J. Cole Explains “Everybody Dies” Diss, Fans Accuse Him Of “Condoning” Bad Rappers

In a recent interview on Lil Yatchy’s podcast, J. Cole explained what he really meant in his 2016 song “Everybody Dies”. The song was widely taken as a diss against younger rappers who had “Lil” in their stage name. “That wasn’t [just] the new generation,” he said. “That was everybody. My generation, that generation, the older generation. There’s a, ‘Will you take a break please?’ [line in there.] Like, ‘N-gga, how long you been doing that sh-t for?’ At that time it was that, but I understand how it was perceived that way and how that added to the narrative,” he explained.

Furthermore, Cole explained that he fully took back the diss after some self-reflection. “And my knee jerk reaction to that music [in 2016] was the same. I’m once again grateful because it’s the second time that happened in my life I had to have a conversation with myself like, ‘N-gga, you are hating! You not embracing. It’s the same thing you had to go through when you was a kid with snap music.’ [So I asked myself], ‘What is amazing about these dudes?’ and I switched my mindset,” he continued.

Fans Accuse Cole Of Condoning “Trash” Rappers

However, Cole’s explanation didn’t sit well with a number of fans. In their eyes, Cole’s comments “condoned” some of the less-talented rappers making it big in 2023. “I’m sorry, but we need to stop making excuses to condone the garage caliber of music that a lot of young artist get popular from. This is not a reflection of the generation or trending styles of embraced music, but simply because it has become easier to release music. These rappers care nothing about being musicians or artistic but rather getting attention. Stop condoning these gimmicks!!” one person noted on social media.

Another went after Cole for flip-flopping. “I like Jcole, but he’s forcing himself to like something he don’t. Just be real and stand on it.” Meanwhile, another critic was even blunter with their comments. “Cole folded now he f-ck with the mumble rappers he used to diss smh.” But what do you think? Is Cole simply being more open to music that might not be his taste on first listen? Or is he being too open and giving flowers to the undeserving? Let us know in the comments.

Big Boi Tries To Control Freaked Out Owl During College Concert: Watch

Big Boi suffered a bit of an embarrassing mishap last weekend during a post-game concert at Kennesaw State. The Atlanta rapper was performing after the Owls had taken down Lincoln University of Oakland and did so with the school’s mascot, Kenny the Owl, sitting on his arm. However, the bird immediately freaked out after Big Boi started performing and attempted to fly away. However, Kenny was tethered to Big Boi’s arm, leading the rapper to have to try and corral the bird as Kenny went berserk trying to escape. Eventually, Kenny’s handler arrived on the scene to alleviate Big Boi.

However, prior to the game, Big Boi had posted a video to his Instagram of him and Kenny chilling much more calmly. It’s likely that the bird didn’t like the sudden loud music and Big Boi’s attempts to dance to it during his concert. The Owls are back in action this weekend, taking on winless Sam Houston State. Hopefully Kenny will be a little more chill this time around.

Big Boi Shines As Guest Braves Broadcaster

It’s a shame that things went so awry with Kenny because it’s been a pretty great year for Big Boi-related sports antics. On May 25, at the start of a three-game series against the Phillies, the Braves hosted OutKast Night to celebrate the Atlanta rapper. This included giving away bobbleheads of the musician while also having Big Boi throw the first pitch. The night was designed to celebrate the vibrant musical culture of Atlanta. It was the only non-baseball giveaway that the Braves had on the schedule for the season.

After tossing out a decent first pitch, Big Boi spent the rest of the game as a delightful addition to the broadcast booth. He fitted in perfectly, adding some entertaining play-by-play commentary as the Braves took an 8-5 win. Some of Big Boi’s best moments came over the pitching of the Phillies’ Aaron Nola. “He put both the mustard and mayo on that one,” he said over a particularly nasty strike. Here’s hoping he becomes a regular fixture at Truist Park in the coming seasons.

Benny The Butcher Finally Releases Lead Single “Big Dog” With Lil Wayne And The Alchemist

It is finally that time. Benny The Butcher has just put out his enticing lead single from his forthcoming record, EVERYBODY CAN’T GO. After months upon months of teasing a song with Lil Wayne, it is now here and the wait was certainly worth it. The anticipation began around early July of this year when a short video of Benny in the studio made the rounds on Twitter from HipHopDX.

A quick few seconds of the song were played and then Butcher cut it off. “New Orleans to Buffalo,” was all we got to hear before the Buffalo rapper stepped in to say, “That’s all ya’ll need to hear, y’all heard what the man said. I said I need Lil Wayne, y’all heard what the man said. It’s on the way.”

J Cole Unveils The Meaning Behind “The Fall Off”

J Cole is a rapper who has a tremendous amount of respect from his peers. Overall, that respect is well-deserved. After all, he is one of the best rappers in the game right now. Moreover, he has delivered classic albums, mixtapes, and songs. Furthermore, he has been on a very nice feature run as of late. He was just on a track with Lil Yachty, and he even got to be on “First Person Shooter” with Drake. Simply put, Cole is a name that is not going away, even if you are one of the few who despise him.

In fact, soon, Cole will supposedly be releasing a new album called The Fall Off. In the eyes of many, this is a pretty ironic name given the fact that he hasn’t actually fallen off yet. Instead, one could say he is near the top of his game. He continues to deliver great music and has captured the attention of millions. However, as he told Yachty on the A Safe Place podcast, there is a good reason behind the name. It all has to do with a conversation he once had with himself.

J. Cole Explains Himself

Essentially, Cole started to find himself losing a bit of his edge. It led to him questioning himself and his hunger for succes. “Oh, you lost a step in this regard,” Cole reasoned with himself. “I had a real talk with myself… ‘You made it to where you wanted to make it to. Do you wanna keep going or do you just want to chill and go start a family? Do you want to retire right now?’” It seems like Cole has regained that step, although his album title serves as a reminder of how he once caught that slippage.

Hopefully, we get a timetable in regards to this album, sooner rather than later. Let us know what you think of this upcoming project name, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed.

Joel Embiid Claps Back After James Harden Claims Sixers “Kept Him On A Leash”

Joel Embiid disagrees with James Harden’s claim that the Sixers kept the veteran “on a leash”. “I don’t think so. I think he did a lot of great things for us. But in my opinion, we gave him the ball every single possession, because he’s really good. He’s an amazing player. Obviously, being that great of a passer, I think we gave him the ball … we’d give him the ball every single possession to just go out and, you know, do his thing. And from there he had to make decisions as far as getting guys open or looking out for himself. But I thought he did a pretty good job of getting us into an offense and just passing the ball, getting guys open. That’s the reason why he won the assist title last year,” Embiid said after the Sixers’ win against the Raptors.

Furthermore, Embiid’s comments come as a result of Harden’s fiery introductory press conference with the Clippers. Harden said the Sixers kept him “on a leash” and didn’t respect his knowledge of the game. “I think the game and I’m a creator on the court. So if I got a voice to where I can, ‘Hey, Coach, I see this. What you think about this?’ Somebody that trusts me, that believes in me, that understands me. I’m not a system player. I am a system. You know what I mean?” Harden told reporters.

Clippers Express Faith In Harden

Meanwhile, the Clippers have expressed full confidence in Harden being their missing piece. “James Harden should have been an All-Star last year. But he’s a 10-time All-Star. He has an elite skill set, and all he cares about is one thing. He wants to win a championship for the LA Clippers. And he wants to be part of something bigger than himself. He’s had all the individual awards. He’s about doing something really special,” said the team’s President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.

The Clippers gave up a lot to acquire Harden, sending a monster package of depth players and first-round picks to the Sixers. If he can learn the system in time, Harden is expected to debut for the team in a game against the Knicks at MSG this weekend. The Clippers are coming off an overtime loss to the Lakers. Harden was present on the bench but did not suit up. However, head coach Ty Lue did state after the game that he would have liked to have been able to use Harden. The Clippers continue to struggle with early-season injuries, hampering their now-depleted depth.

Victor Wembanyama Scores 38 As Spurs Stun Suns Again

Victor Wembanyama scored a career-high 38 points in the fifth game of his rookie season as the Spurs improved to 3-2 at the expense of the Suns. It was the second time this week that San Antonio has gotten the better of Phoenix. 10 of Wembanyama’s points came in the final 4:15 of the game, outscoring the entire Suns roster over that same period. Furthermore, the game marked Wembanyama’s second NBA double-double as he also notched 10 rebounds in the 132-121 win. Additionally, the French rookie knew exactly what to say when asked if he felt he was a clutch player. “It’s a requirement if we’re being ambitious,” he told reporters.

However, Wemby also showed some astute insight as he mulled the win. “Every game is different. We got our third win. Every game we try to find the spots that we need to hurt them. Today, it might have been in this way. Tomorrow, it will be someone else. That is how great teams work. If we want to be great, we need to play with everyone,” he explained. His performance comes in as the third-best performance by a rookie in history. David Robinson holds the top two spots, with 40 and 39-point performances in his 1990 rookie season.

Spurs Roll Onward

The Spurs were also 3-2 after five games to open last season. However, their journey to the #1 pick was set in motion after a 1-14 November. But things feel different this time around – they come off back-to-back to wins against a conference contender and have one of the most exciting rookies in league history. For many Spurs fans, the benchmark will be 56 wins. That was what the team achieved in the rookie seasons of their last two #1 picks – David Robinson and Tim Duncan.

Next up on the schedule is a trip to Toronto this weekend. After all, the Spurs welcome Indiana and the Knicks to San Antonio. However, Devin Booker is already forward to the Spurs-Suns rematch in March. “He’s an unbelievable talent. Just trying to figure out what he is because we have never seen him before. We got him early in the season, and hopefully next time that we play him we can make some adjustments to make it tougher on him. But he has an advantage being 7-4 and being able to shoot over everybody. Just finding different ways to make it tough on him,” Booker said.

Ne-Yo Teams Up With Fabolous For “Link Up” Remix

Today, three-time, Grammy award-winning hitmaker NE-YO unveiled a new remix to his single “Link Up (feat. Fabolous),” which is currently available to stream on all platforms HERE via Motown Records/Compound Entertainment.

NE-YO and Fabolous also dropped a fresh visual to accompany the remix, directed by Azzie Scott, view HERE. In the black-and-white visual, the duo adds their own flair to the rejuvenated sample of Michael Wycoff’s 1980s R&B hit “Looking Up To You” produced by Hitmaka, Cardiak and Wu10.

The remix showcases Fabolous’ signature wordplay paired with NE-YO’s smooth vocals in what marks the latest iteration of their longstanding string of collaborations. The creative partnership between these two titans dates back to “She Got Her Own” with Jamie Foxx and Fabolous’s “Make Me Better” [feat. NE-YO]—which rose to #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Over the years, the dynamic duo have also collaborated on “Crazy Love” from NE-YO’s Libra album and “Should Be You” from the R&B hitmaker’s R.E.D. album. The remix also comes after NE-YO originally dropped “Link Up” in late-September as he finalized his nationwide “Champagne and Roses Tour” with Mario and special guest Pleasure P.

Earlier this year, NE-YO shined on a wide array of stages, including a headlining performance at The White House’s 4th of July celebration on the South Lawn. He also delivered his iconic hits at Michael Rubin’s renowned, Hamptons white party that brought together the biggest titans in business, entertainment, sports and music.

“Link Up” marks his first release since his eighth studio album, Self Explanatory, which included collaborations with Yung Bleu, Jeremih and Trippie Redd. His collaboration with Jeremih on “U 2 Luv” topped Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart for three weeks.

In his career to date, NE-YO has a combined total of over 23 BILLION streams worldwide. He has won three GRAMMY awards and been honored with a total of 14 nominations. His first single, 2005’s “So Sick,” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified quadruple Platinum. Since then, he has racked up a collection of hit singles – including “Sexy Love,” “Closer,” “Because of You,” “Miss Independent” and “Push Back” featuring Bebe Rexha and Stefflon Don.
