Fans were shocked to see Althoff interviewing the NBA legend. “SHAQ?!! She can’t keep getting away with this,” one user commented on the post. Another wrote: “She moving way too FAST!! She tryna take advantage before they get bored of her.” One fan further theorized that Althoff’s dry humor won’t affect Shaq: “She can try that same ‘make you feel awkward’ routine with him I can tell you it ain’t gonna work on big shaq tho.” Another user complained that an interview with Offset has yet to be released: “Is this one going to come out like the offset one came out? Where is the offset interview???”

Shaq is far from the first high-profile celebrity that Althoff has secured an interview with. In previous months, she’s spoken with Drake as well as Lil Yachty, and more. Fans have constantly theorized how she’s been able to secure such a star-studded lineup. Following her interview with Drake, Dave Portnoy amplified a rumor about her sleeping with the Toronto rapper and getting divorced. She later shared DMs between the two on Instagram and added: “I did not want to do this podcast in the first place, and now so much negativity is coming from it. I’m going to leave it alone after this but this is the uncensored dm between Dave and I.”

“I walked into his house and it was super awkward because he’s really like kind of awkward. And, I’ve heard that going into it, but me with another awkward person is like– I think it’s because you guys aren’t awkward, maybe that’s why. Because he was awkward,” Althoff began. “I walked into his house. He didn’t even like say hi to me. So, then I was like, ‘let’s go to the bathroom.’ So, then we go to the bathroom and then, we like get out and he’s just sitting there with his two assistants and he’s not even acknowledging that I’m in the room. My camera guy is setting up and I’m just sitting there on my phone. And then he comes up and is like ‘oh, hi,’ and gives me a half-hug and I’m just like, ‘hi,’ then he goes back to sit.”

What am I doing here?” From there, her friend recommended she lean into the awkwardness during the interview, which Bobbi did. “So, it actually worked out,” she concluded. Yachty isn’t the only high-profile rapper Althoff has interviewed in recent weeks. She also spoke with Drake for an interview in which they discussed his love life, Tyga’s music, and more. Althoff and Drake have since stopped following each other on social media, although it’s unclear why.

That person was, of course, Bobbi Althoff. Many are calling her some sort of industry plant. Although, that would be fairly dismissive of everything she has done. A quick fact check will show that this is, indeed, true. They definitely do not follow one another on Instagram. Additionally, on YouTube, the only trace of the Drake interview on Bobbi’s channel are some “Shorts” that were released prior to the entire interview going live. Needless to say, something very fishy is going on here. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the internet has found any clarity on the situation.
This could definitely be a real feud brewing between the two or it could just be a random falling out. Drake has had an unfollow spree with other women in the past. Ice Spice being a prime example. In the beginning of the video, Will Freeark leaves a duffle bag filled to the brim with $5K outside of the hotel they’re shooting at. He includes a note on the bag, asking “Can I trust you?” and advising it’s finder to return it to the hotel. Luckily for him, Althoff was right around the corner. When she returns the bag, they invite her to be a part of the video, and she reluctantly agrees. She even makes a cameo in the music video, mouthing a few lines of “Jealousy” and playing the role of a bandit.

In June, Althoff interviewed Funny Marco. Apparently, Drake was a fan of what he saw, liking clips of the interview and eventually following Althoff on Instagram. After discovering that Drake was into her content, she decided to take a chance and ask him if he wanted to be interviewed. “I decided to just go for it and shoot my shot. I DMed Drake and asked if he wanted to be on my podcast, and he said yes,” she explained. “He sent me his touring schedule, and I knew that I needed to make it happen fast, so my friend and I flew to Memphis two days after the original DM was sent to record the episode.”
Elsewhere in her Cosmopolitan interview, Althoff revealed how she prepares to sit down with all these celebs. “There’s no prep,” she explained, “and that’s the fun of it.” She continued, “I think that’s why celebrities are down to do it. They know it’s a character, and we just wing it. It’s not a real interview. I’m not trying to get hard-hitting information about you — I’m not trying to uncover anything. It’s just a conversation. It’s really a parody of a good interview.”

In her caption, Althoff is referencing the aforementioned Drake interview and a viral clip that stemmed from it. “What’s your favorite Tyga song?” Drake asked in the interview. “Is he married to Kylie Jenner? Is that the guy that dated [her]?” Bobbi asked in response, to which Drake answers, “Yeah, maybe before the iPhone or something. Elliott Wilson called out Drake on Twitter in a since-deleted post in which he complained about the Toronto rapper only doing interviews outside of hip-hop culture. The post comes after Drake sat down with TikTok star Bobbi Althoff for her The Really Good Podcast.
“Moment of clarity: No disrespect to Lil Boat. Yachty’s convo with The Boy was comfy and had some cool moments. I was more so clowning the comedy shenanigans with outsiders to our culture. It would be great to hear Drake speak to us again. Even if it ain’t me,” Wilson said.
Fans agreed with Wilson when No Jumper shared the tweet on Instagram. One wrote: “What I’m saying this n***a has never been on sway, the breakfast club or hot 97. He be doing all these clown ass interviews.” Another added: “Wtf do Drake look like going to these low quality ass radio shows in 2023 just to get trolled n talk about drama? Maybe if the culture wasn’t plagued wit toxicity dudes would wanna do shows like that.”
While the full interview isn’t out, Bobbi Althoff has been sharing clips from the piece on TikTok. In one recent clip, Drake shows the comedian a snippet of Tyga’s song, “Rack City.” In another, Althoff asks Drake to pay for her flight home, to which Drake assumed she was referencing one of his songs. “Can it be nonstop?” Althoff asked him. He responded by bringing up his Scorpion track “Nonstop.”
