NBA superstar Chris Paul celebrates the release of his new book at Sei Less restaurant in New York City with close family and friends.

The synopsis for Chris Paul’s book reads:

The day after future NBA superstar Chris Paul signed his letter of intent to play college basketball for Wake Forest, he received a world-shattering phone call. His grandfather, Nathaniel “Papa” Jones, a pillar of the Winston-Salem community where he owned and operated the first Black-owned service station in North Carolina, was mugged and ultimately died from a heart attack resulting from the assault. His funeral filled the largest church in the county, which held over one thousand people. He was sixty-one years old.

The day after burying his grandfather, Chris was coping the best way he knew how: by playing basketball for his high school team. After pouring in shot after shot, his last attempt was an airball purposely flung out of bounds from the foul line before Chris exited the game. The next day, local news headlines declared that he fell six points shy of the statewide single game high school scoring record. But he accomplished exactly what he set out to do: scoring sixty-one points, one for each year of life lived by his grandfather.

In Sixty-One, Chris opens up about life beyond basketball and the role his grandfather played in molding him into the man and father he is today. He’ll speak about the foundation of faith and family he built his life upon, what it means to be a positive light within your community and beyond, and the importance of setting the proper example for future generations. Most importantly, Chris will talk about his home, Winston-Salem, and the close-knit family and village that raised him to become one of the most respected leaders in all of sports.

Chris Paul’s Feelings Towards The Grizzlies Revealed

Chris Paul is certainly one of the best point guards to ever play the game of basketball. However, there is one accolade that is missing from his career. Of course, we are talking about an NBA title. He was two games away from winning one back in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Although, the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately bested them. Now, it is at a point where Paul is no longer with the Suns, and will be looking for his next team to play with.

Right now, Chris Paul is on the Washington Wizards. Overall, it is becoming increasingly clear that they are going to waive him. Perhaps even a sign and trade is on the table. However, the fact remains that we will likely be seeing Paul in a brand-new jersey next year. There are plenty of teams that could use him, including the Memphis Grizzlies. With all of the Ja Morant stuff going on, it is clear that they could use a veteran leader. Ultimately, Paul would be perfect in that role.

Chris Paul To Memphis?

However, it does not seem like Chris Paul has any interest in actually going down South. Zach Lowe of ESPN asked around the league about the possibility, and the response was pretty telling. “I asked some people last night, would he ever want to go to Memphis and be the veteran mentor that this team, who’s not going to have its point guard for the first 25 games of the season, so badly needs? Didn’t get a lot of good feedback on that one,” he said.

So there you have it Grizzlies fans. Do not expect Chris Paul to come and save your franchise and youth next season. Instead, it is likely that Paul will go to a team like the Clippers, or maybe another potential title contender. Let us know where you would like to see CP3, in the comments section down below. Chris Paul To Be Aggresively Persued By San Antonio Spurs

Chris Paul’s future is still uncertain. On June 7, it was reported that the Phoenix Suns had met with Chris Paul. During that meeting, the team told the veteran that there has a possibility he could be waived before his fully guaranteed salary triggered on June 28th. Paul has been in Phoenix since 2020 and had the fourth-highest assists per game in the NBA this season.

However, Phoenix is looking for any possible way to overhaul their roster after their “win now” plan failed. Despite his impressive numbers, especially for someone in their age 38 season, his cap hit appears to be too much for the Suns. If Paul is still on the roster on June 28th, he will have to be paid $30.8 million. According to the latest updates on the situation, the team is doing everything they can to move Paul without waiving him. Now, new rumors are hinting at one very interested suitor.

San Antonio Spurs Want Paul

First reported by LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, San Antonio is extremely interested in pursuing Paul. “When free agency opens, a scout for a Western Conference team believes the Spurs will make a hard push for either Chris Paul or Fred VanVleet. He posits that the opportunity to pair Wembanyama with an experienced playmaker at point guard will ultimately be impossible for San Antonio to pass up.”

Ellis also pointed to the reason why the Spurs are so eager to bring Paul. For just the third time in franchise history, the Spurs own the #1 pick in the draft. The last two times they have been in this position, they drafted Hall of Famers David Robinson and Tim Duncan. In 2023, they will be able to draft generational prospect Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama, who has been playing professionally in France since 2019, will likely need a little adjustment to the NBA. However, his transition will be made all the easier by a player like Paul. Furthermore, Paul has actively relished serving in a veteran leadership role in his recent stints with the Thunder and Suns. Essentially, he is the perfect player to bring over to the Spurs to help Wembanyama achieve his potential. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

JJ Reddick Reveals Chris Paul’s Best Championship Chances

Chris Paul is one of the greatest players to ever grace the NBA. Drafted out of Wake Forst in 2005, Paul is a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBAer, seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Team player, five-time NBA assists leader, and six-time NBA steals leader. He has gone from prospect to star to veteran leader. However, injuries derailed his 2022-23 season, his third with the Suns. The only things missing from Paul’s resume are an MVP and an NBA title.

On June 7, it was reported that Paul had met with Suns’ leadership about his future with the team. As part of those conversations, Paul was informed that he could be waived before June 28th. Paul is owed $30.8 million if he is on the roster on June 28th. He is only owed $15.8 million if the Suns cut or trade him. While it is not a done deal, many experts expect the Suns to move on from Paul.

JJ Reddick Weighs In On Chris Paul’s Next Move

Speaking on First Take, JJ Reddick shared his thoughts on where he thinks Paul should go, if Paul wants to retire with a ring. “The two best places I think for him to win a championship is Phoenix … and the Los Angeles Lakers,” Reddick said during a two-minute monologue. Both options are valid and intriguing choices. The championship window for the Suns is closing fast and this offseason could very well shut it completely. They are $79 million over the salary cap and have a lot of bloated contracts, like Paul’s on the books. The Suns went all-in to win 2023 and came up well short. While Reddick’s logic makes sense, there are a lot of balls in the desert area.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have shown what they can do at full strength, running all the way to the Western Conference Finals. There are championship aspirations, sure. However, the ability to get past teams like the Nuggets remains to be seen. Paul is 38 and doesn’t have that many years left most likely. Is he, and his contract, something the Lakers want to take on? Furthermore, where do you think Chris Paul will go? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris Paul Says His Daughter Was Trolled at School Over His Lack of NBA Titles

Chris Paul says trolls at school have bullied his daughter because he has not won an NBA championship. Appearing on The Pivot Podcast, Paul revealed how his career could sometimes make for tough parenting.

“It’s tough on me, but I think it’s probably even harder for the people around me. Especially my wife,” said Paul. “My wife is the one who has the bear those late nights those ‘I can’t sleep,’ and my kids, like my daughter is the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet in your life. She’s at that age now where at school kids talk crazy to her. So she had a little boy at school that said some reckless stuff to her. He was like, ‘Your Daddy ain’t never going to win no championship.’”

CP3 said he used it as a teaching moment. You can hear it below.

Chris Paul may have a new NBA home when the 2023-24 season kicks off. ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski reports Paul has been informed by Phoenix Suns’ ownership of their desire to move the legendary guard potentially.

Additional options for further negotiations with the Suns include trade opportunities for Paul, as well as center Deandre Ayton, continuing to look to make strides to improve the chances of winning a championship.

If Paul is waived, only $15.8 million of his $30.8 million for the upcoming season is guaranteed. The entire amount would be guaranteed if Paul is kept on the Suns’ roster past the June 28 deadline.

Paul’s desire to remain in Phoenix alongside his close friend Devin Booker and newcomer Kevin Durant is a wrinkle in the negotiations.

During the 2023 playoffs, Paul was sidelined, and the Denver Nuggets ousted the Suns in a 4-2 series.

Phoenix Suns Could Waive Chris Paul

In a shocking turn of events, the Phoenix Suns have met with Chris Paul and informed the veteran point guard that he could be waived before a guaranteed salary clause in his contract triggers on June 28th. Paul, who turned 38 earlier this month, has been in Phoenix since 2020. He was a trade acquisition from the Thunder. However, he has turned into a core piece for Phoenix.

However, the Suns are currently in the midst of a roster dilemma, with a number of weighty contracts set to drag the franchise into cap hell. Unfortunately, this is something of the franchise’s own doing. The team made a number of blockbuster trades as they went all-in on winning in 2023. Next year, Paul is owed $30.8 million. However, he is only owed $15.8 million if he can be removed from the roster before June 28th.

Suns Meeting With Paul

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, the Suns met with Paul on June 7. This meeting was to discuss his future with the team. As part of those discussions, the team openly told Paul he could be waived. However, per ESPN, “The Suns insist that they’re still working through several possibilities on Paul’s future.” As recently as last week, ESPN‘s Tim McMahon reported that Paul’s place on the team was reportedly safe. Furthermore, center DeAndre Ayton was believed to be the main trade piece for the Suns.

As it stands, the Suns are currently $74 million over the NBA salary cap heading into next season. It’s quite possible, given that this may necessitate the trading/waiving of Paul, Ayton, and other key contributors, that the Suns’ championship window has closed for the moment. However. Paul is reportedly eager to stay with the Suns and his waiving is not yet confirmed. Despite this, it does appear that being waived, unless an equitable trade can be found, is the most likely outcome. Last season, Paul put up 13.9 points per game and 8.9 assists (4th highest in the NBA). However, he was largely unavailable during the playoffs due to a recurring late-season injury. This is a developing story and we’ll have any updates here at HotNewHipHop.

Chris Paul Says His Daughter Is Bullied For His Lack Of A Ring

Chris Paul has had a storied basketball career. After a standout career at Wake Forest, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in his freshman year, Paul was drafted fourth overall in 2005 by the New Orleans Hornets. Paul had a slow and steady start to this career. He won Rookie of the Year on a bad Hornets team. However, his rise and prime started in 2008. He earned his first of 12 All-Star appearances and a place on the All-NBA First Team. However, after the NBA nixed a trade that would have sent Paul to the Hornets in 2011, he was instead dealt to the Clippers. His time in LA was marked with six All-NBA Defensive First Team and three more All-NBA First Team awards.

Paul was traded to the Rockets in 2017, where he made his first-ever Conference Finals appearance. However, as the Rockets’ star faded, Paul was moved to Oklahoma City. After a strong season with the Thunder, he was dealt once again to the Suns. However, this proved to be a career resurgence for CP3, as he helped the Sun reach the Finals. However, despite the rising star of the Suns, Paul is yet to secure an NBA ring. What’s more, this is now apparently affecting his daughter.

Chris Paul Opens Up On The Pivot

Speaking on The Pivot, Paul talked about how his lack of an NBA ring is now affecting his family. “[My daughter] at the age now where at school kids talk crazy to her. She had a little boy at school that said some reckless stuff to her was like, ‘Your daddy ain’t never gon’ win no championship,” Paul said. For context, Paul’s daughter Camryn is 10 years old so that’s one hell of an emboldened classmate. However, it’s clear that Paul is deeply affected by his daughter becoming the target of his haters, just because he hasn’t won a ring.

This all comes at a time of uncertainty for Paul and the Suns. New franchise owner Mat Ishiba is firmly in a win-now mode, come hell or high water. It’s clear that 2023 was meant to be the championship year. The most notable evidence of this was swinging a massive trade for Kevin Durant. However, that championship did not materialize and now the Suns are in a tough position. At the time of writing, the most recent rumored, per ESPN‘s Tim McMahon, is that Paul will likely be staying on the Suns. This supersedes earlier rumors that Paul would likely be traded. However, while bullying is of course unacceptable, the best way for his daughter to get back at the shit-talking fifth-grader would be to flex a ring.

Suns Reportedly Set To Shop CP3 And DeAndre Ayton

The Phoenix Suns crashed out of the NBA playoffs on Thursday night with a 125-100 loss to the Denver Nuggets. After reaching the NBA Finals in 2021, the Suns have bowed out in the second round the past two seasons. However, it was supposed to be different this year, with the Suns going all-in to acquire Kevin Durant.

Now the team is faced with an offseason of tough decisions and bloated contracts. However, according to industry sources, the Suns are already making plans to try and recoup some of what they gave up to unsuccessfully win-now in 2023.

CP3 And Ayton Likely Gone From Suns

The Suns have multiple problems that need addressing. As much as they would likely love to build around Devon Booker, that’s harder than it sounds. The Suns are in a bad place cap-wise and are set to be screwed yet further if they can’t move players quickly. The first domino is Chris Paul. Paul has been with the Clippers since a November 2020 trade. However, Paul is 38 and will be owed $30 million in June. According to ESPN‘s Tim MacMahon, the Suns are likely to “aggressively shop” Paul in hopes of moving him before that June pay hike.

Then there’s DeAndre Ayton. While the 25-year-old center is another piece the Suns would love to build around, he is also the most appealing trade asset on the roster. He’s young, extremely talented, and on a team-friendly contract. If the Suns want to move on from Paul, they might have to throw Ayton in as well. The upside is that a deal of that magnitude could some much-needed draft capital back to Phoenix. The Nets own most of the Suns’ future draft picks currently. However, it remains to be seen exactly what the Suns will do next as they contemplate their future. What do you think the Suns should do? Let us know in the comments.

Chris Paul Hit With Injury Bug As Suns Drop Another Game

Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns are not having a very good time right now. Overall, the Denver Nuggets have proven to be a lot tougher than they expected. Moreover, the Suns have no depth. Aside from Paul, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant, the team has no bench. We saw that in Game 1 as the bench scored a grand total of seven points. On Monday night, they weren’t much better as they scored eight points. Subsequently, the Suns lost again as the Nuggets put on a defensive clinic.

At this point, the Nuggets are up 2-0 in the series, and there isn’t much hope that the Suns can recover. Sure, the series is going back to Phoenix, but this could very well be a case of too little, too late. Furthermore, things are going from bad to worse here as Chris Paul found himself with a groin injury during the third quarter of Game 2. In the clip down below, you can see Paul clutching his groin area before leaving the game entirely. He never came back, and the Nuggets subsequently came back and won the game.

Chris Paul Goes Down

During the first 25 minutes of action with Paul on the floor, he scored eight points. Overall, this is not a lot, but he is an effective facilitator for guys like Booker and KD. Now, there is a ton of uncertainty considering whether or not he will play in Game 3. If Chris Paul is officially out, then consider this series over. In fact, this could end up being a full sweep. The Nuggets are just too powerful right now, and Nikola Jokic is on another level. At this point, it is clear who the real MVP is.

Moving forward, it is going to be very interesting to watch how things develop. The Nuggets are likely going to the Western Conference Finals, and the Warriors or Lakers will be on the other side. Needless to say, these playoffs are going to be very interesting. Let us know who you think is taking the championship this year, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more updates from around the basketball world.
