Disney Star Orlando Brown To Undergo Mental Evaluation After Arrest

That’s So Raven star Orlando Brown will be undergoing a mental evaluation following his latest arrest. The check will determine whether he’s fit to stand trial in his Ohio criminal case regarding aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor in the state. Depending on the results of the test, Brown could do a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. TMZ cites Brown’s lawyer filing documents in court for the request.

Police originally arrested Brown while responding to a call regarding a fight in progress between 2 men. The victim claims Brown came at him while wielding a knife and hammer. According to the police report, he “believed Orlando was going to assault him.” He also told police that Brown had been going “crazy.” At the time, Brown was reportedly living under the same roof as the alleged victim. The victim also helped land Brown a movie role, which he has since lost due to the arrest.

Brown has dealt with a myriad of legal issues in recent years. Back in 2016, he was charged with domestic battery, obstruction of justice, drug possession with intent to sell, and possession of contraband in jail. He later appeared on Dr. Phil in 2018. During the episode, he made several viral erroneous claims, such as being the son of Michael Jackson. He also admitted to struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

“A lot of drinking is what happened,” Brown said, explaining his behavior. “I was drinking a lot. I just found myself in a dark place because I couldn’t really find everybody. It’s kinda like looking for your keys, when you stop looking, they’re right there type of deal. I started to realize what was in front of me. From there, now I’m good.”

Orlando Brown is currently on house arrest as the legal proceedings continue. He posted a $25,000 bond, last week, to get out of jail. Brown starred as Eddie Thomas on That’s So Raven, which aired on Disney Channel from 2003 to 2007.

R. Kelly’s Rep Responds After Prosecutor Drops Sex Abuse Charges

R Kelly isn’t relieved, despite prosecutors dropping sex abuse charges.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said she wants to dismiss sex abuse charges against R Kelly, though this news isn’t necessarily a relief to the embattled singer.

Per TMZ, the singer’s rep, Jennifer Bonjean, said she spoke to him following Foxx’s decision. Though she praised the State’s Attorney’s move, she said Kelly continues to face the reality of remaining behind bars for the rest of his life.

Foxx revealed that her decision to reel back from pursuing these charges against Kelly were due to numerous factors, including the cost. Additionally, she said that the federal court already convicted him on two similar counts. “[R. Kelly] is looking at the possibility of never walking out of prison again,” she said. “We believe justice has been served,” she added.

Though the sex abuse charges aren’t necessarily weighing on Kelly’s shoulders, there’s still a good chance he won’t be free anytime soon. “There is no real sense of relief. He is still fighting for his life. He is facing decades in prison,” Bonjean said, adding that Foxx made “the right move” to drop the charges.

Prosecutors accused Kelly of sexually abusing four people, three of which were minors at the time.

During his New York trial, a judge sentenced Kelly to 30 years behind bars. However, his sentencing in Illinois takes place in February and could lead to an additional 10 to 90 years behind bars. Sexual abuse charges or not, Kelly won’t be coming home anytime soon.

Alec Baldwin’s “Rust” Shooting Charges Don’t Include Director Joel Souza

Over a year after cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins tragically lost her life on the film set of Rust, Alec Baldwin – who set off the deadly weapon – is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter. The reactions to this news are incredibly polarizing. Some are insisting that the 30 Rock alum doesn’t deserve the potential punishment.

Interestingly, the same bullet that killed the Ukraine-born creative also struck the movie’s director, Joel Souza. He was injured, but thankfully survived the unfortunate incident.

While he’ll possibly face repercussions for Hutchins’ death, the District Attorney says Baldwin won’t be in trouble for shooting Souza. According to the Santa Fe DA, “there’s no crime” in the latter. The only way to categorize what happened is “unintentional battery,” which doesn’t exist.

Battery requires intent, as TMZ notes. The DA also said that “Baldwin had no intention to hurt anyone.” Rather, the charges he’s facing are due to his alleged recklessness.

The outlet spoke with Douglas Stewart, who was filming on the Rust set before Hutchins’ death. Earlier this weekend he gave an interview TMZ Live, telling hosts that in the decades he’s been in the industry, it’s never been standard practice for an actor to check the chamber. In fact, he claims they’re prohibited from doing so. Instead, they usually rely on the armourer to ensure things are running safely.

If this case goes to trial, Baldwin’s attorneys will likely use this argument, stating their client was following an on-set custom which wouldn’t constitute recklessness.

As you may know, the 64-year-old was also an Executive Producer on Rust. During his interview, Stewart alleged that this was mostly to earn back-end profits, and not because he was “running the show.”

The actor’s formal charges will likely come prior to the month’s end.

Finesse2Tymes Concert Shooting: 2 People Charged

More information is being shared about a shooting that took place earlier this week at a Finesse2Tymes concert. Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday (January 2), an altercation reportedly broke out during the show. The event was at My Canna Buds in Knoxville, Tennessee, and three people were injured during the fray.

A report by WREG now states that two people have been named in connection with the shooting. Jackie Netterville, 22, and Gino Mickens, 20, have been charged with reckless endangerment. Additionally, Mickens is said to have also had several “outstanding felony warrants out of Florida.”

Meanwhile, Netterville has not yet been located. Mickens is in custody.

Finesse2Tymes seemingly reacted to the shooting in a video uploaded to social media. He was seen complaining about the promoter who, according to the rapper, was intoxicated.

Finesse questioned why the promoter was putting his arm around the rapper’s neck and acting unprofessionally.

However, it was alleged that whoever was involved in the shooting also robbed the cannabis store. Of the three victims injured during the incident, two have been released from the hospital.

WREG also reported police have interviewed over 25 people, and “at least seven firearms were recovered.”

It is unclear if investigators have any other suspects at this time. Finess2Tymes has not commented on the Netterville or Mickens’s charges at this time. It is also unclear if they are connected to the rapper.

YSL RICO Update: Young Thug Being Charged With 8 Counts

As the world awaits YSL’s forthcoming RICO trial, it appears as if there’s a new positive development in the case.

Several members of the crew have taken plea deals in order to be released from jail. Young Thug remains behind bars.

On Wednesday (January 4), however, it was announced that the 31-year-old is only being hit with 8 charges. He was possibly facing up to 65 counts. The eight charges include conspiracy to violate the R.I.C.O. act, two counts of participation in criminal street gang activity and possession of both marijuana and codeine with intent to distribute.

Furthermore, the “Best Friend” rapper faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and possession of a machine gun.

The Allegations

Additionally, the judge read out the allegations against the YSL crew in court earlier today. “Jeffrey Williams [Thug] and Atlanta-based hip-hop artists made YSL a well-known name by referring to it in his songs and on social media. YSL uses a variety of identifiers including colors, clothing, tattoos, hand signs, as well as verbal and written identifiers,” reads Judge Ural Glanville.

“YSL claims affiliation with the national Bloods gang and some associates also claim the Blood subset gangs, Sex, Money, Murder or 30d. YSL associates often display their colors by wearing a green or red bandana on their person, a practice known as flagging,” he continues afterwards.

Further allegations include using other hand gestures and the “SLATT” saying as a way of identifying themselves as gang members. “More allegations read: #YSL assc. make two-guns hand sign by forming pistols w/fingers & pointing them in opposite directions. BLAT[T] (Blood Love All the Time). SLAT[T] (Slime Love All the Time). Emojis include:green heart, green snake, blowing nose, green vomit,” writes journalist Cathy Russon in a subsequent tweet.

Evidently, these accusations attempt to label Young Thug and his fellow YSL crew as gang members. Authorities allege that they are more than just artists who are part of the YSL record label.

Regardless, it’s certainly good news that Thugger is only being charged with eight counts out of a possible 65.

Yung Joc Asks Why It’s Controversial To Listen To R. Kelly’s Music

Yung Joc wants to know why it’s controversial to listen to R. Kelly‘s music after his conviction. Speaking with VladTV, he brought up other people’s art, such as Harvey Weinstein, and audiences still watching their movies.

“Why is that all of his music has to be banned, why is that?” Yung Joc asked. “Because it’s so many other people who have done things bad, been convicted for it and their TV shows are still running or their music is still being streamed and played and sold… It’s like we get the harshest punishment, man.”

“I’m not saying that in some cases it’s not deserved. You know, you earned that,” he admitted. “I ain’t saying that. That’s not the case, but I’m just saying, we do get the harsher punishment. Because I ain’t gon’ lie, R. Kelly made some great music.”

He continued to describe his music as” timeless” and important to “my childhood to my adolescence to my adulthood?”

“Oh, he did something bad so I’m supposed to just clearly wipe him out of my mind?” Joc added.

Joc finished by reiterating: “It’s like why has no one pushed for these things to happen to other offenders in the world? That’s what I want to say, because it’s just crazy to me.”

Kelly is currently behind bars for federal sex crimes. In September, a jury found him guilty of three counts of child pornography, and three counts of enticing minors for sex.

Joc’s comments come ahead of the premiere of Surviving R. Kelly: The Final Chapter in January.

According to TMZ, it all began when a police officer noticed a broken-down BMW car blocking a road. Upon investigating and taking Ray’s information, he says he discovered a number of outstanding warrants. The “Paperwork Party” rapper was subsequently arrested.

The charges include improper possession of a weapon, driving with a suspended license and missing a child custody court appearance. They are all just misdemeanours.

The report from TMZ further indicates that the car is brand new. Ray had allegedly just driven it off of the lot.

The Detroit native is undeniably one of the hottest rappers of 2022, coming off yet another successful year. He dropped two full-length projects, as well as a number of singles this year alone.

Beginning with the release of FACE in January, the 31-year-old has continued to flood the streets with his music.

Arriving two months later, the LP’s deluxe includes eight additional songs and boasts features from DJ ESCO, Lil Yachty, LUCKI, Veeze and Baroline.

Meek Mill Shares Young Thug Story In Light Of New Charges

In light of new charges against Young Thug, Meek Mill shared a story about the Atlanta rapper on Twitter, Tuesday. A grand jury charged Thug with four more counts including street racing, reckless driving, speeding, and more.

“Quick young thug story,” Meek began in the tweet. “It was a kid that was keeping his lights on at a detention center and kept getting in trouble … we found out he was being raped by his uncle at night so he wanted the lights on …I called thug he stayed on the phone with him til sun up on ft!”

Followers had a mixed reaction to the story with many being confused by Meek’s wording. “You didn’t save the boy Meek?” one user wrote, while another added on, “Do you know how many times I had to read this to understand wtf was exactly going on?”

Thug’s new charges are related to an alleged incident on May 21, 2021. He was reportedly driving 120 miles per hour on Interstate 85 while not wearing a seat belt and street racing. All of the new charges are misdemeanors.

Police first arrested Thug back in May 2022 as part of a sweeping RICO indictment against members of YSL. He has been in jail throughout the months since. In addition to Thug, authorities arrested Gunna and 27 other people involved in the organization.

Jury selection will begin on Jan. 5, 2023. If convicted, Thug could face up to 20 years in prison as well as a fine of $250,000.

Check out Meek Mill’s story regarding Young Thug below.

Young Thug Receives More Charges As He & Gunna Await RICO Trial

With less than a month until the YSL RICO trial officially begins, Young Thug is receiving another slew of charges. Thankfully, these ones are just misdemeanours. Still, though, they’re causing speedbumps for the “Day Before” hitmaker on his hopeful road to freedom.

On Monday (December 12), WSB-TV broke the news that Jeffrey Williams is in hot water for street racing, reckless driving, and speeding. He apparently drove a vehicle at 120 MPH during a May joyride on Interstate 85.

In response to these new claims, Thugger’s attorney, Brian Steel is maintaining his client’s innocence. “As of two weeks ago, that case was being resolved with a seatbelt violation,” he explained in a statement. “Today, now its indicted in the Fulton County Superior Court.”

Because of this, the rapper’s legal team deeply feels as though the system is doing him wrong.

Days before these new accusations came out, headlines revealed that prosecutors are currently working to ban video cameras from the January trial. At this time, several witnesses have been expressing concern for their safety if their testimony goes public.

“The State is concerned that video recordings of witnesses’ and victims’ faces could endanger these individuals’ safety,” a motion filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis says.

She also wrote, “The State is concerned about the impact upon due process and the truth-finding function of the judicial proceeding. Witnesses may be afraid to testify and provide full information if they are aware they are being video-recorded, and that their personal safety could be jeopardized as a result of their testimony.”

Previously, Willis filed another motion attempting to have the YSL RICO trial pushed back to March of next year. Her reasoning was to ensure that everyone in the indictment has adequate legal representation.

However, a Judge wants to ensure that Young Thug and Gunna have a fair chance at freedom. They’ve each been denied bond multiple times since their arrest in May. Read more about that here, and check back with HNHH later for more hip-hop news updates.
