Austin Reaves Didn’t Believe Chris Paul Trade Was Real

Chris Paul has been traded twice this offseason. First the veteran point guard moved from the Suns to the Wizards as Phoenix acquired Bradley Beal. But before Paul could even think about the nightmare of DC-area real estate, he was flipped to the Warriors in exchange for Jordan Poole. Paul will now play alongside the vaunted Big Three of Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. The move only adds to the rapidly-aging title contender that the Warriors are hoping to capitalize on.

It was a shocking series of events that truly marked the start of a bizarre offseason. Of course, it is also one of the few blockbuster trades to have actually happened. Damian Lillard and James Harden both remain in limbo as the Blazers and Sixers respectively continue to drag their feet on trading the franchise cornerstones. However, at least one player straight up didn’t believe the Paul trade was real. Austin Reaves revealed his skepticism in a recent interview.

Reaves Thought The Paul Trade Was A Fake Post

Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, Reaves admitted that he thought a parody account was making up the Paul trade. “That was random. One of the coaches… told me. I was like, you’re probably looking at the wrong… I think that’s ButtCrackSports, that always puts out false stuff,” Reaves said. Of course, Reaves faced Paul during his time in Phoenix. However, the young Laker likely thought his days of facing the veteran were done after he was sent to Washington. But now Paul is back in the Western Conference and Reaves’ problem once again.

Of course, it’s likely more preferable to Reaves that he’s reacting to potentially fake news, and not involved in it. Recently, Reaves had to officially deny rumors from a parody account that he was dating Taylor Swift. “I have never met her, never talked to her. All bullshit… I ain’t never talked to her… They said we were in a bar in Arkansas,” Reaves said when asked about the rumors during an appearance on the All The Smoke podcast.

Draymond Green Takes Shot At Phoenix Suns Star

Draymond Green has long been the type of person to speak his mind. Whether that be good, bad, or indifferent. Speaking your truth is a strong quality for anyone to have. However, sometimes things could just be left unsaid. On a recent episode of “Podcast P With Paul George,” George sat down with Green to discuss the NBA. Both athletes have played the game at the highest level. The pair know what it takes to be a successful player in the best basketball league in the world.

However, the topic came up about Chris Paul’s addition to the Golden State Warriors. Paul was dealt to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal that sent Bradley Beal to Phoenix. Ultimately, Paul found his way to Golden State after the team sent Jordan Poole to Washington for the Hall of Fame guard. Paul has long been a rival of Steph Curry and the Warriors. A rivalry that has included a few postseason slugfests. However, Green sees no issue with CP3 joining the team.

Draymond Green Excited For Chris Paul’s Leadership

During the conversation with George, Green praised what Paul can bring to the team. Referring to Paul as a great teacher of young talent. The Warriors forward even went on to say that Paul saved the career of Suns big man Deandre Ayton. Green claimed that Ayton was a bust before Paul arrived in the desert. However, now Ayton is now playing some of the best basketball of his career. Although it was meant to be a compliment, it still feels like a dig from Green.

The former number-one overall pick has had his critics since joining the league. At one time, many believed Ayton and Devin Booker could be the most deadly duo in the league. While he still hasn’t lived up to being a first-pick, Ayton continues to make a difference for this team. This upcoming season will be the best chance for the Suns and Ayton to win an NBA title. Do you agree with Green that CP3 helped revitalize Ayton’s career? Let us know in the comment section. For the latest news in sports, keep it right here with HNHH.

SOURCE SPORTS: Steph Curry and Klay Thompson Say They Believe Chris Paul Will Elevate the Warriors

Chris Paul Traded to Golden State Warriors in Swap for Jordan Poole & Picks

When the 2023-24 NBA season kicks off, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors will have a new teammate in former foe Chris Paul. The Dubs’s longtime superstar duo will face off in The Match against the NFL superstar tandem of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes and spoke to The Athletic about it, but started with some CP3 talk.

In case you missed it, less than a week after being traded to the Washington Wizards, Chris Paul is now a member of the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have landed Paul in a deal that sends Jordan Poole, a 2030 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick to DC.

Reflecting on the new deal, both Curry and Thompson state the transition will be easy.

“Any time you get to play with a player who is one of the best of your generation it’s an honor,” Thompson said. “It’s a little weird because we’ve had so many battles in the past with Chris, and he’s led so many teams that nearly knocked us off or did knock us off all the way back in 2014.

“I think he’s just going to add such a calming presence and leadership component that we need.”

Curry added, “The business is crazy. We all know that. If you asked us six months ago if this was something that could happen, the answer probably would’ve been no just based on where we were. Then you get to the summer and are trying to find ways to get better and put yourself in a position to chase another championship. Every team that CP has been on gets better. That’s the most consistent thing about him, and who he is and what he brings to the team. Everybody’s going to talk about the age.”

Chris Paul, recently traded from the Phoenix Suns, said the deal surprised him. In addition, he is placing blame on both new Suns owner Mat Ishbia and Detroit Pistons legend and Ishbia’s advisor, Isiah Thomas. Paul, Landry Shamet, and picks were sent to the Washington Wizards for Bradley Beal.

Paul is currently on a book tour and spoke with The New York Times about the trade.

“It’s just — it’s tough,” Paul said. “Seriously, it is part of the business, and what you realize is that no one owes you anything. No matter how you are with them or what you do, you realize that in this business, nobody owes you anything, as it should be.

“But when it comes through and my son texts me, I realize that, you know, Mat and Isiah, I guess, just wanted to go in a different direction.”

Well, now CP3 is headed in a new direction.

Steph Curry Reveals Feelings On Chris Paul Trade

Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors fell short of repeating as the champions of the NBA. The Warriors were knocked out of the 2023 Playoffs in the Western Conference Semifinals by the Lakers. The Warriors seemed to be missing just one more piece to get over the hump. Although it was practically the same team that won the Larry O’Brien just a year before. Nevertheless, the Warriors felt like it was time to shake things up a bit. When you have the chance to bring in a future Hall of Famer, you can’t pass it up.

Chris Paul was traded to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal. The trade sent former Wizards star Bradley Beal to Phoenix. However, before that trade was even officially completed, Paul had another new home. The Warriors wasted little time in bringing Paul to the organization. However, that means trading away a young piece of the franchise. That young piece would end up being Jordan Poole. Poole already had an up-and-down year, including an altercation with Draymond Green. However, Curry will not forget his time with the team.

Steph Curry Trusts Warriors Plan

In his first comments about the trade, Curry mentioned how hard it is to see Poole go. “You hate losing [Jordan Poole]… That’s the tough part of the business, seeing a young guy come into his own [and then get traded]… But we’re trying to win next year, and Chris Paul can help.” The last part of that comment is the sole reason for the trade. Paul puts the Warriors in a better position to compete for a title. However, will he be open to coming off of the bench?

It may take some time for the Warriors to blend Paul into their chemistry. However, Curry and Paul both are proven winners. They each know the sacrifices that need to be made for the greater good. But does Paul give the Warriors a better chance at beating a team like the Denver Nuggets? Do you think this trade made the Warriors better? Let us know in the comment section. SOURCE SPORTS: Chris Paul Reveals He Found Out About Warriors Trade From His Son

Chris Paul Traded to Golden State Warriors in Swap for Jordan Poole & Picks

In case you missed it, Chris Paul is the latest member of the Golden State Warriors. After the trade broke the Internet, sportscaster Lindsay Czarniak spoke with CP3 for her Lunch with Lindsay podcast.

The full episode, set to release on July 13, features a heartfelt conversation where Paul reveals how his son broke the news again, describing it as a “full-circle” moment. The emotionally charged day for Paul began with attending a funeral for his great-grandmother.

CP3 reveals he learned about becoming a member of the Warriors from his son after a pickup game.

“After the game got over at 1, little Chris came over and told me,” CP3 revealed. “I was excited to get a chance to go play for a franchise like that with the great players they have. It’s crazy how life comes full circle. For the last 10 years I’ve been competing… against them. I’m all about winning, so whatever’s gonna give me an opportunity to win I’m all for it.”

CP3 added, “I’m excited, I’m grateful… to get a opportunity to get an opportunity to play with that core group of players, Steph, Klay, Draymond, Looney, Wig, all them, play for Steve… It just happened so I’m just processing it all. I definitely want to get on the phone and talk to those guys and whatnot and see what’s what.”

CP3 also spoke about the funeral:

“It’s funny. I had a funeral to go to this morning. My great grandmother passed away on Friday. We got in town late last night and this morning I was at a funeral. My great grandmother was 95 years old. I went and spoke at something this afternoon, and it was crazy because in the book I talk about funerals and how tough they are to deal with…. And I had one this morning…. It’s the first time I’ve been to a funeral like that with my son who’s 14. I’m thinking about how I just wrote about this in the book and I’m living it today.

My grandmother’s mother, so I’m seeing a lot of my family members some of them I haven’t seen in 15 years or maybe longer. So all the emotions of that this morning. Then the trade… I had almost forgot about the funeral for a second there when we was talking about that because it’s so much, you know what I mean, but you keep moving.”

The full Lunch with Lindsay episode will be released on July 13.

Chris Paul Celebrates New Book with Family and Friends at Sei Less NYC

NBA star Chris Paul recently visited Sei Less restaurant in New York City to commemorate the launch of his latest book, Sixty-One: Life Lessons from Papa, On and Off the Court.

Accompanied by his loved ones, Chris indulged in various delectable dishes at Sei Less, including Chicken Satay, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Rock Shrimp Tempura. The celebration marked a memorable evening as Chris savored the success of his book, which offers valuable insights and experiences from his life both as a basketball player and as a person.

NBA superstar Chris Paul celebrates the release of his new book at Sei Less restaurant in New York City with close family and friends.

The synopsis for Chris Paul’s book reads:

The day after future NBA superstar Chris Paul signed his letter of intent to play college basketball for Wake Forest, he received a world-shattering phone call. His grandfather, Nathaniel “Papa” Jones, a pillar of the Winston-Salem community where he owned and operated the first Black-owned service station in North Carolina, was mugged and ultimately died from a heart attack resulting from the assault. His funeral filled the largest church in the county, which held over one thousand people. He was sixty-one years old.

The day after burying his grandfather, Chris was coping the best way he knew how: by playing basketball for his high school team. After pouring in shot after shot, his last attempt was an airball purposely flung out of bounds from the foul line before Chris exited the game. The next day, local news headlines declared that he fell six points shy of the statewide single game high school scoring record. But he accomplished exactly what he set out to do: scoring sixty-one points, one for each year of life lived by his grandfather.

In Sixty-One, Chris opens up about life beyond basketball and the role his grandfather played in molding him into the man and father he is today. He’ll speak about the foundation of faith and family he built his life upon, what it means to be a positive light within your community and beyond, and the importance of setting the proper example for future generations. Most importantly, Chris will talk about his home, Winston-Salem, and the close-knit family and village that raised him to become one of the most respected leaders in all of sports.

Chris Paul’s Feelings Towards The Grizzlies Revealed

Chris Paul is certainly one of the best point guards to ever play the game of basketball. However, there is one accolade that is missing from his career. Of course, we are talking about an NBA title. He was two games away from winning one back in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Although, the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately bested them. Now, it is at a point where Paul is no longer with the Suns, and will be looking for his next team to play with.

Right now, Chris Paul is on the Washington Wizards. Overall, it is becoming increasingly clear that they are going to waive him. Perhaps even a sign and trade is on the table. However, the fact remains that we will likely be seeing Paul in a brand-new jersey next year. There are plenty of teams that could use him, including the Memphis Grizzlies. With all of the Ja Morant stuff going on, it is clear that they could use a veteran leader. Ultimately, Paul would be perfect in that role.

Chris Paul To Memphis?

However, it does not seem like Chris Paul has any interest in actually going down South. Zach Lowe of ESPN asked around the league about the possibility, and the response was pretty telling. “I asked some people last night, would he ever want to go to Memphis and be the veteran mentor that this team, who’s not going to have its point guard for the first 25 games of the season, so badly needs? Didn’t get a lot of good feedback on that one,” he said.

So there you have it Grizzlies fans. Do not expect Chris Paul to come and save your franchise and youth next season. Instead, it is likely that Paul will go to a team like the Clippers, or maybe another potential title contender. Let us know where you would like to see CP3, in the comments section down below. Chris Paul To Be Aggresively Persued By San Antonio Spurs

Chris Paul’s future is still uncertain. On June 7, it was reported that the Phoenix Suns had met with Chris Paul. During that meeting, the team told the veteran that there has a possibility he could be waived before his fully guaranteed salary triggered on June 28th. Paul has been in Phoenix since 2020 and had the fourth-highest assists per game in the NBA this season.

However, Phoenix is looking for any possible way to overhaul their roster after their “win now” plan failed. Despite his impressive numbers, especially for someone in their age 38 season, his cap hit appears to be too much for the Suns. If Paul is still on the roster on June 28th, he will have to be paid $30.8 million. According to the latest updates on the situation, the team is doing everything they can to move Paul without waiving him. Now, new rumors are hinting at one very interested suitor.

San Antonio Spurs Want Paul

First reported by LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, San Antonio is extremely interested in pursuing Paul. “When free agency opens, a scout for a Western Conference team believes the Spurs will make a hard push for either Chris Paul or Fred VanVleet. He posits that the opportunity to pair Wembanyama with an experienced playmaker at point guard will ultimately be impossible for San Antonio to pass up.”

Ellis also pointed to the reason why the Spurs are so eager to bring Paul. For just the third time in franchise history, the Spurs own the #1 pick in the draft. The last two times they have been in this position, they drafted Hall of Famers David Robinson and Tim Duncan. In 2023, they will be able to draft generational prospect Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama, who has been playing professionally in France since 2019, will likely need a little adjustment to the NBA. However, his transition will be made all the easier by a player like Paul. Furthermore, Paul has actively relished serving in a veteran leadership role in his recent stints with the Thunder and Suns. Essentially, he is the perfect player to bring over to the Spurs to help Wembanyama achieve his potential. Follow all the latest sports news here at HotNewHipHop.

JJ Reddick Reveals Chris Paul’s Best Championship Chances

Chris Paul is one of the greatest players to ever grace the NBA. Drafted out of Wake Forst in 2005, Paul is a 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBAer, seven-time NBA All-Defensive First Team player, five-time NBA assists leader, and six-time NBA steals leader. He has gone from prospect to star to veteran leader. However, injuries derailed his 2022-23 season, his third with the Suns. The only things missing from Paul’s resume are an MVP and an NBA title.

On June 7, it was reported that Paul had met with Suns’ leadership about his future with the team. As part of those conversations, Paul was informed that he could be waived before June 28th. Paul is owed $30.8 million if he is on the roster on June 28th. He is only owed $15.8 million if the Suns cut or trade him. While it is not a done deal, many experts expect the Suns to move on from Paul.

JJ Reddick Weighs In On Chris Paul’s Next Move

Speaking on First Take, JJ Reddick shared his thoughts on where he thinks Paul should go, if Paul wants to retire with a ring. “The two best places I think for him to win a championship is Phoenix … and the Los Angeles Lakers,” Reddick said during a two-minute monologue. Both options are valid and intriguing choices. The championship window for the Suns is closing fast and this offseason could very well shut it completely. They are $79 million over the salary cap and have a lot of bloated contracts, like Paul’s on the books. The Suns went all-in to win 2023 and came up well short. While Reddick’s logic makes sense, there are a lot of balls in the desert area.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have shown what they can do at full strength, running all the way to the Western Conference Finals. There are championship aspirations, sure. However, the ability to get past teams like the Nuggets remains to be seen. Paul is 38 and doesn’t have that many years left most likely. Is he, and his contract, something the Lakers want to take on? Furthermore, where do you think Chris Paul will go? Let us know in the comments below.
