Cardi B Reveals Offset Is Her Baby’s Father And Seeks Child Support Amid Divorce

It’s been a busy week for Cardi B and Offset, as it was recently revealed that the fan-favorite couple is going their separate ways. Reportedly, the femcee filed for divorce after seven years of marriage and is seeking primary custody of their two children. As if things weren’t already complicated enough, Cardi took to Instagram yesterday to announce that she’s pregnant amid rampant rumors. She showcased her baby bump in a few maternity photos, leaving social media users stunned.

Now, TMZ has obtained the divorce docs, which provide some interesting new details about the breakup. Reportedly, Cardi cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce and said she wanted property acquired during the marriage split up equitably. She’s also asking Offset to pay child support for all three of their children, confirming that he’s the father of her baby-to-be. There’s no mention of a prenup, though this doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t have one.

Cardi B & Offset’s Third Child Arrives Soon

Luckily, a source recently told TMZ that this won’t change the timeline of her upcoming album, despite previous concerns. She also recently announced a new collaboration with Marc Jacobs, indicating that she hasn’t slowed down in the slightest. As for Offset, he took to his Instagram Story yesterday to share a clip of himself vibing to music in the back of a car, looking unbothered by these major developments in his personal life.

Unfortunately, social media users weren’t convinced, and still look forward to hearing what each of them has to say about all of this. Red Bull Batalla, the world’s largest Spanish-language freestyle competition, announced full event details for the upcoming USA National Final taking place on Saturday, October 12th in Miami, FL at Factory Town. 16 of the top freestylers from across the country will take center stage for a highly anticipated event that will challenge their lyricism, speed, creativity and stage presence in head-to-head knockout rounds until only one MC remains.

The winner that clinches the title of 2024 National Champion will advance to the world’s largest stage for
freestyle rap at the Red Bull Batalla International Final hosted in Madrid, Spain this November. All the action will be judged by a panel of freestyle experts including Venezuelan legend and 6x Latin Grammy nominated artist, Akapellah, alongside 2x Red Bull Batalla National Champion Reverse, Snow QLQ, Dilema and more to be announced. The event will be hosted by Racso White Lion with beats by resident DJ Cesar.

The 2024 Red Bull Batalla season kicked-off with a global application phase that saw nearly 8,000 entries, followed by U.S. qualifier competitions in San Antonio and Brooklyn, the latter being Red Bull Batalla’s first-ever titled event in the Empire State.

All eyes now shift to Magic City and October 12th as the biggest night in the U.S. for freestyle battle rap. Florida has been a long-simmering hotbed of talent and the freestyle rap scene is now on fire. For the past three years, the Red Bull Batalla U.S. championship trophy has been won by a resident of the state with the groundbreaking wins of Oner and the reigning champ Reverse who, after his win last year, became a Red Bull Batalla U.S. double champion, a feat previously only held by Puerto Rican MC, Yartzi.

As it stands with the U.S. qualifier events behind us, only 11 of the 16 competitor slots are filled for the Miami National Final. Confirmed MCs thus far include last year’s National Final runner- up, Zazowan, Miami’s own Colombian firespitter Nico B, lyrical powerhouse and New York City regional champion AdonYS, Mexican veteran Jordi and more. Ensuring that the top MCs from every pocket of the country have a chance at the national title, to fill the remaining six slots, Red Bull Batalla in conjunction with local freestyle leagues, will host a series of regional cups in Los Angeles on 8/3 (La Liga De La Calle), Houston on 8/10 (Liga Masacure), Miami on 8/31 (Miami Freestyle League) and Chicago also on 8/31 (Midwest Freestyle & Lexico Battles) before a Ultimo Cupo battle on 9/14 in Atlanta to confirm the elusive last MC spot.

Did Kendrick Lamar Apologize For Dissing Big Sean?

Humans are complex creatures, and nothing demonstrates that more than hip-hop culture’s obsession with tension. From Cardi B and Nicki Minaj’s longstanding civil war of women in the game to Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s track-for-track showdown, beef pays well (in streaming revenue, notoriety, and more).

But not everyone wants to get caught up in an avoidable feud. Behind the scenes, it appears Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar were able to dodge a dust up (despite fans wanting the war of words).

Did Kendrick Lamar Apologize For Dissing Big Sean?

Today (August 2), Big Sean sat down with Charlamagne Tha God for his latest series, Out Of Context, to discuss his hot-and-cold working relationship with Kendrick Lamar. When addressing the unreleased version of the Compton native’s song “Element,” Sean revealed that Lamar privately apologized in a text message exchange for his the bars: “Big Sean keep sneak dissin’, I let it slide / I think his false confidence got him inspired / I can’t make them respect you, baby, it’s not my job / You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme, boy / Cute-ass raps, get your puberty up.”

Sean also opened up about where he believed the issue actually arose. “Joe Budden and made this, there’s a Kendrick and Big Sean beef,” he said. “To the point where I tried to ignore it. But he made that narrative so f*cking real that I think it really did become a thing.”

Pop culture collectibles company Super7 has teamed up with Madlib and the late MF DOOM‘s estate to release a new toy commemorating the 20th anniversary of the duo’s 2004 collaboration, Madvillainy, and it looks SO. FREAKING. COOL. The new 16-inch vinyl action figure is modeled after the Madvillain character from the album’s “ALL CAPS” video. It’s pretty poseable, with articulation at the neck, shoulders, waist, and ankles, and it’s accompanied by a merch capsule with art from the original “ALL CAPS” artist, James Reitano. The figure and capsule will be on sale from Monday, August 5 at 11 AM ET through Wednesday, August 7 at 11:59 PM ET at Gasdrawls.com. The capsule features new shirts, sweatshirts, caps, stickers, a skate deck and more. Check it out below.

Speaking of collectible Madvillain vinyl, while the 20th anniversary special edition vinyl is officially sold out, you can still get the album on vinyl and discover why it was so beloved at the time and since (there’s a reason we always use ALL CAPS when we spell the man’s name!). MF DOOM’s own Metalface Records has also reissued the rapper’s old group KMD’s controversial record Black Bastards.

Meanwhile, Super7 continues putting out classic hip-hop figures, such as these Outkast action figures, so check out more at their website.

Is Laila! Really Mos Def’s Daughter?

Over the past couple of months, if you were online at all, there’s a strong likelihood you heard “Not My Problem,” the catchy breakout single from New York rising star Laila! (yes, the punctuation is part of her name). If you did any research on the 18-year-old artist, you might have learned a surprising tidbit: Laila! was rumored for the past year to be the daughter of a hip-hop icon, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def of Black Star).

However, since she is such a new artist, it was hard to confirm this fact, as she’d done almost no interviews and only released a handful of well-received singles. So…

Is Laila! Really Mos Def’s Daughter?

As it turns out… yes! She confirmed her parentage in an interview with Complex‘s Jordan Rose. While the interview hasn’t been published yet as of this writing, Complex shared a clip on social media. While she said he didn’t give her any specific special sauce to help her on her way, he was supportive of her artistic journey. “I have just always been my own artist in a way,” she said. “That’s the cool thing, because I feel like as a kid, whenever we would just jam sesh and vibe out, me and him, I always had my own style. I always had my own thing going on. And he’s always just been like, ‘Okay kid, I see you.’”

An interview that was published was with established hip-hop media personality Angela Yee, in which she addressed her dad again. “They’ve always been so supportive of everything that I’ve wanted to do,” she said. “They never question what I want to do. My mom, my dad, you guys have always just been like, ‘Okay, that’s what she’s gonna do. That’s Laila!’ And I feel like that’s always made me feel like I can take on the world, or I can show the world who I am because I’ve always had that in my life.”

You can check out the full interview below.

Gunna Coaches Touted High School Hoopers In Music Video For “One Of Wun”

Gunna is giving his latest album One of Wun its fourth set of visuals, as he drops the music video for the title track this weekend. This is follows up on his Atlanta tribute piece for “back to the a”, which is now a month old. Other cuts from his fifth studio effort to receive such treatment include “whatsapp (wassam)” and the most successful collaboration “prada dem” featuring Offset. In the music video for “one of wun”, the most popular track on the record, Gunna commands each sideline on the basketball court. It appears to be a big-time matchup as well, especially just based on the talent that’s on display. According to Uproxx, almost all of the basketball players are sought after high school recruits.

Additionally, there are some Overtime Elite hoopers, a league ran by a sports media company of the same name. It’s helped some athletes reach the NBA level such as recent lottery pick Alex Sarr. If you are wondering who makes appearances in Gunna’s video these are your stars. They are Tyran Stokes, Brandon McCoy Jr., Parker Robinson, Jayden Wilkins, and Romelo Hill. The first two are the top two high school stars in the country, while the latter are all OTE players. Making this a clever video is the fact that it relates to this bar from Gunna, “Think all about how they want me to lose, but I’m W, due for a win“. He literally does take an L and a W at the same, which adds a smidge of comedy into the mix. You can check out the video with the link below.

Porsha Williams And Simon Guobadia Continue Their Divorce

“Given [Simon] has a net worth of well over $300 million, [Simon] clearly has the resources to continue to unnecessarily expand the instant divorce action and is currently using those resources to propound intrusive and harassing discovery requests that clearly violate the intent and spirit of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement, as well as this Court’s Amended Domestic Relations Standing Order,” court docs read.
