Tory Lanez Still Has Faith For His Release After Being Denied Bond: Report

Things haven’t been looking great for Tory Lanez. While the rapper was officially sentenced to 10 years in prison for the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, Tory remained hopeful for his release. During his sentencing, the judge received letters from a number of individuals, including Iggy Azalea, vouching on his behalf. However, this week, the rapper appeared in court to file a motion for bond as he attempts to appeal the court’s decision, though the judge denied his request.

It seems in the face of adversity, Tory Lanez continues to keep his head high. Per TMZ, CEO of Unite The People and one of the members of Tory’s legal team, Caesar McDowell, revealed the rapper called his attorneys shortly after the judge made a decision and affirmed his faith in justice being served. That said, Tory reportedly wasn’t shocked by the judge’s decision to deny him bond. He reportedly told Ceasar and his legal team that he believed this was “all in God’s plan” to begin with. Apparently, he feels as though the higher court will be more receptive to his request.

The Canadian rapper attempted to be released pending his appeal in order to live with his son and wife. The judge affirmed his decision to uphold Tory’s sentence, citing Tory’s reported history of violating court orders and his record. Additionally, the judge also noted that Tory isn’t even a citizen of the United States. The rapper’s team explained that he has been in the country legally on an active work visa. Moreover, they argued he doesn’t have any reason to return to Canada.

A jury found Tory Lanez guilty of three counts last year related to Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting. These charges include: carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Following the conviction, Tory continued to maintain his innocence, claiming that he was “wrongfully convicted” – a sentiment that his father reiterated outside of the courtroom when he declared the trial to be the “biggest miscarriage of justice.” We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding the trial.

Polo G & Family Bail Out Of Prison On Felony Charges After Police Raid: Report

Authorities reportedly released Polo G and his brother from prison on bond, and got felony charges following a Wednesday (August 23) police raid on the Chicago rapper’s home. Moreover, his mother also clarified that they released his sister as well, and she announced that Polo and his sibling Taurean came home. Both had a $100,000 bail, left jail on Thursday (August 24), and have upcoming court dates on September 12 and 13, respectively. However, after officials finished the raid, police arrested them on Wednesday for several felonies, according to TMZ Hip Hop. These include kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery, and they bonded out the following day. In addition, on Wednesday, the Hall Of Fame MC’s lawyer Bradford Cohen spoke to XXL about these developments.

“The incident surrounded someone staying in Polo’s home and not Polo directly,” he remarked to the publication. “The officers have detained [Polo G] to ‘verify’ that he is not a convicted [criminal], as they assert a firearm was found in the home. It is widely known that Polo is not convicted and never was convicted. I personally got all his charges in Miami dismissed when he was in our opinion wrongfully arrested and charged. They have refused to allow us access to our client which is also an illegal and unethical practice and someone will have to answer for these new wrongful actions.”

Furthermore, Cohen referred to an earlier 2021 incident with this statement. Authorities arrested Polo G in Miami and faced charges of “battery on a police officer, threatening a public servant, resisting an officer with violence, resisting an officer without violence, and criminal mischief.” Regarding the robbery charges, it seems authorities were concerned that he was harboring a fugitive, and other reports suggested that the robbery fugitive in question was Taurean. “Polo, Leilani, and Baby are detained,” his mother had written on social media. “An active investigation is taking place… To my knowledge, Polo is not the object / focus of the investigation. I am hopeful that the LAPD will handle this matter with tact and transparency. I will update you all as time permits.”

Polo’s Sister Speaks Out After Prison Release

Meanwhile, this threw a wrench into the 24-year-old’s release rollout, although more clicks can’t hurt. His upcoming album Hood Poet may be his last, and it’s unclear if this legal case will impact it significantly. Hopefully he’s able to sort all this out and authorities can get a clearer image of who’s at fault. On that note, keep checking in with HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Polo G.

Judge Tells Young Dolph Suspect Relaxing Bond Restrictions Could Get Him Killed

Hernandez Govan, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Young Dolph, found himself on the wrong side of Judge Lee Coffee this week. Govan was in court to petition the court to relax the limitations and conditions of his bond release. Unfortunately for Govan, that triggered an eight-minute scolding from Coffee. “You wanted to go clothes shopping. I think my response is that you have Amazon.com to deliver your clothing. You also wanted to go grocery shopping. I told you to call Kroger and have them deliver your food to your house,” Coffee told Govan.

The judge also responded to elements of the petition in which Govan requested permission to seek full-time employment while awaiting trial. “I don’t see any reason at all why this court should relax those conditions and say ‘Mr. Govan, we’re going to let you go back to being a fully fledged person with no restrictions at all, go to work when you want to, go shopping when you want to, leave the county when you want go, go to other places when you want to.” He was also informed that Govan had taken several trips out of state since being released on bond in May. “That’s a violation of your bond,” Coffee said. ” I don’t know who gave you permission, but unless you hear from Judge Coffee. It can’t be done unless it’s approved by this court.”

Judge Tells Young Dolph Suspect Bond Is For His Own Safety

However, Coffee also had a much sterner warning for Govan. It also served as an explanation as to why his bond was so strict. “You are probably aware that Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee is the first most violent metropolitan area in the country. This case has generated a substantial amount of publicity. If you’re running around free in Shelby County, Mr. Govan, knock on wood, somebody might be trying to kill you, sir.”

To conclude, Coffee told Govan to stop requesting relaxations and told him that he could always be sent back to jail. “Mr. Govan, you should be blessed that you are on bond,” Judge Coffee said. “The only other resolution for Judge Coffee is to put you back in jail pending disposition of these charges. Your lawyers have done a great job in getting you released on bond until these cases are settled. But, I do not intend, and I want you to hear me clear, I do not intend, unless there is a substantial change, I do not intend to change the conditions of this bond and say ‘Look, I’ve thought about this and I’m willing to relax this.”

YNW Melly Looks To Secure Bond Ahead Of New Murder Trial

At this point, many of you already know about the YNW Melly trial and everything that took place. Overall, the trial did not go smoothly for the prosecution or the defense. In the end, the jury could not come to a decision. This subsequently led to a mistrial that was talked about extensively. Now, Melly is going to have to go through a second murder trial on October 9th. There will be a whole new jury, and the prosecution is going to have to find some new angles if they want a conviction.

As for Melly and his legal team, they want him to be free, at least until the trial starts again. For almost half of a decade, YNW Melly has been behind bars, despite not being convicted of anything. Many find this to be an injustice, especially since YNW Bortlen has had bond this whole time. That said, according to NBC Miami, Melly’s team has officially filed their motion to get a bond hearing. Whether or not it is successful, remains to be seen.

YNW Melly Seeks Another Win

Typically, murder is something that is not eligible for bond. However, Melly’s legal team believes the circumstances would support it in this instance. Moreover, they do believe the judge has the power to do it. While the chances are fairly low at this point, his fans remain hopeful that he will get his freedom, at least in some capacity. As for the trial, there is this sense that Melly could win yet again, especially given the struggles of the prosecution last time around.

There should be more updates on the YNW Melly trial very soon. That said, be sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the music world. Additionally, let us know what you think of all this, in the comments section below. We’re sure a lot of you have strong opinions on what has gone down here.

Young Thug’s Sister Reacts To Quando Rondo Getting Bond Before Him

Young Thug’s sister, Dolly White, believes that another famous rapper got off easy on gang-related charges while her brother remains behind bars. Moreover, she reacted on Twitter to the news of Quando Rondo getting a $100K bond on charges of allegedly leading the Rollin’ 60s gang, drug-related charges, and other crimes. Given the nature of these allegations, it’s easy to compare his sprawling indictment with 18 codefendants to that of Thug and YSL. In addition, White also lamented the unsuccessful (as of writing this article) search for jurors in her brother’s criminal case. Most importantly, she questioned why a failing system gives one person bond on these charges but leaves another in the dust.

“So quando got a bond on Rico charges but they won’t give Jeff one,” White tweeted of Young Thug’s situation in relation to Quando Rondo’s, although she’s probably not suggesting that Rondo should be in jail for more. In subsequent tweets, she elaborated on her thoughts. “Let alone found not one juror to start the process,” White wrote. “The system failing us when they won’t Free Jeff already damn.” While both cases are surely quite different, the quest for Thugger’s bond proved to be much more difficult than many likely expected.

Dolly White Laments That Quando Rondo Got Bond, But Young Thug Hasn’t

For one, the necessity of bond was stressed when the Atlanta trap pioneer was hospitalized amid reports of poor health and fatigue. Also, it’s been over a year since Young Thug and other YSL member were arrested, and yet there’s been little progress in the trial. As such, Dolly White’s clamors join a whole host of others online that beg for Thug and company’s release. Seeing other rappers’ freedom on similar charges, however unique their case may be, must be a frustrating experience. Nevertheless, hopefully this changes soon and we at least see swift development in the RICO indictment to at least keep family members out of limbo.

All that said, the 31-year-old continues to make huge impacts in the game, even from a jail cell. He just released the album BUSINESS IS BUSINESS that recently had a reordered version from Metro Boomin with two new tracks, one of which features Juice WRLD and Nicki Minaj. With that, fans are happy that more of his music is coming out amid hard times, which will surely support his family and maintain his artistic legacy. Still, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s behind bars, and that more humane and equitable treatment is all that his family asks for. On that note, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Young Thug.

Kodak Black Released On $250K Bond After Turning Himself In

Recently, reports emerged that Kodak Black turned himself in to authorities concerning another arrest warrant. For those unaware, these stem from his failure to comply with mandatory drug testing in connection to a July 2022 arrest for drug trafficking. Since then, the Florida rapper has been hard at work on his music while also trying to reckon with the terms of his release. After another instance of him violating these conditions, he went to prison on Monday (June 26) to seemingly address it. However, apparently this all went quite smoothly for Yak- and even wound up being in his favor.

Now, Kodak Black is free from prison on a $250K bond, though that amount has an asterisk attached. According to TMZ reports, he stopped at a Florida jail on Monday to renegotiate the stringent terms of his release in court. After all, these mandatory drug tests and pretrial meetings have apparently been weighing heavily on the 26-year-old. Moreover, his lawyer Bradford Cohen expressed that he wanted to get rid of these restrictions, and the judge in his case actually agreed. Still, the court increased his bond from what he originally paid, $75K, to $250K.

Furthermore, this is the reason why Kodak Black went through another jail booking and took another mugshot at the Broward County jail. Nevertheless, he was reportedly in and out of prison in about an hour and paid the $175K difference to complete his new bond. Ultimately, reports indicate that Cohen is quite happy for his client and sees this as a win. Yak will no longer have to adhere to pretrial and release terms as he travels and tours around the world.

Meanwhile, the Pompano Beach MC’s recent Instagram Live, where he sat shirtless in a dark room, concerned fans. Many attributed his erratic nature to substance use, although that gossip is purely speculative. Regardless, at least it seems like the Pistolz & Pearlz artist will be able to dodge some of these issues moving forward. How the rest of his case proceeds remains to be seen. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Kodak Black.

Quando Rondo Granted $100K Bond

Authorities indicted Quando Rondo earlier this month on gang and drug-related charges alongside 18 other individuals. Moreover, the 49-count indictment alleges that the rapper has a large hand in managing the Rollin’ 60s gang in Georgia, along with several other crimes involving substances. Although this spelled out nasty news for the MC, it seems like he did his best efforts to comply promptly and respectfully in regards to his arrest warrant. In the short time in between his arrest and the public hearing more details, not much was known apart from the arrest on drug charges. Now, the case began significant development in the courtroom, and some of those proved to be positive for Rondo.

Furthermore, the Recovery artist sought bond following his incarceration, which authorities deferred for the time being. However, new reports from WSB-TV indicate that the court eventually granted him bond at $100K. Not only that, but his cooperation regarding his quick arrest after a warrant actually helped him out in this regard. “The court finds it significant that the defendant surrendered himself for arrest the day after he learned of the warrant for his arrest,” the judge reportedly stated. In addition, Quando Rondo must give up his passports, refuse contact with codefendants, and attend every court hearing.

Quando Rondo Gets Bond

Regardless, the rhymer still faces multiple challenges in the courtroom. One of those came from prosecutors who alleged that he told his peers to “get their guns” when they saw his enemies at a movie theater. Surely more alleged details will surface as the potential case keeps developing, whether they paint Quando Rondo in a good or bad light. What’s more is that his defense team used his strong label connections and musical career to argue for his freedom.

He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country,” attorney Jonah Pine said of his label, Atlantic Records, per WTOC. “The same record label as Led Zeppelin and Ray Charles, that’s his label. They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.” While we wait for updates, check back in with HNHH for the latest news on Quando Rondo.

Prosecutors Allege Quando Rondo Told Affiliates To Get Their Guns After Seeing His Opps

Prosecutors have claimed in court that Quando Rondo called on his affiliates to get their guns after seeing his opps at a movie theater. The state is arguing that they shouldn’t release the rapper on bond following his arrest on drug charges. DJ Akademiks shared a clip of the prosecution’s comments on Instagram, Sunday.

All-in-all, Rondo has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances law, one count of participating in criminal activity affiliated with a street gang, and one count of illegal use of a cell phone to facilitate a drug deal.

In Rondo’s defense, his attorney, Jonah Pine, argued that his client belongs to “one of the greatest record labels in this country” and that they’re willing to speak up for him. “He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country,” Pine said. “The same record label as Led Zepplin and Ray Charles, that’s his label. They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.”

On the other hand, the prosecution argues that Rondo is a top figure in the Rollin’ 60s gang and is dangerous to the public. “The Rollin’ 60s are currently one of the largest and most violent street gangs in Savannah. That man is a leader of it. That is a dangerous community,” said state attorney Christian Stolfe.

Quando Rondo Remains In Jail As Judge Defers Bond Ruling

Quando Rondo will remain in jail for the time being after the judge in his drug case chose to defer ruling on whether he should receive bond. The decision not to a make decision came after Rondo’s first day in court. During the hearing, Rondo’s attorney compared him to Led Zepplin and Ray Charles. “He’s got the support of one of the greatest record labels in this country. The same record label as Led Zepplin and Ray Charles, that’s his label,” Rondo’s defense attorney Jonah Pine told the court. “They’ve provided a letter to us, it’s very heartfelt and talks about his career.”

Furthermore, Pine pushed back against Rondo wearing an ankle monitor if he was granted bond. Pine’s argument was that Rondo’s career would make it difficult to wear an ankle monitor without violating its terms. However, state attorney Christian Stolfe argued that “The Rollin’ 60s are currently one of the largest and most violent street gangs in Savannah. That man is a leader of it. That is a dangerous community.”

Judge Defers Bond Decision

However, the day ended in a stalemate as Judge Tammy Stokes chose to defer her bond ruling for the time being. Judge Stokes said she didn’t want to rush the decision. Additionally, she said she was “taking all of the information presented by both sides and thinking it over.” That means that Rondo will remain in jail for the time being until Stokes comes a decision. A timeline for the decision has not yet been set.

Boosie Badazz Had Bond Doubled Before Jail Release

Boosie Badazz left a San Diego jail on June 23 after making bond on the federal felony gun charges he was facing. Boosie celebrated by live streaming and asking for tickets to the BET Awards. However, the moment was the end of a long ordeal for the rapper.

Prosecutors appealed a $50K bond granted to Boosie on June 20. Boosie called this decision discriminatory, stating that the prosecutor was “racist and has evil intentions.” Calling on “prayer warriors” to descend on San Diego, Booise expressed fear that someone was trying to keep him behind bars.

Unfortunately for Boosie, the appeal was upheld and the rapper was issued a modified bond on June 23. While that did not prevent him from leaving jail, it did set him back double what he was due to pay just three days prior.

Boosie Released On $100K Bond

Per TMZ, Boosie’s new bail was set at $100K. The new bail is double the original amount. Increased bond amounts typically relate to a higher risk that an individual poses to the wider community.

Despite this, Bossie claims that the prosecution “showed no evidence of me being a flight risk or a danger to the community.” This appears to reinforce the rapper’s notion that for some reason, the prosecution were eager to keep him behind bars.

While he is out of jail, the gun charges still remain. It’s unknown when Boosie will have to return to court on the charges. However, his attorney claims that her client is innocent and looks forward to seeing the federal charges thrown out. Boosie was initially arrested for the federal charges on the same day that state charges against him were dismissed.

YNW Melly Murder Trial Gets Another Twist

Before finding himself in jail, Boosie had been helping the defense team representing rapper YNW Melly. Melly is facing a double murder charge and has had a very memorable trial so far.

However, the latest twist came not from the rapper, but from the prosecution. They allege that Melly had texted his mother, asking her to buy him a firearm. “Get a Glock ASAP…Like go now” YNW urged her. “Ok, what’s wrong? I got your .45,” she wrote back. “I just don’t want no illegal gun. Well dats not illegal,” the recording artist responded. He also added that he wanted a “Glock 40 or 19” in subsequent texts.

While the trial is ongoing, many believe that it is heading south for the rapper. He could face up to life in prison for the charges if found guilty. However, that is a developing story and any updates will be found here on HotNewHipHop.
