PnB Rock Turns 32: Remembering Why He Was Able To Bring Great Vibes On Tracks Like “Lovin’”

The 2017 XXL Freshman Class is one of the best in recent memory. Sadly, we have tragically lost two of some of the very best along the way. XXXTENTACION and PnB Rock. Today, we celebrate what would have been the Philadelphia native’s 32nd birthday. Born Rakim Hasheem Allen on December 9, 1991, he was always able to provide listeners with great vibing music.

He was known by many for his hit song “Selfish” from his debut tape, GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions. But, he was much more than that. The R&B singer was a father to two beautiful daughters, Milan and Xuri Lee. Unfortunately, they will have to carry on without him after he was fatally shot during an armed robbery back in September 2022.

Easily, though, the biggest highlight from it has to be “fukumean.”

It quickly became one of the catchiest songs of the year and might have been the track of the summer as well. What makes the track so accessible is the solid trap beat with Gunna’s slippery flows. Additionally, you have to throw in some of the quotables like the earworm “eeeyah” adlibs and kid vocals shouting in the background. Finally, you cannot forget the line, “I’m in this b**** with P Litty / QP, QP-ski.” If you did not know the one who performs “eeeyah” is Gunna’s new girfriend.

It was the song that put him on the map. Especially, with Lyrical Lemonade assisting in the production of the music video, it was a surefire mega song. It turned out to be just that, with over 942 million views on YouTube, 2.3 plus billion streams on Spotify, and going Diamond in February of 2022. More recently, the on-again-off-again couple decided to have another baby via surrogate. That experience was going to be a healing one for the reality star. However, the hurt struck her again after Thompson got another woman, Maralee Nichols, pregnant.

The Canadian initially tried to deny his role in the situation. After taking a paternity test he had no choice but to accept responsibility for, once again, breaking Kardashian’s heart. Their son, Tatum, spends a reasonable amount of time with the busy baller from what we’ve been, but Nichols’ baby boy, Theo, didn’t get so much as a birthday shoutout from Thompson when he turned two on Friday (December 1).

It appeared as though the issues that had led them to finish 5-12 last season were persisting. Cam’ron even went as far as to suggest that Wilson should ditch Ciara to refocus on football.
