Alicia Keys Guides Lil Durk Through A ‘Therapy Session’ Before He Revisits His Pain In ‘Pelle Coat’

Lil Durk is gearing up to release Almost Healed. The album’s spoken-word opener, “Therapy Session” featuring Alicia Keys, establishes from jump that the title isn’t empty. The Chicago rapper is inviting fans into the depths of his ongoing healing process.

Lil Durk released the video for “Therapy Session/Pelle Coat” on Thursday, May 25 — combining the album’s first and second tracks visually. The Steve Cannon-directed cinematic experience begins with Keys’ omnipresence. She and Durk aren’t physically in the same space, but he’s listening intently to her as she acts as his therapist.

Keys asks Lil Durk about his state of mind when he “heard the news about your friend, Von, passing away on November 6, 2020, and then the loss of your brother on June 6, 2021.” She validates how devastated Lil Durk must have felt before encouraging him “to feel completely safe in this room” and “express your vulnerabilities.”

“Today is May 26,” Keys says. “Remember that you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here to listen. You have the voice in this room. I wanna hear from Durk Banks.”

Abruptly, we see Lil Durk startled in his car at night. Was that scene all a dream? A repetitive rumination cycle in his mind as a byproduct of buried trauma? A tear falls from his eye as the video transitions into “Pelle Coat,” and the rest of the video follows Lill Durk retracing the past.

“Therapy Session” and “Pelle Coat” following Lil Durk’s previously released Almost Healed single “All My Life” featuring J. Cole. He’ll take it all out on the road for his Sorry For The Drought Tour later this year, beginning on July 28 in Tampa, Florida.

Alicia Keys Soaks Up The Sun In A Colourful Bikini During Mexico Trip With Swizz Beatz

Even at age 42, Alicia Keys is still a “Girl On Fire” in our books. The R&B vocalist has had a busy month touring through Latin America, hitting up cities like Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Bogota before closing out in Mexico this weekend. Her final performance took place on Friday (May 19) in Guadalajara, but before she hit the stage, Keys made sure to enjoy the beautiful country with her family. Paparazzi cameras caught her soaking up the sun on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas earlier this week, at which time she wore a bright, groovy-printed bathing suit that perfectly hugs her curves and shows off her abs.

As Page Six notes, after jumping off the massive boat, Keys showed off her adventurous side while kayaking through the blue water. Her sons, 12-year-old Egypt and 8-year-old Genesis were also in tow, along with her husband Swizz Beatz. Though she didn’t share any photos from her day in the water on Instagram the app has seen plenty of other looks from the New Yorker as of late, many of which are just as funky as her swimsuit.

Alicia Keys Relaxes on a Yacht During Tour

“Chile, you are beautiful beyond words!!! I cannot BELIEVE the love I felt from you!!!” Keys captioned a photo dump of her and the producer exploring the Latin country together during a stunning sunset. Elsewhere, the “Fallin’” songstress shared a video of her popping open a bottle of bubbly while cruising through the sky in a hot air balloon.

Ahead of her final performance last night, her feed lit up yet again with a message for patrons attending the show. “Guadalajara, let’s show them how to close out a tour 🔥🔥🔥. See you TONIGHT!” the mother of two wrote.

Alicia Keys Recruits Female Musicians In A Classical Rework Of “If I Ain’t Got You”

During the longevity of her career, Alicia Keys has highlighted the talents of upcoming musicians. This time, she has reached into her two-decade-long career to ask for assistance from an additional group of musicians. Alicia Keys called upon a group of women of color to assist her in reworking an orchestra version of her song “If I Ain’t Got You.” Additionally, the group entails 70 women of color.“If I Ain’t Got You (Orchestra Version)” was created for the soundtrack to the Netflix series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

In an interview with Billboard Alicia detailed the process of forming the group. “The entire idea was quite ambitious,” she said. The group of women came from numerous parts of the world including Egypt, Bardos, South Africa, and Sweden. During the performance, each of them was dressed in Victorian-styled fashion. Additionally, the Netflix series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is based on the same timeframe of Victorian wear. Staying true to her stance on women’s empowerment, this performance embodies the same essence. “My mother is definitely a feminist for sure. She raised me, and that desire for equanimity and fairness was really instilled in me, and then I would see how it will come out in my songs,” she says. 

Alicia Key’s Chills-Giving Performance

Moreover, The original version of her song “If I Ain’t Got You” was released in 2004. The song is a single from Alicia’s second album The Diary of Alica Keys. The song peaked at number four on the Billboard Top 100‘s chart during its release and spent 6 weeks on the chart. Alica also won a Grammy for the song. Additionally, the song is six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The reworked version of the song comes 20 years after its release.

Furthermore, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is currently in its first season on Netflix. The soundtrack also includes instrumental covers of songs from Sza and many more. [WATCH] Swizz Beatz Thinks Alicia Keys Doesn’t Like His Recent Gift: ‘It’s Still At The Dealership’

During a recent interview with Angie Martinez, Swizz Beatz revealed he doesn’t think his wife likes the $500,000 limited edition Virgil Abloh-inspired Maybach he purchased her as a gift. The producer added that his legendary siner wife never even picked the car up from the dealership.

“I don’t think she liked the goddam car,” he said, before Martinez pointed out that the singer did not seem like the “flashy” type either, so perhaps he has a point.

While Alicia likes to drive and collects cars, he says the gift is “still at the dealership” most likely due to the reaction social media has had on her gifts in the past. He also thinks that seeing the attention the car has received made her a little standoff-ish.

“I know she was already thinking like ‘are they gonna be on me if I bring the kids to school in this? Are people gonna know how I’m movin’?’ like [I’m sure] she start[ed] thinking like that way with it. She’s [was just] being very polite.”

The new car, which was unveiled at a car show last December, is a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 model and was designed by Abloh before his November 2021 death in partnership with Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s chief design officer.

Alicia Keys Launches Latin America Leg of 'Alicia + Keys' Tour in Brazil

Alicia Keys, a 15-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician, and producer, began the Latin American leg of her eagerly anticipated Alicia + Keys World Tour on Wednesday night with an electrifying performance at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Jeunesse Arena, her first performance there in six years.

The worldwide music superstar opened the evening with a touching rendition of “Nat King Cole (Unlocked),” followed by performances of timeless songs like “Fallin” and “No One,” as well as more contemporary hits like “Girl On Fire,” and other hits. Bahian Luedji Luna was a special guest performer.

Iza, a popular singer in Brazil, made a surprise appearance to perform “Unthinkable” alongside Alicia Keys, who also sang Portuguese-language snippets from “Dona de Mim.” The smash hit “If I Ain’t Got You” and “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” made up the explosive encore that Alicia performed to close off the show.

The Alicia + Keys World Tour will then arrive in Sao Paulo on May 5 and continue on to Argentina, Chile, and Colombia before wrapping up with three nights in Mexico on May 14–17–19 in Monterrey, Mexico City, and Guadalajara. After Latin America, Keys will launch the KEYS TO THE SUMMER TOUR in North America, featuring a brand-new, entirely revamped and revised performance experience and set list.

Alicia Keys Is Not Feeling The Limited Maybach Swizz Got Her

Alicia Keys is known for her activism and for giving a voice to those who often go unheard. She supports numerous charities, including those that fight against AIDS and advocate for change. Despite her sometimes luxurious celebrity lifestyle, Keys is actively involved in over 30 charities. The “No One” singer frequently uses her platform to speak out on various important social and political issues.

In addition to her charitable work, Keys also expresses her views through art and other means. She recently collaborated with Janelle Monaé on the song “Say Her Name,” which sheds light on the horrific killings of black women such as Sandra Bland and Breonna Taylor. The song also features Beyoncé, Tierra Whack, and Chloe Bailey. Keys’ involvement in social issues extends beyond her music and charity work. She recently reached out to Ralph Yarl, a black teen who survived a potentially fatal shooting. Keys not only offered him a free ticket to her tour but also said she wants to meet him.

Keys Isn’t So Sure About Carting The Kids Around In a Maybach

Because she is a very giving and humble person as far as celebs go, Alicia Keys generally isn’t very flashy. Back in March, Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz, gave her a very expensive belated birthday gift. He surprised the singer with a limited edition Virgil Abloh Maybach. The car is very exclusive, with the price tag starting at $500,000. However, according to a new interview with Swizz Beatz, Keys wasn’t so into it. According to him, it is still sitting at the dealership.

“I know she’s already thinking, are they gonna be on me if I bring the kids to school in this?” Swizz said in the interview. It is quite a sight to imagine Alicia Keys of all people dropping the kids off in a Maybach. Teenage shooting victim Ralph Yarl is reportedly recovering and improving each day- and if he didn’t have enough motivation from the hundreds of thousands of well-wishers across the world already, he now has at least one very special event to look forward to this summer as superstar Alicia Keys has reportedly invited the 16-year-old to attend one of her upcoming concerts this summer.

Lee Merritt, the attorney for the Yarl family, told TMZ that Keys’ camp invited Ralph to attend an upcoming summer show in the Kansas City area and meet her. Merritt also said that Roc Nation has also offered any assistance that the family might need.

A GoFundMe for Yarl, which has surpassed $3.4 million in donations, is being managed by social justice activist Shaun King, who is advising the family on how to best manage the money, which will be put in a trust for Yarl as well as help with expenses.

Yarl was shot twice last month when he went to the wrong home on accident. 84-year-old Andrew Lester has been charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action.

Over the weekend, Yarl’s aunt, Dr. Faith Spoonmore, shared an update on his condition via Instagram, calling him a “fighter” and stating that even though he experiences severe headaches, doctors are very optimistic about Yarl’s prognosis.
