thee Stallion politely requested that her Hotties “stop trying” to guess what her next single, “Cobra,” would sound like because “y’all are not gonna be able to guess.” Within the same post, Meg also shared, “I spilled my guts on this song, I helped produce this song, I’m just so proud of it.” When “Cobra” arrived this morning, November 3, Hotties no longer had to guess about the song’s sonic contents, but now, they’ve shifted into hypothesizing who “Cobra” is about.

In the accompanying “Cobra” video, Megan Thee Stallion emerges from inside of a cobra after saying, “Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.” Once she’s standing on her own two feet, she shreds everyone who has done her wrong. If you’ve been paying attention over the last three-ish years, that’s a lengthy list.

Who Is “Cobra” About?

Disclaimer: We don’t know. We can’t know unless Megan Thee Stallion explicitly says whom “Cobra” is based upon. She’s endured an overwhelming amount of people projecting opinions onto her, especially after Tory Lanez was alleged to have shot her in her feet in July 2020.

That said, it would appear that the majority of “Cobra” finds Meg venting about how she navigated Lanez’s abuse toward her — evidenced by brave and vulnerable bars like “Breakin’ down, and I had the whole world watchin’ / But the worst part is really who watched me / Every night I cried, I almost died / And nobody close tried to stop it” or “Yes, I’m very depressed / How can somebody so blessed wanna slit they wrist?”

For reference, Meg testified during Lanez’s trial, in part, “I can’t even be happy. I can’t hold conversations with people for a long time. I don’t feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me, if I knew I would have to go through this torture” (as NPR relayed last December).

Lanez was found guilty on three felony counts (assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence) and is serving a 10-year prison sentence.

Additionally, there’s this: “Damn, I got problems / Never thought a b*tch like me would ever hit rock bottom / Man, I miss my parents, way too anxious, always cancel my plans / Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*ck sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’.” People were quick to assume that those bars were reserved for her ex, Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine.

Megan Thee Stallion is excited to be independently releasing “Cobra” (and her presumed forthcoming album — her first since August 2022’s Traumazine) after she and her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences” (as reported by Billboard). Megan Thee Stallion Fans Think She Claims Pardison Fontaine Cheated On Her On ‘Cobra,’ Her New Single

We’re at the start of a new era: At midnight last night, Megan Thee Stallion dropped her new single, “Cobra,” which is her first since since the end of the 1501 Certified Entertainment lawsuit. More than that, though, one thing fans are paying attention to in the wake of the new song is a line that appears to throw out an accusation of infidelity.

Megan starts the song’s second verse, “Ayy, damn, I got problems / Never thought a b*tch like me would ever hit rock bottom / Man, I miss my parents, way too anxious, always cancel my plans / Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*ck sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’.” So, the implication there is that Megan caught somebody being unfaithful to her and doing it in the bed that they shared.

After the song was released, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on the song, with many believing that the line is Meg accusing Pardison Fontaine of cheating on her.

It is believed that Megan and Fontaine broke up at some point in the first half of 2023. Meanwhile, starting in May, there were rumors that Megan was seeing soccer star Romelo Lukaku.

Pardison Fontaine Limits IG Comments Following Megan Thee Stallion Cheating Allegations, Fans Continue To Drag Him Online

Pardison Fontaine and Megan Thee Stallion used to be a music power couple of sorts. Overall, the two were going very strong and seemed to be enjoying life together. However, when the Tory Lanez trial happened, there seemed to be some sort of shift. There were reports that Pardi was uncomfortable with everything that was being revealed. Moreover, by Valentine’s Day of this year, it appeared as though the couple was basically finished with one another.

Now, things have taken a bit of a turn thanks to Meg’s return to the music world. Today, she dropped a new solo track called “Cobra.” Throughout this song, we get some very emotionally harrowing bars about how the artist has gone through so much mentally. She spoke about suicidal ideation and a plethora of other struggles. Moreover, she made the claim that Pardi cheated on her, in her own bed. She even recounts how she caught the alleged encounter as it happened.

Unfortunately for him, he cannot contain the rest of the internet. As it stands, Meg fans continue to weigh in on the situation, and they are all very upset with the songwriter.
