Santana recently made headlines while reflecting on his experience with his sexuality. In doing so, he admitted that he hopes he won’t have to raise a child who also ends up being gay. “I think for me, just being honest – I’m just worried about how to raise a kid and just me being gay,” he said during an upcoming interview with VH1’s For The Fellas. “And I feel like if I have a son, I wouldn’t want my son to be gay. And not because nothing is wrong with it but because of everything I went through. I don’t look at it as self-hate because I love myself more than anybody. I think that it’s just not easy, I want better and I don’t even know if better is the right word because it’s not saying… To me, nothing is wrong with being gay.” That full interview will be dropping on December 15.

Taraji P. Henson Admits She Initially Ignored Oprah Winfrey’s Call For “The Color Purple”

Taraji P. Henson says she nearly missed out on hearing about being cast in the upcoming film, The Color Purple, after ignoring Oprah Winfrey’s phone call to break the news. Henson will be playing the character, Shug Avery, in the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel of the same name. Speaking with Essence, Henson explained she’ll “never forget” the day she learned she got the part.

“I saved my recording. I don’t answer calls from numbers that I don’t know, and Oprah’s number comes up unknown,” Henson shared. “Tyler Perry hit me and was like, ‘Are you answering your phone?’ I was like, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘Girl, just answer the phone!’ I’ll never forget the day. I was so nervous. What do you say to Oprah? I was practicing my, ‘Hi! Hello! Yes, Oprah!’ And finally, she came on the phone and told me, ‘Shug Avery is coming to town!’ It was the best moment ever.”

Henson also revealed she previously shot down being involved in a Broadway adaptation out of fear she “was going to blow out [her] vocal chords.” This time around, she felt she could handle the burden. She explained: “You go in the studio, you sing the song, and then they play it on the set. So you don’t have to really sing full-out. It’s the difference between singing that one time in the studio (and) singing eight nights in a row on Broadway.”

Outside of Henson, the film stars Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, H.E.R., Halle Bailey, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, and Fantasia Barrino. The Color Purple will hit theaters on December 25, 2023. Be on the lookout for further updates on the movie on HotNewHipHop.

Some have speculated that the actor, who previously struggled with subtance abuse, had relapsed prior to the incident. Athenna Crosby recalled her final moments with Perry during an interview with Fox News Digital, claiming that she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary with him when they met for lunch that week.

“I am now recalling all of the details about it just because the situation has been so tragic. And I’ve been kind of thinking like, ‘OK, was there anything that I, I guess, should have noticed or was there anything that stuck out to me?’ And honestly, no, there wasn’t,” she explained. “He was so normal. He ordered a cheeseburger and had a Diet Coke and really just a normal day like any other day.” What do you think of the cast of Friends attending Matthew Perry’s funeral? 50 Cent Trolls Redman Over Explanation For “Power” Departure

50 Cent has reacted to Redman’s recent explanation as to why he left the tv series, Power. The rapper had revealed that he refused to return to Season 3 of Power Book II: Ghost because vaccination was mandatory to be on set. 50 Cent shared a clip of the comments on Instagram, Saturday.

“I walked away from Power,” Redman explained. “I walked away from Power after the second episode because everybody on the show had to have the jab and I wasn’t with it. That’s what I’m saying. You have to stand your ground. Like, would Power have been a game changer for me? Yes. The money was good. It’s a well-known show that could’ve helped my career. But, is my health less important than being on the show? Fuck no!”

McHale then clarified that Chevy Chase won’t be returning. “Yeah, I don’t think so,” McHale said, before joking, “There wasn’t any issues at all when we were making the show.” When the cast reunited for a virtual table read back in 2020, Pedro Pascal read for a guest-starring role originally played by Walton Goggins. McHale noted that they’d love to have either return for the film. “Hopefully Walton and Pedro would come back on, but Pedro seems to be the most famous person now on the planet, so I don’t know,” he said.

He added that he expects the movie to begin filming next summer. Despite McHale’s comments, Peacock still hasn’t announced Glover’s involvement in the film. While cast members expressed hope about him being able to join in the past, he wasn’t included in the official cast when Peacock announced the movie, last year.

Metro Boomin To Appear In “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”

Metro Boomin will be making an appearance in the upcoming film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He made the announcement on social media, last week, sharing a clip of his character from a new TV spot. Metro previously revealed that he is handling the soundtrack to the sequel for 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Writer Phil Lord discussed the decision to bring in Metro during a post on the official Spider-Verse account. “That’s a high bar to clear,” Lord wrote. “So, for this next movie we brought in some reinforcements. This time we are working with legendary Metro Boomin. If anybody is going to be able to make something that feels like it’s Miles’ experience, that guy knows what he’s doing.”

As for what fans can expect from the new film, co-director Kemp Powers recently explained that they’ll be bringing in lots of new and old characters for the story. “The new Spider-Verse movie coming to your theaters in just over two months is a continuation of the story of Miles Morales,” Powers said told the audience at CinemaCon. “In this film, we’re going to explore new dimensions and bring in lots of characters old and new, but they still relate to the same emotional journey of miles and his family.”

The star of the film, Shamiek Moore, added: “It’s been over a year after the events of the first move. Miles is still trying to figure out how to be a superhero. In the first film he learned that anyone can wear the mask and in this film, Miles discovers that it’s how you wear the mask that really makes you a hero. And the only person who really understands what he’s going through is, of course, Gwen Stacy.” Check out the latest trailer for the movie below.

Fans were excited for Cudi in the comments section of his announcement. While Cudi didn’t reveal his role, one user theorized, “I have a hunch that Cudi might be the crocodile from Chaotix.” Another wrote, “Kid Cudi as Shadow Sonic, possibly, thoughts people.”

As reported by Deadline, the series will “follow Knuckles on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior.” It will take place between Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Alongside Kid Cudi, the cast includes Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, and Ellie Taylor. Tika Sumpter will also reprise her role as Maddie in a guest-starring role. The series is currently in production. Jeff Fowler, who directed the films, will be handling the pilot episode. Other directors handling further episodes include Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker. While there’s no release date, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will hit theaters on December 20, 2024.

Paramount CEO Brian Robbins first announced the film back in 2022, explaining the decision during an interview with Variety. “You can’t just make a movie, see how it does and then decide to make another one, because if you do that, it will be years between sequels,” he said at the time. “Like Sonic, we’re going to take a spinoff character Knuckles and do a miniseries on Paramount+, which will transition us into the third Sonic movie with lots of Easter eggs.”

Gabrielle Union Reveals Who She’d Want To Play Her In A Biopic

Gabrielle Union says that she’d want Ryan Destiny or Coco Jones to play her in a biopic about her life. If the story were to take place at an older age, she’d go with Ashanti or Janet Jackson. Union discussed the hypothetical casting during a recent interview with Hello Beautiful. For the piece, Union spoke with the creator of the MeToo movement, Tarana Burke.

“I think young me would be somewhere between Ryan Destiny, Coco Jones,” Gabrielle Union said when asked for a casting. “And then older me? I’d say Janet. Maybe Ashanti could play me in my 30s, early 40s—and then Miss Janet.”

The interview comes amid Union’s appearance in season three of Apple TV+’s true crime drama Truth Be Told. The iconic actress plays Eva, a high school principal driven by raising awareness for missing Black girls in her community. Speaking with the outlet, Union explained that she was looking to take on more light-hearted roles at the time she was cast. However, she says that she trusts Octavia Spencer, who stars in the series, and decided to take on the role for her.

“After The Inspection tapped into darkness in me, I wasn’t prepared to confront it (in a healthy way). I was still reeling and unwinding from that. I was like, ‘I can’t do any more darkness, but I can coast through some comedies, so please let’s concentrate on comedies for 2022,’” Union recalled.

She continued: “My team was like, ‘I know you want to concentrate on comedies but we have this offer to do season three of Truth Be Told with Octavia. We know you guys are friends, but we just think this subject matter is something you might be interested in.’ Octavia must have hit me right after that, and we talked a bit. We have been trying to work together again for over 20 years. I trust her in a way that I don’t trust most people in this town in our industry, which is saying a lot. So if I was gonna do it, it would need to be with someone I trust, like Octavia.”
