Last week, Diddy’s homes were raided by the Department of Homeland Security in a reported sex trafficking investigation stemming from a series of lawsuits against the rapper. As Diddy’s legal troubles mount, his A-list friends are now being placed under the microscope. Ashton Kutcher is reportedly expected to be subpoenaed in the investigation, which has unearthed some comments he’s made over the years about his well-documented friendship with Diddy.
During a 2019 appearance on Hot Ones, host Sean Evans asked Kutcher for some details about “Diddy parties,” which had become a favorite topic on the web series. (The question was also spurred by an Instagram photo of Kutcher partying with Diddy.) While Kutcher’s answer seemed innocuous at the time, it reads differently in light of the allegations against Diddy.
“I’ve got a lot I can’t tell,” Kutcher told Evans while pausing to think of another anecdote, only to quip, “I can’t tell that one either.”
According to The Daily Beast, the two have been close since their early days on MTV:
Combs’ Making the Band was another huge property at MTV at the time and helped foster their friendship, Kutcher and Combs told James Corden in a 2018 joint interview.
“I gave [Kutcher] a call one day and said, ‘I heard that you are going to punk me, and I just don’t think that’s a good idea,’” Combs told Corden, when the host asked how the two met.
“I think it was some version of, ‘If you do that, that will not end well for you, but I think we should work out a deal,’” Kutcher amended.
Kutcher being pulled into the Diddy scandal is also raising eyebrows after his best friend and That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson was convicted of rape. Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis wrote letters to the judge asking for leniency that they did not expect to go public. Once the letters were published, Kutcher resigned from the board of the anti-child sex abuse organization he founded with ex-wife Demi Moore.

I’m not the judge, I’m not the jury, I’m not the DA, I’m not the victim. And I’m not the accused. And so, in that case, I don’t have a space to comment. I just don’t know.”

Now Kutcher once again finds himself in trouble. He and wife Mila Kunis wrote letters to the judge of Masterson’s case in support of him before his sentencing hearing. In their letters, they called him a “role model” and praised his “exceptional character.” As you’d expect, fans didn’t take particularly kindly to the pair using those descriptors for a convicted rapist. Regardless, they doubled down on the letters in follow-up public statements.
Now according to TMZ, both Kutcher and Kunis are stepping down from their roles in an anti-child sex abuse organization called Thorn. The part that stings even more for Kutcher is that he co-founded the organization alongside Demi Moore back in 2012. Hollywood power couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have spoken out after major backlash over letters they wrote in support of their former co-star, and convicted rapist, Danny Masterson. “We support victims, we have done this historically,” Kunis said in a video released by the couple. This is a reference to the work the couple has done in regard to sex trafficking. Furthermore, Kutcher added that they had written the letters on behalf of Masterson’s family. They did this so that they could speak to “the character of the person we knew for 25 years.”
After their video apology was released, one of Masterson’s victims produced a response through journalist Yashar Ali. ‘This video was incredibly insulting and hurtful. My hope is that they learn radical accountability and the importance of self-education to learn when to keep their privilege in check—especially Ashton, who claims to work with victims of sex crimes. And as to Mila, I can only think of “Times Up”,” “Jen B.” said in her statement.
However, the letters of support have been scrutinized even further in the wake of a new scandal involving Kutcher. A 2003 clip from Punk’d, the MTV prank show Kutcher hosted between 2003 and 2007, shows Kutcher making lewd comments about an underage Hilary Duff. “Hilary Duff is in Lizzie McGuire, she also has an album out. She’s going to be in a movie called Cheaper by the Dozen. And she’s one of the girls that we’re all waiting for to turn 18. Along with the Olsen twins,” Kutcher said while introducing Duff. At the time of the clip, Duff was 15.
At Masterson’s sentencing, Judge Olmedo raised the fact that Masterson had paid his victims $1 million each to sign an NDA. The judge stated that “is an awful lot of money for an incident you say didn’t happen.” Furthermore, Olmedo declined the defense’s request for Masterson to serve his 15-year sentences concurrently as opposed to consecutively. Meanwhile, one of the victims spoke on how Scientology had served as Masterson’s “enabler and protector”. However, she also said that she forgave Masterson for what he did. Additionally, she stated that she hoped he found peace in prison.

Azalea was torn to shreds online after it was revealed she had written a passionate letter of support for Tory Lanez when he was facing sentencing for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
Speaking to Masterson during sentencing, Judge Olmedo showed no sympathy for the now-convicted rapist. “Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here. Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s choice and voice. Your actions 20 years ago today were criminal, and that’s why you are here. You were not convicted based on rumors, innuendo, gossip and speculation.”
Additionally, Judge Olmedo raised the fact that Masterson had paid his victims $1 million each to sign an NDA. The judge stated that “is an awful lot of money for an incident you say didn’t happen.” Furthermore, Olmedo declined the defense’s request for Masterson to serve his 15-year sentences concurrently as opposed to consecutively. Meanwhile, one of the victims spoke on how Scientology had served as Masterson’s “enabler and protector”. However, she also said that she forgave Masterson for what he did and stated that she hoped he found peace in prison.

The reality star jumped in the comments as he relived the moment with fans. “Context. I was 19yo and set up with a back rub,” Omarion remembers. “First they got me comfy & then [c]onfusion & anxiety [sad face emoji].” One user comments that although the teen was clearly scared, “he was so respectful… my boy was raised right!!!!” He also apologizes to his mom in the reply, whose grave he swore on during the prank. For those who don’t know, Omarion’s mother is still alive and well. The singer laughs it off, writing “Not sure why I put that on my mommy. Sorry momma.”

Watching his longtime friend and colleague embattle sexual assault accusation hasn’t been easy for Ashton Kutcher. However, there is a select group who don’t sympathize with Danny Masterson as he faces several allegations of rape. The accusations surfaced in 2017 when Kutcher and Masterson were starring in The Ranch. The That 70’s Show stars reunited for the Netflix series, but the allegations caused the production to part ways with Masterson.
In a cover feature for Esquire, Kutcher told the outlet that he wants his friend “to be found innocent of the charges brought against him.”
It was clarified that this didn’t mean Kutcher was keen on Masterson getting away with a crime he may have committed.
“Ultimately, I can’t know. I’m not the judge.” The actor added, “I’m not the jury, I’m not the DA, I’m not the victim. And I’m not the accused. And so, in that case, I don’t have a space to comment. I just don’t know.”

Kutcher does, however, feel for Masterson’s child.
“Someday, his kid is going to read about this,” he added. “I wholesale feel for anybody who feels like they were violated in any way.”
The actor founded Thorn alongside Demi Moore—a non-profit centering on helping victims of sex trafficking and abuse. Some have pushed back on Kutcher’s remarks about Masterson, while others understand his position.
Last year, Masterson’s trial was determined to be a mistrial after jurors disagreed on the outcome of multiple charges.
