Silk Sonic Glides Through Their Latest Single “Skate”

Their hit “Leave the Door Open” continues to dominate as Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, and Bootsy Collins’s supergroup Silk Sonic storms the charts with one single. Fans have been waiting on news regarding when they will release a full-length project, but instead of giving up the goods, Silk Sonic has returned with a new track, “Skate.”

Mars and Paak have tapped into a retro sound that stays relevant to today’s culture while paying homage to the 1960s and ’70s grooves that we hold near and dear. As the title of this new song suggests, “Skate” is perfect for heading to your nearest roller rink and gliding around with the one you love. We know that rinks aren’t as popular as they used to be, but with tracks like these, Silk Sonic just may help them make a comeback.

Stream “Skate” and let us know what you think of Silk Sonic’s latest.

Quotable Lyrics

In a room full of dimes
You would be hundred dollars
If bein’ fine was a crime
Girl, they’d lock your lil’ fine ass up in a tower
The way you move like you do
Ooh, it’s like you do it for a livin’
Do a lil’ spin, do it again
Sh*t, look like you playin’ for the win, oh, baby

DaBaby Claps Back At Questlove: “I Was Your Dream Performer N*gga”

He doesn’t have much to say to Madonna, but DaBaby clapped back at Questlove. Earlier today, Madonna took to her Instagram to pen a lengthy message directed at DaBaby regarding his controversial Rolling Loud comments as well as his “apologies” that followed. The rapper has made it clear that his views cannot be argued as he has the freedom to believe and speak on his opinions, but DaBaby has been hit with allegations that he’s homophobic.

The Roots icon Questlove also spoke out against DaBaby’s remarks in a social media post. “I was hypothetically asked if I was curating an updated version of #SummerOfSoul who would be my acts?” the musician penned in a post. He listed his group, Rihanna, A Tribe Called Quest, Megan Thee Stallion, Sade, The Isley Brothers, Haitus Kaiyote, Sault, and DaBaby. However, this time around, he scratched the rapper’s name out. “I gave my dream list.”

“And now I’m updating my list ——because it’s 2021 & f*ck the bullsh*t,” he added. “I’m especially not here for any savagery (if you’re lost: Google the idiocy of the crossed out). I’m not trine be all performative smurf & create a social flogging or start some click bait headlines. That’s missing the point. But right is right & his actions are wrong. Somebody Gotta say it: Homophobia/Transphobia/Xenophobia/Misogyny/Racism——this should go w/o saying is morally wrong.”

“Barely said anything about Rih in ‘06 (lemme mind my business), looked the other way w ol bol & that MaGa Hat (he going thru thangs let him work it out)——don’t even get me started on half of my rap heroes damn near becoming f*x news talking points w their russian bot reposts & misinformation on all things facts.”

After The Shade Room reposted the update, DaBaby jumped in the comments. “I was YO DREAM PERFORMER N*GGA I don’t know you my boy [crying laughing enoji],” he wrote. “Might go mf bidness dawg @questlove.” Check it out below.

A Woman Who Was Last Seen At Rolling Loud’s Miami Festival Has Been Reported Missing

According to NBC Miami and Rolling Stone, a 23-year-old woman who was last seen at this year’s recent Rolling Loud festival in Miami has been reported missing. Ashley Espinosa Sanchez was last spotted with her friend Nicholas Prevost on July 24 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. She stands at 5’2″ and 130 points with brown hair and brown eyes and when she was last seen, she was wearing a floral black and red romper and white Vans

Sanchez and Prevost made their way to the festival from Tallahassee and upon entering the festival, Prevost told NBC, Sanchez gave him her phone and walked away. Shortly after, she got lost in the festival’s large crowd, which caused Sanchez to wait until the end of the night to find her. Unfortunately, the two never reconnected and Prevost filed a missing persons report the following day. He also checked several hospitals, but he was unable to find her. Miami Police told NBC that they are working on a missing person case in order to locate Sanchez.

On Thursday, a Miami news outlet reported that Sanchez was seen Monday on surveillance camera at the Lost and Found at Hard Rock Stadium. “Video shows she was in the company of an unknown black male, 5′10″-6′0″, thin build, wearing long dark pants, black T-shirt, red shirt tied around waist, dark sneakers, and a light-colored hat,” Miami Gardens police said in a press release. They added, “Video shows Ms. Espinoza-Sanchez and the black male appear to part ways on foot in opposite directions. She was last seen walking towards parking lot #18. It is possible Ms. Espinoza-Sanchez is still in the area.”

Masego Soaks In Mexico City’s Warm Summer Sun Through His Video For ‘Mystery Lady’

Two years after his debut album Lady Lady, Masego finally returned at the end of 2020 with a new EP, Studying Abroad. The six-track effort found the singer and instrumentalist taking his sound to different corners of the world, including Africa and the Caribbean. His collaboration with Don Toliver, “Mystery Lady,” proved to be a standout effort, and months later he delivered a remix of the track on the deluxe for the 2020 release. Masego gives the project another push with a video for the remix.

The new video comes without a verse from Don Toliver, with Masego taking complete control of the vocal responsibilities. The singer is accompanied by a graceful dancer who doubles as his titular mystery lady for the video. The pair make the best out of each other’s company as they transverse Mexico City, enjoying the summer sun and the area’s peaceful environment.

Fans of Masego will soon be able to watch him perform songs from Studying Abroad: Extended Stay as well as other efforts from his impressive catalog. He’s set to bring his talents to HER’s Lights On Festival which will make stops in Concord, California and Brooklyn, New York this year.

You can watch the video for the remix of “Mystery Lady” above.

Studying Abroad: Extended Stay is out now via EQT Recordings/Capitol Records. Get it here.

Wack 100 Tells 6ix9ine “I Don’t Think You’re Scared To Die” On Akademiks’s Podcast

The forthcoming, three-hour sit-down involving Wack 100 and Tekashi 6ix9ine has already caused a firestorm of reactions. The pair were recently featured on the premiere episode of Akademiks’s new Off The Record Podcast, and although the conversation won’t go live un August 3, we’ve received an official sneak peek of how it all went down.

This week, Wack 100 and Mysonne exchanged scathing words after the latter called out the Hip Hop producer for being a “Big Bad Blood” who sat down with someone who testified against his Nine Trey associates. After a photo of Wack 100 and 6ix9ine’s discussion was shared, Akademiks has returned with a video clip.

“When I look in your eyes, let me tell you what I see,” said Wack. “I see a motherf*cker—you have totally dismissed, you done already played it out how you gone go. I don’t think you scared to die… He’s not scared to die. He has already embraced that. He done played it out how it was gone happen if it happen. He not scared of that sh*t.”

“He really got a point to prove,” he continued. 6ix9ine chimed in and said, “That’s my point… I only attack the people that’s coming for me.” The rapper suggested that if he gets caught without his security and something happens to him, then it is fate. Check out the clip below.
