Lil Wayne Celebrates The 20th Anniversary Of “Tha Carter” By Putting New Fans On

One of Lil Wayne’s most legendary projects, and arguably the one that shot him up into the stratosphere of hip-hop, celebrated its 20th anniversary on Saturday (June 29). Moreover, Tha Carter has spent two full decades captivating fans and providing a crucial blueprint for modern rap, and it’s been a wonderful journey to witness. “I’m Weezy F. Baby and this is Tha Carter,” Weezy tweeted on Saturday, quote-tweeting a post about the album’s anniversary to invite newer and casual fans to do their homework. With a reunion with Birdman going down recently as well, it’s a great time for him to reflect on his amazing career and strive to live up to this potential in the future.

Furthermore, Lil Wayne is also making sure that he forms a strong relationship with the new generation, such as basketball star and rapper Flau’jae Johnson. She recently spoke on their collaboration “Came Out A Beast” off her new album Best Of Both Worlds and how it lit a spark under her creative flames. “Working with Lil Wayne on ‘Came Out a Beast’ was a surreal experience,” Johnson stated to Complex. “His energy and talent pushed me to new heights.”

But don’t think that Lil Wayne isn’t reflecting on the game as a whole as opposed to his sole contributions, because he’s often got two cents to share on the game. For example, he recently updated his top five MCs of all time list in an interview, and it carried a different context compared to his previous rankings. Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Eminem, and Biggie Smalls made the list, and so did Young Money partner Drake. This caught many fans’ eyes and ears due to Drizzy’s current beef with Kendrick Lamar, and the fact that K.Dot didn’t make the list.

Of course, it’s not like the Compton lyricist had to make the list, or that Lil Wayne had previously included him, but it’s a curious choice nonetheless for fans. After all, why wouldn’t the New Orleans legend pick one of his proteges? We’re sure that Nicki Minaj is number six. Between a LeBron James-assisted Beats commercial, more new music on the way, and celebrations of his iconic past work, it’s a great time to be Tunechi right now.

Kanye West Claims He Created All Popular Music From The Last 20 Years

For better or worse, it’s impossible to tell the story of hip-hop, or that of popular music in the 21st century, without mentioning Ye. Although he’s still in a heap of controversy due to his antisemitic remarks and his interpersonal relationships, his impact on music and pop culture is among the most undeniable and enduring of the past few decades at this point. While the Chicago artist has not always used this influence and power responsibly, he’s very cognizant of it. Moreover, he recently sat down with Big Boy for a rare new interview, lining up with a backlash-inducing Rolling Loud L.A. performance with Ty Dolla $ign, who also joined them.

“And of this music game, I am, but not under Lucian,” Ye remarked, likely referencing UMG CEO Lucian Grainge. “You know what I’m saying, I invented every style of music of the past 20 years. I created the genre. I created The Weeknd genre, Trav, Drake… Everybody. I’m gonna go ahead and say, with all love, Future and Thug also. Because the autotune album. 808s, if you think about it. Everybody think about Trav, Weeknd, and Drake, but no one thinks about Future and Thug also. Autotune album. Now everyone, they added what it was to it. But here’s a new genre. It’s called the ‘making your own money‘ genre.”

Ye Speaks On His Influence With Big Boy: Watch Clip

Of course, this is pretty undeniable, as Ye changed a lot for hip-hop in the 2000s as far as sound, image, and ethos. That transformation continued throughout the 2010s, and there’s no other artist in hip-hop who’s remained as magnanimous and relevant for three decades… again, for better or worse. As fans still await VULTURES 2, there’s been a lot of debate over whether the 46-year-old still has what it takes musically. Even though there are more important moral and ethical questions to answer concerning his career right now, it’s undeniable that his ability to resonate and create new moments remains untouched.

Meanwhile, do you agree with the “HOODRAT” artist’s assessment of his career? Will the “making your own money” genre make a comeback amid adidas’ losses? However you may feel, drop your thoughts down in the comments section below. Also, for more news and the latest updates on Ye, check back in with HNHH.

Lil Zay Osama Faces 20-Year Sentence Following Gun Charges & Indictment

Lil Zay Osama’s recent arrest for gun possession and retail theft is remaining a court battle for the foreseeable future. Moreover, a New York grand jury indicted him on Wednesday (January 24) for possession of a machine gun and unregistered firearm possession, which could result in a 20-year sentence at maximum. The rapper, now in state custody in Illinois on unrelated charges, allegedly left a loaded Glock pistol with a switch in a car riding from Manhattan to Queens, which he used as a ride-share, and was arrested in 2022. He will face arraignment at a later date, and he was arrested in December of 2023 following a police chase.

“As alleged, [Isaiah] Dukes [Lil Zay Osama’s real name] brought a machine gun into our District, and then dangerously left it in the back of a ride-share,” Breon Peace, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, shared. “This Office, together with our law enforcement partners, will continue to work diligently to protect our communities from such dangerous weapons.

“His indictment is a stark reminder that loaded, illegal firearms -– sometimes modified to maximize their deadly potential, as alleged in this case -– continue to be brought into and carried throughout New York City,” Edward Caban, New York Police Department Commissioner, also remarked. “Let me be clear. This behavior will not be tolerated here. The NYPD vows to keep our streets safe from guns and anyone who unlawfully possesses them. I commend and thank the ride-share driver who observed this weapon for doing what we always ask of all New Yorkers. He saw something and he said something, and he possibly saved lives in the process.”

Meanwhile, this is what the MC had to say on Instagram in response to all of his legal trouble. “I guarantee n***as gone need me before I need them,” he wrote. “I’ll be home sooner than you think. Blink n***a [purple devil emoji].” For more news and the latest updates on Lil Zay Osama, log back into HNHH.

Rot Ken Posts Up With Fellow Inmates With New Look After Receiving 20-Year Sentence

After receiving a 20-year prison sentence, now fans have a new peep at Internet Money rapper Rot Ken thanks to his latest Instagram post. “If You Think I’m Lien In My Raps Come Figure Me Out #FreeDaRest,” he captioned the post alongside a couple of coffin emojis. In the pictures themselves, you can see the MC linking up with a few of his fellow inmates in jail, as they pose for the camera. The biggest detail that hardcore fans will notice with this post is that his typical dreadlocks aren’t there anymore, and it’s a dramatic new look for him.

Furthermore, a lot of Rot Ken fans in the comments were glad to see him online again amid his personal life updates. However, a lot of them also expressed disappointment that he engaged with this street life without transitioning out of it through his career in the first place. Regardless on what side of the argument they fell on, though, most users called for the Georgia native’s freedom. Sure, some folks hyper-fixated on his new shaved head, but most of them had their priorities straight.

For those unaware, Rot Ken’s 20-year prison sentence stems from a fatal robbery in Richmond County in June of 2021. The court had previously him him with murder and aggravated assault charges for an April 2021 shooting. As of writing this article, it’s unclear whether these two cases connect in any way or if arrests for them happened at the same time. Either way, a judge sentenced the 20-year-old to 15 years for first-degree burglary and an additional five years for firearm possession during a crime commission.

Meanwhile, Ken’s age and the fact that he was just starting to get into the limelight make this case all the more saddening. Not because he shouldn’t be accountable for his crimes, but because it shows that the music industry won’t always remove you from harsh circumstances. Hopefully the rest of 2023 breezes by with no more incarcerated rappers, deceased MCs, or convicted criminal artists. For more news and the latest updates on Rot Ken, come back to HNHH.

Suspects In ASAP Press Murder Sentenced To Decades In Prison

Seven years after Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings shot ASAP Press in the back of the head, the New York State Supreme Court found them both guilty of his death. For those unaware, the A$AP Mob member survived the shooting initially, but succumbed to a fatal seizure in 2018 which stemmed from the attack’s lingering head injury. Moreover, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr. sentenced the two men to 20 years to life in state prison on two counts second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. In addition, the crimes at hand include second-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to a press release.

Furthermore, their connection stems from ASAP Press reaching out to Taylor through a mutual friend in July of 2016. Press needed a luxury car for a music video shoot, and Taylor set the rent price at $1,000 for two cars, which Press mostly paid off upfront weeks later. However, Taylor did not provide the vehicles as agreed, and the Harlem native’s attempts to get his money back were unsuccessful. This kept going on for quite some time, at least for a full month before things escalated.

ASAP Mob Mourns Its Fallen Member Press

In late August of 2016, Taylor threatened ASAP Press over his consistent attempts and warned him to call it quits over the phone. It’s also possible that Press made threats in the other direction, but regardless, after this series of text message interactions, Taylor contacted his friend, Hastings. They met up with the collective member in Harlem and shot him, but he survived. Years later, while attending a music festival in Houston, Press passed away, and a medical examiner found that the seizure directly related to the shooting’s head injury.

“Chester Taylor and Darius Hastings shot and killed a young Harlemite with great ambitions, talent and a bright future,” the Manhattan D.A. remarked. “Although Pressie Taylor Jr. miraculously survived the shooting in its initial aftermath, his life was forever changed. He made a valiant attempt at resuming his life and music career, but unfortunately, he succumbed to the effects of his serious injuries, depriving his family and community of a promising star. Thanks to the jury’s careful review of the evidence, both defendants were found to be responsible for his murder. I hope that the sentences imposed today bring the victim’s family some form of peace.” For more news and the latest updates on the ASAP Mob, come back to HNHH.

NSYNC Might Be Teaming Up With Justin Timberlake For Their First Song In 20 Years

Legendary pop group *NSYNC might just be back soon after all, thanks to a new Entertainment Tonight report. Moreover, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass might reunite on wax for the first time in over twenty years for the soundtrack of the next Trolls movie, Trolls Band Together. Not only that, but the source who spoke to the publication of this alleged development also claimed they will have secret roles in the film itself, which releases on November 17 of this year. Given Timberlake’s strong involvement in the franchise as both a character and soundtrack contributor, maybe this is the perfect setting for everyone to get a big, fat check for nostalgia’s sake and have some fun.

Furthermore, this isn’t the singer’s only reunion this year. In addition to the boy band that launched him coming back (reportedly), Justin Timberlake went back in the studio with Timbaland and even called Nelly Furtado for the sessions. But while the Timbaland news saw confirmation and teasing for quite some time, the news on the NSYNC front had been quite reserved until now. For whatever reason, though, this blockbuster is looking like a solid chance.

Trolls Band Together Trailer Hints At NSYNC Reunion

After all, the trailer above even hints at this reunion in a corny but playfully funny way. “We’re out of sync,” singer Troye Sivan’s character tells Timberlake’s character in the teaser. “We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: to the back streets.” Sure, maybe you find all those boy band and male group references to be a bit of an eye-roll, but this is Trolls we’re talking about. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if NSYNC’s return isn’t on this big stage, but rather performed by these cartoon characters for a kids movie?

Irony aside, die-hards fans of NSYNC are probably really excited with this news, given that the last song they ever put out was a single for their last album, was back in 2002. They’ve reunited either partly or fully on occasion, most notably when the group except Timberlake joined Ariana Grande at Coachella. So here’s hoping that these rumors are true, because even after twenty years, we still don’t want to say “Bye Bye Bye.” For the latest news on this potential NSYNC reunion and more on Justin Timberlake, check back in with HNHH.
