A$AP Rocky Gets Trial Date In A$AP Relli Shooting After Pleading Not Guilty

ASAP Rocky Relli 1 1

Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky has finally been given a trial date in the shooting of A$AP Relli after pleading not guilty.

Rolling Stone has confirmed that Superior Court Judge Karla Kerlin set two preliminary hearing dates for June 28 and August 2, with the trial scheduled to begin on October 21. Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and faces up to 24 years in prison if found guilty.

Last year, a judge ruled that there was enough evidence for Mayers to stand trial over the charges.

Rocky allegedly shot his former friend and crew member A$AP Relli during a “heated argument” in Hollywood back in 2021. Relli claimed that the tension grew between the two after Rocky agreed to help one of the deceased crew members’ family, but reportedly never did.

Relli claims that A$AP Rocky arrived to a meeting in an L.A. hotel with multiple men, pointed a gun at his stomach and said: “I’ll kill you right now.” In his testimony he also says that he was shot shortly afterwards and claims Rocky shot him four times, including once in the hand before leaving the scene of the shooting.

A video shown in court during a preliminary hearing included audio of two gunshots around 10 p.m. PT on November 6, 2021, which is a major piece of the prosecution’s evidence of the shooting.

Relli is also suing Rocky and his attorney Joe Tacopina for defamation, accusing them of running a media campaign that says his entire testimony is fabricated.

ASAP Rocky & His Lawyer Sued By ASAP Relli For Defamation

It looks like the seemingly paused legal case between A$AP Rocky and A$AP Relli just got a huge reopening. For those unaware, the latter sued the former for allegedly shooting him in 2021, a civil case that they paused in December of last year. Moreover, now Relli sued Rocky again, but this time for defamation, and also added his lawyer Joe Tacopina as a defendant according to legal docs reportedly obtained by TMZ. Specifically, the ASAP Mob member claims that the attorney defamed him during a campaign defending the New York rapper. Not only that, but he claims that the father of two directed Tacopina to portray Relli as a cash-hungry, deceitful extortionist.

“Rocky didn’t commit a crime,” Tacopina said of ASAP Rocky’s alleged shooting in an article reportedly cited by this new suit. “It was an extortion attempt by a former associate, who threatened to make false, criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him.” Furthermore, ASAP Relli wants an unspecified amount in damages in this case, as he stated he received death threats and online harassment due to what he claims are lies about him and the shooting. The “RIOT” MC pled not guilty in the case.

“This is actually nothing more than a publicity stunt which is going to backfire badly,” ASAP Rocky’s lawyer told TMZ. “I more than welcome this lawsuit especially because the resolution of the criminal case has not happened yet. This opens up this extortionist to depositions under oath now before the resolution of the criminal case. It will expose the fraud he committed and unfortunately for his lawyers, it will cause them to be responsible for legal fees in this case.

“They don’t know the facts of this case or the actions taken by their client,” he continued. “But I will be more than happy to educate them.” This further complicated an already murky legal battle, and reopened it in the public eye. We’ll see if anything significant comes from this, and if it actually ends up resolving the present shooting debacle. On that note, stay posted on HNHH for the latest news and updates on ASAP Rocky and ASAP Relli’s lawsuits.

A$AP Rocky Ordered To Return To Court To Determine If Shooting Case Will Go To Trial

He may be preparing for the arrival of his second child, but A$AP Rocky’s legal troubles are intensifying. In August 2022, Rocky pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault. It was related to a shooting involving A$AP Relli, real name Terrell Ephron. According to reports, Rocky is accused of firing shots in Relli’s direction during an altercation in Hollywood, Calif., in November 2021. In addition to the criminal case, Relli also filed a civil lawsuit against his former friend.

More recently, The Daily Mail has offered an update on the criminal case. There was reportedly yet another hearing today (March 14) in Downtown Los Angeles. Rocky has been out on $550K bail and wasn’t present in court, but he was ordered to return. Judge Kerry White wants Rocky back in court on June 5 for a hearing to determine if the case goes to trial.

A$AP Rocky Allegedly First Pointed Firearm At Relli

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – AUGUST 17: Rapper A$AP Rocky (R) pleads not guilty to assault charges during his arraignment hearing at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center on August 17, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, has been charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm stemming from a November 2021 incident in Hollywood. According to reports, Rocky first pointed a gun at Relli. Later, during an argument, he’s accused of letting off a few shots, and one reportedly grazed his target. Relli walked away with a minor injury, but he’s taking Rocky to court. “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences,” said Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón. “Not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood. My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case. [We] determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

However, in September of last year, Rocky’s legal team filed documents denying he was responsible for any shooting. “Answering defendant generally denies each and every allegation of the complaint. And specifically denies that plaintiff has been damaged in any amount or in any way as a result of any act or omission of answering defendant,” a filing obtained by Complex reads. It further alleged Relli’s injuries were caused by someone else. Additionally, it says that Relli “failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid the consequences of harm.”

The rapper’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, also denied the allegations. “Rocky didn’t commit a crime,” Tacopina said. He described it as an extortion attempt by a former associate. Tacopina also claimed Relli “threatened to make false criminal accusations if Rocky didn’t pay him. What will become abundantly clear in the upcoming months, based on facts and evidence, is that Rocky is innocent of these charges.”

According to several confirmed reports, ASAP Rocky has been charged with felony assault with a firearm, which stems from the November 2021 shooting in Hollywood where the victim has recently been revealed to be one of his former A$AP crew members.

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Meyers, is accused of shooting Terell Ephron aka A$AP Relli after he came forward and said that Rocky was the shooter. Just before the arraignment, which is scheduled for tomorrow(August 17) Rocky was charged with the felony assault after Relli accused the rapper of luring him to an obscure location and shooting him in his left hand without provocation.

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” said L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

A$AP Rocky was arrested for the shooting in April at LAX Airport on his return from Barbados with Rihanna, before posting a $550,000 bond.

Relli alleges that he suffered physical, mental and emotional injuries, while also receiving death threats after being shot. He’s seeking at least $25,000 in damages. Rocky faces up to nine years behind bars if convicted.

According to several confirmed reports, former A$AP Mob member A$AP Rell has come forward as the man that A$AP Rocky allegedly shot last year and was arrested for upon his return from Barbados with RIhanna.

“Unbeknownst to Mr. Ephron, A$AP Rocky was not just planning for a conversation and came armed with a semi-automatic handgun,” the statement claims. “After arriving at the location, a conversation ensued whereby without provocation, warning, or any justification, A$AP Rocky produced the handgun and intentionally fired multiple shots at Mr. Ephron.”
