Kevin Porter Jr Reaches Plea Deal In Girlfriend Assault Case

Kevin Porter Jr has reached a plea agreement with a New York court in regard to assault allegations filed last year. Porter Jr will plead guilty to misdemeanor assault and a harassment violation. However, he will be allowed to withdraw his plea if he completes a 26-week partner intervention program. This will essentially clear Porter Jr’s record if he completes this condition. “The resolution will allow Mr. Porter to put this incident, which involved false felony allegations and false facts, behind him with no criminal record and move forward,” Porter Jr’s attorneys said.

Porter Jr has long denied any allegations made against him. This was corroborated by his girlfriend and alleged victim Kyrze Gondrezick. The former WNBA player denied that Porter Jr had assaulted her and accused a New York DA of “manipulating” her. “It has been deeply frustrating and disturbing by the manipulation of what was stated by the prosecution. To be criminalized, harassed, and misrepresented at the expense of charging someone else is dishonoring and insulting to my integrity,” Grondrezick wrote in an open letter.

Kevin Porter Jr NBA Future Unclear

With Porter Jr all-but exonerated, his future in the NBA remains unclear. At the time of the allegations, Porter Jr was contracted to the Houston Rockets. However, soon after the allegations became public, Porter Jr was traded to the Thunder, who then waived him. At the time of his exit from the league. Porter Jr was averaging 15.3 points and 5 assists a game. However, as ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news, many fans expressed hope that Porter Jr would not return to the league.

Porter Jr was a late first-round pick in 2019 and began his career in Milwaukee. Traded on draft night, Porter Jr played a season in Cleveland before starting his sophomore year on the inactive list due to a weapons charge. While it was later dropped, a negative locker atmosphere over the acquisition of Taurean Prince led the Cavs to trade Porter Jr to Houston. Porter Jr has not released a statement about his plea deal, or his future basketball plans.

Von Miller Denies Assault On Pregnant Girlfriend

Von Miller has made his first public statement after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend in suburban Dallas. “Obviously, there are things that I can’t talk about but everything that was out is completely wrong and blown out of proportion. Me and my girlfriend, we have problems just like any other couple does. But there has never been any of those things that was alleged against me. Hopefully over time, all of this stuff will get cleared up. Sometimes life just … be life-ing. You’ve just got to keep pushing and keep moving. The people who know me and the people who have been around me know my character, they know who I am,” Miller told reporters.

Furthermore, he said all reported details of the incident were wrong. “All of it is incorrect. The only thing that is true is we do have a third son on the way. Everything else is untrue. Me and my relationship with my girlfriend is the same. We’ve got three kids, and everything is normal in that respect. And everything was blown out of proportion that day. It was just a crazy day, whatever happened, I hate it happened, I hate my name is attached to anything like that and it’s just a matter of time until I can clear it up,” Miller continued.

What Is Von Miller Accused Of?

Miller surrendered to police in late November after a warrant for his arrest was issued. Per TMZ, Miller was booked and released on bond soon after. According to ESPN, Miller’s bond was set at $5000. He had been wanted by police in Texas since late morning Wednesday. The warrat came after they responded to a “major disturbance call” concerning Miller and his pregnant partner. According to an affidavit, an argument about Miller’s partner’s travel plans had allegedly turned violent. Miller allegedly shoved her, pulled her hair, and placed his hands around her neck on two separate occasions.

Miller was previously investigated on similar accusations in Colorado in 2021. However, that inquiry did not lead to any sort of formal police intervention. However, the report of his assault by his alleged victim paints a disturbing picture. According to the alleged victim, Miller had demanded that she leave their shared apartment as a result of their argument. However, she claims that as she tried to collect her things, Miller repeatedly assaulted her and smashed her laptop. Miller, who signed a six-year deal with the Buffalo in 2022, continues to play limited snap counts as he rehabs from an ACL tear.

Justyn Ross Allegedly Assaulted Girlfriend And Knifed Her Car Over Cheating Rumors

Court documents have shone more light on why Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was arrested last week. The affidavit states that after Ross reportedly learned of his partner’s infidelity, he allegedly pushed her to the ground and began throwing household objects at her. Furthermore, a number of witnesses claimed they saw Ross “run a small knife” across the exterior of the woman’s Mercedes. However, the document also states that Ross denied the claims. According to him, he only threw her belongings out of the house and did break a laptop, but claimed that it was his property.

Ross was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list on October 27, four days after his arrest and not-guilty plea. Ross had been played sparingly across the start of the 2023 season, appearing in three games for the Chiefs and racking up just 34 yards. He was an undrafted free agent signed in 2022. However, he missed his entire rookie season due to an offseason foot injury. At the trade deadline (October 31), the Chiefs traded for Jets receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. to add some depth at the position.

Jonathan Majors’ career rose to newfound heights in 2023. Unfortunately for the Creed III star, it also reached new lows, which he’s still seeking to recover from. Shortly after the premiere of his two major film projects this year, the California native was arrested on assault charges. There’s been much confusion regarding what went down between him and then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in the back of a New York taxi cab, but a newly released 115-page filing gives insight into the troubling domestic dispute.

As Uproxx reports, Majors’ arrest was on March 25. That same day, he and Jabbari were on their way from a party in Brooklyn to their home in Chelsea when a text on the 34-year-old’s phone caught his partner’s eye. It allegedly read, “Wish I was kissing you right now,” garnering an obviously upset reaction. When Jabbari grabbed her man’s phone, he responded by “grabbing the right side of Ms. Jabbari’s body and prying Ms. Jabbari’s right middle finger off the phone, causing bruising, swelling, and substantial pain.” Afterward, Jonathan was allegedly “grabbing Ms. Jabbari’s arm and right hand and proceeding to twist Ms. Jabbari’s forearm, causing substantial pain to her finger and arm.”

Kevin Porter Jr. was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder this week amid claims that he brutally assaulted his girlfriend last month. The Rockets sent Porter Jr. to the Thunder along with two second-round picks, acquiring Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl in return. However, sources within the Thunder told ESPN that they planned to immediately waive Porter Jr.

Meanwhile, there were some significant developments in his assault case. Prosecutors dropped one of the assault charges against Porter Jr., acknowledging that he did not fracture his girlfriend’s next in the alleged incident. Furthermore, Kysre Gondrezick, Porter Jr.’s girlfriend, alleges that Porter Jr. “didn’t hit me”. “He never balled his fists up and hit me. And he definitely didn’t punch me in the face numerous times. That is a lie. I don’t have any injuries to support that,” Gondrezick, who played one season in the WNBA in 2021, told The New York Post. Porter Jr. is still facing a second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault charge.

Kevin Porter Jr. Assault Case: What We Know

Kevin Porter Jr.’s legal woes stem from an alleged assault at a New York hotel last month. Porter Jr. is accused of assaulting his girlfriend so severely that she required a brief hospitalization. Porter Jr. reportedly strangled and beat Gondrezick, leaving her with muscular tearing in her throat and a fractured vertebra in her neck. He denied all charges and pleaded not guilty when charged in a New York court.

This week, prosecutors dropped the charge relating to the neck fracture. Documents submitted by Porter Jr.’s attorneys showed that the fracture was actually a congenital issue suffered by Gondrezick. Furthermore, Gondrezick’s testimony that Porter Jr. never hit further complicates the case. “It happened very fast, not to the degree of what was reported. And it was an argument that occurred in the room for not even 10 seconds,” she claimed. However, the former WNBA player has not denied the strangulation claims. Despite this, Gondrezick also told The Post that prosecutors did not interview her before releasing the details of her injuries to the public.
