Charlamagne Tha God Claims Yung Miami’s “Caresha Please” Didn’t Deserve BET Hip Hop Award

The 2023 BET Hip Hops Awards aired last night, and fans watched countless artists take home wins for their contributions to the genre. City Girls also took the stage to perform a couple of their tracks, “No Bars” and “Face Down.” The duo appeared to be shining bright as ever, just ahead of the announcement of their new album, R.A.W. According to them, the project is scheduled to drop sometime this month, but fans have yet to hear a specific release date.

The new album isn’t the only thing Yung Miami has to be excited about, however. She also took home Best Hip Hop Platform at the awards show, passing nominees like Drink Champs, The Joe Budden Podcast, and more. Caresha Please won the award last year too, which managed to ruffle some feathers. N.O.R.E. even shared his thoughts on her win publicly, making it clear that he wasn’t pleased. “So nobody gonna say nothing bout the podcast /media award?” he wrote. “Ok me neither!!!” It appears as though N.O.R.E. isn’t the only fellow nominee that wasn’t thrilled about Yung Miami’s win either.

Charlamagne Tha God On Caresha Please Winning Best Hip Hop Platform

Charlamagne Tha God recently shared his take on the situation, suggesting that someone besides Yung Miami was behind her win. “We gotta stop,” he said as his co-host read the winner out loud. “I love Caresha, I love Yung Miami to death, but come on now. Two years in a row? Like, I got mad love for Caresha but you’ve got platforms that come out daily, and you’ve got platforms that come out weekly.” He continued, suggesting that Diddy pulled some strings to allow for her to win.

“I love Caresha Please, but was that sponsored by Deleon?” he added. It seems as though Yung Miami is sick of that kind of speculation, taking to The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section to air her frustrations. “YALL LEAVE ME TF ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!” she wrote. What do you think of Charlamagne Tha God’s take? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

BET Hip Hop Awards Showcase UK Talents With New Cypher

Last night the BET Hip Hop Awards aired showcasing all kinds of rap talent new and old. Like many other award shows and festivals this year they celebrated the 50th anniversary of rap music as a genre. The show featured a number of awards and some show-stopping performances. Among the performers were some of the biggest stars in modern-day rap playing their newest tracks and some incredible posse cuts where rappers new and old paid tribute to legends of the genre.

On top of all of that, it included some of the BET’s annual Cyphers. Many legendary rappers have made some of their earliest and occasionally most impressive appearances in BET cyphers of the past, so expectations were high. For one particularly impressive cypher this year, they focused entirely on UK rappers. Ghetts, DJ Kenny Allstar, Jordy, Deyah, Shakes, Proph, and Villz all teamed up to highlight the UK’s unique and fresh take on the genre. Check out all of their performances below.

The night was full of highlight performances. They weren’t the only high-profile female rappers to take the stage either. In one of the night’s most memorable moments, Sexyy Red recapped her breakout 2023 by playing a series of her biggest hits.

Plenty of other stars took the stage as well. GloRilla and Fivio Foreign teamed up to perform their new single “Cha Cha Cha.” The track appears on the newest CMG label compilation Gangsta Art 2. Dababy, Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Ludacris, LL Cool J, Rakim, and more also took the stage throughout the night. Who do you think had the best performance in the new BET UK Cypher? Rakim & LL Cool J Honor Marley Marl At BET Hip Hop Awards

The BET Hip Hop Awards witnessed an unforgettable moment as hip-hop legends Rakim and LL Cool J paid tribute to the influential Marley Marl through their timeless performances. LL Cool J performed “Jinglin Baby,” “Mr Good Bar,” “Around the Way Girl” & “Mama Said Knock You Out.” Then, Rakim joined the stage to perform “Eric B for President” and “Paid In Full.” This monumental event served as a reminder of hip-hop’s rich history and enduring impact. Marley Marl, known for his groundbreaking production work in the 1980s, played a pivotal role in shaping the hip-hop landscape. He’s renowned for pioneering the use of sampling and was instrumental in the rise of some of rap’s most iconic artists.

Rakim, often cited as one of the greatest lyricists in hip-hop, took to the stage to honor Marley Marl. He delivered a dope performance of “Paid In Full,” a classic track that is not only a reminder to Rakim’s lyrical abilities but also a reflection of Marley Marl’s exceptional production skills. The audience was treated to Rakim’s flow and lyrical mastery, reminiscent of the golden era of hip-hop. This performance also coincided with the 50th year anniversary of hip-hop.

Rakim And LL Cool J Pay Tribute

Fans thoroughly appeared to enjoy watching the performance. People in the comment section mentioned how much they loved the tribute and how it reminded them of their love for hip-hop. “Back when the art form had soul and flavor. What a treat watching Mr. LL perform “Mr. Good Bar.” “1990’s ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ is one of the reasons why I cannot turn Hip-Hop loose,” one person commented. “Two of the cornerstones of hip hop. Rappers around the world owe LL, Rakim and Mr. Marley Marl a gratitude of thanks,” another person said. While many acknowledged the lively performance, others couldn’t help but notice what appeared to be a dull crowd. “The fact that everybody ain’t on their feet during Rakim’s performance is a disgrace to the culture, this man is a legend,” one person said. “There would be no Jay, Nas or Biggie without him.”

“The audience didn’t deserve this performance! Everyone shoulda been standing up! I’m disappointed in them. This was a top tier performance! Others should take notes. THISSSSS is how it’s done!!! I woulda lost my damn mind if I was there. Salute to hip hop! The real hip hop!!” another said. Moreover, the BET Hip Hop Awards provided a platform to honor Marley Marl, a producer who left a mark on hip-hop’s evolution. This tribute not only celebrated Marley Marl’s contributions to hip-hop but also highlighted the importance of acknowledging the pioneers who shaped the genre. What’d you think of the performance? City Girls Serve Up A Medley Of New Songs At BET Hip Hop Awards

The BET Hip Hop Awards were broadcast overnight and they featured performances from some of the biggest names in hip hop. DaBaby, Sexyy Redd, Fivio Foreign, and GloRilla all took the stage to play some of their new songs. There were also tributes to Jermain Dupri’s So So Def Recordings and Marley Marl who was receiving the I Am Hip Hop award. There was also a performance from JT and Yung Miami, AKA City Girls.

The pair played two songs. First JT stepped up to play her debut solo single “No Bars.” The track dropped earlier this year and was followed by an announcement in an interview that she was planning on making an entire solo album eventually. After that, the duo played their newest single “Face Down.” The sexually charged banger dropped back in artists and has racked up nearly 3 million Spotify streams since. Check out the full video of the hard-hitting performance below.

City Girls Take The BET Hip Hop Awards Stage

Earlier today, City Girls made an announcement that had their fans buzzing. They’ve been teasing a new album for a while but now it’s got an official name. The project is called R.A.W, which fittingly stands for “Real A*s Wh*res.” They didn’t give an official release date for the project but fans won’t have to wait too long as they promised that it was coming this month. They’ve released 4 new singles this year in the lead up to the project, most notable “Act Bad” with Fabolous and Diddy.

Despite being busy recording their new album the City Girls are still getting up to some fun. The pair attended a show on Beyonce’s Renaissance tour last month. While there they shared clips of themselves seemingly having the time of their lives during the concert. Despite some fans online taking issue with their outfit choices, most loved the videos. What do you think of JT and Yung Miami’s performance at the BET Hip Hop Awards? Let us know in the comment section below.

Lil Uzi Vert Wins Big As “Just Wanna Rock” Gets Song Of The Year At the BET Hip-Hop Awards

Lil Uzi Vert has been one of the biggest artists so far in 2023. Overall, a lot of this has to do with the fact that they came out with their first album since 2020. The Pink Tape proved to be a polarizing release. However, Uzi was trying new things on the album, which led to quite a bit of praise from longtime fans. From the Philly club anthems to the metalcore crossovers, there was a lot for fans to get excited about. However, there was one song that certainly stood above the others.

Of course, we are talking about “Just Wanna Rock.” This song had been released months before the album and was a bit of a slow burn at first. Some people didn’t like the new direction. Overall, it was much different from what Uzi was dropping in the past. However, fans eventually came around to it, and now, it is a song that goes off at clubs, sporting events, and yes, even weddings. As for its critical reception, it continues to build up some accolades.
