B.G. Was Officially Released From Prison According To His Aunt

Some major breaking news comes from theJasmineBrand surrounding the situation with Hot Boys member, B.G. According to theJasmineBrand’s sources close to B.G., he is going to be released from prison earlier than anticipated. That person is the artist’s aunt, who confirmed this in a social media post. This is terrific news for him and his family as it was originally predicted he would not be a free man until at least April 7, 2024. The Cash Money 1993 signee was charged with accounts of witness tampering as well as illegal gun possession back in 2009.

According to reports and from theJasmineBrand, this all went down at a traffic stop in New Orleans. Authorities uncovered three guns, two of which were reported stolen, inside the vehicle B.G. was operating. Before that though, he was already booked on an illegal carrying of weapons charge. But, B.G. allegedly pressured one of his associates into falsely claiming ownership of the firearms. Then, two years later on December 7, 2011, he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice. Finally, in July 2012 B.G. was handed down 14 years in federal prison on top of three years of federal supervision after his release.

It has obviously been a long and arduous road for him and his family. As previously stated, his aunt broke the news over social media. She says “I want to thank all of the supporters that have prayed for my nephew release. Its now BG free. Best gift ever is freedom.” However, this is not the only form of support he has received while being locked up. Birdman, Boosie Badazz, Gucci Mane, and more have always kept him in the back of their minds.

What are your initial thoughts on Hot Boys rap member, B.G., being released from prison? Do you think it was right for him to be taken out sooner than expected? If he decides to drop new music, are you going to be tuning in? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. B.G. Leaving Prison Soon, Reports Suggest He’ll Be Out In “A Few Days”

Cash Money rapper B.G. has been in prison for over a decade stemming from witness tampering and illegal gun possession charges from 2009. Moreover, the rap game often spoke on his condition before this most recent update, whether it was his collaborators or other hip-hop figures. However, new reports suggest that the Hot Boys MC will see an early release from jail, although the information is a bit murky. Specifically, theJasmineBrand spoke to allegedly close sources to him and said that he’ll be out in “a few days.” If this is true, then he would be a free man about seven months ahead of schedule as his last predicted sentence completion date was April 7, 2024.

Furthermore, as of writing this article, no official sources have spoken out about the reportedly early close to this 14-year sentence. Hopefully this is accurate information, and B.G. can return home following retribution and doing his due time responsibly. Of course, there are still plenty of reasons to take this hopefully news with a grain of salt. After all, this is far from the first time that rumors surfaced around the New Orleans native’s return, and past instances never materialized.

Most recently, though, Boosie Badazz updated fans on his status during an interview and said he’d be “released this year.” “I’m talking to him every day now,” he remarked of B.G.’s current conditions. “I got the email now. I got the email set up on my phone so I can email him. [He doesn’t have] an actual release date, but he should be home in like three, four months. They already went to the [halfway] house and checked the house where he’s coming to.

“He got a few b***hes he want,” the Baton Rogue MC continued. “He got a few celebrity crushes he want me to slide in their DM and tell ’em. Birdman Begs NBA YoungBoy To Save Hip-Hop: “We Need You, Man”

In a new clip, Birdman is seen making a pretty hefty request of NBA YoungBoy. The two of them appear to be on a FaceTime call, during which Birdman claims that hip hop isn’t doing too well. He calls for the 23-year-old to save the genre, explaining to him that at this point, “this sh*t too watered down.” “We need you, man,” he tells the young rapper.

“The f*ck, man?” Birdman continues before getting reassured. “You gotta save Hip Hop, bruh. Nephew, gotta save this sh*t bruh. Real talk.” Luckily, NBA YoungBoy seems to already have plans to do so. “I see it’s watered down. I’m finna come, though,” NBA YoungBoy says. The clip was showcased on the rapper’s Instagram page, alongside what appears to be a teaser for his next album. “Back at it #albumtime,” he captioned the post. This was far from the first time the Cash Money mogul sung the praises of the performer. He’s even previously claimed that NBA YoungBoy is like family to him.

Birdman Tells NBA YoungBoy “This Sh*t Too Watered Down”

In his 2022 Billboard cover story, Birdman reflected on working alongside YoungBoy on their collaborative mixtape, From the Bayou. He revealed that the young artist is like a son to him, noting how he was able to spot his potential right away. “Watching how fast he do music and the value of the music, I saw a lot of similarities between him and Wayne,” he explained to the outlet. “I seen stardom in him, but I knew it was a process.”

He went on to describe teaching YoungBoy that he could make a living from his craft. “I once was somebody like him,” Birdman shared, “And had to gamble my life.” He continued, “I wanted to show him that he could really survive off his talent. You could go to jail, or you could die, or you could try to be somebody.”

Jim Jones Reflects On Meeting Kevin Gates: “I Just Felt His Energy”

During a recent conversation on the Drink Champs podcast, Jim Jones reflected on meeting Kevin Gates for the first time. Apparently, he had no choice but to meet the rapper, who was freshly out of prison at the time. According to Jones, he refused to even consider signing to Cash Money otherwise. Ultimately the artist went with Atlantic instead, but at least he got to meet one of his idols.

“Shoutout to Kevin Gates,” Jones started the story. “One of them called me like, ‘Yo, Birdman tryna sign this artist. His name is Kevin Gates and he just came home from jail. He the biggest thing going, and Birdman tryna sign him, but we got one problem: he’s not going to sign to Birdman unless he meets Jim Jones.’” Ultimately, Jones decided to do Birdman a solid and meet with the up-and-coming artist.

Jim Jones Says Kevin Gates Insisted On Meeting Him

“I was like, ‘What?’ They was like, ‘Yeah, he in the city right now. Can we bring him to you? ‘Cause Birdman needs to sign this artist.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, tell him to pull up.’ Kevin Gates pull up. He still had on the khakis, still looking like he was fresh out of jail. I just felt his energy.” Jones says that upon meeting the artist, he knew right away that he belonged. They also went on to work on some music that evening, fulfilling Gates’ demands. “You knew he was one of us. Like, he came from the same places we came from and things like that. We sat in there. Did five records that night. Then after that, Cash Money got to do business with him.”

Though Kevin Gates didn’t end up signing to Cash Money, the encounter with Birdman early in his career still shaped his path in some ways. In an interview with VladTV in 2014, he revealed that Birdman had a major influence on him. Apparently, he even inspired him to start his own label, Bread Winners’ Association. “That’s gonna always be my family,” he said of Birdman, “for what he told me, what he taught me.”

Birdman Presses Druski Over Coulda Been Records: “You Trying To Step On My Toes”

Birdman finally addressed Druski’s Coulda Been Records. Over the past few years, Druski’s faux record label, which seemingly takes cues from Cash Money Records, provided us with wild viral clips and endless laughter as the comedian embodies the role of a sleazy record executive. However, it’s hard to deny that Druski’s taken inspiration from Birdman for this character. Unfortunately, Baby didn’t find it flattering one bit and finally appeared on Druski’s Instagram Live show, leaving the comedian shook. “I’ve been looking for you, n***a,” Birdman told a visibly rattled Druski.

“I heard you was in my neck of the woods, right? I didn’t think it would be gangsta if I pulled up on you right? So, I said – you know I got a few b*tches that are steppers, right?” he continued. That’s when Druski explained that he’s worked with Drake and NBA Youngboy.. “It’s like you trying to step on my toes. You lil young n***as got the game f*cked up, n****. I am that n****, n***a. I’m watching this shit that you doin’. What the fuck is this record label you starting? How the fuck you doin’ this sh*t without the mothaf*ckin’ –,” he added.

Cash Money Vs. Coulda Been Records

At this point, Druski attempted to explain himself, adding that he’d like to work with Lil Wayne in the future. However, when Druski mentioned that he tried to trademark Coulda Been Records, tensions flared, once again. “Put some respek on my name. You playin’ with that f*cking record label. Coulda Been Records – that sounds like CMB,” Birdman continued. “How the f*ck can you trademark that? How can you trademark something that a n***a been working 35-36, blood money — …. I’m confused, bruh,” he said.

Overall, Birdman said that he has mixed feelings towards Druski’s Coulda Been Ventures. “First of all, I like what you doing but I don’t like what you doin’ ‘cause you f*ckin’ with fire. You f*ckin’ with real gangsta sh*t,” he said. Druski then gave a shout out to Ms. Gladys before explaining that he was trying to get his money up before reaching out to Birdman. Fortunately, the thought of money was enticing and led Birdman to a business proposal for Druski.

Birdman’s Proposal

Instead of sending a cease and desist, as he allegedly once did to Jay-Z, Birdman stated that he would rather go into business. “I got a proposition for you. I’m watchin’ what you doin’ and I like what you doin’. You done came up! And you got this sh*t all on TV. How about you keep running this sh*t and I buy your sh*t into my sh*t and we become one and I help you become a mega star with your fake a** label you’re running around with,” he said. “I got unlimited amount of money.”

“I don’t do all this fake ass internet IG sh*t. I’m not an internet gangsta,” he said. “I’m watchin’ this sh*t. I study the game. I’m like ‘Let me call this lil fake ass sh*t this n***a doin’ out and holla at him, and just look, make a proposition to youngin’, and let’s see how we could do it.” Birdman also said that he had issues with Kevin Hart and it seems like that extends to all of the comedians. “Nah, all y’all comedy n***as together. I ain’t duckin’ nothin’,” he added before hanging up. Check out the clip above.

Birdman Scammed Out Of $5.4 Million In Oil Business

Birdman is a heavily influential figure in Southern hip-hop, but even the business mogul has his slip-ups from time to time. However, it’s not easy to call this instance a misstep, since it was a straight-up scam as he entered the oil business. Moreover, he and his brother Slim founded an oil and gas exploration company called BRONALD Oil and Gas, but their extracurricular business got them in some trouble. Between March 2006 and November 2010, around 20 people were impacted by an individual named Mark Roy Anderson swindling the duo for $5.4 million. The FBI tracked him down for ten years, interviewed Baby and Slim, and eventually caught him, resulting in an eleven-year prison sentence.

Furthermore, the story (according to the Daily Beast) goes that Anderson allegedly stole a million dollars from a Dallas real estate broker, plus some other investors. After authorities issued a civil suit that he dodged, officials launched a criminal investigation, convicted him, and fined him $130,000. However, it’s unclear where Birdman fits into this narrative. What we do know is that the two met between April and September of 2008, with Baby wiring him the $5.4 million in that timeframe.

In addition, the Cash Money executive met up in person with Anderson in Oklahoma to “specifically to see the oil leases” and verify his investments. Then, Anderson disappeared from the oil industry after playing Birdman and other individuals who had put up money. In 2011, the FBI interviewed the New Orleans native in their efforts to track Anderson down. Unfortunately, it seems like the scammer didn’t learn his lesson, as he was arrested again in 2020. This time, it was for a three-year hemp farm scam, on which investors wasted around $9 million.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old spent a lot of time this year advocating for CEOs to be part of hip-hop’s 50th anniversary celebrations. Still, maybe he’s not going about it in the best way. After all, comparing Quality Control’s P and Diddy while putting one of them down seems like more competitive than celebratory. Regardless, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Birdman.

Rob49 On Birdman Passing The Torch & Names His Top 5 NOLA Rappers Of All Time

New Orleans is a pivotal city in hip-hop’s landscape. A place where the entrepreneurial ventures of Birdman and Master P set the blueprint for independent rap across the world and elevated the names of artists like Lil Wayne and Snoop Dogg to GOAT status. Birdman, specifically, has made a concerted effort to elevate the South throughout the years, whether forming groups like Rich Gang or going to bat for artists like NBA Youngboy. The latest rapper that Birdman took under his wing is Rob49 – the 24-year-old rapper that’s ushering in a new era for NOLA.

On Friday, June 8th, he unveiled his latest body of work 4GOD II, a culmination of his ascent to stardom in the past year. It arrived ahead of his second annual Vulture Island Weekend in his hometown which included a celebrity basketball game and a concert where he was able to connect with fans for the first time in a long time. Ultimately, it was an event that furthers the notion that he currently holds the throne for the city. It’s no surprise that Birdman officially passed him the torch on the intro to 2022’s Welcome To Vulture Island – an act that seemed like a far-fetched reality to him a few years ago.

“When he first did it, it really didn’t mean nothing to me,” he told HotNewHipHop of his initial reaction to Birdman formally passing him the torch. That is until a few months ago when he revisited the intro to Welcome To Vulture Island. “I was like, man, this is the new New Orleans, like this is Birdman. I started thinking about where I was when I was in high school and middle school and shit. We would listen to this sh*t and it was just so far-fetched for us. I’m just like, ‘damn, this is really it and he’s giving it to you,’ so it was a big thing for me.”

Birdman’s become a guiding force in Rob49’s career, having been one of the first people who tried to sign the rapper to Cash Money. Although the deal didn’t pan out, the Cash Money co-founder evidently wanted to see Rob49 prosper regardless. He recently featured on the single, “Woedy” from 4GOD II, a song that Rob revealed nearly didn’t make the final cut of his album. “[Birdman] told me to stop separating my feet and put both of my feet in rap. That’s the biggest advice he told me and I did it and it worked for me. That’s the biggest advice he told me and it works,” he explained.

While Birdman came through as a pivotal force in Rob49’s career, he’s among the several New Orleans natives that helped shape the budding star’s artistry. During our conversation, he listed his top 5 NOLA rappers of all time, which includes the obvious choice of Lil Wayne. “Soulja Slim because he just reminds me of myself. Like, his wordplay, his aura – he just reminds me of myself,” he explained. “Lil Wayne because he’s just the best rapper alive.”

Although Soulja Slim became one of No Limit’s most legendary signees, it’s evident that the sounds of Cash Money resonated deeply with Rob49 throughout his come-up. In addition to Slim and Weezy, he listed Juvenile, Birdman’s nephew, Nino Calvin, and B.G. to round out his top 5. “Juvie had that project in him that we have in New Orleans,” he stated.

Biggest Misconception About New Orleans Hip-Hop?

Louisiana, as a whole, has had a grip on the hip-hop landscape, but it’s hard to deny the number of fierce lyricists. New Orleans, specifically, birthed the talents of both Lil Wayne and Jay Electronica – two MCs who’ve earned their position among hip-hop’s elite. However, New Orleans hasn’t necessarily gained a reputation for being sharp wordsmiths. Some have even gone as far to say that rappers from the city don’t even bother rhyming their words.

“I think the biggest misconception is like us with our rhyming pattern,” Rob49 said. “I know people are like, ‘Oh, they don’t rhyme,’ but New Orleans people, we talk our sh*t. Like, that’s what we grew up on, you know what I’m sayin’? We just poppin’ it. We ain’t trying to rhyme.”

Blueface Surprises Son With Stacks Of Cash: Watch

Blueface has been in the news a lot recently. He just dropped a new track, “Hello“, which is a throwback to his OG offbeat origins. He weighed in on whether or not Chrisean Rock’s baby is his. Before that, he scored a TKO in a boxing match against TikTok star Ed Matthews.

Now, as a successful rapper, Blueface isn’t a stranger to wads of cash. In fact, he even garnered some backlash when he drove around LA’s Skid Row tossing cash out of his car. But his young son isn’t quite used to being minted yet. Well, the boy got his first real taste in a birthday surprise from his dad.

Blueface’s Son Gets Stacks On Stacks

Blueface posted a video of him celebrating his son’s birthday. After wishing his son a happy birthday, the rapper begins to pile bands of cash into his son’s lap. “These are all mine? Oh thanks!” is the start of his son’s adorable reaction to having a mound of cash dumped on him. Blueface continues to add more bands to the pile as he son looks on in awe. “This is a lot! Oh shoot!” the child exclaims as he struggles to keep hold of all the money.

The child continues to melt hearts as he holds up one of the bands, “this is all of it, mine? Oh shoot!” he exclaims. And then he drops the best line of the entire video. “So I have all that…do I have presents at home?” Kid’s just had a couple grand dropped in his lap but all he wants to know is if there’s presents waiting for him at home. Absolutely priceless. The kid really doesn’t know what to do with himself as he gets shy when asked what he’s going to spend the money on. “I don’t know…shoot…” he says bashfully, adding “I didn’t know that was going to happen, shoot…” as his dad suggests “big booty sitches”. It’s likely the most adorable thing you will watch all day and will absolutely melt your heart. Be sure to check HotNewHipHop for all the latest viral videos and hip hop news.
