Conway The Machine Shares Big Ghost Ltd. Reimagining Of “Made Bosses”

Conway The Machine has had an extremely prolific 2023. He began the year with a short collaborative tape with label-mate Jae Skeese called Pain Provided Profit. That was followed up by Conway’s newest studio album WON’T HE DO IT in May. The track featured appearances from Conway’s Griselda contemporaries Westside Gunn and Benny The Butcher as well as Juicy J, Fabolous, and more. Conway also appeared multiple times across Drumwork The Album a compilation released by his label Drumwork.

Then in September, he teamed up with rapper and producer 38 Spesh for yet another collaborative tape. The project was called Speshal Machinery and features appearances from Lloyd Banks, Benny The Butcher, Elcamino, Emanny, Pharoahe Munch, and Che Noir. The album was pretty well received by Conway’s fans with two songs in particular standing out. “Latex Gloves” with Lloyd Banks and “Goodfellas” with Benny The Butcher have both racked up more than 500k streams on Spotify since the album was released. Now, Conway and Spesh have shared a new version of one of the album’s deep cuts.

Conway The Machine And 38 Spesh Are Still Bosses

On the original Speshal Machine, the penultimate song is “Made Bosses” featuring Emanny. Subsequently, a few months after the album’s release the song is getting a brand new version. That new version is courtesy of Big Ghost Ltd. who has worked with Conway and Griselda pretty extensively in the past.

Conway himself has teamed up with Big Ghost Ltd. for a pair of collaborative efforts. The first came in 2021 with their project IF IT BLEEDS IT CAN BE KILLED. The second came a year later when they released another collab album called What Has Been Blessed Cannot Be Cursed. 38 Spesh & Elcamino Team Up For Gritty New EP “Martyrs Prayer II”

As brief as EPs can be, sometimes they are truly the distilled and absolute best parts of an artistic link-up. Here to prove that are rapper Elcamino and rapper-producer 38 Spesh, who take up bar-spitting duties and behind-the-board responsibilities respectively on Martyrs Prayer II. Moreover, if you are a fan of Griselda, you’ve probably heard these names before; if you’re not but you love hip-hop of the Golden Age, you should check this out. It’s a concise, skillful, and often reflective and dense collection of six tracks, which equal all killer and no filler. Spesh’s production is dusty, nonetheless versatile, and punchy, whereas the They Spit On Jesus MC is a compelling and narratively talented spitter.

Furthermore, Martyrs Prayer II‘s title indicates a somber reflection on lives of crime and struggle, which is definitely reflected on a few bars and beats. Just look at the languid bass on “No Drums” or the wistful keys on “Streets Don’t Love Us” for indications of that, in addition to Elcamino’s wordplay and picture-painting. Of course, this chemistry between him and 38 Spesh is hardly a shocker, as they have collaborated on full-length projects to great success before. For example, there’s the 2020 record Sacred Psalms, plus many other one-off tracks.

Meanwhile, as pretty prolific figures within rap, it’s also not surprising that this is just one of their various musical endeavors form 2023. For 38 Spesh, one instance of this is the aptly titled Conway The Machine collab album, Speshal Machinery. All we can hope for is that it’s not the last thing they drop for the next couple of months, because this confident, grounded, and vintage take on boom-bap is always a welcome treat. 38 Spesh & Conway The Machine Feat. Lloyd Banks “Latex Gloves” And Collab Album ‘Speshal Machinery’ Announced

Aligned with a similar set of core values, T.C.F. and Griselda have long maintained a mutual respect and prosperous working relationship with one another. 

38 Spesh is coming off perhaps his biggest year ever in 2022, as he released fan favorites 7 Shots (which was highlighted by Kevin Durant as one of his top 5 albums of 2022 and even named Spesh his favorite rapper) and Beyond Belief with Harry Fraud.  

Conway The Machine followed up his Shady Records major label debut, God Don’t Make Mistakes, with his recently released solo album, Won’t He Do It, and Drumwork’s first official label compilation Conway The Machine Presents: Drumwork The Album; on which Spesh & Conway provided a foreshadowing of things to come with “Lalo.”   

Now, Spesh & Conway are announcing their own collaborative album Speshal Machinery, and also released the album’s first single, “Latex Gloves,” featuring Lloyd Banks.  “Latex Gloves” is now available at all DSP’s.  

“Banks shouted me out on Twitter, so I reached out.  He asked me to jump on his album and then returned the favor” 38 Spesh explains.  “He seemed like the perfect fit for the first single for me and Conway’s project.”   

38 Spesh & Conway The Machine’s Speshal Machinery will be released on 9-8-23 via T.C.F. Music Group.
