Afroman’s entire career is centered around his laid-back personality. However, he isn’t always afraid to get rowdy when the right occasion arises. Neither is his team. In video footage obtained by TMZ, members of Afroman’s team were involved in a huge fight with rapper Young Buck’s entourage. Just as with any other scenario surrounding Afroman’s life (police raid included), he took to social media to address the matter.

In a video posted on his personal page, Afroman implied that the altercation went down all because someone got high. The clip of Young Buck was overlayed with text that read, “Coke cane (cocaine) is a hellava (hell of a) drug.”

Afroman detailed what took place saying, “Went to do a show, the venue told me to be there at 9:20 pm when I got there, I had to wait because somebody was still on the stage. The venue had to close at 11 pm I was waiting with my social media photographer, my bodyguard, and my artist Lil Sodi when Young Bucc entered the room. I am anti-N-Word Young Bucc yells out f*cc all n-words who don’t do drugs. He was behaving hostile and aggressive.”

He went on to describe the incident, writing, “We were on the right side of the VIP section. He entered the room, going to the left side of the VIP section yelling all kind of insults. He changed his direction and walked bacc over 70 feet. He walked over to my social media photographer and, with a bacc hand struck him in the side of his stomach. Then he moved on over to Lil Sodi, calling him n words and telling him to do drugs as he was calling him the N-word. Young Bucc bacc handed Lil Sodi in the stomach. Lil Sodi thought he was really drunk, and he tried to checc him verbally with a shove. Young Bucc would not go away, and he kept advancing. So the altercation occurred.”

Afroman And His Crew Detained At U.S.-Canada Border For Weed

Afroman, an iconic rapper from Palmdale, CA, is in a bit of legal hot water while trying to cross the U.S.-Canadian border. He got cited trying to get back stateside over the St. Lawrence River in upstate New York, carrying over $10k in cash and an insignificant amount of marijuana. The “weed” moniker may be a bit misleading; it was actually a bottle of cannabis pain lotion. After five hours and a $500 fine, U.S. Border Patrol Officers released Afroman. (His DJ had cannabis gummies as well, leading him to a $500 fine of his own.)

Funny enough, the rapper gave all of his weed to hotel housekeepers and fans before making the trip back down. He says he forgot about the lotion and his DJ forgot about the gummies. All in all, Afroman declared the cash and the Border Patrol seized the cannabis products. They didn’t arrest anybody because the amount was so small. TMZ asked the U.S. Customs and Border Protection for a comment, but they did not give a statement due to the Privacy Act of 1974.

Afroman’s History With Hash

The man’s number one song — which recently went certified Platinum — is 2000’s “Because I Got High.” Well-known for being a ganja lover, he obviously dishes out premium weed products to his fans and people helping him with his shows. He also continues to pack theaters and stadiums, recently going past midnight at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse. (Coincidentally, this was the show Afroman was headed to when he got detained at the border.)

This isn’t his first brush with the law and narcotics. Earlier this year, police raided his home for drugs and drug paraphernalia. They didn’t find anything incriminating, but Afroman used the security footage from his house in music videos and on merchandise. Because this was furthering his career, the police got angry and filed a lawsuit against him. Not one to learn a lesson about being careful with drug possession, Afroman will keep living his freewheeling life until the wheels fall off.

Afroman for President: ‘Because I Got High’ Rapper Submits Docs for 2024 Presidential Election

Afroman has launched his bid for President. The “Because I Got High” rapper submitted the presidential documents to the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday, April 18.

According to TMZ, Afroman is running under the campaign “Joseph Afroman Foremand for President.” His early campaign notes highlight the national need for the legalization of marijuana.

While he is filing documents to run for Pres with the feds, officers are filing documents against Afroman.

In August 2022, Afroman revealed his Ohio home was subject to a police raid. In response, the officers who conducted the search are now suing him.

According to TMZ, Afroman is being sued by the Ohio deputies after he used footage from their raid to make money. Officers are suing Afroman for the use of videos and pictures for music videos and merchandise.

In the lawsuit, Afroman was not home during the search, but his wife was, and she sprung into action, capturing as much as video as possible. Afroman’s security cameras also assisted in capturing the officer’s actions.

The officers stated Afroman did not have permission and cited that the rapper is exhibiting an invasion of privacy and misappropriation of their likenesses, leading to reputation damage, emotional distress, and more.

Afroman stated in the raid officers took hundreds of dollars from him.

According to TMZ, Afroman counted the money he got back from Adams County Sheriff after the raid, and about $400 was missing.

Now, Afroman is looking for answers because he thinks the money disappeared during its stay in evidence, and he is now ready to sue.

Afroman’s Ohio home was raised in August as the police were allegedly tipped off to guns and drugs.

The “I Got High” rapper’s home was raided by authorities while he was on tour in Chicago. The police were banging on his door with weapons drawn, according to neighbors who warned Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, about the raid before he returned home.

“While I’m out here working and paying taxes the. Adams county sheriff department is at my house kicc-ing in my door and stealing my money,” said the rapper on his IG post. He continued telling a story about the department saying, “The Adams county sheriff department threaten to arrest me for checc-ing up on the case too frequently,” which was referring to him filing a police report for his insurance company after his home was burglarized while he was on tour.

Afroman said, “I [accepted] the fact that the police department is not necessary here to protect and serve me a blacc man in America so I just took my loss and never called bacc. Now here they are kicc-ing in my door looking for weapons of mass destruction and 100,000,000 pounds of weed lol wow Donald Trump calls these investigations witchhunts.”

Afroman might be known for his classic stoner anthems. However, dope raps aren’t the only thing on his resume. Now he’s added politics, as he sets to blaze a new trail, the campaign trail. While it might seem farfetched, Afroman has set his plan in motion. According to documents obtained by TMZ, he officially turned in the necessary documents to run for our nation’s highest elected position. Afroman didn’t get high and forget to turn in his documents.

Reportedly, he turned in all the necessary documents on April 18, just in time for 4/20. Since filing the paperwork, Afroman’s presidential committee is named, “Joseph Afroman Foreman for President.” Although we all thought he would be running for the green party, Afroman is running as an Independent. The “Because I Got High” rapper announced his presidential run back in December 2022 during a concert in Missouri. While we’re already thinking about the 2024 election, Afroman has dubbed it the “20-20-FRO” election.

While it may be no secret, Afroman’s campaign platform will focus (unsurprisingly) on the national legalization of marijuana. However, it’s still unclear where he stands on international and domestic issues. Since filing the official presidential candidacy paperwork two days shy of 4/20, it’s clear Afroman is more than serious about his election run. The “Colt .45” rapper has his priorities straight and is making an honest attempt to run for president by officially throwing his name in the hat. While some might see him as a one-hit wonder looking to get a few clicks, he’s clearly put the work in.

Although it remains a mystery as to what his overall campaign strategy is. It’s nice to see someone running with a few new ideas on how they can help better the country. Afroman isn’t the first celebrity to take a swing at politics, especially running for the nation’s highest office. However, he is the first to make his bid official for the 2024 election. Questlove Once Got Mistaken For Afroman And Chased Through London

Questlove has dedicated his lengthy and highly-decorated career to uplifting Black people. He’s launched his new publishing imprint Auwa Books. He’s organized the 50th anniversary of hip hop tribute at this year’s Grammy Awards. He’s made public archival footage of the Harlem Cultural Festival for his Oscar Award-winning, documentary Summer Of Soul. He’s spoken out against the erasure of African-American studies in Florida schools. He’s done it all. Yet despite all of his accomplishments, still, to some, all Black people look alike.

After “Because I Got High” musician Afroman was sued by several Ohio police officers because he used footage of their botched raid of his home, Questlove took to Instagram for an epic storytime. Long story short, back in 2003, Questlove got mistaken for Afroman and was chased through London by fans of the musician.

In the post shared to Instagram, Questlove writes, “Man. The one time in my life I got chased in a city unprepared ‘Speed Demon’ video style was when I had a day off in London. I thought I’d hang around the old neighborhood and go record shopping. I had zero clue that ‘Because I Got High’ was a massive hit in Europe.”

When spotted by, as he put it, “[t]hree drunk dudes,” shouting, “Oh sh*t Afroman! ‘because I got high,’” things quickly escalated. Questlove continued, “[It] started with three dudes, and then they got belligerent, and now the site of me speed walking only confirms their drunken notions. Now it’s 4….soon 7. Now, I’m crossing the street, almost getting hit cause I forget the traffic goes the opposite way. Now it’s a mob of 11 yelling and singing ‘Because I Got High.’”

Questlove confesses the experience “[w]as more annoying than dangerous.” Still, he’s “Slightly irked that I know to this day those mofos for the last 20 years have been the life of the party giving their version of spotting a one-hit wonder who refused to show his gratitude when they acknowledged him.”

Ohio Officers Are Reportedly Suing Afroman After He Recorded Them Wrongfully Raiding His Home

Last year, a group of Ohio police officers wrongfully raided rapper Afroman‘s home. Afterward, Afroman decided to take matters into his own hands and use the footage of the raid for one of his music videos. Now, the aforementioned cops have reportedly filed a lawsuit against the “Colt 45” rapper, according to court documents obtained by The Guardian.

In the reported lawsuit, which was evidently filed by police officers Shawn D Cooley, Justin Cooley, Michael D Estep, Shawn D, Grooms, Brian Newland, Lisa Phillips, and Randolph L Walters, Jr, the plaintiffs allege that Afroman used their persona for commercial purposes.

“These music videos clearly portray the images, likenesses, and distinctive appearances (‘personas’), of many of the officers involved in the search, including those of all Plaintiffs,” reads part of the lawsuit.

Another part of the lawsuit called Afroman’s use of the footage “willful, wanton, malicious, and done with conscious or reckless disregard,” claiming that as a result, they’ve been subject to ridicule and death threats.

In addition to using clips from the raid for a music video, Afroman also posted clips and images on TikTok and Instagram.

In one of the since-deleted Instagram posts, Afroman allegedly captioned a photo of Judge Roy Gabbert, saying, “This is the judge that signed the warrant that said kidnapping. His name is Roy Droopy Gabbert. Vote him out before he signs a fictitious warrant then send some over reacting paranoid KKKops to your House jeopardizing the lives of you and your family, Stealing your money and disconnecting your home video security surveillance system…”

At the time of the raid, Gabbert had issued a warrant as part of an investigation into drug possession, trafficking, and kidnapping.

Each plaintiff is reportedly seeking damages of $25,000 per four counts.

Afroman Reacts To Police Suing Him After Raiding His Home

He tried to turn an unfortunate situation into a money maker, but it caused Afroman to be targeted by the authorities once again. In August, police conducted a raid on the hitmaker’s Ohio home. They claimed it was due to probable cause regarding drugs and paraphernalia, in addition to allegations that his residence was a location known for kidnapping and trafficking. Afroman, real name Joseph Foreman, wasn’t home during the raid, but he used the footage from the incident to further his career.

This has irked police to the point that they’ve filed a lawsuit against the musician. Afroman used clips and photos from the raid in his music videos and merchandise. His wife recorded the authorities in their home, and the residence was reportedly covered in security cameras. Bodycam footage from police was also shared, and Afroman made sure he used whatever he had. This includes images of officers’ likenesses, and the department doesn’t believe Afroman has a right to make money this way.

Afroman Responds To Lawsuit

The raid didn’t prove to be fruitful because police didn’t find the narcotics they were looking for. Instead, says Afroman, they seized an unknown amount of money and returned it all aside from $400. However, the sheriff’s office retorted that all of his money was returned, they simply miscounted during the initial investigation. Afroman wasn’t charged with any crimes.

Fox 19 News reported that seven plaintiffs were named in the lawsuit. Court documents say the artist “created dozens of videos and images of Plaintiffs’ personas and posted them on various social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Snap Chat, TicTok and Instagram.” It also reportedly cites seven Instagram posts that have been deleted from the platform. The authorities allege that officers have received death threats, and it has made their jobs more difficult. They accuse Afroman of “willful, wanton, malicious” behavior and “conscious or reckless disregard” of their rights.

Meanwhile, Afroman issued a statement to TMZ about the lawsuit. He seems unmoved. “My house is my property, my video camera films, everything on my property as they begin, stealing my money, disconnecting plus destroying my video camera system, they became my property!” he wrote. “Criminals caught in the act, of vandalizing and stealing money. My video footage is my property. I used it to identify the criminals who broke into my house, and stole my money.
