Cookie Monster Shouts Out SZA, Invites Her Back To “Sesame Street”

SZA has yet more love for her recent Sesame Street appearance, with longtime resident Cookie Monster eagerly inviting the singer to return. “Me loved having you on our Street, @SZA! Let me know which type of cookies are your favorite for next time. 🍪,” Cookie Monster’s official Twitter account wrote. SZA has yet to provide CM with her preferred cookie. However, Sesame Street recently re-earned the ire of several Republican lawmakers. The GOP, which has long hated the publicly funded show, took issue with the show promoting a “stand up to racism” campaign. In the past, Republican lawmakers have gone as far as to try and defund PBS to prevent the continued production of Sesame Street.

Appearing on the long-running PBS has long been a dream of SZA’s. After appearing on the show, she shared an old Instagram Live clip of her asking her fans how to land an appearance on the show. Furthermore, SZA is not the first musician that Cookie Monster has shown love to. Last year, Lizzo appeared on the show and performed a mini-concert on a cookie flute.

Adam Sandler Cookie Monster: Man With Same Name As Actor Harrasses Santa Cruz In Costume

Last year saw a significant rise in celebrity doppelgangers, with figures like “Fake Drake” using their resemblance to stars to get ahead. After OVO sent him a cease and desist letter a few months back, Izzy humbly agreed to stop performing as the Canadian artist. Unfortunately for Adam Sandler, a man who bares the same name as him isn’t being so kind about giving up his foolish antics.

For his part, the actor has been busy working on his “insane” 340-page script for his next collaboration with the Safdie brothers following their wild success with Uncut Gems. Elsewhere in the country, the other Adam Sandler has been dressing up in a Sesame Street Cookie Monster costume and harassing locals. According to TMZ, things are so bad that police are issuing a warning about the man wearing blue.

On Wednesday (February 22), the Santa Cruz PD put out an official notice for citizens in the area to beware of Sandler. He has no relation to the Grown Ups actor and is wandering around the beach and wharf while making uncomfortable comments to strangers and acting out erratically. Cops say that no crimes have technically been committed, but they’re remaining vigilant as he has a “history of unpredictable vulgar comments and troublesome behaviour.”

Police have asked patrons of the city to stay away from Sandler should approach or provoke them. If anything inappropriate happens, locals should feel free to contact authorities and report the incident. Their warning also makes it known that the troubled man isn’t an employee of the city – and this isn’t his first time behaving in such a manner.

Adam’s Previous Antics

Over a decade ago, in 2012, Sandler was one of the many costumed figures wandering around New York City. At that time, he opted to play the role of another Sesame Street favourite, Elmo, but instead of spreading laughter and joy, he ranted about hateful topics, including antisemitism, in Times Square. He was arrested at the time, and ultimately plead guilty to disorderly conduct. Let us know what you think about the strange man’s behaviour in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture news.

Yes, Lawd! Anderson .Paak Sings, Dances, And Drums With Elmo And Cookie Monster On ‘Sesame Street’

You gotta give it up to Sesame Street and the stellar slate of musical guests that have already appeared in the show’s 52nd season. The lineup of artists once again looks like it was picked by a team of people who clearly have their finger on the pop culture pulse. First, it was Billie Eilish and her ode to the Number 2 (the actual number, not… you know) with the Count. Then it was Kacey Musgraves‘ bouncy disco-pop tune about colors. And now in the latest episode, the multi-talented Anderson .Paak joined Elmo and Cookie Monster to sing about the many Holidays we all celebrated (in case you didn’t know, holiday starts with the letter “H.”)

.Paak began by walking down the step of the timeless Sesame Street stoop with flannel pants, a cardigan sweater, a newsboy cap, and an ear-to-ear smile that never leaves his face. He’s quickly joined by Elmo and Cookie Monster as .Paak leads the trio through a laundry list of notable holidays, paying homage to all denominations in the process. Among them they nod to M.L.K. Day, Indigenous People’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Hannuakah, Ramadan, Diwali, Passover, Dia de Los Muertos, and Cookie Monster’s personal favorite, Christmas. “Ooh that makes me jolly!” he says while taking a bite out of a cookie shaped like a Christmas tree.

Paak closes out the song on the drums, and the best moment in the clip comes when he and Elmo prank Cookie Monster. “The world is out of cookies!” .Paak says to a noticeably distressed Cookie Monster. “No I’m serious! Ain’t no more cookies in the world, fam!” before Paak and Elmo shout in unison: “APRIL FOOLS.”

Nice work, Sesame Street. Nice work.
