Brittney Griner is still being detained in a Russian jail, and while there have been various efforts to negotiate her release, it doesn’t seem like any of these measures have worked. Her entire family is extremely worried about her well-being, and this has been especially difficult for her wife, Cherrelle Griner.

Cherrelle hasn’t seen her spouse in months, and as it turns out, she was supposed to have a phone call with her on their fourth anniversary. According to TMZ, things did not work out as planned as Cherrelle claims the U.S. Government messed up the call. This had been planned for a while now, but when Cherrelle tried to call, nothing went through.

As one can imagine, Cherrelle was extremely frustrated over what went down. In fact, she even had some choice words for the U.S. Government, which were unable to process what should have been a simple request.

“I was distraught. I was hurt. I was done, fed up,” Cherrelle said. “If I can’t trust you to catch a Saturday call outside of business hours, how can I trust you to actually be negotiating on my wife’s behalf to come home? Because that’s a much bigger ask than to catch a Saturday call.”

A witness called in the trial of Eric Holder, who stands accused of shooting and killing Nipsey Hussle, recalled the legendary rapper’s last words in court on Monday. The witness, Shermi Villanueva, 47, was also injured in the shooting, three years ago in a Los Angeles parking lot.

“’He shot me. He shot me,’” Villanueva said, remembering Hussle’s final words after being shot. “I heard it, and then I saw Nipsey fall. When I looked and see Nipsey, I started to run.”

In addition to Hussle and Villanueva, the witness’ uncle, Kerry Lathan, had also by stuck by a bullet.

“[My Uncle] was like, ‘I’m shot also.’ We were paying attention to Nipsey, and he was like, ‘I’m shot also,’” Villanueva continued. “I told him, ‘Don’t move,’ because he said he was shot in his back, and it was possible he could have a spinal injury.”

Villanueva also stated that he didn’t hear Holder say anything prior to shooting Hussle, which would lend credence to the prosecution’s argument that the shooting was a pre-meditated attack rather than a “heat of the moment” decision, as the defense has claimed.

Police have reported that Holder was upset with Hussle after the late rapper accused him of being a snitch.

“Respect is everything. Reputation is everything. It’s a different play on respect than you’re used to,” Deputy District Attorney John McKinney explained to the court in the prosecution’s opening statement. “It’s kind of a perverse definition of respect … a lot of blood has been shed, not only in that gang, but in gangs across the county, over this concept of respect.”

Holder faces one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. If convicted, Holder could be looking at life in prison.

One of the most critical oldheads in the NBA today is none other than Charles Barkley. As an analyst on TNT, Barkley has had some harsh words for some of the league’s biggest stars, including none other than Kevin Durant. With the Warriors enjoying so much success, Barkley has likened Durant to a “bus rider” as opposed to a “bus driver.”

Recently, CJ McCollum sought to dispel this myth while appearing on ESPN. In the clip below, McCollum claims KD was always the best player on those Warriors teams, saying “[Kevin Durant] was the bus driver of that team. … His resume speaks for himself. There’s no blemishes on it.”

The segment from Get Up! made its way to KD, who was clearly fired up about what Barkley was saying. Durant has always been one to call out slander and this particular instance was no exception. As you will see, Durant had some smoke for Barkley, who is pretty well fed up with at this point.

“All this shit is nasty, another terrible analogy from a hatin old head that can’t accept that we making more bread than them,” Durant said. “It’s just timing Chucky, don’t hate the playa.”

Durant has always been a controversial figure due to his move to Golden State in 2016. It’s something that will always hang over his head and now that the Warriors have added another title to their legacy, there is no doubt that Durant will have to endure even more potential slander.
