Royce Da 5’9″ Reflects On 20 Years Of Bad Meets Evil

It’s been over ten years since Bad Meets Evil last joined forces for their full-length project Hell: The Sequel, and many fans have been itching to see Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″ unite for a follow-up effort.

It’s no wonder that the diabolical duo are in such demand, as both parties are two of the best lyricists in the game to this day. Unsurprising, given that both emcees have long put in their ten-thousand hours — as longtime listeners know, Em and Royce have been doing this for some time, originally beginning their shared run in the late nineties.

Today, Royce took a moment to reflect on an interesting milestone: the twenty-year anniversary of the deep cut fan-favorite “Scary Movies.” The song was one of two tracks included on their 1998 double-single, the second of which was titled “Nuttin To Do.” A nostalgic display of elite lyricism, the duet ultimately landed a spot on the soundtrack of Scary Movie, a fitting home — if a little tonally different.

“20 years ago….” captions Royce, S/O my bro Reef.” For those wondering, Reef was the producer who actually laced both “Scary Movies” and “Nuttin To Do.” Anyone looking to go back and revisit one of the formative Bad Meets Evil tracks would be wise to look back at that early 1998 single, as it contains some of their rawest lyricism.

Check out Royce’s nostalgic post below, and be sure to sound off if you’re hoping to see another new album from Bad Meets Evil. Or perhaps if that’s too much to ask, a sequel to “Scary Movies” would be an interesting direction. Do you remember this classic cut?

“Sopranos” Prequel “Many Saints Of Newark” Trailer Is Here

The Sopranos ran for six seasons between 1999-2007 which led to a cult-like following that, fourteen years later, have demanded a seventh season. While that seems slim, a brand new prequel to the show is expected to be released next month. The Many Saints Of Newark explores the story of a young Tony Soprano growing up amid a heated gang war in Newark.

As fans anticipate the film’s arrival in October in both cinemas and HBO Max, a new trailer for the film has been released. The full-length cinematic trailer offers more depth to the character of Dickie Moltisanti — the father of Tony’s right-hand man Christopher. The prequel is certainly one that fans of the film will appreciate 14 years after the series ended.

“He was so mysterious for so long,” David Chase told Deadline on angling the film surrounding Moltisanti. “I even used to find myself wondering okay, a couple of lines here, a couple of lines there about this guy. How bad was this guy? Apparently, he was like, evil incarnate, the way Tony talks about him. The worst, biggest, baddest motherf*cker you could ever run into. We also felt that we needed to have a central character that was as…well, what’s the word?”

Check out the trailer below. The Many Saints Of Newark hits theatres and HBO Max on Oct. 1st.

Rick Ross Declares “Richer Than I’ve Ever Been” Is His Best Yet

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard a concrete update about Rick Ross’ upcoming album Richer Than I’ve Ever Been. The project was originally supposed to drop at the beginning of the year, but Rozay opted to perfect the process.

Though he has kept fans satisfied by generously previewing snippets of unreleased album cuts — including what appears to be a back-and-forth duet with the late Notorious B.I.G — Rick Ross has kept details relatively close to his chest. During a recent interview on The Bakari Sellers Podcast, however, Renzel opted to divulge a little bit more about his upcoming endeavor.

“Really I feel this is the best album,” he explains. “I make progress every day. The words I use, the positions I’m in. The things I’m able to say. Some of the stuff I’m saying on the album gon’ separate this album from others. A lot of people are going to say Rozay shouldn’t have did thaaaat. I think I should. Why not? That’s what the game needs. I’m only going to bring what the game needs.”

“The game needed a boss like myself,” he continues. “Somebody to give us the perspective of the back of the classroom. The game needed somebody with that ambition and drive after accumulating that much success, wealth. Still collaborating with young, unsigned artists. Still bringing youngsters into the promised land.”

Expect to see this one arriving before the year wraps up, and should Rick Ross’ words hold true, perhaps we’ll see some interesting innovation on his eleventh studio album. Are you excited for Richer Than I’ve Ever Been?

Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Reportedly Out-Streamed Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ In Just Three Days

Drake and Kanye West have a history of longstanding beef that was at one point squashed, but has seemingly intensified around their respective albums. Kanye West dropped his buzz-worthy album Donda just a week before Drake’s equally-anticipated LP Certified Lover Boy. While Donda dominated streaming services upon its release, it looks as though Drake’s album reportedly out-performed Kanye’s.

It’s no secret that both Donda and Certified Lover Boy saw massive debut weeks. According to Kanye’s team, Donda had over 180 million streams in 24 hours, breaking both Spotify and Apple Music’s single-day streaming record for 2021. But a week later, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy took the top streaming slot in just a few days, per a report from Rolling Stone. According to Alpha Data, the analytics provider Rolling Stone uses to calculate their charts, Certified Lover Boy saw 430 million in the three days following its release. By comparison, Donda received under 423 million streams in its first eight days.

Even though Certified Lover Boy saw more streams than Donda, Kanye’s album was still a success by all accounts. The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 309,000 units in its first week and leaving Kanye tied with Eminem for the most-consecutive No. 1 albums.
