EST Gee Makes A Strong Impression With Funk Flex Freestyle

Funkmaster Flex is many things, and chief among his titles is facilitator of bars. Having been at the center of countless freestyles — including Black Thought’s legendary ten-minute session, Action Bronson’s incredible “it’s not me rapping, it’s the parrot,” Tyler The Creator’s viral bars that had Flex questioning his existence, and Conway and Benny The Butcher’s murderous rampage — the masses have come to expect greatness whenever an emcee steps to Funk Flex’s mic.

Though some have questioned whether the new generation of hip-hop talent can hold it down in the freestyle department, Funk Flex has kept the tradition alive, inviting newcomer EST GEE to the fold for some bars. Flex prefaces that he first heard the Louisville emcee on Jack Harlow’s That’s What They All Say, and the rapper proceeded to pique his interest.

GEE wastes little time in setting a tone, taking to the cinematic and sinister instrumental with purpose. There’s something about his self-assured presence that gives him gravitas on a track, adding an authoritative tone to his streetlife reflections. “I’m enormous, money hoarder / known to get it cross the border,” he spits. “Out here I’m like Jordan, all us get a portion playing for EST / they feel like I owe em’ I’ma show em if they play with me / I can’t show no fake love, barely speak out here they hating on me.”

Check out EST’s new bars on Funk Flex below, and sound off if you’ll be putting the rising Louisville rapper on your radar.

Saweetie Reacts To Online Response From Quavo Split

On the same day that Saweetie publicly announced that she had broken up with Quavo, she was back at work, posing for photos as part of her latest feature with W Magazine. In fact, when she sent out her tweet telling the world that she was single, she was sitting in the makeup chair and getting dolled up for her shoot. Part of the interview was conducted on the same day, during which Saweetie addressed the public’s reaction to her breakup.

“I’ve learned that the world doesn’t stop for anybody,” she said, reflecting on how her post was blowing up on Twitter. “And it’s for sure not going to stop for me just because I got my heart broke. I was grateful to be doing the photo shoot. I was like, I can deal with all this later.” She later told the interviewer that she had stopped reading the comments about her split, adding, “I could give my attention to something that could drain me, or I could focus on what would empower me. And that is this shoot.”

The interview, which was published today, deals largely with Saweetie’s upcoming album release for Pretty Bitch Music. The Bay Area-based rapper kicked off the album rollout with the first season of her Pretty Summer Playlist, which included new songs featuring Drakeo The Ruler, Kendra Jae, and more.

Days after it was revealed that JAY-Z had struck a lucrative deal with LVMH for Armand de Brignac Champagne, it was announced that an ultra-rare bottle of D’Ussé 1969 Anniversaire, of which only 285 bottles were produced, was going up for auction. The diamond-shaped bottle was valued anywhere between $25,000 and $75,000 at the time of the auction. 50 Cent Takes It Back To Juvie Days With Throwback Pic

Alas, 50 Cent’s classic early tapes have to make the transition to streaming services. Truly unfortunate, given how enjoyable Power Of The Dollar and the street classic Guess Who’s Back remain to this day. And while diving into Fif’s pre-Shady-Aftermath catalog has become a difficult endeavor, relatively speaking, Fif himself has never been afraid to take his fans down memory lane in a different manner altogether.

Easily one of hip-hop’s most active Instagrammers, 50 has kept fans in tune with his come-up by way of throwback pictures, uploading a few vintage snapshots to his page ever so often. Today, Fif has shared a picture from thirty years ago, 1991 to be precise, along with an anecdote about his grandmother.

“Yo I was 15 in this picture on the South Side you have to grow up faster,” captions Fif, alongside the picture of his defiant teenage self. “I made a lot of mistakes I was already in juvie, I remember my Nana coming to see me, she is my angel. She love me unconditionally.” Twelve years later, he would go on to make history, signing a joint deal with Dr. Dre and Eminem and dropping one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

Given everything he has since built, including a substantial (and still growing) television empire, it’s always welcome to see a reminder of 50 Cent’s formative roots. And from the sound of it, he couldn’t have risen to where he is today without his Nana, who he still considers to be his angel. Check out the vintage picture below, a snapshot of 50 Cent’s time in juvie before a rap career was ever on the table.

Snoop Dogg Asks For Thoughts & Prayers

Snoop Dogg has always done his part to uplift fans through his endearing personality, taking on the role of hip-hop’s collective uncle. While he has long brought comfort through his music, sense of humor, and overall presence, it would appear that Snoop is going through a difficult time at the moment, as evidenced by some of his recent social media posts.

Yesterday, the beloved rapper took to Instagram to ask for thoughts and prayers for his mother, though he did not specify any details surrounding her health condition. “Sending special prayers out for my mom this morning y’all pray for her and me,” wrote Snoop, alongside a lovely picture of his mom. The post garnered many responses from fans and followers, prompting Snoop to share an additional message thanking those who came forward.

Pete Davidson Had A Phone Call With Eminem After Playing Him On ‘SNL’: ‘I Hung Up As Quick As Possible’

In recent months, Pete Davidson has found himself a new recurring character on Saturday Night Live: Eminem. He played the rapper in a pair of memorable sketches from December and March. That gave Davidson the opportunity to get on the phone with Eminem, a conversation that he described to Seth Meyers on yesterday’s Late Night.

Davidson spoke about the call and explained why he hung up on Eminem “as quick as possible,” saying:

“It went I think as good as it could go. Those [sketches] were written by the great Dan Bulla and Steven Castillo, great SNL writers, and [Chris] Redd. Eminem said a couple nice things about me and I of course heard them. I reached out, I was like, ‘I would just like to say thank you.’ And I just hit him up and said thanks and he was like, ‘Yeah man, you really did that. When I saw Stu on script, I was like, I don’t know how it was going to go, but after you did that, it was fire.’ I was like, ‘Oh thank you so much, you’re the coolest,’ and then I just hung up as quick as possible. That’s all you need, you don’t want anything more.”

Meyers elaborated on Davidson’s point about hanging up, adding, “When you talk to a hero, you don’t want to extend it. If you’re good, get out,” and Davidson agreed. Davidson also briefly touched on playing Joey Ramone in the upcoming movie I Slept With Joey Ramone, describing the decision to get him involved with the film as “either a really great or horrible choice by a studio and we will find out.”
