Nicki Minaj’s Viral Dance Choreographer Clears The Air After Being Called Out Online

Canadian internet personality Donté Colley has shared another update on the ongoing drama involving the dance choreography for Nicki Minaj’s “FTCU.” He claims he isn’t getting an opportunity to collaborate nor proper credit for his work on a dance for the track.

“I have an update,” he began in a new video. “So, let me get into it. I was reached out to by a member of her team and I wasn’t after payment for this. I was just looking for the opportunity to potentially collaborate and receive credit. Neither one of those options seemed possible and have been rejected. I want to thank you so much for your words of encouragement. Y’all saw something, knew it wasn’t right, and brought it to my attention and we should be uplifting and supporting each other and continuing to do so. So, I encourage other artists to seek credit for their work.”

Minaj previously addressed Colley’s request for credit in a tweet from last month. “I thought a lady Zara made it up?” she wrote at the time.”Thought she was an artist having fun w|it…? so glad barbz brought it2 my attention in time [making me proud as always]. I’ll have Casper reach out to this VERY TALENTED & seemingly VERY sweet guy ASAP to figure out the best way to make him feel seen, appreciated & paid.” From there, someone from Minaj’s team explained why they weren’t working with Colley on the tour. “Please STOP spreading false narratives,” they wrote on Twitter. “We offered to pay him as a choreographer even though it was less than 10 seconds of choreo that we altered. ALSO offered him tix to his hometown w/ a meet a greet. He declined all this & demanded a shoutout and to get dance on stage w/ her!”

Nicki Minaj Previews “Pink Friday 2” Tour Choreography

It goes without saying that the Barbz are pumped for Nicki Minaj’s upcoming world tour. The tour, which is in support of her new album Pink Friday 2, kicks off next month in Oakland. Nicki will be accompanied by Monica, making over 50 stops around the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

While fans still have a few more weeks until they can catch Nicki live, she’s been sure to give them plenty of updates on social media. Earlier this week, for example, she shared a fun clip of some of her backup dancers rehearsing the choreography for “FTCU.” For obvious reasons, the footage left supporters eager to see more. Luckily, Nicki has recently come through with yet another behind-the-scenes peek at what’s to come.

In a new clip, Nicki is seen posing in a mirror in a rehearsal space, as dancers behind her run through their choreography. In another short clip, she joins the dancers, showing off some moves of her own. Fans in the comments section are looking forward to seeing what other glimpses Nicki will give them before next month. The tour isn’t the only exciting thing Nicki has in the works, however. Earlier this week, she took to social media to preview a new song she has on the way with none other than Burna Boy.

Since the latter finally arrived, however, she’s hardly taken her foot off the industry’s neck, between tapping legends like 50 Cent, Monica, and Keyshia Cole to join her on the deluxe cut, to preparing for her quickly approaching World Tour. Members of The Barbz already have their tickets, and while they wait for Minaj to hit the road, they’ve been keeping a close eye on her social media for hints of what’s to come.

For the most part, late January and early February have been about responding to Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” single. The Queen of Rap’s “Big Foot” diss track clapping back at her nemesis received mixed reactions online, but she hasn’t let that stop her from continuing to fuel the fire. After Meg took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart, Minaj turned her attention back to Gag City, which she’s been previewing bits of on Instagram Live.

Cardi B Nails The “Bongos” Choreography In New TikTok

In case you haven’t heard, Cardi B just released a new song. The track is called “Bongos” and sees her teaming up with Megan Thee Stallion for the second time. The pair are reuniting for the first time since they dropped “WAP” back in 2020. The new song also appears to be on the way to being a hit with almost 5 million streams on Spotify in just a few days. The accompanying music video has also racked up 8.6 million views of its own on YouTube.

Now, Cardi B has taken to TikTok to show off the song’s choreography in a much more casual setting. In the video she’s looking pretty casual in the kitchen but that doesn’t prevent her from absolutely nailing every single move. In the comments of the post, fans can’t help but hype up the singer for her performance. “ATE that choreo so hard that the beanie came off,” one reads in reference to the hat she’s seen wearing in the video. “she did her big one w this song,” another fan praises. They join a roster of incredible performers on a night hosted by Nicki Minaj, who will also serve as a performer during the show. Minaj is set to join a myriad of rappers for a major tribute to the genre’s 50th anniversary.

For those hoping that the release of “Bongos” meant a new Cardi B album was on the horizon, they’ll have to wait a bit longer. DaniLeigh has shared that she is credited with helping with the choreography for Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour. She thanked the legendary singer for the opportunity on Instagram, Saturday. DaniLeigh explained that she had to keep the collaboration a secret throughout 2022.

“Kept this on the DL last year but I’m so grateful to have been apart of some of the choreography for the Queen Beyoncé Renaissance Tour,” she captioned a picture of the credits for the tour. “It was an honor and such a blessing. a dream come true!!! thank you to @beyonce and team, The show looks amazing!!!” DaniLeigh’s fans were excited for her in the comments section. “YEAH BIG DANI DOING BIG THINGS!!! LOOK AT GOD!!!!,” one fan wrote. “Talk about upgrading your life!! That’s a W!!!! Congrats,” another commented.

One other fan of DaniLeigh’s reflected on the drama she dealt with earlier in her career. “This be the funny part. Everyone came at her for the song and even used BEY song as a comparison. The Renaissance World Tour kicked off on May 10, 2023, at Friends Arena, in Stockholm, Sweden. It marks her first solo tour since the Formation World Tour in 2016. Beyoncé will be performing a total of 57 shows through September 27, 2023, stopping in England, Spain, France, Germany, and more before coming home to the United States on July 12 for a show at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
