Consequence Answers If He Would Join Joe Budden On “Verzuz”: “Against ‘Pump It Up’?!”

Noreaga was stirring the pot just a little during Consequence’s appearance on Drink Champs, and judging by his laughter, he was amused by his friend’s response. Consequence has been an icon in the Rap game, working with and for artists like Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Kid Cudi, Beyoncé, Talib Kweli, Royce Da 5’9″, John Legend, Papoose, and more, so it was only fitting that Cons caught up with Drink Champs to detail his career’s highs and lows.

During the lengthy conversation, Joe Budden was mentioned, and Cons’s history with the podcast giant is a sordid one. Many years ago, things even turned physical during a Love & Hip Hop reunion, but Cons explained that he “was never upset with Pump It Up.”

Noreaga couldn’t stop laughing at Cons calling Budden by his classic hit.

“I just felt Pump It Up came out as fake, so, moving forward, I don’t want to hear nothing else about Pump It Up,” said Cons. He then mentioned his new single “Blood Stain,” along with his other releases, adding, “I can’t argue about Pump It Up. I’m just sayin’, I can’t! Bro, I can’t argue about Pump It Up! I just won a Grammy, I’m gonna argue about Pump It Up? You told me I was a legend! I’m gonna argue about Pump It Up?”

Nore chimed in to ask if Cons would do a Verzuz against Budden. The look on Cons’s face said it all. “Against Pump It Up?!… Would I do Verzuz against Pump It Up?!” Check out the clip below.

A release date has yet to be shared, but a new DJ Khaled album is on the way. At the top of the month, the hitmaking producer announced that his next project, God Did, would be arriving “soon.” The record will be a follow-up to his 2021 release Khaled Khaled, which arrived a year after Father of Asahd. It’s clear that Khaled has no intention of slowing down.

Kodak Black Calls Recent Arrest “Character Assassination” & “Racial Profiling”

Yet another Rolling Loud Miami is in the books and it looked to be a successful weekend. The Hip Hop festival descended on Florida for its annual event, and thousands of fans came out to see their favorite artists. Kendrick Lamar had an epic performance and even brought out Kodak Black who has been enduring a bit of legal trouble in recent weeks following his arrest. According to reports, Kodak was pulled over for having his windows tinted too dark, and as his legal team fights the authorities’ allegations, Kodak took to Twitter to express his disgust with the entire ordeal.

“This Sh*t bogus Af I feel like This a character assassination issue Kuz theirs no way I should be getting harassed bout my tag being expired,” he wrote.

“That’s no reason to even search my car in the first place and going to jail about having my medication in the car is insane,” he said, referencing the Oxycodone pills that police reportedly found on him. “Ima Sue these people for every dollar I gotta spend bout this sh*t !”

The charitable rapper wants to be known for giving back to those in need, not for legal drama or allegations of drug abuse.

“I’m being racially profiled and as a black man in America,” Kodak continued. “I deserve my freedom especially with everything I do for my community I should be getting love , respect and support from the authorities ! To move freely , not getting arrested for expired tag and dark windows.”

The rapper has been met with comments from people mentioning Donald Trump, as the former president pardoned Kodak and got him released from prison. It was reported that Kodak was ordered to undergo drug testing and house arrest following his recent run-in with the law. Check out Kodak’s tweets below.

The-Dream Remembers Humble Beginnings Before Landing Britney Spears Hit in 2003

With decades of hits under his belt, The-Dream has been reflecting on the moments that went into crafting some of our favorite hits. In his recent interview on Deep Hidden Meaning Radio with Nile Rodgers, Dream has been sharing behind-the-scenes moments that led up to him shaping the successful career he has today, including landing a big break writing for Britney spears back in the early 2000s. Dream talked about his humble beginnings working with other writers and producers, and he recalled when he learned that he would be a co-writer on Britney Spears’s “Me Against the Music.”

The 2003 single was included on Spears’s fourth studio album In The Zone and would go on to peak in the No. 1 spot on charts across the globe. “[‘Me Against the Music’] was one of my first major songs where it’s like, this unbelievable moment that happened in my life,” said Dream.

“It’s so funny, me and Tricky Stewart, who’s the producer on that particular track at the time, we weren’t consistently working together, and it just so happens that him and a team that he had, and writers that predated me, were working on that particular project with Britney,” he continued. “It was a relationship he had with Jive at the time. So, the story is, literally Trick never asked me to write anything on this track. I literally went into his studio. At the time I was signed to Laney Stewart, which is his brother, and I went into his studio, I downloaded the track, took it over to the other studio, recorded my parts on it, and then put it back into the session.”

“He has this record and it has a couple things on it. I literally went from top to bottom and just stuck it there, put it in the Britney Spears folder, and just kept it moving and didn’t say anything about it.” However, someone did notice The-Dream’s additions to the song.

“I get this call, he’s in New York, he calls me. I remember being in the 1992 Cadillac Sedan Deville, had no AC in it, and it was hot. This is Atlanta. It gets hot. And he calls me and I pick up my phone, and back then the minutes, you have to pay for cell phone minutes. It’s not like now where the minutes you there forever. Man, he called me and I’m like, ‘What do you want, man?’ It’s like two minutes on the phone. I’m like, ‘What are you saying? What’s going on?’ He’s like, ‘Man, I think Britney’s going to cut this record.’ And I was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?’ I think I hung up on him the first time, because I’m like, ‘Man, I ain’t got time for no jokes right now. You’re wasting my minutes. My Nokia phone, the battery is low. I can’t do it with you man. AC out.'”

Stewart wasn’t kidding and immediately called Dream back.

“I’m like, elated and I’m just driving down 285. I remember exactly where I was over by this mall called Cumberland Mall here in Atlanta,” said Dream. “And I was like, ‘What? Wow.’ And even if she didn’t, it was just a point that somebody’s listening to my words at that level, and it has a chance. So that was the beginning of a thing. That was like, 2003, I want to say, and that was a good time. Now, it was a real good time. I could still smell the beat-up leather in my ’92 Cadillac at that time.”

Mariah Carey Swaps Her Evening Gowns For A Sparkly Prada Sweatsuit During Hamptons Vacay

While Nick Cannon is busy welcoming his eighth child (and first with Bre Tiesi) not long after saying that he would reconcile with ex-wife Mariah Carey if given the chance, the R&B diva appears to be living her best life in the Hamptons.

On Monday (July 25), the mother of two shared a snapshot that finds her relaxing in the living room of the cozy-looking house after ditching her usual glamorous gowns for a sparkly sweatsuit instead.

As Page Six reports, the outfit comes from Prada, with the cashmere and lurex joggers totalling $3,550 and the matching zip-up hoodie coming in slightly lower at $3,300.

“Out East for the week,” Carey captioned her upload. “Soaking it all in. Thank you @dylaneckardt @shawnelliottrealestate and the @nestseekers team!”

The 50-year-old completed her casual-but-cute look with a middle-parted, slicked-back braid and hoop earrings.

As it turns out, Carey was reportedly accompanied by her 11-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, as well as her dancer boyfriend Bryan Tanaka for their trip to the east coast.

The home they stayed in is said to contain a million-dollar, 81-foot-long saltwater pool – perfect for any of the singer’s impromptu gown photoshoots while soaking in the water.

In other news, just last month the New York native revealed that she often has to remind people she’s not just a powerhouse vocal talent, but also a skilled songwriter.

“It’s become a joke to the point where… because they’re all onto the diva thing, it’s like ‘Oh my gosh, she’s a diva, wow, a diva.’ Whatever,” she said during her speech at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
