Air Jordan 1 Mid “Canvas Khaki” Unveiled

If you are a fan of sneakers, then the Air Jordan 1 Mid should absolutely be part of your collection. Sure, the Jordan 1 High OG gets most of the love, but the Mid is also a great option. Typically, these colorways are more unique, and most importantly, more accessible.

Overall, it is hard to go wrong with this shoe. Furthermore, women sneakerheads have been blessed with a plethora of colorways as of late. The women’s exclusives are just as good as the men’s shoes, and Jumpman continues to prove this notion to be true.

Air Jordan 1 Mid Goes Canvas

In the images down below, you can find the latest Air Jordan 1 Mid for women. This model is simply called “Canvas Khaki,” which is certainly an appropriate name for it. This is a shoe that is going to truly shine in the Spring, and perhaps even the Fall.

Firstly, the shoe begins with a light beige canvas on the toe box and side panels. Secondly, the overlays are a darker shade of beige that verges into khaki territory. From there, the back heel overlays are an orangish-brown. Lastly, the Nike swoosh is a shiny shade of beige. Overall, it creates a dope shoe with a ton of neutral tones.

Justin Bieber Nearing Close In $200M Deal For Music Catalog

More artists are selling the rights to their catalogs for exorbitant amounts. Justin Bieber is the latest to hop on this trend, and it seems like he could be cashing out on nearly a quarter million.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Biebs is closing in on what could be the biggest music rights acquisition in Hipgnosis Songs Capital’s history. The company reportedly placed a $200M bid on the Canadian singer’s catalog. The deal includes his entire discography — six albums, numerous singles, and several features.

Hipgnosis Songs Capital acquired some major catalogs over the past year. In May, the company dropped $100M to secure Justin Timberlake’s catalog including songs like “Cry Me A River.” Prior to that, Hipgnosis purchased Leonard Cohen’s catalog for an undisclosed amount.

Though there’s a lot of risk with purchasing artists’ catalogs, especially with younger music, Bieber’s older singles will certainly prove even more lucrative down the line.

Besides news about his catalog, Justin Bieber’s remained in headlines this week after calling out H&M. The clothing company began selling unofficial Bieber merch which he described as “trash.” The merch line included tote bags, phone accessories, and clothing with his likeness and lyrics. However, Bieber encouraged his loyal and dedicated following to boycott the collection.

“I didn’t approve any of the merch collection that they put up at H&M… all without my permission and approval. SMH I wouldn’t buy it if I were you,” he wrote on Instagram. “The H&M merch they made of me is trash and I didn’t approve it. Don’t buy it.”

Since then, the clothing retailer’s pulled all of their unofficial Bieber merch off of shelves. In a statement released to Forbes, the company reiterated that they “followed proper approval procedures.” However, they said that they won’t sell the items anymore “out of respect for the collaboration and Justin Bieber.”

Bieber has yet to respond but we’ll keep you posted if he does.

Brittney Griner Urges Fans To Support Paul Whelan

Brittney Griner is finally back home following a long and grueling 10 months in a Russian prison. Of course, Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport with a weed cartridge in her bag. Consequently, Griner was hit with a nine-year prison sentence.

Subsequently, the United States government was able to negotiate a prisoner swap to bring her home. This was great news, especially since it is Christmas this weekend. Her family wanted her home for the Holidays, and that is exactly what they got.

Brittney Griner Writers To Paul Whelan

During Griner’s time in Russia, the U.S. government was also trying to bring home former marine, Paul Whelan. Unfortunately, Russia played hardball with Whelan as he is in prison on espionage charges. Regardless, Griner has not forgotten about Whelan, and she is urging her fans to support him, any way they can.

In the Instagram post below, Griner wrote a letter to the fans who wrote her letters in prison. Griner now wants fans to direct that energy to Whelan and the various other families that have been ripped apart overseason.

“My family is whole and now, thanks to you, we are fortunate to get to spend the holidays together. However, there remain too many families with loved ones wrongfully detained,” she wrote. […] “I hope you’ll join me in writing to Paul Whelan and continuing to advocate for other Americans to be rescued and returned to their families.”

It remains to be seen when Whelan will be brought home, however, it is good to see Griner offering her support. She is now dedicating her time and effort to other Americans abroad, which is beautiful to see.

Senator Gillibrand Secures $3M In Federal Funding For BX’s Universal Hip Hop Museum

Screen Shot 2022 12 21 at 3.53.41 PM

Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced she secured $3 million in funding in the year-end omnibus package to go toward construction of the Universal Hip Hop Museum, which broke ground in the South Bronx in May 2021 and is slated to open in 2024. The omnibus is expected to pass Congress and be signed into law this week.

The Universal Hip Hop Museum aims to become a tourist hub honoring the genre’s influence over art, music, fashion, film, marketing and entertainment, celebrating the pioneers who built the culture, such as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, DJ Kool Herc, Run DMC and Notorious B.I.G. The funds attained by Senator Gillibrand will go toward helping support the interior fit out of the facility, which is currently under construction at Bronx Point in the “Boogie Down” borough.

“The Bronx has historically been a creative incubator for so many wonderful genres of music, ranging from doo-wop to salsa, but few genres have left a greater mark on mainstream culture than hip hop music,” said U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. “It is amazing to see that what started as a party in the basement of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue became a global phenomenon that spawned artistry and entrepreneurs like Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, and 50 Cent. With the 50th anniversary of hip hop right around the corner, I am proud to have secured funds to help the Universal Hip Hop Museum celebrate everything that is beautiful about hip hop culture.”

Located in the borough that give birth to the musical genre, the Universal Hip Hop Museum is the only state-chartered educational museum that is focused on the preserving the genre’s deep musical history and celebrating the 5 elements of hip hop’s culture: emceeing, DJing, breakdancing, graffiti art, and knowledge.

Transcending language, age, race, geographic, and socioeconomic barriers, hip hop has grown from “New York City” street music getting minimal radio play that gave a voice to the voiceless to topping the Billboard charts thanks to musical acts such as Drake, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo, as well as influencing other genres ranging from pop music to R&B to heavy metal music.
