Calvin Harris And 21 Savage Cash In On Some Summer Fun With The Groovy ‘New Money’

Calvin Harris is back with the second offering from his upcoming album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, tapping 21 Savage for his new single “New Money.” It is an arena the “A Lot” rapper has never found himself in, but much like his feature run over the last year and some change, he floats with ease over the angelic piano keys and soothing drums.

“New Money” follows the lead single “Potion” featuring Dua Lipa and Young Thug. This past week, the Scottish DJ shared the list of features for his long-awaited Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 through an oceanic album trailer. The album will include contributions from 6lack, Chloe, Tinashe, Snoop Dogg, Charlie Puth, Halsey, Justin Timberlake, Latto, Pusha T, Offset, and more. Vol. 2, set to release on August 5, comes five years after Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, headlined by the major singles “Slide” featuring Frank Ocean, Quavo, and Offset and “Feels” with Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Big Sean. If the first album is any indication, Vol. 2 will be placing many people’s favorite artists in soundscapes they’ve likely never been in before, but Calvin Harris knows what he’s doing.

In a summer where listeners will have already received Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind and Beyonce’s Renaissance Part 1, led by “Break My Soul,” the “This Is What You Came For” artist may very well be providing the sounds aligning with that song’s title.

Calvin Harris Taps 21 Savage For “New Money”

This week, Calvin Harris finally shared his star-studded list of features that will appear on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2. Snoop Dogg, Pusha T, Tinashe, Halsey, Offset, Pharrell, and more will help round out this anticipated record, including 21 Savage who appears on “New Money.” The single officially dropped on Friday (July 1), and it is a groove that fans are already praising.

Last month, Harris caught up with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1 and talked about being amazed at how many artists lend their voices to Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2.

“I wanted to just make this again and really go for it and know that I can get these amazing artists on this music that no one else is going to give them,” he said. “And you know, just f***ing do it, man. Honestly it is a record that I still can’t believe that it exists. I’m not just saying that. And it’s the next single, there’s something that I do not know how I pulled it off, or how we pulled it off. Not only has it got someone that, someone in a song where they shouldn’t be in this song, but they sound perfect for it. And then it’s got another person that’s an absolute legend and then another person who’s an absolute legend. And it’s just like, ‘Wow, this doesn’t feel real.'”

We’ll keep you updated with more from Harris and the project, but for now, stream “New Money” ft. 21 Savage and share your thoughts on this one.

Cardi B Unveils “Hot Sh*t” Ft. Kanye West & Lil Durk

This is a single that has been widely anticipated ever since Cardi B revealed she has new music on the way. The Bronx rapper has been taking her time in releasing information about her sophomore album, and her fans hope that the arrival of “Hot Sh*t” is a hint that Cardi’s second studio effort is on the way. For this one, Cardi pulled out Chicago heavy-hitters Kanye West and Lil Durk, with the latter already dubbing the track the song of the year.

Meanwhile, Cardi told Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1 how she managed to link with Ye on this track.

“Kanye gave me this verse a couple of months ago when he was just all over the media, because of all of the things that were going on, and I like how his verse it’s personal, but it’s not that personal,” said Cardi. “It’s enjoyable in the clubs that you could be like, ‘Yeah, yeah. You talk your big cash.’ I really love it. And I’m so happy that he gave me this verse, and I had a lot of conversations with Kanye West. I learned so much about him and he’s such an amazing, sweet person. I’ve been feeling like, I wish a lot of people have conversations with him so they could just see the real him.

Quotable Lyrics

I don’t know what’s longer, man, my blocklist or my checklist
I don’t know what’s colder, man, my heart or my necklace
Pretty when I wake up, I’m a bad b*tch at breakfast
Still might slide on the opp (It’s electric)
Hatin’ didn’t work so they lie (So they lie)
These b*tches lookin’ hurt and they fried (And they fried)
I know they wouldn’t miss them if they died
