Kodak Black Documents His Birthday Weekend In the “Gleerious” Video
Kodak Black celebrated his 24th birthday earlier in the month. The Gemini rapper kicked off the Glo Day festivities by debuting his Happy Birthday Kodak EP, a four-track project with appearances from Jacquees, Rylo Rodriguez, Yo Gotti, and Lil Keed. He followed up by copping a controversial Kobe Bryant-inspired custom Lakers helicopter and Tesla.
Additionally, he was honored with his very own day in Broward County, crowned with the honor at a ceremony in recognition of his selfless contributions to the community. Already dropping the video for “Feelin’ Peachy,” the Pompano Beach native is back with the visual for “Gleerious.” “Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday Kodak/Happy Z Day/I got a bad mixed breed, she my DJ/Happy Birthday Kodak, Happy Z Day/Happy Birthday, Happy Z Day,” rhymes the rapper on the hook as he takes cameras along with him during his birthday festivities.

“I feel real good, I’m happy I’m back home, I’m focused, I’m putting all kind of stuff behind me, you know, Happy Birthday Kodak HBK,” says the rapper in a monologue before launching into the first scene, which shows off Kodak’s brand new gold and diamond-encrusted grills.

Kodak Black Faces Backlash Over Kobe Bryant Helicopter Tribute
Kodak Black turned 24-years-old last week and he celebrated his Mamba birthday by decking out his Tesla Model X with a custom purple and yellow wrap, making a tribute to late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. When he showed off the pimped-out ride, he did so in over-the-top fashion, filming all kinds of content for his social media channels. Right next to the Lakers-inspired car, Kodak had a mini-helicopter customized with purple and yellow colors, which has been the source of much backlash in the last few days.
Circling back to his birthday festivities, Kutthroat Bill showed off another look at his Tesla and helicopter, and finally, people have noticed how strange the tribute is– especially the inclusion of a Kobe-inspired helicopter, considering the circumstances behind his death.
“I’m Ouchea 24 a Day I’m Like KOBE,” wrote Yak as his caption. In the comments, people are speaking about the low-key disrespect being shown by the Florida rapper, who is obviously aware that Kobe passed away in a helicopter crash.
“nahh bro not the helicopter….” said one of the top comments. “dude really chose a helicopter out of everything to my purple and yellow. Smh, inconsiderate,” added another. “Idk about the helicopter dawg,” said somebody else.
Do you think he could have gone without the odd helicopter inclusion? Or is Kodak just being Kodak?

Michael B. Jordan Accused Of Cultural Appropriation For His New Rum Brand
Michael B. Jordan is the latest member of Hollywood to expand his portfolio into the alcoholic beverage industry. He joins Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Diddy, and others in his new venture into the spirits industry, but few have faced the almost instantaneous backlash Jordan is for his new J’Ouvert Rum brand.
Jordan is facing accusations of cultural appropriation by critics of all backgrounds, but especially those with Caribbean roots for naming the brand J’Ouvert after launching it on Sunday (June 20). Proud girlfriend Lori Harvey shared a series of snaps of the couple celebrating the launch, including one that provided a close look at a boxed set that included Jordan’s inspiration for naming the brand.

The description on the box for the rum reads, “Derives from the Antellian Creole French term meaning ‘daybreak,’ J’OUVERT originated in the pre-dawn streets of Trinidad, as celebration of emancipation combined with Carnival season to serve as the festival informal commencements. Crafted on those same islands, J’OUVERT Rum is a tribute to the party start.” Shortly thereafter, the rum started raising eyebrows by users across social media.
“Modern day j’ouvert may look fun to you because of all the music and mud and paint but if you knew anything about the vitality of trinbagonian people or west indian people it’s that through all we been through we celebrate our past and ancestors with jubilation,” explained one Twitter user. “we’re happy people despite it all. just because a festival or aspect of our culture looks fun and inviting does NOT mean it’s yours to take. everything here has a dark past but we make due in honour of those who came before us. respect it and leave it alone.”
Other users argued that using the word for a rum brand strips it of its sentimental value. Another user reports that the logo on the J’Ouvert Rum’s swag box depicted three islands, although Trinidad & Tobago is a two-island nation.
The official rum brand’s official page J’ouvert has since been made private, and both Jordan and his girlfriend Lori Harvey have erased all traces of their launch from social media following the backlash, although they live on through screenshotted content.
The Minister of Trade and Industry in Trinidad and Tobago, Paula Gopee-Scoon, has already weighed in on the matter, saying, “The first thing is to gather the information to see if it is in fact so. Then working together with the intellectual property office of the Ministry of the Attorney General, we’ll do the necessary investigation…”
Michael B. Jordan has yet to speak out about the situation.
Logic Jams Out With “Live From The Country”
Logic may very well have believed retirement was a viable outcome. After all, Bobby T has plenty of things to keep him busy. He’s a family man, a best-selling author, and even an occasional video game voice streamer. Yet as has been the case with many emcees before him, the call of the studio proved to be overpowering beyond the point of resistance. Before long, Logic was back in the booth spitting bars like he never left.
With an album presumably in the works — lest we forget that he only recently dropped off “Intro,” — Logic has come through with a freewheeling jam session titled “Live From The Country.” Brought to life by Bobby and his band of like-minded creative pals, Logic wastes little time in getting back to basics with his signature flow. “I’ve picked up the mic and serenaded the hotties,” he spits, over a lush blend of live instrumentation. “I drove the Impalas with cats that’s had bodies / I hit the studio, you know I left the track bodied / I do this shit right here for my, myself and nobody.”
Check out Logic’s “Live From The Country” now, and stay tuned for further updates on whatever project he might be cooking up.
