Megan Thee Stallion Is In Talks To Join Adam Sandler In The Safdie Brothers’ Next Movie
It’s become a bit of a tradition for Josh and Benny Safdie to cast singers and rappers in their movies. In 2017’s Good Time, it was Necro. For 2019’s Uncut Gems, the Weeknd did cocaine in a bathroom with Julia Fox.
The brothers haven’t announced a title for their next film, but we do know it will star Adam Sandler (casual reminder that he deserved an Oscar for Uncut Gems) and, in the rapper-turned-actor role, Megan Thee Stallion.
Deadline reports:
Megan Thee Stallion now in talks to star alongside their Uncut Gems collaborator Adam Sandler, according to multiple sources… Specifics as to the plot, and even the title of the new film remain tightly under wraps, though Sandler recently confirmed its setting in the world of sports memorabilia. The Safdies will direct from their own script and also serve as producers on the pic, which is gearing up for production this summer.
Sandler recently revealed that the movie should begin shooting in the summer. “I love those guys,” he said about working with the Safdies. “I know we’re going to dedicate ourselves into working our asses off and making sure it’s as good as it can be, and I know that takes a lot of time.” As for Megan Thee Stallion, she will make her big-screen debut in A24’s R-rated musical F*cking Identical Twins from Borat director Larry Charles. She will, presumably, not twerk with She-Hulk again.

Adam Sandler Cookie Monster: Man With Same Name As Actor Harrasses Santa Cruz In Costume
Last year saw a significant rise in celebrity doppelgangers, with figures like “Fake Drake” using their resemblance to stars to get ahead. After OVO sent him a cease and desist letter a few months back, Izzy humbly agreed to stop performing as the Canadian artist. Unfortunately for Adam Sandler, a man who bares the same name as him isn’t being so kind about giving up his foolish antics.
For his part, the actor has been busy working on his “insane” 340-page script for his next collaboration with the Safdie brothers following their wild success with Uncut Gems. Elsewhere in the country, the other Adam Sandler has been dressing up in a Sesame Street Cookie Monster costume and harassing locals. According to TMZ, things are so bad that police are issuing a warning about the man wearing blue.
Creepy Cookie Monster
On Wednesday (February 22), the Santa Cruz PD put out an official notice for citizens in the area to beware of Sandler. He has no relation to the Grown Ups actor and is wandering around the beach and wharf while making uncomfortable comments to strangers and acting out erratically. Cops say that no crimes have technically been committed, but they’re remaining vigilant as he has a “history of unpredictable vulgar comments and troublesome behaviour.”
Police have asked patrons of the city to stay away from Sandler should approach or provoke them. If anything inappropriate happens, locals should feel free to contact authorities and report the incident. Their warning also makes it known that the troubled man isn’t an employee of the city – and this isn’t his first time behaving in such a manner.
Adam’s Previous Antics
Over a decade ago, in 2012, Sandler was one of the many costumed figures wandering around New York City. At that time, he opted to play the role of another Sesame Street favourite, Elmo, but instead of spreading laughter and joy, he ranted about hateful topics, including antisemitism, in Times Square. He was arrested at the time, and ultimately plead guilty to disorderly conduct. Let us know what you think about the strange man’s behaviour in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture news.

Adam Sandler Teases “Insane” 340-Page Script For Next Safdie Brothers Collab
Adam Sandler says that his next film with Josh and Benny Safdie is “insane.” Sandler discussed the group’s follow-up to 2017’s Uncut Gems during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“They’ve been writing this movie we’re supposed to do together for a couple years. They just write hundreds and hundreds of pages,” Sandler told the outlet. “I’ll read them and I’ll say, ‘I like the part when this…’ And they’ll be like, ‘Oh, that’s not in it anymore. We did a whole other thing. We’re going to send you a new draft.’ They just don’t stop writing and thinking and coming at every angle they can, and this movie we’re going to do is pretty amazing.”
Sandler further added: “The first draft of the new one was 340 pages! It was insane and it was great.” While Sandler and the Safdie brothers have kept quiet about details regarding the film, Deadline reports that the story is set in the world of high-end card collecting. The untitled project could begin filming as early as Q2 2023.
Sandler previously discussed the project during a discussion with Entertainment Weekly back in April 2022. At the time, he said: “Their work ethic is bananas. They’re always working, always writing, always thinking. I don’t know what I can tell you, but it’s gonna be very exciting. It’s different. But I don’t want them to ever say, ‘What the hell did you tell him that for?’ So I’ll just let them talk [about it].”
He continued: “I love these guys, I love ’em. I mean, they’re incredible filmmakers… Of course, I would die to work with them again, because it’s a brand new feeling. But the funniest thing is when I would say to the Safdies, ‘Your future is so bright,’ they didn’t want to talk about that. They were like, ‘I just like ‘Gems,’ man.’ They just were so deep in it.”

“Murder Mystery 2” Trailer: Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston Take Their Crime-Solving Antics To Paris
We’ve had droves of new music coming out already in 2023 – now it’s time to start getting excited about the year’s upcoming movie releases. While some huge titles like Margot Robbie’s Barbie and Halle Bailey’s The Little Mermaid will be making their debut in theatres, others, like Murder Mystery 2 will be available on Netflix for your streaming pleasure.
On Monday (January 30), the platform unveiled the long-awaited trailer for the 2019 favourite’s sequel. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, the original movie went on to become the year’s most-streamed project, though it earned just a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Murder Mystery found the on-screen couple attempting to revive their marriage’s spark in Europe. The follow-up takes place four years later, as Nick and Audrey Spitz (Sandler and Aniston) are working as full-time detectives with aspirations of launching their own private eye agency.
As PEOPLE notes, a wedding invitation comes their way from Maharaja (played by Adeel Akhtar), who requests their presence on his private island. “Trouble follows the Spitzes again when the groom is kidnapped for ransom soon after the festivities begin — making each glamorous guest, family member and the bride herself a suspect,” a synopsis explains.
Aside from the Uncut Gems lead and the Friends starlet, other MM2 cast members include Jodie Turner-Smith, Mélanie Laurent, Dany Boon, and Mark Strong, among others.
In today’s trailer, it was confirmed that the highly anticipated movie will make its debut on March 31.
If you’re in need of a Netflix recommendation while we wait for the arrival of Murder Mystery 2, we suggest you stream You People. The comedy stars Jonah Hill, Lauren London, Nia Long, Eddie Murphy, and more – it’s a must-watch for anyone in need of a good laugh.
