Kendrick Lamar’s “We Cry Together” Falls A Record-Breaking 81 Spots On Hot 100 Chart

Kendrick Lamar and Taylour Paige’s “We Cry Together” has experienced the single-biggest drop-off in Billboard Hot 100 history, falling from its debut at No. 16 all the way down to No. 97. The track was among the 18 songs on Lamar’s latest album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which all made their way onto the Billboard Hot 100.

The record was previously held by A$AP Ferg for his song “Move Ya Hips” with MadeinTYO, which debuted at No. 19 but sank to No. 99 a week later.

While an impressive song, “We Cry Together” admittedly isn’t the most replayable with the track featuring Lamar and Paige trading vitriolic blow after vitriolic blow for six minutes depicting a toxic relationship. Some fans believe Taylour represents the state of hip-hop in the song, which follows a similar concept to Eminem’s track, “Kim.”

While Lamar’s record for “We Cry Together” isn’t one an artist would want, the Compton rapper hit a massive milestone this week with his album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The project became the first hip-hop studio album to spend 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chartEminem’s 2005 Curtain Call: The Hits is the only other project in the genre to do so but as a compilation.

Following the success of his new album, Lamar will be embarking on The Big Steppers Worldwide Tour with Baby Keem and Tanna Leone. The performances will be kicking off on July 19th in Oklahoma City.

JT Reveals She Has Breast Implants: “I Want A Redo But I Kinda Like Them”

JT has been a frequent fixture in headlines these last few weeks. Last month she went viral for a wardrobe malfunction at the recent Billboard Music Awards. She later revealed that she was unaware of the slip-up but confirmed that she had panties on despite any appearances otherwise. Following that, she has been involved in a couple of Twitter spits, including roasting a user who called her ugly.

Today, the 29-year-old is back on the app, interacting with her fans as per usual, and in one instance, she satisfied our collective curiosity. A fan wrote in response to a photo of JT, “I wonder if she got her boobs filled to this size or this natural? Them shits are a perfect match.”

JT happened upon the tweet and revealed in her reply that she did, in fact, get her breasts done back in 2018– she’s previously denied getting any work done on her face. JT wrote while quoting the fan’s question, “I got them done 2018 I gained weight in them & didn’t have good bras locked up so they look natural sometime it’s annoying cause they don’t sit well & make me look bigger then what I am. I want a redo but I kinda like them idk…”

She received plenty of love from her followers in reply. One said, “Keep em. We love em.” Another said, “gurl they’re perfect. I wish to get some just as yours sometime soon.” One was surprised that the rapper had gotten work done. They wrote, “WHAT? girl they look so natural i love it.”

JT has also blessed her fans with videos flaunting her time in Jamaica, alongside fellow City Girl Yung Miami. The rap duo shared the footage of their vacation on Instagram which included nights out at clubs, delicious food, and sightseeing. Fans have more to look forward to as the City Girls teased that they have a single on the way featuring Usher.

Lil Nas X Blasts BET Awards Over Snub

The 2022 BET Awards nominations were announced today and Lil Nas X was nowhere to be found.

In a series of since-deleted tweets, the rapper called out the network for snubbing him once again despite the success of his debut album Montero, which spawned hit singles like “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow.

“thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations again,” he tweeted before adding, “black excellence!”

When someone questioned why he deserved to be nominated, Nas clapped back with receipts. “idk maybe 3 of the biggest songs of last year & a critically acclaimed album,” he said. “i feel like that should’ve helped me a bit.”

Another person claimed that he shouldn’t be eligible because he is a “pop artist,” to which he responded, “no offense but u are literally of caucasian persuasion and trying to school me on an award show i’ve watched my entire childhood + it’s not the hip hop awards + they have a pop category.”

According to Nas, the snub is not just about him. “doesn’t even have to be me nominated,” the openly gay rapper wrote on Wednesday, which also happens to be the first day of Pride Month. “i just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”

Lil Nas X Tweets

While he may not be attending the show, he joked that he will be “selling fish plates outside of the bet awards this year.”

This is the second consecutive year that Nas has been snubbed. He was nominated for Best New Artist in 2020 but lost.

Nas delivered one of the most-talked-about moments of last year’s BET Awards when he performed “Montero.” In 2019, he performed his record-breaking hit “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus.

While Nas was shut out, his “Scoop” collaborator Doja Cat leads the 2022 BET Awards with six nominations, while Drake and Ari Lennox earned the second most nods with four each. Other multiple nominees include Future, Young Thug, Baby Keem, Silk Sonic, Kanye West, and more.

Hosted by Taraji P. Henson, the 2022 BET Awards will air live on Sunday, June 26 at 8 p.m. from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Today In Hip Hop History: Ja Rule Dropped His ‘Venni Vetti Vecci’ Album 23 Years Ago

tumblr c23585bdab347f803d8857e8f0f257b0 0b5587ea 1280

On this day in Hip Hop history, Queens rapper Ja Rule released his debut LP Venni Vetti Vicci. As the first release ofrom Irv Gotti‘s Murder Inc. record label, this project carried a lot of weight on its shoulders as the breakthrough for not only Ja Rule’s career but the career and integrity of Murder Inc Records as a whole.

Fortunately enough, the album was a hit and launched Ja Rule and Murder Inc. up among the ranks of some of New York’s most respected and successful rappers. Ja Rule’s force, style, and energy blended perfectly with and help grow the popularity of the East Coast hardcore movement that was taking place in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The mix of high energy, club jam production and hardcore gangster lyricism is what made this album so appealing. Although it could be said that Ja Rule wasn’t the greatest with the pen, the party appeal of this project kept it flying off the shelves in record stores across the country. The album’s commercial reception was more than any one could ask for a debut album peaking at #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart all while going platinum in the year of its release.
