Cardi B has her eye on the Super Bowl headlining performance. The “Bongos” superstar stated the big performance is now on her list.
Popping up on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Cardi B revealed she has softened her stance on performing the show after she reportedly passed up the chance in 2019 due to the NFL’s issues with Colin Kaepernick.
“Yes, now I would say yes. Things change,” Cardi said.
Before a possible Super Bowl performance, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are ready to light up the stage at the 2023 “VMAs” with the debut performance of their newly released single, “Bongos.” The electrifying event will occur at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Sept. 12th, starting at 8 PM ET/PT.
The dynamic duo previously received significant recognition at the 2021 “VMAs” when their iconic hit single, “WAP,” earned them five nominations, including “Song of the Summer,” “Video of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Best Collaboration,” and “Best Hip Hop.” “WAP” made history as the first female rap collaboration to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, spent four weeks at the top spot, and was certified 8x platinum in the U.S.
Cardi B, with an impressive 29 “VMAs” nominations to her name, will also compete this year with GloRilla for “Best Hip Hop,” a category she previously won in 2019. She’s known for her memorable “VMAs” moments, including presenting Missy Elliott with the prestigious Vanguard award and her 2018 stunt where she teased fans with a glimpse of her child Kulture, revealing a hidden Moon Person trophy in a baby blanket.
Megan Thee Stallion, an award-winning icon with 19 “VMAs” nominations and two wins, delivered a spectacular performance of “Hot Girl Summer” on the pre-show stage in 2019, earning her the Moon Person for “Best Power Anthem.” This year, she’s nominated in categories like “Best Choreography” and “Best Art Direction.”
With their upcoming “Bongos” performance, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are set to deliver another unforgettable “VMAs” moment.
