Idris EIba, Regina King & LaKeith Stanfield Star In “The Harder They Fall” Trailer

It looks like Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, and Regina King are teaming up for a new-school Western film coming out later this year. Yesterday, Netflix unveiled the first trailer to their forthcoming film, The Harder They Fall, dropping later this Fall.

The new Western-themed clip shows Regina King’s “Treacherous” Trudy Smith and LaKeith Stanfield’s Cherokee Bill stopping a train in its tracks, with Trudy putting a bullet in the head of the white conductor who’s about to call her the N-word. The two then jump on the train and hold everyone hostage until they get what they’re looking for – the release of Idris Elba’s Rufus Buck, who is being held in a safe on the train. The rest of the action-packed trailer shows how Rufus (Elba) will be hunted down by Jonathan Major’s Nat Love and his crew, including Zazie Beetz, Edi Gathegi and R.J. Cyler.

The Harder They Fall marks the directorial debut for Jeymes Samuel, who also cowrote the film with Boaz Yakin. The movie is also reportedly being produced by JAY-Z, alongside James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender.

Check out the upcoming Western-film trailer (below) and let us know what you think. Look for the film to be hitting select theaters and Netflix this Fall.

Tyler, The Creator & Doja Cat Spark AOTY Buzz With New Releases

Both Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator shared their latest efforts today (June 25). For Doja, Planet Her‘s rollout began back in April with its SZA-assisted lead single “Kiss Me More.” She followed up with the promotional single “Need to Know” in early June before releasing its second single “You Right” with The Weeknd alongside the album.

Tyler began his Call Me If You Get Lost era this month with the release of “Lumberjack” and “WusYaName” before unleashing the full project. The album features appearances from the likes of 42 Digg, NBA YoungBoy, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Uzi Vert, Pharrell, and more. Now that fans have had ample amount of time to stream both efforts, the verdicts are in.

Both Doja and Tyler’s efforts are being discussed on social media as Album of the Year Contenders. J. Cole had previously been social media’s pick for the coveted award, but as “AOTY” trends on Twitter, both Planet Her and Call Me If You Get Lost are being thrown into the discussions.

I can confirm that Tyler the Creator’s album is indeed better than J Cole’s album and is now the AOTY,” penned one listener. “folks can hate and dickride all they want, this album was phenomenal *chefs kiss,* Tyler was on his shi the whole time and this defo aoty for me, no hesitation,” wrote another.

Elsewhere, others praised Doja’s third studio album as her best yet. “Planet Her is THAT album this year. it’s aoty and sis did the damn thing. literally no skips… literally. it’s insane to me,” wrote one user. Another posed, “#PlanetHer already cleared. Aoty I fear. The cohesiveness, versatility, vocals, aesthetic…the rapping. Oh its a 10/10 album.”

Doja Cat & Young Thug Link Up For The Melodic & Upbeat “Payday”

Doja Cat’s long-awaited third studio album Planet Her has finally arrived, and the lean 14-track project features some pretty impressive guest features from artists such as J.I.D, SZA, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, and Young Thug. Over the years, fans have come to appreciate Doja Cat’s unbelievable versatility on albums such as Amala and Hot Pink, and her latest full-length effort is no different.

One of the early standouts from the genre-bending album is “Payday,” the highly anticipated track that marks the first official collaboration between Doja Cat and Young Thug.

While both of the artists are incredibly skilled rappers, “Payday” finds both of them in their pop bag, delivering a melodic and upbeat record. Doja Cat leads the show with an infectious hook and bridge combo, while Young Thug contributes a quick verse, and as expected, they both feel right at home over the hyperpop production from Y2K.

Listen to Doja Cat and Young Thug’s new collaboration below, and if you’re feeling it listen to the rest of Planet Her here.

Quotable Lyrics

And I’m bilingual, talking money conversations
And, baby, we are not the same, make no mistakes, yeah (Make no mistakes)
You gotta face it (You gotta face)
‘Cause I just keep addin’ up and they run it up
And then add it up, and they run it, run it
