Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Rakes In $317K From Streaming In A Week

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us” continues to see major success, quickly becoming a fan favorite after dropping earlier this month. Arguably the most successful track of their entire lyrical battle, “Not Like Us” sees Kendrick accuse Drake of being a pedophile, coin his iconic “A minor” bar, and much more. Its significance in the viral beef has translated into streams and sales too. It broke multiple records in the weeks following its release.

“Not Like Us” debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in just five days of tracking. It also moved a million units in only 12 days. It was the fastest song to do so this year, coming in ahead of hits from the likes of megastars like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and more. Of course, this has left fans curious just how much cash Kendrick has been able to earn with the song.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss Continues To See Sucess

Reportedly, it generated roughly $280K in its first week and broke Drake’s record for most streams in 24 hours. The song continues to excel commercially, raking in $317K from streams alone this week, according to a new Tweet from DJ Akademiks. It’s now the second-highest-grossing song of the week. Aside from providing K-Dot with a sizable chunk of change, “Not Like Us” has also become synonymous with his explosive feud with Drake, something fans will associate with both of them for years to come.

The song has been co-signed by several of Kendrick’s high-profile peers too, including Billie Eilish, Isaiah Rashad, and more. It even inspired DaBaby to show off some of his own writing skills this week, as he delivered a praise-worthy freestyle over the track. What do you think of Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us” continuing to rake in earnings? What about it being the second-highest-grossing song this week? Are you surprised, or not? Diddy Accused Of Sexual Assault By Sixth Woman: Breaking Down The Latest Lawsuit

In the past two days, Sean “Diddy” Combs has faced a second sexual assault lawsuit, adding to a series of troubling allegations against him. The latest case, filed by April Lampros, accuses Combs of multiple instances of sexual assault spanning from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. Lampros claims that the abuse began when she was a student in New York City and continued during her internship at Arista Records. This lawsuit follows closely on the heels of another accusation, signaling a growing crisis for the music mogul. As these legal battles unfold, the details paint a disturbing picture of the experiences of these women.

April Lampros filed her lawsuit on Thursday at the Supreme Court of the State of New York, detailing “four terrifying sexual encounters” with Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to the documents, she met Combs in 1994 while attending the Fashion Institute of Technology. Lampros’ allegations include charges of battery, assault, sexual assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and gender-motivated violence. She asserts that the assaults have caused her ongoing harm, including severe emotional distress and physical injuries, for which she seeks monetary damages.

Internship At Arista Records

At the time of the alleged assaults, Lampros was an intern at Arista Records. The lawsuit claims that the company was negligent in allowing Combs to hold a position of authority, arguing that they failed to protect her and other potential victims from harm. Bad Boy Records, Arista Records, and Sony Entertainment are all listed as defendants in the lawsuit. The complaint states that these companies should have known about Combs’ propensity for violence and sexual misconduct. Representatives from these companies have been contacted by BBC News for comment but have yet to respond.

Secret Recording Allegations

In a particularly troubling claim, the lawsuit states that Combs recorded a video of him and Lampros having sex without her knowledge and consent. Lampros was reportedly informed about the video only a few years ago and learned that Combs had shown it to multiple people. This allegation adds another layer of violation to her claims, highlighting the pervasive nature of the alleged abuse.

Cassie’s Statement & Video

In a related development, singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, recently made her first public statement following the release of a video showing Combs attacking her in 2016. The video, which emerged last week via CNN, led Cassie to reflect on her own experiences of domestic violence at the hands of Combs. She described the impact of the abuse as life-altering, stating, “Domestic violence broke me down to someone I never thought I would become.” Cassie’s legal action against Combs last year also brought attention to his alleged pattern of abusive behavior. In response to the video, Combs issued an apology, expressing his disgust at his actions.

Earlier this week, another woman, model Crystal McKinney, accused Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting her in 2003. McKinney’s lawsuit claims that Combs invited her to his New York studio, where he provided her with alcohol and marijuana until she was intoxicated, then sexually assaulted her. This accusation is part of a broader pattern of allegations that have emerged against Combs in recent months. Last month, federal authorities raided Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a federal human trafficking investigation, indicating the severe and far-reaching nature of the legal issues he faces.

Ongoing Investigations & Public Response

The allegations against Combs have sparked significant public and media attention, raising questions about the music industry’s handling of such serious claims. While representatives for Combs have yet to comment on the latest lawsuit, the mounting accusations have undoubtedly tarnished his public image. As the legal proceedings continue, the testimonies of the women involved will play a crucial role in determining the outcomes of these cases. The industry and public alike are closely watching, with many calling for accountability and justice for the victims.

Vince Staples’ New Album Already Has Fans Calling It A Classic

Overnight, Vince Staples dropped his new album Dark Times. The project arrived just a few days after its original announcement and with only one single, the track “Shame On The Devil.” The album occasionally lives up to its name with the type of brutal self-reflection and serious lyrical subject matter that has defined much of Vince’s music throughout his career. The 13-track record runs just over 35 minutes, in line with the shorter projects he’s made a habit of releasing ever since 2018’s Big Fish Theory. Though the album has been out for less than 24 hours, it’s already landing incredibly positive reception from fans.

Social media is buzzing with fans reacting to Staples’ new album and much of the discussion is incredibly positive. One song in particular seems to be attracting a ton of early interest as the best of the bunch. “Etouffee” pops up around the mid-point of the record and seems to be a fan-favorite right out of the gate. It’s too early to see Spotify streaming numbers but multiple viral posts have already highlighted the song for its flows and storytelling. The entire album is receiving early praise from fans sharing their first reactions. Check out some of that praise below.

Lonzo Ball Shockingly Reveals That He Had A Meniscus Donated To Him

After being selected second overall in the 2017 draft, Lonzo Ball has struggled with injuries and has fallen short of expectations. The Chicago Bulls have suffered serious setbacks as a result of his absence. He suffered from a meniscus injury that occurred in January 2022. Ball recently was seen practicing his dunking, suggesting a possible return given his 70% health claim. For the previous two seasons, Lonzo Ball has been unable to play for the Chicago Bulls. He still wants to be involved in the team’s 2024–2025 ambitions, though.

Ball exercised his $21.4 million player option for the next year, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Chicago is still unsure about Ball’s ability to play despite the decision because his left knee has had three operations in the last two years. Following a ruptured meniscus in January 2022, he underwent a cartilage transplant treatment in March 2023 for his knee. On a recent podcast appearance, the eldest Ball brother revealed that he has a meniscus donated to him.

Lonzo Reveals Someone Donated A Meniscus To Him

Lonzo Ball revealed on his podcast appearance that he had gotten a meniscus donated. He went through his injury history, detailing the timeline and injury specifics. Ball says it started when he tore his meniscus when he was on the Lakers. he then said he tore it a couple more times to the point where all the cartridge was gone, and his knee was rubbing bone on bone. He said, “I had to get new meniscus from a donor, I had to get a bone allograft and I had to get some new cartilage put in as well.” Lonzo’s injury problems have been an NBA mystery. Now it seems like, hopefully, Lonzo and his medical team have finally found the problem and that it will allow him to return to the court.

Bulls president of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas said after the team’s season ended, “We’re just going to wait and see his progression the next couple of months.” He continued, “He’s progressing well. Everything is looking good with no setbacks. So we’ll see where he’s at in a couple of months.” Bulls fans will be static if Lonzo Ball is finally able to return to the court. When he was healthy, the Bulls were one of the best teams in the East. Overall, with the emergence of Coby White and vets like Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls will look to make moves next season. Nevertheless, there are not many cases where a player gets a meniscus replacement and returns to their former self.

7 Albums Apple Music Missed On Its 100 Best Albums List

Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list has successfully polarized the internet, and maybe that was the plan all along. The list does a fine job of highlighting many projects worthy of recognition. However, there are plenty of albums that were snubbed in the process, leading many to question the criteria behind their top 100 albums of all time. Firstly, R&B albums are barely on that list. Secondly, some albums were snubbed in favor of other less impactful works from the same artist. A primary example is Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city which was shockingly chosen in favor of To Pimp A Butterfly.

Finally, there are defining albums that shifted the stratosphere of music that Apple Music conveniently left out. Unsurprisingly, there are projects on that list that many believe are simply meant to pander to younger audiences. As a result, legendary bodies of work were pushed to the side. Too many important artists were sidelined, including the following seven, which will forever remain a shock.

7. Songs In A MinorAlicia Keys

While R&B was greatly excluded from Apple Music’s 100 Albums, the exclusion of this album still came as a shock. Songs In A Minor remains one of the most influential albums of the 2000s. Alicia Keys’ debut album set the stage for her illustrious music career. Infused with elements of neo-soul, Keys shines through the album. Ignoring the album that birthed the tracks “Fallin’” and “A Woman’s Worth” is certainly a bold decision.

6. Full MoonBrandy

Let’s get one thing straight: Apple Music would have been spoiled for choice with Brandy’s discography. However, they refused to include a single album from The Vocal Bible. The legacy of Full Moon cannot be denied and helped shape the future of R&B. This influential masterpiece of an album also definitely deserved a spot on Apple Music’s 100 Albums list, which begs the question of whether the platform has any respect for R&B at all.

5. Long Live The Kane – Big Daddy Kane

While Apple Music’s 100 Albums list is littered with Hip Hop projects, it’s hard to deny the obvious pandering to mainstream audiences. After all, several iconic, yet grossly underrated Hip Hop projects were overlooked. One of these is Long Live The Kane by Big Daddy Kane. Following this release in 1988, the golden age of Hip Hop would never be the same again. With a nasty flow, and armed with the wittiest lyricism and rhyming patterns, Big Daddy Kane’s debut album birthed an entire generation of rappers.

4. Whitney Houston – Whitney Houston

Perhaps one of the biggest shocks was the exclusion of The Voice. With a nickname like that, you should not be exempt from any list that celebrates music as a whole. Even today, Whitney Houston remains the gold standard for vocalists across the globe. While the record-smashing The Bodyguard soundtrack album is also a strong contender, her self-titled debut album was the masterpiece that unleashed the force of Whitney unto the world. Notably, it was also the foundation for the careers of many artists after her. Whitney Houston’s debut album influenced several mainstream acts of today, including Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Jennifer Hudson, and more. It really doesn’t make sense for it to be excluded from any other list highlighting the “best.”

3. Tha Carter III – Lil Wayne

Another defining and influential rapper left off Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list is Tunechi. Lil Wayne raised a generation of rappers, and his exclusion understandably resulted in backlash. After the success of Tha Carter II, all eyes were on Lil Wayne for Tha Carter III. Not only did he surpass expectations, Tha Carter III remains one of the best-selling rap albums of all time. A milestone album in his career, this project holds a place in the hearts of several millennials across the globe.

2. ButterflyMariah Carey

When you’ve been dubbed The Songbird Supreme, there should be no question of your validity as one of the world’s best. Mariah Carey, ironically, influenced most of the women on Apple Music’s Best 100 Albums list. That’s why her exclusion has left a sour taste in several mouths. Her Daydream album helped popularize Pop-Rap collaborations, and The Emancipation of Mimi is widely regarded as a comeback album for the ages. However, it was with Butterfly that Mariah fully immersed herself and her fans into a world of Hip Hop and R&B. A defining and impactful album of the 90s, this record served as a musician taking control of her art, and excelling at it.

1. All Eyez On Me2Pac

2Pac’s final album before his death remains a significant project in the overall sphere of music. The rapper was at his most confident, seamlessly detailing his contrasting life. Although a double-length album, there’s nothing overdone on this project, and it goes to show why 2Pac is widely considered by many to be the greatest of all time. To exclude All Eyez on Me from such a list is a huge mistake.

What Does ‘BBL Drizzy’ Mean? The Diss Inspired By Metro Boomin, Explained

What exactly does “BBL Drizzy” mean, and why is this song everywhere?

“BBL Drizzy” is the name of an instrumental beat created by St. Louis producer, Metro Boomin, as a response to Drake exhorting the beatmaker to “shut up and make some drums” on his Kendrick Lamar diss track, “Push Ups.”

That’s exactly what Metro did, crafting a beat from an interpolation of an AI-generated song. But you knew all that; what you really want to know is WHY. So, strap in, folks. We’re going for a RIDE.

First of all, we have to explain: What, or who, is “Drizzy?” I’m starting here because it’s the easiest part to explain. Drizzy is a nickname for Drake. If you don’t know who Drake is… I mean, come on. You know who Drake is.

Secondly, we have to contend with just what the heck “BBL” means. I’m sorry to be the one to inform you, but “BBL” stands for “Brazilian Butt Lift,” a cosmetic surgical procedure also known as lipoinjection or autologous fat transfer (fun fact, it was actually invented by a Venezuelan guy! Those dang Americans and their poor geography skills!). Basically, the surgeon sucks the fat from somewhere else on the body, e.g., the stomach, and injects it into the buttocks. It’s a popular procedure among so-called “IG baddies,” who would be “video vixens” in millennial-speak.

Okay, so, we now know what a BBL is, and who Drizzy is, but why “BBL Drizzy?” Well, because of long-circulating, unconfirmed rumors that Drake got liposuction done to give himself an enviable six-pack of abs. The reason that surgery is being turned into a completely different one is because, well, it’s funnier that way, and the whole point of the song is to make fun of Drake.

The original song was prompted by a comedian named King Willonius, who was inspired by a Rick Ross tweet in which the Miami rapper accused Drake of getting a BBL done. Udio, the app used to make the song, produced a vintage-sounding song that Metro then interpolated to make a beat, which he then offered up on social media for anyone to use for any purpose, which pretty much ensured its spread.

Meanwhile, Drake, in an effort to take back control of the narrative, has co-opted it by attaching it to the end of Sexyy Red’s Tay Keith-produced new single, “U My Everything.” You can see the thinking behind it; he’s proved adept at flipping the internet’s jokes in the past, but this time, he may be in over his head.
