Royce Da 5’9″ Takes Aim At Lupe Fiasco On “Silence Of The Lambda”

Though Royce Da 5’9″ and Lupe Fiasco previously hosted a podcast together, it would appear that such arrangements are more volatile than once believed. The two elite lyricists have since found themselves embroiled in a heated back-and-forth over lyrical superiority, and last night, both emcees decided to take it to the booth.

Royce has since come through with “Silence Of The Lamba,” a lengthy six-minute salvo designed with a singular purpose: to assert undeniable dominance over his rival. Over a slow-burning, soulful instrumental from longtime Nickle beatmaker Carlos “Six July” Broady, Royce proceeds to put on an absolute clinic, delivering more hard-hitting bars in one song than some artists fit into a single album. While he doesn’t quite hit Lupe with the same ferocity he once gunned for D12 or Mistah Fab, Royce skillfully raises the stakes with enough sly jabs to leave a mark.

It’s admittedly surreal to reflect on how this feud has escalated, but it’s certainly refreshing to see emcees settling their differences through their craft. Fun though the occasional online back-and-forth can be, Royce and Lupe are a cut above when it comes to penmanship, and a swordfight between two masters will always prove more entertaining than even the wittiest heckler.

QUOTABLE LYRICS

We do this for Kanye, if you can relate that’s Drake
We come shooting for Conway, Ruger your face back straight
A hundred and seventy on the dash, all the felonies and the demonic acts
With devils like Vlad always selling me all the trauma back
I speak to cabarets as a deviation of drama
Pastors in wave caps as a recreation of honor
Glad to appreciate black abbreviations of genre
Battle me A$AP, that’s for PDA with Rihanna

Brooklyn Is Outside For Pop Smoke’s “Coupe” Music Video

The second posthumous album has arrived from Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke, and as Pusha-T suggested on the third track “Tell The Vision,” he can already see a platinum plaque starting to form in the clouds. One of the most commercially successful members of the Brooklyn drill community, Pop Smoke was well on his way to becoming a global superstar. The tragic end to his life marked one of the most depressing days in modern hip-hop history, but the rapper’s team has been emptying out his vault to share his greatness with the world. Every release has been bittersweet, but Faith has angered even some people within Pop’s close circle

The album is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 next week and Pop’s estate is doing everything to secure that pivotal starting point, releasing a deluxe edition on Wednesday morning and uploading the official music video for “Coupe” later that day.

The video was filmed primarily at a basketball court in Pop’s neighborhood, which was filled with people from his city, enjoying his music and remembering the young icon. Canarsie was outside for this shoot and it looks like they had a great time.

Lil Uzi Vert Is Allegedly Buying A Planet Larger Than Jupiter

Lil Uzi Vert is one of the most unpredictable characters in the rap world and this week, he proved that the air of mystery constantly surrounding him is a thing of permanence. According to a recent conversation between the Eternal Atake rapper and artist Grimes, Lil Uzi is allegedly very close to becoming the first human to legally own a planet.

A creative thinker and innovative mind, Lil Uzi just upped his game, allegedly completing the required documentation to purchase a planet. The rapper has a close relationship with Grimes, the girlfriend of Elon Musk, who claimed that Uzi is close to making the historic purchase.

“Apparently @LILUZIVERT owns this planet – just a heads up,” said Grimes on Twitter, responding to a picture of WASP-127b, a gas giant exoplanet larger than Jupiter.

“I tried 2 surprise everyone,” replied Uzi. “Still working on it.”

“Documentation almost complete for @LILUZIVERT to legally claim wasp-127b – this is huge! First human to legally own a planet,” wrote back Grimes.

Between this and the $24 million diamond that Lil Uzi allegedly bought to insert in the middle of his forehead earlier this year, nobody knows what could be next for the hip-hop superstar. We’ve known for a while that Uzi was out of this world, but we never could have predicted that he would buy an entire planet.

Let us know what you think of this. We’ll keep you posted with more information as this is confirmed.

Kanye West Will Reportedly Make A Surprise Appearance At Rolling Loud Miami This Weekend

In the world of Kanye West, things tend to go from 0 to 100 quickly. Last weekend, with no warning, there was a listening event for Donda, and now the album is set to come out tomorrow. Now, there are two major live events on the horizon: West is hosting a listening event at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium tonight, and it looks like he’ll be performing at Rolling Loud Miami this weekend.

Rumors of this performance have been circulating for a few days. On July 20, West’s longtime collaborator Consequence shared notepad drawings of a pyramid, seemingly in reference to West’s stage design, and noted that West will be performing at the festival on Sunday. Now, we have something closer to official confirmation of West’s appearance, as Billboard reports (citing “a source close to the situation”) that it’s happening.

Meanwhile, West shared what appears to be the tracklist for the album via an Instagram post last night, which shows song titles written on a whiteboard. As NME notes, there are some differences between this tracklist and the one West shared a year ago. While there are a number of songs that have stuck around, tracks like “Pure Souls” and “We Made It” are new to the album.
