50 Cent Announced ‘The Final Lap Tour’ To Celebrate ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ With Busta Rhymes And Jeremih

50 Cent alerted everyone something was coming, but nobody could have expected this. 50 Cent Devoted His Instagram To A Presumed ‘Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ Anniversary Countdown Clock

Before 50 Cent began building his sprawling universe, which should eventually include Lady Danger on Amazon Freevee, he laid the foundation with his 2003 debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Uproxx celebrated its 20th anniversary in February by ranking the 34 best 50 Cent songs.

“I want you to understand something about this. I am in no way, shape, or form exaggerating in even the teeny tiniest little bit when I say that this album F*CKED THE GAME UP,” Uproxx‘s Aaron Williams wrote. “We talk a lot in this business about ‘groundbreaking,’ ‘earth-shattering,’ or even paradigm-shifting albums. Usually, that’s a bunch of nonsense. But this time? This time, it’s all the way real.”

50 appears to understand the significance of his seminal project.

On Wednesday, May 3, he posted a 24-hour countdown clock labeled “20 Years Later…,” and the only logical conclusion is that it’s related to Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

It’s the only post on 50 Cent’s Instagram grid. He also shared the semi-mysterious clock to his Instagram Story and on Twitter.

In February, 50 marked the official 20th anniversary by making autographies vinyls of Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ available for seven days.

“20 years ago today, I dropped the largest debuting hip-hop album of all time,” he captioned a since-deleted Instagram post on February 6, as captured by HipHopDX. “Here’s Your chance to Own a piece of History!”

For the record, 50 Cent has gotten very rich in the decades since.

50 Cent Sparks Album Speculation After Clearing His Instagram Page

It’s been 20 years since 50 Cent made his major label debut with Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. Although Fif is far more involved in his television efforts than music, he’s hinted at making a return to the booth. It appears that he might actually be coming through with new music soon, now that he’s cleared his Instagram page. Afterward, he shared a single post with a 24-hour countdown, captioning the post, “20 years later.” Unfortunately, he didn’t provide much else besides that but we’re certainly hoping it’s a sign that he has new music on the way.

The rapper’s teased new music since the beginning of the year. In January, he confirmed that he reunited with Dr. Dre for his upcoming music efforts. He explained Eminem reached out to him to confirm that the NWA producer was ready to cook up. “I got a text from [Eminem] that he had already spoke to Dre, and that Dre is in there and he got some crazy stuff for me to go hear,” he said. “This is my process: I’ll go make something, what I can find, the best music that I can put my hands on. And when I feel real good about it, I bring it to put pressure on Dre to offer me something.”

50 Cent Hints At New Music

There’s evidently a huge demand for 50 Cent’s comeback. It’s been nearly 10 years since the release of Animal Ambition. However, he doubled down on his desire to release new music in February. “I get the attention that I want from music when I want it,” he told Billboard. “I just went out and toured 45 countries, and everywhere was sold out. That made me want to offer new music that I could integrate into everything now. I’ve done what I wanted to do in the [sales] capacity. I’ve sold over 35 million records. Not singles — albums.”

At this point, we have to wait and see what happens in the next 24 hours. Although it’s possible that he’s gearing up to release new music in the near future, he also has his plate full of a number of projects. Earlier this year, he confirmed that he struck a partnership deal with Fox to produce several projects including scripted dramas, comedies, and animated series. Maybe we could expect his upcoming album to align with one of his many TV shows. Check out 50 Cent’s post above.

50 Cent Got A Kick Out Of Roy Wood Jr.’s ‘BMF’ Shoutout At The White House Correspondents Dinner

50 Cent has mostly stayed out of politics for the last couple of years — and thank goodness, considering some of the stuff he’s said in the past, joking or not. But that didn’t stop him from getting a kick out of the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner — specifically, Roy Wood Jr.’s speech shouting out 50’s shows BMF and Power as he joked about Tucker Carlson’s abrupt departure from the spotlight for embarrassing Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch (who should be embarrassed about Fox News in general, but I digress).

In the clip, which 50 posted to Instagram, Wood jokes:

“The untouchable Tucker Carlson is out of the job. Well, some people celebratin’. But to Tucker’s staff, I want you to know that I know what you’re feeling. I work at The Daily Show, so I too know what it’s like to be blindsided by the sudden departure of the host of the fake news program. Tucker got caught up! He got caught up like that dude from Vanderpump Rules. Text message stuff. I don’t know what Vanderpump Rules is about, only watched it a couple times. My friends tell me it’s like BMF but for white people. Or is that Succession? No, Succession is Power but for white people. No! Tucker Carlson is power for white people. No, that’s white power, ya know never mind, don’t worry about that one.

I’m not sure that those are the comparisons that I would make for those shows (BMF and Power have more in common with The Sopranos and Peaky Blinders than a reality show about a rich white lady’s various businesses) but 50 — and President Joe Biden — seem pretty amused. Check out the clip above.

50 Cent Loved Roy Wood Jr.’s Monologue

April 29 marked the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. If you’re unfamiliar with what that is, it’s when an annual event that serves a roast of the President, popular culture, and the world as it is. It’s become famous for both its host monologues as well as the remarks made by the President himself.

Obama was especially noted for this WHCDs, once bringing out Keegan Michael-Key to play his “anger translator” while he made his speech. Many famous faces were in attendance last night, ranging from sports stars to the cast of Vanderpump Rules. While not in attendance, 50 Cent shared his feelings on part of the monologue delivered by The Daily Show host Roy Wood Jr.

50 Cent Declares “BMF” and “Power” Joke “Some Funny Shit”

A large portion of both Wood Jr. and Biden’s remarks revolved around the recent firing of long-time Fox host, Tucker Carlson. “Scandals have been devouring careers this year,” Wood Jr. begins in the clip shared by 50 Cent, “The untouchable Tucker Carlson is out of the job. [cheers and applause from the audience] Well, some people celebratin’. But to Tucker’s staff, I want you to know that I know what you’re feeling. I work at The Daily Show, so I too know what it’s like to be blindsided by the sudden departure of the host of the fake news program.”

“Tucker got caught up! He got caught up like that dude from Vanderpump Rules,” Wood Jr. continued, “Text message stuff. We gotta Tucker back on the air, Mister President. Right now there’s millions of Americans who don’t know why they hate you.” 50 Cent, who created BMF and Power declared it “some funny shit”. He also poked fun at the unflattering shot of President Biden the clip ends with. What did you think of the WHCD monologue?

Today In Hip Hop History: 50 Cent Dropped His ‘Guess Who’s Back?’ Mixtape 21 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2023 04 26 at 7.02.59 AM

Today in 2002, 50 Cent released Guess Who’s Back?, his first official mixtape following the Power of the Dollar LP on the Full Clip Records indie imprint.

It was this offering that would catapult Curtis Jackson into the public eye. Eventually, the project would gain the attention of Eminem via his attorney/manager Paul Rosenberg and Shady would ultimately sign 50 Cent to Shady Records/Interscope and a new Hip Hop icon would be born.

Guess Who’s Back features production from Trackmasters, Clark Kent, Sha Money Xl, and featured street anthems like, “Your Life’s On The Line”. It also had the controversial song, “Ghetto Qu’ran” which allegedly led to his almost deadly shooting in 2000.

The album charted on Billboard setting up the G-Unit era and a lengthy career that continues today. 50 Cent would go on to release his mega Interscope debut, “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” and become a top charting and live show sellout artist.

Salute to Fif for this timeless and necessary piece of Hip Hop history!
