Charlamagne Tha God Says He And Birdman Have Squashed Their Beef After That Infamous 2016 Interview

Birdman and Charlamagne seem to have made peace. Back in 2016, rapper and Cash Money Records founder Birdman appeared on an episode of The Breakfast Club, however the interview was cut short after Birdman famously told host Charlamagne Tha God, “put some respect on my name.” Birdman quickly walked out of the interview, however, this particular line spawned several memes.

But in an interview with HipHopDX taken from the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Charlamagne suggested that he and Birdman have cleared the air.

He prefaced by saying he has nothing but love for the rapper, regardless of how the infamous interview turned out.

“He’s an OG that I look up to as far as what he’s built, as far as being a mogul,” said Charlamagne. “You can’t deny him.”

Charlamagne revealed he and Birdman spoke over the phone, after Big Bank, who hosts the Big Facts podcast, put them in touch over the phone. Apparently, the conversation lasted about five minutes, which is slightly longer than the three minutes Birdman stayed in The Breakfast Club studio during the infamous interview.

[Big Bank] put us on the phone one time and I was able to tell him that [I look up to what he’s done],” said Charlamagne. “It was just mutual respect. That was a fulfilling conversation for me.”

Charlamagne Tha God Slams Colin Kaepernick For Jets Letter: “Pathetic”

Charlamagne Tha God called out Colin Kaepernick during an episode of The Breakfast Club, earlier this week. In doing so, he labeled the former NFL star’s letter to the New York Jets “downright pathetic.” Kaepernick reached out to the organization for a chance to play on their practice squad in the wake of Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury.

“I wish that letter was never written,” he said on the show. “That letter was tragically sad and downright pathetic. Colin Kaepernick has let his setback become his identity, and I hate that for him. It pains me to see that man still begging to be in a league that he called racist and he compared to a plantation.”

Charlamagne continued: “And I hate that he can never speak for himself. He always got somebody else speaking for him or putting out his message for him. That’s so wack to me. I wish Colin the best in all his endeavors but just begging these same people you called racist for an opportunity is pitiful.” Check out Kaepernick’s letter below.

J. Cole shared Kaepernick’s letter to the public on Tuesday. “I asked Colin @kaepernick7 if I could share this letter with the world. He was reluctant,” he captioned the post of the letter. “My argument was that I believe the people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play. And always has. In the end, he agreed to let me.” In the letter, Kaep brings up the injury of Aaron Rodgers and says it presents an opportunity for him to prove himself on the team’s practice squad. Despite the remarks, he still offered his support for Jets backup quarterback Zach Wilson. He says “has the tools” to succeed.

Charlamagne Tha God Says He and Drake Planned Their Online Rift

Charlamagne Tha God

Charlamagne Tha God says we all fell for a trick that he and Drake conjure up every time The Boy is getting ready to release music. After being blasted by Drake on Instagram, Charlamagne states it was all a plan.

“I told y’all yesterday that Drake and I plan these things every time he drops certain records,” Drake said. “He wants me to hate on them because all noise is great noise nowadays.”

He added, “And I told y’all the play but nobody believes me ’cause I’m lying. But you should believe me even when I’m lying.”

Earlier in the week, The Boy fired off at The Breakfast Club host over his opinion on “Slime U Out,” Drake’s collaboration with SZA.

During his The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne stated no one cares that the single dropped. “Drake put out a song last Friday, and nobody cared.”

Charlamagne pushed back on others on the show who opposed his opinion, saying, “It came out last Friday, and people just started talking about the lyrics yesterday.”

He added, “He’s gone be fine but you look at the album cover and hear the title ‘For All the Dogs’ you expect something a little more hard. More aggressive.”

On Instagram, Drake had some words for Charlamagne: “You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the morror and wish you say my reflection type shit…whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.”

In separate posts, Drake called Charlamagne an “off brand Morris Chestnut”

Charlamagne Tha God & Drake Beef “Planned,” Radio Host Jokes As “Slime You Out” Goes No. 1

After disappointing us with several delays, Drake is under a lot of pressure right now to finish his For All The Dogs album prior to its October 6 release date. Though he seems focused on the task at hand, commentary from his critics is obviously bothering the Scorpion rapper at least a little bit, as he couldn’t hold back from lashing out at Charlamagne Tha God insulting his project’s first single. According to the media personality, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA wasn’t hard enough for him, and he didn’t seem to see the usual crowd of obsessed fans quoting the song’s lyrics until days after it dropped.

Drake had plenty of words for Tha God on his Instagram Story after catching wind of the diss, including calling him a “f**king goof.” Even with the shots fired between the two, the lyricist still came out on top as “Slime You Out” landed on top of the Billboard chart this week. Charlamagne addressed this news on Tuesday’s (September 26) episode of The Breakfast Club, suggesting that he and Champagne Papi have been planning their attacks on each other this whole time.

Charlamagne Addresses Drake’s Latest W on The Breakfast Club

“I told y’all yesterday that Drake and I plan these things every time he drops certain records. He wants me to hate on them because all noise is great noise nowadays,” the podcaster joked on air. “And I told y’all the play but nobody believes me ’cause I’m lying. But you should believe me even when I’m lying.” As AllHipHop notes, Drizzy’s latest achievement puts him just one spot behind Michael Jackson for most No. 1 male soloist records.

Charlamagne Tha God isn’t the only one who’s found himself at odds with Drake this month. While he was performing in Houston recently, some are under the impression that the Canadian attempted to diss Megan Thee Stallion after mentioning her name in a shoutout before awkwardly clarifying that he was talking about someone else. Read what internet sleuths speculate could be the rap diva’s response at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Are You Ok Lenard??: Drake Blasts Charlamagne Tha God Over Critique of SZA Collaboration

Drake Dreamville

Drake won’t be buying any more bottles for Charlamagne. Hitting Instagram, The Boy fired off at The Breakfast Club host over his opinion on “Slime U Out,” Drake’s collaboration with SZA.

During his The Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne stated no one cares that the single dropped. “Drake put out a song last Friday, and nobody cared.”

What Happened Between Drake And Charlamagne Tha God?

Drake and Charlamagne Tha God are at it again. After a week in which Cardi B and Joe Budden traded back-and-forth comments over her second album’s first single, another rapper and media personality are apparently “beefing” over comments the latter made on his show. Tension between performers and the media pundits who cover them is nothing new; there was once a time these feuds even escalated to physical violence.

But these days, they usually just result in hilarious tit-for-tats on Twitter and Instagram and in this case, that’s exactly what happened. So…

What Happened Between Drake And Charlamagne Tha God?

Just a few days after Drake released his new single, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, Charlamagne addressed the song on his podcast The Brilliant Idiots, making it clear that he wasn’t impressed. Noting that the album’s title would seemingly suggest “something a little bit more aggressive,” Charlamagne wondered whether the song wasn’t resonating with fans because of its focus on melody over rapping.

Drake caught wind of Charlamagne’s comments and responded on Instagram, writing in his Story: “Are you ok Lenard [Charlamagne’s real name is Lenard Larry McKelvey]?? You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya f*cking goof.” He then followed up with a press photo of Charlamagne apparently going for “pensive” and joked, “In deep thought about how you the off brand Morris Chestnut.”

If it seems like Drake might be overreacting to Charlamagne’s opinion, that’s only because CTG has a long history of provocations against the superstar, many pertaining to Drake’s sexuality. Fans on Twitter even collected a supercut of years of Charlamagne’s comments dating back to a beardless Drake.

It doesn’t see like Charlamagne is sweating the clapbacks though. On his other show, The Breakfast Club, he floated the unlikely explanation that he and Drake have been doing this dance as promotion for the album, which is due next month. “Back in the day, I can honestly say I was hating on Drake for fun… But after ‘Back To Back’ and he sent the bottle with the note, we came to an understanding and we agreed whenever he drops certain songs, I will hate on them and bring more attention to the record. I don’t think he needs it.” Of course, Charlamagne also said he was lying and no one would believe him, so who’s to say?

Charlamagne Tha God Responds To Drake’s Diss: “I’m Part Of The Album Rollout”

Charlamagne Tha God has responded to Drake’s latest social media diss, in which the Toronto rapper accused him of being “obsessed” with him. The remark came after Charlamagne criticized Drake’s newest song, “Slime You Out,” featuring SZA, during an episode of Brilliant Idiots with Andrew Schulz.

On the latest episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne joked that he and Drake planned out the feud for attention. “I’m part of the album rollout,” he said, before claiming that he and Drake have come to an agreement.

As for what Drake posted about Charlamagne, he began by comparing him to Boyz n the Hood actor Morris Chestnut. “In deep thought about how you the off brand Morris Chestnut,” Drake captioned a photo of Charlamagne from a 2022 Verywell Mind photoshoot. In another, since-deleted post, Drake came at the radio host more directly: “Are you ok Leonard?? You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.” Check out Charlamagne’s response to Drake on The Breakfast Club below.

As for Charlamagne’s initial criticism, he felt that a track from an album titled For All The Dogs should’ve been “more aggressive.” “He came out with this slow joint with SZA,” he previously remarked. The release of Drake’s “Slime You Out” comes as he continues to finish up work on his new album, For All The Dogs. The project is due for release on October 6, 2023. Be on the lookout for further updates on the album on HotNewHipHop.

Drake Unleashes On Charlamagne Tha God, Calls Him A “F*cking Goof”

Drake is someone who has always been extremely protective of his brand. Overall, if someone is going at him, he more often than not, will respond. One person that he has seemingly been at war with over the years is Charlamagne Tha God. In numerous interviews, Charlamagne has questioned Drizzy’s sexuality while also saying he sings too much. Although these criticisms seem ridiculous, they always go viral. Moreover, the Canadian megastar has responded in the past, but it has been a while since he has engaged the radio host.

Recently, Charlamagne Tha God was on his podcast with Andrew Schultz, where he revealed his thoughts on the Drake and SZA collaboration, “Slime You Out.” Ultimately, Charlamagne was not impressed, and he made that crystal clear. “I think we was looking for something a little more harder, a little more aggressive than this slow joint with SZA,” Charlamagne said. On Instagram last night, Drake finally decided to respond, and he did not pull any punches.

Drake Goes Off

“Are you ok Leonard??” Drake asked. “You kinda weirding me out g. Like you really obsessed with me or something for years like you look in the mirror and wish you saw my reflection type shit. Whatever you gotta do to let it out I’m sure your 435 loyal fans will stand by you ya fucking goof.” The artist also compared Charlamagne That God to Morris Chestnut. He did this while also harkening back to the time when the radio host said Drake is his own sexual orientation.

With Drake calling out Charlamagne, we’re sure all of this is going to be addressed on The Breakfast Club this morning. The radio hosts never shy away from controversy, and a Drake beef will certainly do wonders for those ratings. Let us know what you think about all of this, in the comments section below. Drake’s SZA Collab Isn’t “Hard” Enough For Charlamagne Tha God

Earlier this month, Drake finally dropped off his eagerly-anticipated collaboration with SZA, “Slime You Out.” The single comes just ahead of the release of the Canadian-born performer’s new album, For All The Dogs. For the most part, listeners have been enjoying the laid-back track. With that being said, there is at least one person who wasn’t expecting such a mellow offering from the hitmaker, Charlamagne Tha God.

During a recent episode of The Brilliant Idiots podcast, Charlamagne shared his thoughts on the single, claiming that it wasn’t exactly what he thought was coming. According to him, not many people paid the release any attention. “Drake put out a song last Friday and nobody cared,” he says in a clip from the show. “It came out last Friday and people just started talking about the lyrics yesterday.” He continued, noting how long it took for the discussion about the song’s lyrics to begin.

Charlamagne Tha God Claims “Nobody Cared” About Drake’s New Song

“That’s not Drake-like,” Charlamagne says. “He’s gonna be fine, regardless.” He went on to discuss the possibility that listeners were expecting something heavier from the artist, based on the cover art and album title. “I think we was looking for something a little more harder, a little more aggressive than this slow joint with SZA.” When someone notes that he planned on “bringing back the old Drake” for the new LP, Charlamagne claims that he’s not familiar with Drake’s older work, so he doesn’t know whether or not it missed the mark.

Someone else then says that the track features “singing and rapping,” claiming that that’s all it takes to capture Drake’s old style. “I didn’t hear no rapping on it,” Charlamagne replied. “Unless I didn’t get through the whole song.” What do you think of Drake’s new single with SZA, “Slime You Out?” Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Drake.

Charlamagne Tha God Blasts Kenneth Petty’s “Lame” Offset Feud

The Breakfast Club joined the online debate and addressed the Kenneth Petty and Offset situation, with Charlamagne Tha God in particular having some harsh words for the former. For those unaware, Nicki Minaj’s husband wanted to confront the rapper at this year’s VMAs last week and threatened him along with some of his friends. Eventually, he jabbed at the Georgia MC by telling him to plan his own funeral. While ‘Set seemed to laugh the whole thing off, that reaction didn’t stop people from criticizing this general approach and attitude. Moreover, Charlamagne spoke on how Petty is too old to be petty now, and recalled a time during which the Internet didn’t prompt people to boast about their street life.

“You lame, like, there’s nothing fly about that type of behavior,” Charlamagne Tha God remarked to the airwaves and his co-hosts. “The reality is that he earned that, ’cause you have the audacity to be acting like that on the FBI’s Internet. You 45 years old, you already on probation, you have a crazy criminal record already. You telling somebody to plan their funeral online?

Kenneth Petty Gets Harsh Words From Charlamagne Tha God

“Like, you begging to go to prison,” Charlamagne Tha God continued. “And it’s incredible to me that all these street dudes have let the Internet make them forget street rules. Number one, you should’ve been let go of all the childish ways of the street, first and foremost. That’s number one. But number two, I remember a time where folks wouldn’t talk about any dirt over the phone. Now y’all recording yourselves in 4K and posting it online? I know law enforcement be having a ball looking at these n***as.”

Meanwhile, turns out that Petty’s actions resulted in more harsh consequences than he probably expected. After these threats became big news, a Los Angeles federal judge ordered him to serve 120 days of home detention. Maybe this is where the buck stops, but what’s clear is that nobody’s really looking for this to go any further, other than perhaps the 45-year-old. Regardless, for more news on Kenneth Petty, Offset, and Charlamagne Tha God, come back to HNHH.
