Danny Brown Isn’t A Fan Of NY Drill: “All These N*ggas Sound Like ‘Batman Beyond’”

The Drill wave was established in Chicago, and despite being a global phenomenon, Danny Brown isn’t a fan. Drill has taken new heights in different cities, which tap into the sound but amend it to their own style. Brooklyn Drill has been the latest craze, and we’re seeing more artists emerge from New York City. As it continues to gain movement, Brown hopped on his podcast with JPEG Mafia and disparaged the subgenre.

“I got some funny sh*t for Rap I wanna say,” the rapper said on The Danny Brown Show. “What’s up with New York Drill music?” He was asked what he meant. “Why all these n*ggas sound like Batman? All these n*ggas rap like Batman Beyond. What the f*ck is wrong with y’all n*ggas man? That sh*t ain’t fire!” Obviously, it’s the deep voices that irked Brown. “N*gga you 16. Your balls ain’t even dropped yet. You ain’t even got a deep voice yet. These n*ggas rapping like villains.”

“I just wanted to say that, man,” Brown added after getting a few things off of his chest. “All you New York Drill n*ggas rapping like Batman Begins, that sh*t is over with. Pop Smoke, that was his natural voice, man, but all y’all 16.” He added, “Shout out to real New York rappers like MIKE, you know what I’m saying.” He isn’t the first to air out grievances with Drill.

While Brown’s take had much to do with the deep voices rappers use while performing, others have taken issue with the violence within Drill. Things became so concerning that certain New York City radio hosts refused to play Drill tracks that called out other artists. Recently, Remy Ma also delivered a hot take about the subgenre, stating that she feels as if much of Drill is overrated. She also noted that it’s difficult to understand and touched on the troubles regarding violence.

Is Drill The Next Hip Hop Target?

Additionally, politicians have also targeted Drill. Mayor Eric Adams has called for a ban on the music, but recently, he’s been spotted rubbing elbows with Hip Hop’s elite. Check out Danny Brown above.

Daniel Caesar Announces Release Date For Upcoming Album “Never Enough”

Earlier this month, Daniel Caesar announced his long-awaited third studio album, Never Enough. Having teased the project since its initial confirmation, Caesar finally took to Instagram today (February 28) to reveal the drop date. The post, which highlighted April 7th, 2023 as the day when Never Enough will be streamable, was accompanied by the caption, “ready?” Having been spotty with releases since his 2019 album, Case Study 01, fans of the 27-year-old immediately flooded his comment section in anticipation of this upcoming 15-track work.

As part of the promotion for Never Enough, Caesar gave fans a taste of what he’s been brewing up in the studio recently with the releases of Do You Like Me? and Let Me Go. The former dropped first on January 27th, and depicts what the singer describes as the “90 degrees of a love triangle.” He explained the inspiration for the soft ballad further on Instagram, writing “[it’s] a song about a woman I respect deeply.” His second teaser song, which dropped on February 10th, carries a slightly more upbeat tone while still maintaining Caesar’s vulnerable and romantic essence.

Caesar’s “Never Enough” Drops On April 7th

Just from the two-song preview, Never Enough seems to still boast Caesar’s distinguishable style, but with a continuation of experimentation and added flare. In a 2022 interview with HypeBeast, the Canadian reflected on the shifts in his musical influences and genre tastes. “I’m kind of dipping into all the other influences, all of the music that I listened to growing up,” he told the publication. “I’ve always tried to take all my influences and put them in a pot and stir them up and see what happens.” Ultimately, Caesar noted his distaste for being labeled.

As the release of his first studio project with Republic Records remains more than five weeks away, Caesar continues to promote Never Enough on his socials with the album’s royal blue branding. Excited fans have expressed their anticipation for the upcoming release in his comments section. In response to his initial question, one user answered, “u know damn well we are ready.” Be sure to keep up with HNHH for more news on the release of Never Enough.

Birdman Thinks CEOs Should Be Saluted During Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary

We hope you aren’t growing tired of hearing about Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary because Birdman is weighing in. We’ve continued to celebrate the culture in all forms regardless of the year, but 2023 is extra special. This year marks five decades of Rap, and artists from all generations are sharing their thoughts on Hip Hop’s history. Today (February 28), Birdman helped close out Black History Month by dropping off a few thoughts on Instagram.

The Louisiana icon isn’t one who spends much time on social media. Unlike his peers, appearances online are scarce, so when he does surface, fans immediately pay attention. At the Grammy Awards, the Hip Hop tribute was filled with artists who have contributed significantly to the culture. However, Birdman believes that this yearlong celebration also needs to include movers and shakers.

What About The CEOs?

Undoubtedly, it takes more than a talent to create a star. Labelheads, managers, A&Rs, publicists, assistants, producers, videographers, photographers, and more have aided in Hip Hop becoming the global influence that it is today. “Im confused about 50yrs of hip hop where they salute legendary artists which is well respeked,” Birdman wrote. “Also I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great showed them how to keep hip hop alive should be saluted in a major way.”

“I remember wen they said hip hop was dead and we Kept it alive,” he continued. “YMCMB 20plus summers respek our hussle CEO s kept hip hop alive frfr @cashmoneyofficial #RICHGANG #STUNNAMAN🐍💚🐊🦅🐐.” It looks like Birdman hopes the public will also recognize the power players behind the scenes who turn everyday talents into superstars. Young Money and Cash Money were the voice of an era. They carved out the careers of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and more.

Lil Wayne Is No. 1, According To Him

Weezy seemingly acknowledged his contributions to Hip Hop in a recent interview. He spoke on the Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list that captivated fans, but Wayne was placed 7th. The top spot was taken by Jay-Z, but Wayne told Zane Lowe that no one was higher than him.

“Harlem” Actress Jerrie Johnson Accuses Film Director Marc Cayce Of Sexual Assualt

After attending a movie premiere after party, actress Jerrie Johnson took to her Instagram earlier today (February 28) to share a disturbing encounter. She recounts being introduced to movie director Marc Cayce by a mutual friend. Following an unfriendly first meeting, Cayce allegedly disgraces Johnson’s gender identity and sexually assaults her. The actress, known for her work in Harlem, explained the situation while calling out the filmmaker for the interaction. “He whispered in my ear, ‘I don’t want to hurt your feelings brother,’” Johnson recalled, “and I said ‘My feelings don’t get hurt and why are you calling me brother, I’m not a brother,’ and this man proceeded to pinch my nipple.”

Johnson noted that Cayce had also nonconsensually “smacked” her friend’s butt earlier in the evening. In her post, the star included a screenshot of the 56-year-old’s profile alongside a google search of him. Cayce, who gained recognition for his first film, Nikita Blues, also is noted as a movie writer and producer. He has yet to address the claims Johnson has publically made against him.

Jerrie Johnson Calls Out Marc Cayce For “Disgusting” Experience

The 29-year-old actress concluded the post with a message: “Listen, I’m the wrong one. I don’t care about LA culture or industry culture or any of that- you should not be touching people inappropriately for ANY REASON.” Further, Johnson reflects that the interaction was “disgusting” and “inappropriate.”

Johnson, who identifies as a queer woman, recently reflected on her nonbinary identity, which she described to AutoStraddle. “This binary is so new and so American and so beneficial to the patriarchy and white supremacy, that I feel like it would be a disservice for me and my legacy for me to feed into any type of binary,” she described regarding her portrayal of Tye in Harlem, as well as her personal life. The actress goes on to explain the comedy show’s representation of diversity, noting the importance of “how we’re presenting people, how we’re writing things, how we’re casting things so that people can see people like me in more of a nuance across different mediums in the industry.” Season two of Harlem aired on Prime Video earlier this month. Woman Says G Herbo Is Her Child’s Father, Denies It After Going Viral

Those social media jokey-jokes make for a temporary laugh, but after a woman mentioned G Herbo, she found herself on the receiving end of backlash. Entertainers often face off against fake news. Daily, some of our favorite stars’ names are mixed up in controversies they aren’t even aware of. Strangers take to the internet or call outlets to share their stories, and the tales take over for a moment.

Earlier today (February 28), Herbo’s name circulated after a woman named Iysis Kior claimed he was the father of her child. “Herbert Randall Wright III !! The fact that he refuses to acknowledge my baby publicly really bothers me. He blocked me on everything, and this is exactly why this post being made,” wrote Kior alongside images of the rapper and a young child.

Woman Admits To Lying About G Herbo

Kior emphasized her point. “ANIT NO MORE KEEPING SECRETS [peace sign emoji],” she added. She even mentioned Herbo’s children with Ariana Fletcher and Taina Williams. “He named my baby after Essex &’ Yosohn… E’SOHN RAMIR WRIGHT.” The post didn’t take long to circulate, and soon, strangers weighed in. Some said that the child even looked like Herbo, but once the news reached the blogs, Kior changed her tune.

“Y’all just over did it !!!!” she said after going viral. “It was a whole ass joke [crying laughing emoji][deep breath emoji] y’all took it waaaay too far; Bye [peace sign emoji].” The explanation wasn’t enough for Herbo’s fans, who called her out for inciting drama. This might have been a passing quip for Kior, but it sparked a greater conversation about lawsuits.

Swimming In Controversies

While a random woman reporting a secret child may seem like nothing, G Herbo has been riddled with controversies. He has faced allegations of infidelities, and the public has often created chaos as they speculate about his personal life. Some have suggested that artists should sue people who lie and admit to it. No word on how Herbo feels about this.

Shakira Says There’s A “Place In Hell” For Ex Gerard Pique’s New Girlfriend: Report

It’s been a rough year for Shakira. Not only does she face tax evasion charges in Spain but she also went through a pretty nasty break-up. Last year, she and Gerard Piqué called it quits after 11 years together. The singer began dating the football player in 2011 following his appearance in the “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” music video, and later, they welcomed a child together. While they were listed among the world’s most powerful couple, things eventually went left.

The couple later shared a statement after news emerged of their split. “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement read. Though the details surrounding their split remained unclear, she confirmed there was infidelity in the relationship. In fact, Shakira revealed that she knew he was cheating due to a used jam jar. Then, Shakira addressed the matter in her single, “BZRP Music Session #53” along with Bizarrap.

Shakira Disses Ex’s New Girlfriend

During a recent interview, Shakira didn’t hold back on her thoughts surrounding women who aren’t supportive of other women. Many felt as though she was taking aim at Piqué’s new girlfriend. She explained that she doesn’t need to depend on a man after feeling as though “a woman needed a man to be complete.” “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women,” Shakira said during her interview with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas.

The breakup was clearly an eye-opening experience for Shakira. She felt as though she depended on her partners in the past on an emotional level, though she said that she discovered a new side of herself. “I’ve always been emotionally quite dependent on men I’ve fallen in love with love and I think I’ve been able to understand that story from another perspective, and today I am sufficient on my own,” she said. Shakira said that her main focus is to take care of and protect her two sons, 10-year-old Milan and 8-year-old Sasha, who she shared with her ex.
