Her voice, not just powerful but imbued with emotion, soon became her ticket to success. From her debut album Faith in 1995 to the mesmerizing collaborations with legends like Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston, Evans’ musical odyssey is filled with crescendos. Her first album, a blend of soul, R&B, and hip-hop, resonated with audiences and critics alike. It featured timeless tracks like “You Used to Love Me” and “Soon as I Get Home.”

But her 1997 collaboration with Puff Daddy and 112 on “I’ll Be Missing You” stands as a poignant tribute to her late husband, The Notorious B.I.G. It not only topped charts but cemented her place in musical history. The accolades kept pouring in, as Evans’ voice was a beloved feature on the R&B and soul landscape, exemplifying her ability to transcend genres and generations.

Their love story, though short-lived due to Biggie’s tragic death, left a profound impact on the world of music and Evans herself.

Her endeavors off the stage are equally intriguing. Whether gracing the screens as an actress or penning her autobiography, Keep the Faith: A Memoir, Evans’ life is a multifaceted exploration of talent and tenacity. The book, offering a raw and unfiltered look at her journey, is compelling for anyone interested in the woman behind the music.

[WATCH] Uncle Murda Says He Lied About Being Shot In The Head

Uncle Murda1

In a recent visit to ‘The Danza Project,’ podcast, G-Unit soldier and controversial rapper Uncle Murda reinforced the sentiment that “all tappers lie” and even included himself in that consensus.

The “Rap Up” emcee went on to tell a story about himself embellishing a story, saying, “I remember I lied about getting shot in the head. That was early on in my career — I lied about getting shot in the head because I wanted to like, ‘Aight, s***, maybe I could get this whole 2Pac/50 Cent wave going on right now, n****.’”

He went on to say that the song “Brooklyn” featuring Fabolous and Jay-Z gave him the notoriety to run with the story, adding, “‘Let me act like I got shot in the head for real, and then it’s going to be like, ‘Oh shit! Murda got shot in the head! The next day he back like ain’t shit happen.’’”

Los Angeles Clippers to Host 2026 NBA All-Star Game in New Arena

The NBA has announced the Los Angeles Clippers’ future home, the Intuit Dome, as the home for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed the game at the site, highlighting how impressive the future building is.

“I’ve seen pretty much every major arena in the world at this point, 32 years in the NBA,” Silver said. “And this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It starts with the fact that Steve Ballmer chose to build a basketball-centric arena … He wanted to build this arena to make basketball the centerpiece. On top of that, of course, he ran Microsoft. He’s one of the world’s great technologists, and he brought all that learning [to this arena]. He also is someone who, at this point in his life, had the time to personally imprint his vision on this building.”

The Clippers will leave Crypto.com Arena for the Intuit Dome beginning next season. The 2026 All-Star Weekend will be the 75th edition.

Today In Hip Hop History: A Tribe Called Quest Dropped Their Debut Album ‘The People’s Instinctive Travels And The Path To Rhythm’ LP 34 Years Ago

atribecalledquest

Ahead of its time to say the least, A Tribe Called Quest’s experimental, alternative, jazz rap was originally unappreciated by mainstream audiences. It took six years for the Tribe’s first album to hit gold. The album might not have been a huge commercial success at first, but their innovative and comedic sound beautifully balanced the light-hearted social consciousness of their tracks. Although “People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm” was critically acclaimed, some critics felt that the inspired lyricism and unique humor was at times overshadowed by the group’s immaturity and lack of focus. Their debut album did, however, generate buzz within the Alternative Hip Hop community that has gained them a devout cult following. Today “People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm” is certified gold, and in The Source Magazines’s 100 Best Rap Albums. Other accolades include a 5 mic rating from The Source, 4 stars out of 5 by The Rolling Stone Album Guide, and a 3.5 out of 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune.

Regardless of which generation you belong to, every true Hip Hop fan can remember the first time they heard “Can I kick It?” by saying “yes I can!”…and how it changed their perception of the genre. In honor of this special day in Hip Hop history we did some digging and found old school Source articles reviewing “People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm”, so feel free to take a look at the history.

Today In Hip Hop History: Paramount Pictures Released ‘Juice’ In Theaters 32 Years Ago

juice tupac movie wallpape

On this date in 1992, Paramount Pictures presented the highly anticipated hood flick Juice, which stars a still rising rap star by the name of Tupac Shakur, who plays a crooked crimie from Uptown by the name of “Bishop”.

His co-star, Omar Epps(Higher Learning, In Too Deep), plays a local DJ with industry potential named “GQ”, alongside Jermaine “Huggy” Hopkins(Lean On Me) and Khalil Kain, who all form a loosely knit crew of truants who are headed in the wrong direction.

This movie was very instrumental in bringing Hip Hop artists onto the silver screen, with cameo appearances from Treach of Naughty By Nature, Queen Latifah, EPMD’s DJ Scratch and Special Ed. Juice also helped to introduce the soundtrack as a way to market movies for larger budgets.

For those who never took notice, it wasn’t until after ‘Pac made everyone love to hate his character Bishop that Shakur’s run-ins with the law became more frequent and his “Thug Life” persona became more noticeable and for its own intent, purposeful. Many will say that it was life imitating art. Some will say that this was the real Tupac; he was just being filmed.
