Malcolm X’s Family Hits NYPD With $100 Million Lawsuit

The family of Malcolm X is suing the NYPD, the state of New York, and federal agencies for $100 million. They allege that the government concealed evidence in the murder of the activist. The news comes 58 years after the killing of Malcolm X. His daughters Qubilah Shabazz, 62, and Ilyasah Shabazz, 60, provided formal notice of the lawsuit alongside attorney Ben Crump on Tuesday. They made the announcement at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center located in NYC. Previously named the Audubon Ballroom, it is the location where Malcolm X was murdered.

The lawsuit comes after a $36 million settlement was reached in 2021. The decision was made following the wrongful conviction of Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam. Judge Ellen Biben said at the time: ”I regret that this court cannot undo the serious miscarriage of justice. There can be no question that this is a case that cries out for fundamental justice.”

Malcolm X At A Rally

Nation of Islam leader Malcolm X draws various reactions from the audience as he restates his theme of complete separation of whites and African Americans. The rally outdrew a Mississippi-Alabama Southern Relief Committee civil rights event six blocks away 10 to 1.

At Tuesday’s announcement, Ben Crump cited the settlement when explaining the decision for the family’s lawsuit. “The rhetorical question is this: if the government compensated the two gentlemen that were wrongfully convicted for the assassination of Malcolm X with tens of millions of dollars, then what is to be the compensation for the daughters who suffered the most from the assassination of Malcolm X?” He added: “We intend to have vigorous litigation of this matter, to have discovery to be able to take depositions of the individuals who are still alive, 58 years later, to make sure that some measure of justice can be given to Malcolm X’s daughters. The truth of what happened and who was involved has always been critical.”

Malcolm X was shot 21 times while preparing to speak at the Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965. He was set to address a large audience for a gathering of the Organization of Afro-American Unity. He founded the group one year earlier.

Cardi B Speaks Up For Viral Black Performers Amid Backlash

Cardi B is no stranger to speaking her mind in support of others, despite not always having the popular opinion. The entertainer quickly jumped on Instagram Live last night (Feb. 21) to discuss the backlash two Black men are receiving online for their viral videos. In short, popular TikTokers “The Dancing Gorilla” and “Chicken Boy” are receiving widespread hate for their outlandish performances in mostly White spaces. A petition to ban “Dancing Gorilla” Big Groove has already made its rounds as he gyrates his way onto our Explore pages.

“I seen a lot of people compare their content to […] Blackface or how people used to act for White people’s entertainment,” says Cardi. Although she admits “their content is very cringy,” the megastar is upset petitioners are trying to block their main sources of income overall. “They’re not cursing in their content, they’re not promoting all this gang violence. They’re not being bums-they’re actually getting paid by these restaurants to do it,” she adds. Furthermore, she compares their virality to that of Jake Paul’s, as she wonders why he hasn’t received the same treatment as his cohorts.

Cardi B Questions “Crab In A Barrel” Mentality

Cardi B continues to badger critics, calling them “crabs in a barrel” at one point. ”If you think that it’s lame as fu*k to dance and crunk around in a restaurant… Guess what?” she questions. “There [are] White content creators that are drinking soda out of $10,000 pairs of shoes.” Big Groove—real name Clive Ibizugbe—has gained over 690k followers on his TikTok page since making waves for his stature and dance moves in popular eateries. “Chicken Boy,” known as YuddyGangTV on his socials, has surpassed him with over 6 million. YuddyGang’s claim to fame has been his over-the-top responses when eating unhealthy foods with mounds of sauce. Both men have been accused of performing minstrelsy, an act where those donning Blackface would act as people of African descent.

In conclusion, the diva wants the same energy reciprocated towards their White counterparts who’ve gone to make millions. This is just one of the many instances Cardi B has responded to in recent weeks. Prior to this, the rapper hopped on Twitter to defend herself and husband Offset. The former Migos member was mentioned in a J. Prince video where the Texas music exec spoke on Offset’s relationship with the late Takeoff.

Ye & Bianca Censori Appear Tense During Rare L.A. Outing

Unlike Kim Kardashian, Kanye West appears to be keeping his marriage with Bianca Censori under wraps. The couple quietly tied the knot earlier this year while paparazzi have spotted them out and about on a few occasions. However, it hasn’t been like Ye and Bianca have been on the red carpet circuit heavily, flaunting their romance. The couple has been quite reserved recently, which is undoubtedly a change of pace for the “Runaway” creator who continues to face backlash for anti-semitic remarks he made in 2022.

Despite the relatively private nature of their relationship thus far, they have popped out on a few occasions. For Valentine’s Day, the couple was spotted with Russell Simmons, who Ye previously put on blast for suggesting that he visit a Holocaust museum. Prior to that, Ye took out his wife and his firstborn daughter, North, to a restaurant. However, neither of them have made any public remarks regarding their relationship.

Ye and Bianca’s Gas Station Pit Stop Appears Tense

The Daily Mail caught a rare glimpse of Ye and Bianca at a gas station this week but things appeared to be tense. The coupled popped into the store where they picked up a few drinks before filling up their tank. However, it appears that there was some tension between them as they were talking. While Censori grabbed the gas nozzle, she looked tense as she talked to her husband. It’s unclear what she may have been tense about but perhaps, it was the paparazzi following them during mundane tasks.

Ye recently popped into the L.A. County Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station to report harassment from the paparazzi last week. It’s an interesting change of pace for a man who previously got into physical altercation with the media in the past. Apparently, Ye informed the paps to leave him and his family alone but things began to escalate when they refused. However, Kanye didn’t allow it to get physical. Just a month prior, Ye got into an altercation with a woman filming him. After she refused to stop filming him, he grabbed her phone and tossed it into the street.

Young Thug’s Co-Defendant Seeks Mistrial

The lengthy YSL Rico case has a new twist, with one of Young Thug’s co-defendants demanding a mistrial. Jayden Myrick, who faces charges of murder amongst others, is seeking a mistrial on the account of leaked videos. According to HipHopDX, Myrick’s attorney filed the motion on Tuesday (February 21st), on the violation of the defendant’s Sixth Amendment right to a fair and impartial jury. Allegedly, discovery materials circulated online despite a signed order that prohibited the sharing of such content.

Although the cited video was not specified, a 2021 interrogation of Kenneth “Lil Woody” Copeland has recently been revealed. In the three-and-a-half-hour footage, Lil Woody discusses information about Young Thung with investigators. “While said evidence may not directly implicate my client,” Myrick’s attorney wrote, “it along with all of the publicity and courtroom incidents since the start of this trial that have not been the result of any conduct of my client, Jayden Myrick, make it impossible for him to receive a fair trial, as well as a jury that is honestly and truly fair and impartial.”

Young Thug’s Dramatic Trial Continues

The ongoing YSL Rico trial has yielded a dramatic trial, with several of the 14 defendants accepting plea deals. During the course of the case, additional charges and mishaps have emerged, the outlet reports. In one instance, Young Thug was allegedly handed a Percocet pill by co-defendant Kahlieff Adams. The exchange was caught on camera, resulting in Adams being tased. Additionally, other defendants have been causing trouble behind bars, with one stabbing another inmate, and another spitting on a deputy.

This high-publicity case has sparked other hip hop names to chime in, even inspiring Boosie Badazz to consider a movie. Although the trial commenced in January (despite a motion to delay), it’s expected to last for six to nine months. The defendants are all on trial for their relations to YSL Rico, a “criminal street gang” responsible for numerous violent crimes in Atlanta over the past eight years. Young Thug is accused as the leader of the gang. To keep up with this ongoing trial, be sure to check back on HNHH.

“UNC To Chicago” is an aesthetic we have seen in the past. Overall, this is meant to be a nice homage to the fact that Michael Jordan went from UNC to the Chicago Bulls. With this colorway, you can certainly see how both teams intersect. Firstly, the sneaker is covered in white leather. This white extends to the laces, midsole, and also the tongue. Secondly, there is a red line on the sides that brings in the Bulls colors. Lastly, the back heel is powder blue which is a reference to the University of North Carolina.

All-in-all, this is a very clean colorway that speaks to the history of Jordan Brand. Ultimately, we’re sure there are a lot of people out there who are going to love these. As for the release date, these are set to come out on March 8th for a price of $160 USD. Let us know what you think, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more updates from the sneaker world.

SOURCE SPORTS: Famed Broadcaster Gus Johnson Talks His ‘Back to School with Gus Johnson’ Doc and Empowering the Next Generation through Education

FOX Sports Films has announced the release of its new documentary BACK TO SCHOOL WITH GUS JOHNSON, a powerful one-hour special celebrating our very own Gus Johnson

Gus Johnson has long been a staple of college sports. The 55-year-old broadcast icon can be heard every fall Saturday calling the marquee matchups of the college football slate for Fox. This past year, while clueing fans in on what was happening on the gridiron, Johnson took on another grind, going back to school.

Gus Johnson enrolled at Harvard University for a year-long prestigious fellowship program, the Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI), continuing the legacy of his parents who preached sports and education, fulfilling his own desire to learn and grow, and also empowering the generation to come in understanding their potential has no limits.

“I was nervous about letting people into my life, but I thought if I could show kids through my journey that education is cool, it was worth it,” said Johnson in a statement. “I think this is a really good story and hope that it inspires. I also hope fans enjoy watching some fantastic folks at a great school, and get new insights into sports as well as the pursuit of lifelong learning.”

The entire journey is chronicled in Back to School with Gus Johnson, a documentary that highlights Gus Johnson’s childhood in Detroit, the growth of his broadcasting career, and his recent return to academia at Harvard to uncover the man behind the microphone.

Speaking with The Source, Gus Johnson reflects on the journey to Harvard and speaks about his bond with his parents and how it impacts him today, empowering the youth and more. You can learn more about Gus Johnson here.

The SOURCE: You’re not a stranger to the camera, but for the documentary style, you probably have more cameras around you than you’re used to. How was it adjusting to telling your story and having that camera presence always around you?

Gus Johnson: It was kind of weird. Almost like Real Housewives of Atlanta [laughs]. The camera is there but after a while, you don’t really notice it because you have an objective to tell the story. I had a great producer, a man by the name of Chris Weber, not a basketball player. He walked me through and guided me through a lot of this and gave me inspiration and terrific direction. But it was kind of weird having cameras so close to you filming the things that you say and your actions and seeing your motivations. I’m from Detroit, man. We were very private people. And to let everybody, as my mama would say, in my business, was interesting, to say the least.

There’s this balance between sportscaster and student and I know there’s a level of studying that goes into both. How were you able to balance and bounce between those areas?

Well, I played college baseball, so I was used to being a student-athlete. It wasn’t hard because it was something I looked forward to. I would get my assignments and I would run with it. I would see that Harvard logo on the corner of my readings, and I just said, man, look at this. I can’t believe this is my life. I can’t believe that I’m getting educated up here. I mean, Howard is one thing, incredible, but at this stage in my life, to be able to still learn and have a chance to learn at a place like this. A legendary place, symbolic, Harvard. um mm-hmm. I was just proud. I was proud of having a chance to go there and do those studies. I thought about my mother and how she would’ve been so proud, and she would’ve said, ‘of course, that’s for you. Of course, you’re there. Of course, you earned the right to study there, so get the most out of it.’ And in terms of sportscasting, I mean, man, I’ve been doing this for 30 years. I know how to do this. I would work during the week a little bit between my studies at Harvard, watching films and looking up the guys, reading some articles, and then on Thursday, when I got on the plane, it was full on a sportscaster. It was exciting to go to class Monday through Wednesday, then call a game on Saturday. It was like I was a student-athlete again.

I got a chuckle out of you because I could see the excitement. You finished calling Michigan and Ohio State and said, now I gotta go write a paper. But it wasn’t like a chore. It was excitement., and I’m not trying to age you at all, but know I can examine it my age returning to school. So how did you know that this program at Harvard was one that specifically was going to stimulate your mind?

I was scared. I was nervous, man. I mean, it’s Harvard. But once I got in there, man, they wrapped their arms around you. That’s one thing I can say. The students at Harvard get so much support from the faculty and the administrators there. They want you to do well. They want you to win, and they give you support. I saved all my papers, so I have ’em on my computer and I look forward to one day down the road going back and reading them to see where I was at that time, what I was thinking, and what I was learning.

You mentioned a phrase for your mom of people being all up in your business and you pulled back the curtains a lot. You mentioned how your parents always pushed youth sports and education. How does it feel to still be an embodiment of both of those visions?

You know, I was so blessed to have great parents. We didn’t have a whole lot, but we did have a lot of love and the sacrifices that my mother and my father made for me, their only child. When I think about it, man, this is like the unselfishness of my two parents, who didn’t reap any rewards or benefits. They did it because they thought that’s what you’re supposed to do. My fam, both my parents come from the south. Mississippi, my mama, and Kentucky, my daddy, and they grew up during the time it was hard for black people with segregation in the South, Jim Crow, all those things. And they just wanted to give me a chance. As my daddy would always say, son, the number one universal law is self-preservation. You gotta figure out how to survive. And they gave me the tools for survival in this world, which is not a fair world for black people. That’s why I want to help those kids.

I always say my dad was the head coach and defensive coordinator. My mom was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. Dad taught me how to not get in trouble. Mommy taught me how to go out and make some stuff happen by being curious and interested in the world and involving myself. I played ice hockey. Her kid plays ice hockey growing up in Detroit. That’s black, not very many did that. And rhetorical contests, very active in my church. And now, as a 55-year-old man, I look back on it and I just say, wow, thank you.

Seeing you with those children was powerful. Especially bringing them the backpacks with the Harvard branding and the Harvard utensils, and letting a thought into their mind that they can do anything within their educational features. How did it feel seeing those students embrace those Harvard letters and putting into that ambition they already have what’s needed to enhance their futures?

Man, I don’t know about you, but that scene, that whole day, being in my hometown and seeing all those beautiful faces, young faces looking up at you with hope and with dreams and aspirations, looking for guidance. And I, I know that project wasn’t a big project, but I think it was important just to instill that kind of thought into their minds that nothing is impossible. You think of Harvard, you think impossible for most of us, you know, mere mortals. But for those kids, 85 of them, I bet you one of ’em goes to Harvard, and if not Harvard, then Howard, Morehouse, Spelman, Michigan, Ohio State, Yale, Princeton, USC, Penn State. Education is the transference of knowledge. And in order to win the game, man, you have to understand the game. And that’s what I was trying to help them do. Understand that all the stuff that your teachers are teaching, that you’re learning, it pays off. So that was one of the great moments of my life, man. Seeing those kids do what they do, how happy they were, how beautiful they looked in that Crimson man. Harvard, I gotta give ’em a lot of love, man. They don’t do that kind of stuff. They don’t really let you use their brand. And they understood what was going on, and they agreed with it.

Iggy Azalea Is Having No Problem Rolling In The Dough On OnlyFans: ‘I’m Making So Much Money’

Iggy Azalea recently appeared on model Emily Ratajkowski’s High Low With EmRata podcast, where she dished on just how her OnlyFans hustle was working out.

As she earns money from people paying subscriptions on the platform, Azalea says she’s made “so much” from it. She joined the site last month and launched a “Hotter Than Hell” project that includes “photographs, visual art collabs, videos, merch, and all kinds of aesthetically pleasing, hot as hell things,” as she previously noted on social media.

“I’m making so much money that I won’t even say how much it is,” Azalea said on the podcast.

Her profile currently charges $25 for a standard monthly subscription. She also offers bundles for 3 months at $71.25, 6 months at $135, and a full year for $225. However, the site doesn’t publicly indicate how many people are subscribed and for what amount.

During their conversation, Ratajkowski also asked Azalea about nudity on OnlyFans. “I don’t show vagina, but there is boobs and there is butt and I am naked,” the Australian musician added.

“It was scary when I sat on OnlyFans,” Azalea noted. “I’m someone who shows my breasts or my nudity, I don’t really have a problem with being overtly sexual when I’m in control of it and when I feel it has artistic merit.”

Air Jordan 3 “White Cement Reimagined” Officially Unveiled

Overall, you can never go wrong with the Air Jordan 3. For those who may not know, this is the shoe that ultimately helped keep Michael Jordan with Nike. At the time, MJ wanted to leave Nike. However, Tinker Hatfield swooped in and designed an incredible shoe. Jordan was so impressed that he decided to stay with Nike. Moreover, he enlisted Hatfield to make all of his Jordans, all the way up until the Air Jordan 15. Needless to say, Hatfield is a legend of the sneaker world.

There are multiple reasons why this shoe is so unique. For instance, this is the first Jordan to have a visible Air Max unit in the midsole. Furthermore, this sneaker included elephant print on the toe box and the back heel. This was pretty unique at the time, and fans ended up loving the aesthetic. Over the years, this shoe has been blessed with a ton of amazing color schemes. However, there is no doubt that fans gravitate to the classics, like the “White Cement” offering.

Interestingly enough, the “White Cement” is returning this year as part of Jumpman’s “Reimagined” series. Now, the infamous Air Jordan 3 is back, and fans could not be any happier. Firstly, this shoe starts off with that iconic white leather upper. Secondly, we get a grey elephant print which contrasts well with the red Jumpman logo on the tongue. The “Reimagined” portion of the shoe is the midsole, which has a yellow-aged look to it. Lastly, the back heel has the Nike Air logo on it which is definitely what the OG sneakerheads are looking for.

At this point, the shoe has been confirmed for a March 11th release date. It is also important to note that the shoe will cost $210 USD at retail. Pairs will be available over at GOAT and Flight Club in a large array of sizes. As always, let us know what you think of these, down in the comments section below. Drake Gets An Owl Braided Into His Hair

Drake showed off a new hairstyle on social media, this week, featuring an owl braided into his hair. An owl is also famously the logo for Drake’s OVO brand. It’s not the first time that Drake has gotten creative with his hairstyle. The Certified Lover Boy rapper previously had a heart shape shaved into the front of his head.

Response from fans to the new look was mostly positive. “One thing about Aubrey, that wig NEVA took a day off!” one user commented. Another wrote: “The girl who do his hair is [fire emoji] she so good with the braids on anybody hair.” One fan claimed that Drake is attempting to look like A$AP Rocky out of jealousy over Rihanna. “Anything to look like ASAP Rocky. Just cut it Aubrey baby she’s pregnant again,” they wrote.

As for music, Drake is gearing up for a tour with his Her Loss partner, 21 Savage. The two are planning to hit the road together later this year. Drake made the announcement during one of his shows at the Apollo Theater in New York City. “I was telling them earlier but.. ff you guys enjoy that experience, feel free to come see and my brother this Summer,” he said earlier this year.

At the same show, Drake also teased that he’s considering releasing another album at some point this year as well. “I appreciate all of those people that stick by me.… but I deeply appreciate everybody for continuing to support us,” he said. “I’ve thought about a bunch of things in life, but at this moment in time none of those things are stopping making music for you, so I’ll be here for you for a little bit at least. And I hope I can strike up more emotions for you, maybe this year. I might get bored and make another one, who knows!” Check out Drake’s owl braids on Instagram below.
