Last month, Cardi Breleased her new single “Like What (Freestyle).” It’s her first new song of 2024 and first since crossing over with Megan Thee Stallion on “Bongos” last year. The single has fans hyped for what she may deliver in 2024. It’s been six years since her debut album Invasion Of Privacy dropped and many are hoping that this year is when the follow-up will finally drop. But in the meantime, fans are still processing “Like What.”
One of the most notable lyrics on the new song came on the chorus. She called out Coach directly, saying “Blocks and money gettin’ spunt. Like, like what? Like a Coach bag, baby, this ain’t what you want.” But apparently Cardi herself does want a Coach bag, at least according to a new Tiktok she shared. “Come with me to buy a Coach bag” the caption of a recent video shared to her TikTok account reads. In the clip she goes to the Coach store to do just that, buying herself a bag after searching though various options. The official Coach TikTok account even pulled up in the comments and said “C for Cardi.” Check out the new video which makes some contradictions to her recent single below.
Cardi tried to explain the origin of the Coach line during a recent livestream. “In 2011, everybody started getting rid of their Coach sh*t. Honest truth, it was really because of Cam’ron. When I was doing this song, that’s what I was thinking about. It’s like, ‘B*tch, do you want that or do you want this? You want a Chanel or you want this bag?’ Now everybody’s jumping me” she explained.
The brand itself didn’t seem to upset by the whole affair. Before commenting on the TikTok the official Coach Twitter gave Cardi their cosign. What do you think of Cardi B’s new video where she buys a Coach bag? Does it make you listen to the lyric on “Like What” differently? Let us know in the comment section below.
As is the case with nearly all of Cardi B‘s releases, her latest cut, “Like What (Freestyle)” has everyone talking. While many are lauding Cardi for her scorching bars, a particular line has been interpreted as potential shade toward a fashion brand.
From the very beginning of the song, the Bronx rapper reminds us that she’s not the one to play with
“Classy and a c*nt / Blocks and money gettin’ spunt / Like, like what? / Like a Coach bag, baby, this ain’t what you want,” she raps on the controversial.
Many listeners took this line as a dig on the Coach brand, but Cardi took to Instagram Live to set the record straight. She explained that the line was inspired by Cam’ron’s 2011 track, “Hey Muma” and that she was simply speaking to the culture of New York fashion.
“I’m not trying to be on some rich sh*t and everything,” Cardi said in her live. “This is just real New York sh*t. I ain’t trying to offend none of y’all.”
Last week, Cardi B came through with a new music drop, unveiling “Like What (Freestyle).” On the track, some noticed that Cardi seems to go after the Coach brand, as she says in the chorus, “Like a Coach bag, baby, this ain’t what you want.” Two things there: The intent behind the lyric isn’t what it might seem, and Coach has offered a response to the song.
In a video shared over the weekend, Cardi explained that the lyric wasn’t a dig at Coach, but was instead a reference to Cam’ron and Vado’s 2011 song “Hey Muma,” which features the lyric, “Yo, girl, get a notepad (for what?) / You ain’t got no swag / And you so fine, it’s so sad / Still riding coach, need a Coach bag / Let me coach you, no Coach tags (what that mean?) / Get rid of that Coach bag.”

Coach saw that video and replied on X (formerly Twitter), “We love Cardi!! [heart emoji].” Cardi shared Coach’s post and added, “[weary face emoji] love [heart emoji].”
Meanwhile, Cardi recently hinted at more new music coming soon, saying in a video, “I’m not letting my anxiety, I’m not letting what haters say, I’m not letting what fans say… if I do a song, I’m gonna just f*cking drop it. Well, I got no choice because I’m dropping my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement. But don’t play with me!”
Cardi B has explained why she dissed the brand, Coach, in her new single, “Like What.” Taking to social media, she told her followers that it was a bar for people from New York and compared it to Cam’ron dissing the brand on “Hey Muma,” On the song, she raps: “Classy and a c*nt / Blocks and money getting spunt / Like, like what? / Like a Coach bag, baby, this ain’t what you want.”
“Yo, I’m getting jumped,” Cardi said on Instagram Live on Friday night. “I be feeling like people from New York, like … we live in our own little world, right? I’m getting jumped because everybody’s like ‘Bitch, what’s wrong with Coach?’”
From there, she explained that she’s a big Dipset fan. “In 2011, everybody started getting rid of their Coach sh*t. Honest truth, it was really because of Cam’ron,” Cardi explained. “When I was doing this song, that’s what I was thinking about. It’s like, ‘B*tch, do you want that or do you want this? You want a Chanel or you want this bag?’ Now everybody’s jumping me, I’m not trying to be on some rich sh*t and everything. This is just a real New York sh*t. I ain’t trying to offend none of y’all. I’ma buy me a Coach bag tomorrow, you hear me?” Check out her full comments on the situation below.
Cardi B Reflects On “Like What” Response
The Coach brand ended up responding to Cardi’s song on Twitter. “We love Cardi!!,” its social media page wrote. In response, Cardi wrote back: “love ya.” “Like What” arrives as Cardi continues to prepare for the release of her long-awaited sophomore album. Derek Fisher and Matt Barnes had a very infamous feud a few years ago. After Fisher started dating Gloria Govan, Barnes drove a while to go see Fisher. However, the two have ultimately downplayed the situation over the years. Regardless, this is one of those storylines that fans always love to bring up on occasion. After all, there is some heavy drama within it, and people live for the drama. Well, it should be noted that this beef has been squashed and that is that.
In fact, some fans would be surprised to know that Derek Fisher is currently coaching Barnes’ sons. The video down below, which was shared by The Neighborhood Talk, showcases Fisher on the sidelines while Barnes is in the stands. The two don’t really interact although that makes a lot of sense. Either way, Barnes’ twin sons are on the floor, and they seem to be having fun out there. Needless to say, this is a cool example of a bad beef being squashed.
As one fan explained in the comments section to post above, Barnes has admitted to how his twin sons like Fisher a lot. Consequently, they wanted their dad to squash the beef. It makes a lot of sense and it goes to show that Barnes knows what is best for his kids. At the end of the day, harboring grudges is never going to do you any good. Based on this news, it is abundantly clear that both of these men are aware of that. Hopefully, they can continue to be on good terms as Fisher resumes his coaching duties.
Let us know what you think of this turnaround in Fisher and Barnes’ relationship, in the comments section below. New York Fashion Week is here, and the shows have been nothing short of amazing. The celebrities are showing up and eating up in looks good enough to walk the runway. Hip-hop newcomer and TikTok icon Ice Spice attended her first fashion week shows at Dion Lee on Friday, and at Coach yesterday. She was spotted sitting front row with none other than Lil Nas X, who is an ambassador for the brand. Lil Nas X has previously walked for Coach in their Spring/Summer 2023 show.
The Autumn/Winter 2023 collection paid homage to New York house parties and the nostalgic 90s grunge era. Ice Spice was seen wearing a varsity-inspired emerald green dress with platform red heels. To accessorize, she wore a mini red Coach clutch to match. She also wore her signature custom $100,000 chain made by Benny Da Jeweler. The chain features an animated version of the Bronx rapper’s face, complete with a curly afro covered in diamonds.
Ice Spice and Lil Nas X Sitting Together
Lil Nas X wore a cropped red shearling coat from the brand to match his fuzzy red Coach Tabby bag. He also sported red shoes, and denim flared jeans that featured a complimentary red fur cutout at the ankles. The show was outstanding, to say the least. It was only right for the New York-based brand to bring out some New York natives and fashion icons in the making to sit front row. Social media has gone crazy with the duo. Lil Nas X went straight to his Instagram feed- proving that they were totally meant to become fashion besties.
Additionally, several other celebrities made an appearance at the Coach show. Zoey Deutch, another ambassador for the Coach brand, and Camila Mendes and her boyfriend and influencer Rudy Mancuso sat in the front row with Ice Spice and Lil Nas X. According to Women’s Wear Daily, when asked about her favorite part of the show Ice Spice said it was the bags, specifically “the little banana bags and the little fish bag, that was so cute.” We cannot wait to see what other shows Lil Nas X and Ice Spice attend together. Although he is not a stranger to fashion week, we would still love to see him walk the runway again. As for Ice Spice, her new EP “Like…?” has granted her access to superstar-status activities such as attending fashion shows. There is no doubt that she will pop up in more shows, wearing more stylish looks throughout the duration of fashion month.
A remake of the cult classic 2004 Mean Girls may be on its way, but Megan Thee Stallion has offered her own spin on the iconic film. Appearing in a promotion video for Coach’s Fall 2021 collection, Megan takes on the role of Regina George, who was originally played by Rachel McAdams.
The commercial is a spoof on the scene where Regina George’s character is introduced to the protagonist, Cady Heron (played by Lindsay Lohan). In the segment, a few members of her high school’s student body shares a ridiculous rumor they heard about George, like that her “hair is insured for $10,000.”
Megan’s commercial is a playful take on the original scene, recreating the script with several contemporary comedians. The script reads:
“Megan Thee Stallion is flawless. One time, she locked eyes with Medusa and all the snakes unionized. Each of her dogs has its own bedroom and country home in France. Shakespeare wrote five sonnets about her. Yeah, she wasn’t alive yet but… he knew. I heard her favorite movie is an anime based on her own life and it won best picture. Her nails are so long that she accidentally gouged my eye out and it was awesome. I heard that she was walking down the street and a guy saw her and crashed his car. It was so fetch. Or, not fetch… it was awesome. She’s perfect.”
